FORUM RULES
- This Forum's Rating: T for Teen
Themes - No inappropriate themes are allowed. Political [discussing fictional royalty and governments] and Religious [Yevon from FFX] discussions are allowed, but not real-world aspects. This is not the place to be bringing up real world issues.
Violence - Minor to moderate blood is allowed, such as scars and oozing wounds during battle. However, extreme violence/blood/gore is not.
Nudity - Scantily-clad characters that are in-theme, such as Cloud of Darkness or Zack in swimming trunks is fine. However, full or partial nudity is not.
Sensuality - Friendly connotations are allowed. Occasional innuendos are allowed and 'adult' comments are also allowed. However, excessive use and full descriptive discussions are not allowed. Sexual content is also not allowed.
Language - If your character is known for cursing, please do your best to bleep out words (ex: Son of a $@&%!) and keep the cursing to a minimum. Mild language is allowed, as well as singular expressive swearing. Anything worse than that, racial slurs, or sexual innuendos is not acceptable. However, there are some exceptions to this rule [Cid Highwind, Barret, Reno, Don Corneo, etc]. - Please Role-play in “Story Format” or Third Person.
Story Format is best described as writing a book. Please use quotations when your character is talking. Do not use asterisks (*) or anything else to mark when your character is doing an action. If possible, please highlight what your character is saying in a color like in the example below. It makes it much easier to see when your character is talking. Ability used should be described, as well as listing the power name, in your post. Highlighting or bolding the ability would also be preferable. This way, no one can miss the ability being used in the attack. If you'd like, you may add an note OOC at the bottom of your post with a summary of what the power can do including status effects. This way, a member has no excuse for missing a status effect associated with a power.- Example: Larxene smirked. "I thought I would find you here, traitor." With one swift motion, she summoned her kunais and raised her arm to cast Lightningon the field.
- No one Liners!
This is allowed in the discussion and OOC areas. However, this is not allowed in-character during roleplays. It can be extremely disappointing opening a thread to find that the person you are role-playing with replied with only a couple of words.
[This rule is STRICTLY enforced] - Check your spelling + grammar.
Proper grammar and spelling is highly encouraged. There is a spell-check tool on the site available for everyone's use. - No God-Modding | Powerplaying | Metagaming | Player-Killing
Godmodding in its simplest terms is controlling another player's character without their permission. By imposing your will on their character without their permission, you are gaining 'godlike' or 'divine' powers, hence the origin of the term.
Powerplaying is when a player manipulates their character's abilities, powers or skills so that their character always has an advantage in the situation. Powerplaying is most often confused with godmodding, and while the two are quite close, the difference between them is that godmodding is more controlling the other players character, while powerplaying is focused on your own character and manipulating the scene through them.
Metagaming is playing with knowledge beyond the scope of the present game, plot, or scene. All roleplayers are at some point privy to information as the player that realistically their character would not yet know in game.
Character killing is not allowed. You may only kill another character if the owner of the character allows you kill them off. You should notify the staff in any case that one character is going to be killed by another.
[First offense is a warning - Credit to RPG-D] - No Cybering [Internet Sex]
This includes obscene pictures, roleplay, or themes of any kind on site or in the discord chat.
[First offense may result in a 5 day banning] - No Flaming
Flaming is any hostile or rude interaction between two members. This includes member/member, member/staff, and staff/staff. Rather than argue, if you have a question or suggestion concerning the board, you should either post it in the Feedback section or let the staff know about it via private message. We will respond as soon as we are able. - Place Ads in the appropriate area, nowhere else!
If any ads are placed in the wrong board, the staff will delete it. Advertising via PM system is also against the rules. If you get a pm advertising another site, please report this to a staff member!
[First offense could result in a permanent ban] - The password
is '99 Dalmatians'. By placing this password in your profile, you are saying that you agree with the site rules. - No Profile - No Roleplay
Don't post or reply to any role-playing threads until your profile has been approved by a staff member. You may only post in the Member's Hangout/OOC sections until a staff member approves your profile. This includes any c-box role-plays that may be in session - Characters Limit
Each character should have a separate account. Because we advocate activity, you should be able to keep up with all characters on the site. You will be able to start with up to six characters. You'll unlock a 7th slot upon your 1st anniversary at KHMM. You are also allowed one Pixar/Disney character as a free slot in celebration of the Kingdom Hearts 3 release. Additional character slots can be purchased in the Mog Shop.
A] Canon Characters: Characters in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, Disney Animation Studio franchise, Final Fantasy franchise, and The World Ends with you franchise are applicable canons at KHMM. Pixar characters from worlds that are in any Kingdom Hearts game are allowed. Other Pixar characters will be approved on a case by case basis. We do not permit the following: Star Wars or other Square Enix. We are well aware that they are either affiliated with or subsidiaries of the main companies responsible for the Kingdom Heart series. However, they are not allowed on the forum. Any changes will be made according to staff discretion and the transition of the Kingdom Hearts series.
You are permitted to apply for any former Organization XIII Members, but it is your responsibility to explain their fate and return if not canonly explained. Due to the events of KH DDD, the Organization XIII has been disbanded. For more information on canon characters, please read our FAQ before contacting a staff for clarifications.
B] Original Characters: There is a three character limit on Original Characters. We love to see balanced profiles for all pending Original characters. Please remember this is a Kingdom Hearts site, so make sure your character fits the universe and use that to figure out his/her story during creation.
Please do not make the most powerful character off the bat. All character, be it OC or canon, can purchase abilities in our Mog's ability and weapon shop. If you start with a canon character and reach one hundred posts, your next Original Character can start with extra abilities added to your initial ten.
For more information on Original Characters, review the Original Character Template. - Two People - One IP Address
We do not expect to see the same person claiming to be two different people. However, we are aware there are instances where a sibling is on the site with the same IP. Only the member who owns their characters may contact the staff about anything concerning their respective accounts. - Avatar/Signature Rule
It is recommended that you have a Signature and Avatar graphics for each account. In addition, your avatar/signature must fit your character. For example, a Namine cannot have a Sora avatar and Sora cannot have a Namine graphic. If you want graphics for your character, then you should make a request HERE. - Applying for Staff
To inquire about open staff positions, you should pm an administrator. However, most staff openings will be announced publicly. - Additions and Adjustments to the Rules
If the rules are updated or added, everyone will be notified by mass pm. Admins are able to give lighter or heavier punishments to those members, depending on what they did, no questions asked. Admins may also make edits to the rules when they see fit, but will always announce them if they are changed. - Completing and Closing a Thread
To do this, you must place, in bold -Exit Thread