Zidane looked to Kira, hands settling on his hips as he tilted his head. His features twisted up, a measured level of disbelief in her reaction to seeing the fae-beasts.
"Well of course I do. Are you feeling okay?" She's been acting pretty odd! Kupo frowned at Akemi's reaction, looking up to Zidane. "Is he okay, kupo-po?" Zidane looked down to the Moogle, reaching to rub the back of his neck at the complicated question. All in all things seemed a normal night. A bit of a fight in the bar and a boy young, confused and coming to age amidst such a fight! Yeah it was some weird sort of bar alternative universe where strange stories like that occurred. Zidane hated to see Akemi lament over it though. In fact he felt a bit at fault, though he was not admitting to anything. "Hey..." he moved to reach out to Akemi. comfort the guy.Kupo waddled away from the pair and up to Kira's side, but he seemed to be looking to the air, his pom pom bouncing. Clouds carried across the sky, swallowing the light of the twin moons, leaving many to navigate via lantern. The moogle began to tremble."Something's coming kupo!" And as if to ring in the ominous herald: the clocktower's bell rang, but it could not ring without the pallbearer tugging its ropes. This caused Zidane, who was moving to stand beside Akemi, look up.Swinging from the rope was a Gargoyle Heartless before it took off into the sky. All around Soldier Heartless and Shadows formed from the newly cast pillars of darkness come with the cloud-covered moons. MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

The female miqo'te took a moment to calm her breathing, the adrenaline from finally getting into a fight having started to take effect. Resting her left arm on the hilt of her blade, she set her eyes on the moogle and watched it with unflinching scrutiny. The moogles back on Hydaelyn were infamous for their tricks and pranks, though this one did seem different in appearance with longer limbs, smaller ears and a bright red pom over a pink or yellow one. Whatever appearance the moogle decided to take, Kira was still giving it an overly cautious stare... couldn't be too careful with these fluff balls. She didn't move as it waddled towards here, where the miqo'te's tail flicked behind herself from side to side in mild annoyance, keeping an eye on it while occasionally glancing to the Genome and the Mage as the former tried to comfort the latter. Akemi's warning fell on deaf ears, doubly so it seemed. Neither her nor the Genome seemed worried about the red-head's powers acting up, even though the pair of them had already seen said powers in action. There was a potentially phenomenally powerful mage waiting to awaken from within the young lad.
The wandering cat-lady said nothing for the moment as she folded her arms across her chest and leaned on her right leg, tail still swishing behind her slowly. Her ears perked up as the moonlight was covered by clouds, a chill breeze making the windows of the chapel rattle slightly. Something was afoot and the moogle seemed to be aware of it more then the rest of them. Kira peered down to watch the furry creature as it looked skyward, cocking an eyebrow as the tiny beast seemed to be trembling. ”... Uh... you cold or something, Moogle?” Kira asked as she turned on her heels slightly, tiny stones scraping the ground under her boot. Upon hearing Kupo's words, the miqo'te frowned and glanced around herself, noticing Zidane was looking up now as well. Kira turned her attention to the bell tower above the four of them when hearing the bell ring, her eyes widening and mouth opening when seeing the Gargoyle take off into the darkened skies.
”W-what manner of beast wa-”, she begun to question before she cut herself off with a gasp escaping her lips at the spawning of those tiny black monsters with yellow eyes again. The zing of her blade being drawn from it's scabbard was accompanied by the alarm of her voice. ”These monsters again?!” Though as she glanced around herself, there were more then those little wiggly ones this time. Some had come to the party wearing armour that rattled and clanked with their jagged movements. Kira hissed and brought her blade up before herself, her tail wrapping about her waist like a furry belt as she turned to face the nearest Heartless to her, one of the Soldiers. ”... Any more hiding places Geenom, or are we fighting this time!?”

Akemi could feel the icy energy surging and crackling around his hands. A faint, cold mist radiated from them as he held them close to his chest and away from the others. The moogle and Zidane wanted to get closer to comfort him but he wasn’t going to allow that. As they moved closer he tried to move away slowly. He was afraid of his powers and what they might do to the others like what had happened to the dogman back at the bar. They were so nice and understanding that the boy wouldn’t be able to live with himself if he were to harm them.
Before Akemi could speak, he noticed the light from the twin moons were growing dim and as the clock tower’s bell began to ring eerily. The hair on the back of his neck began to stand up as a familiar dark presence emanated from behind him. ”They’re back…” said the voice as Akemi slowly turned around. Those bright yellow eyes, those twitching limbs, and the darkness that followed them; it was those monsters again from his home! Did they follow him?! What were they doing here?! In a panicked state, Akemi quickly stumbled away from the clock tower as tried to get away. But it was all in vein, the heartless were crawling out from the shadows and twitching their way towards them. ”N-No…not again…”He muttered to himself as he tumbled in fear.
Flashbacks of the events that took place back in his city began to flood his mind. Image after image rapidly flashed before his mind’s eye as the chilling feeling began to grow within him. The ice energy around his hands began to crawl up his arms and around his legs. It hissed and cracked as branched up his arms and legs, making it seem like cracks were forming all over them as the light from the magic glowed through the seams. His hair was slowly fading from crimson red to snow white from the roots to the tips, leaving faint spots of red and pink in his hair. A light frost began to form on the street beneath him, freeze the stones and plants in seconds. ”Make them stop…make them stop…make them stop!!” Over and over he repeated to himself as he held on to his head, wishing the fear and the memories would stop. It felt like the air was being sucked out of his lungs and his body was becoming stone. Akemi could feel his heart racing and pounding away in his chest. Panic was starting to take of him and the boy didn’t know what to do.

((apologies for a massively late reply, irl))
DING DONG DONG DANG DING!
While as amusing as such would seem seeing a Gargoyle Heartless swinging about madly on the bell tower's rope: the oncoming presence of a Heartless swarm birthed by what felt to be the tolling of the death bell. It was a dizzying sensation as they crawled out from every corner and from under each division of grass and stone. The hollow expressions and glowing eyes created a sense of diminishing power as they hungrily clawed around searching for their prey.
Zidane's tail puffed up as he turned heel. "Oh man, not these again!" They've been cropping up way too much lately!
The rogue knew this wasn't good, but what was worse? Akemi's shouting had caught the rogue off guard. He bristled, tail brushing from side to side as he turned to the lad. Kupo looked around and than up, the Gargoyle had laughed a cackling sound, darting away! The Genome looked back to Kupo than to the cat-eared woman. He knew what to do! Turning he would shove Akemi toward the tower, moving to take the boy's hand with a firm grip. The rogue pushed to grip the ladder, pausing only to look back to the red-head.
"Come on! We're following Kupo!" He pointed, the winged nut eater fluttering up the path. But that had been where the monster went, right? "Moogle's are Faeries, they an sense evil. Kupo won't lead us astray, I won't. Trust me!" He said.
Despite anything Zidane seemed the sort to speak from his heart... maybe that was why --?
The rogue hurried up toward the steeple where planks had been laid out across the roof which gave delinquent kids and thieves an easy path to follow. He had a certain target, but it wouldn't be easy. He had focused his sights on the castle walls. Jumping down the male's boots hit with a clap as he bounced across to the plank to the roof across where Kupo was waving them down.
A few Gargoyles littered the roofs, but they seemed to be searching around and scouting, not after them specifically! Below the Heartless that could would lunge after any stragglers with grabby hands! The blonde haired, monkey tailed rapscallion pointed along the way.

The situation was starting to look bleak. The way out of the ruined chapel had been all by blocked by the sudden swarm of Heartless emerging from the ground and appearing from out of the shadows. Kira took a step backwards, her fingers gripping her blade as she flicked her gaze from one Soldier to a Shadow, then to another Soldier. They looked identical. Were they clones perhaps? Even the jagged and wobbly movements the Shadows made looked eerily close to how the next nearest Shadow moved. More physical movement caused one of her ears to flick backwards to listen in on Akemi and Zidane. Seemed like they were making a move and the only way she could think of them going would be up the ladder in the middle of this half broken room. Zidane confirmed her thoughts as he called out, ushering them all to climb the ladder before they were all truly overrun. They all couldn't climb it at once and Kira didn't want to risk the ladder breaking were they all to start ascending immediately after one another.
The female Miqo'te turned to her left and swung her blade out in an upward arc that connected with a leaping Shadow and swatted it out the air before it had a chance to sink it's claws into either the red-head or the Genome. ”... Hurry up and climb!!”, she barked as she turned back to her right and kicked a Soldier's helm, causing it's visor to snap shut. The Heartless wobbled about and held it's hands out in front of itself as it struggled to see where it was going. As it staggered around and turned it's back on the Miqo'te, she hoofed another kick into it's back and punted it into a gathering group of Shadows, knocking them all down for a moment. Glancing over her shoulder to see if it was safe for her to climb yet, she noticed the other two nearing the top. Sheathing his blade with a click, Kira turned and jumped up onto the ladder, a wooden creak coming from her sudden weight upon it. Ignoring the strain, she hurried up after the men and quickly reached the level they were on, glancing down to see some of the Shadows wondering how to operate a ladder.
Following after the pair, Kira frowned as she wasn't able to take the moment to enjoy the stunning scenary again, although this time it had more of those creepy bell tolling Gargoyle looking things littering the place. As Zidane and Akemi neared the first set of planks stretching across rooftops, Kira didn't bother waiting for her turn and sprinted for the edge of the roof itself, using her feline agility to leap the gap and land on the other side with a gentle thud and a small slip, catching her balance as a roof tile came loose can slid off the edge, plummeting to the ground where it shattered into pieces. The miqo'te didn't run off ahead though. The Moogle would be useless in a fight and the Genome was assisting the red-haired mage, so it fell upon her to protect the flank and make sure any of the critters following didn't catch up. Her sword was drawn with another metallic 'zing' and she moved close to the planks across rooftops, standing her ground and waiting for the others to get clear before she turned about and chased after them once more.

While the heartless were crawling out of the darkness, Akemi was pushed by the Gnome to get him inside the chapel. The boy was in a panic state and couldn’t function right, let alone think. He stumbled inside of the chapel behind Zidane as Kira protected their flank. The moogle fluttered to the top of the tower and ushered them to follow. Akemi was completely oblivious to this. His eyes were glued to the heartless that twitched and stumbled toward them. Why were they here? Were they after him? Or were they just creatures that loved to cause hurt and harm? No one knew but they all had the same idea to an extent and that was to run away.
Akemi looked down at his arm and breathed rapidly as he watched the cracks in his skin glow with icy blue energy. An icy mist radiated from the cracks. Hissing and cracking, the crack slowly made their way up and down as he stood there trembling. What was happening to him? Was this his magic again? But this was different from when he froze that dogman. This time it felt as if something was building up and was trying to come out. His senses were all affected by his panic state so it was hard for him to even remember to breathe. His hearing was impaired and his vision was tunneled. All he could hear was muffled sounds around him from the shouting and his own breathing. Akemi felt someone grabbing his hand and pulled him to a ladder in the center of the chapel. The boy couldn’t make out his words but knew out of instincts that he needed to climb up.
Quickly gripping the ladder behind Zidane, he followed behind him. With each time he pulled himself up the ladder, a thin sheet a frost imprinted the wood where his hands and feet touched. Looking down when he could, he noticed Kira was right behind him. She shouted up at him to hurry up and climb when he paused to look down. Not wasting anymore time, he reached the top as quickly as he could. However, there was no time to stop and relax. Zidane beckoned them to follow the moogle who was heading toward the castle wall. The rooftop was connected by planks of wood that made bridges for people to travel around from above. Zidane went ahead and ran across the first plank. He never once flinched or looked down as he ran across. Akemi slowly slid down the stone shingles of the roof to the same plank. His eyes were fixated on it while he trembled a bit. He could see the heartless below, snatching and grabbing the air as if they were hungry piranhas in a pond.
Akemi began to slowly walk across the plank, making sure to hold his balance and to not fall off. However, his eyes quickly darted over to the sounds of something or someone running behind him. Akemi locked on to who it was as they jumped off the edge of the roof. It was Kira!! As if it was in slow motion, he watched her fly through the air as she landed on the other side with ease. A few shingles fell and smashed into a few heartless below. Between her and Zidane, Akemi wished that he was that fearless and strong like they were. Throughout this whole chaotic night, they never once lost their cool and were level headed unlike himself. Akemi snapped out of his head as Kira looked back to him and ushered him to catch up with just the look in her eyes. Not wanting to make her angrier than she already was, He shuffled his way to the other side. “One plank down, a few left to go.” He told himself as he tried to catch up to the others. [/div]

It wasn't hard to understand the gravity of the situation as Heartless began to appear. As of late the occurances were intensified by the presence of off-worlders, though the rogue couldn't hold them entirely to blame. For one the worlds he visited has been infested all the same, but the severity seemed to shift from place to place. Was there some underlying cause to this -- distress? He didn't have much time to consider it as with every step the shadows drew closer and closer. Kupo was already across the way thanks to his fluttery wings. Zidane stepped along the rooftop with a precise memory that forestalled ant accidents. When one Heartless was struck down another seemed to fill the void. As the rogue stood still he had a moment to consider Akemi. The kid really seemed out of luck with his powers. He was worried for him. "Look out Zidane?" Kupo called our suddenly. The rogue whorled around and slammed the sole of his boot into the face of a charging soldier. The cacophonous clan of the helm hitting boot was satisfying as it went tumbling off the edge of the rooftops. It seemed the closer they drew to the castle the fewer Heartless became. Zidane beckoned the pair and hopped over the palisades and into the castle walls where he landed in a familiar rookery. Inside it was dark housing a few doves and a sleeping Knight of Pluto. Zidane put his gloves finger over his mouth as he edges his way to the knight's post and liberated his candlestick fr the desk. As he the Ed to face the two his tail's flexible end coiled around the keys around the knight's waist. Cocking his head and thrusting back his thumb he would usher the two to proceed silently. There was a pause though as the rogue looked back to Kupo. The moogle flapped his arms and fluttered along. "K-kupo. Mosh should be in the Guardhouse. He can tell the captain, ok." It seemed a sound plan but that was if they could get to the bottom of this rookery without attracting unwanted attention. It wasn't just the Heartless outside to contend with but the guard beasts that roamed inside... So down they would have to travel... MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

Akemi looked ahead to see the others getting closer and closer to the wall of the castle. Safety was so close yet it felt so far. Due to his fear of heights mixed in with the swarms of heartless raging below, it was hard to stay focused. The boy slowly made his way over the next plank. The wood bugled and cracked a bit as he slowly shuffled his feet across. The many Shadows and Soldiers below jumped and tried to claw their way up to the red head. The gap between the two were just enough to where they couldn’t reach him. As his feet were planted firmly on the next rooftop, a feeling of accomplishment filled his chest.
Akemi was facing his fear and working his way through it. Little things like this was what gave him the urge to press on though he was going to need it with all the monsters behind them and below. Reaching the final plank that connected the last remaining roof to the castle wall, he took a moment to breathe. ”I can do this…I can do this…” He told himself as he mustered up the courage to press on. The boy began to slowly make his way on to the piece of wood. Step by step, he balanced himself across the board. The wood began to bulge like before and soon the cracking noises followed. The Heartless below him remained as hungry and ravenous as before. As he reached the middle of the plank, the sounds of the bell tower chiming began to ring loudly. As Akemi turned around, he noticed the Gargoyle heartless were right behind him.
Quickly he tried to move faster but the fear of falling behind was growing more and more now. In the distance one of the flying beasts reached into it wide maw and pulled out an orb covered an eerie, ghostly flame. The monster threw it as it rushed straight towards the boy. He watched in horror as it grew closer and closer. Before he knew it, his body kicked into survival mode and unwillingly jumped from the plank as the orb exploded into white flames. The piece of wood was engulfed in second as it broke apart of fell into the monstrous darkness below. Akemi was able to latch himself onto the edge of the wall as dangled there, holding on for dear life. ”H-Help!!!” , as he called out to Zidane and Kira. His grip was slowly starting to give in as the Shadows and Soldiers twitched and jumped up to try to catch him sooner when he would fall. His heart began to race as the cracks in his skin began to get worse. Sadly, luck was not on his side.
One of the Gargoyle heartless from behind quickly swooped in and slammed their feet into sides causing him to lose the remaining grip that he had. As if everything slowed down around him, he began to fall from the ledge of the castle wall. So close to safety but wasn’t close enough. His hand reached up as he let out a fear filled scream as he tumbled down closer to the heartless below. ”I…I don’t want to die…I just want to leave this place…I wanna go home…Please…I want to just leave!!” He thought as he closed his eyes. Out of pure luck or fate, a gate of darkness opened under him before the heartless were in reach. The boy was consumed whole within the portal’s dark energy and just as soon as it had appeared, the portal closed just as fast.

The castle was a familiar place to the rogue. Beyond the countless hours he had spent going over escape routes, memorizing its passages, floors, and corridors, most of which was spent asleep and being scolded by Blank for being inconsiderate to the Nero Brothers (and Sister's) hard work in gathering the information; Zidane also had a personal familiarity as he stole away to here many nights to woo the local Queen or sneak off with her to the mini-theater for a drink and show. Now it felt as if he was trespassing with these creatures roaming the walls making them unfamiliar to him. When he turned around at the sound of the monstrous STOMP Akemi was gone! Zidane's tail bristled as he nearly hit the ground running as he dashed along the narrow length of roof along the rookery and would set off before launching himself up and drop kicking the stone-skinned minion of darkness. "Get outta here!" The Rouge demanded, but as he turned around to look for the cat-eared heroine she too was gone. " Damn!" These Heartless were really starting to get on his nerves. It wasn't until after the last Festival Hunt did these things start arriving in droves. He wasn't sure if it had been the machinations of that mad scientist that always seemed to find creepier and creepier monsters or it had been that day he had faced off Armarant trying to get him to better understand that he could no longer just throw down at a moment's notice. Maybe they had been right in their goading and Zidane had changed, but that didn't mean he stopped caring for his friends or those around him, nor that he wasn't capable of picking up his blade when it called for it. He never stopped training because that meant that if one day something terrible came back from their past he wouldn't be able to stand by Dagger anymore. And maybe it was fear of loss, or the courage to protect what was important to him: but he knew he had to make sure these Heartless stopped hurting the people around him he cared about! As Zidane searched for the vanished adventurer the curb-stomped Gargoyle regained his footing, wings barely keeping him on the edge of the roof. He would turn around and lunge for Zidane: whose back was turned searching for his comrades in arms. MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS
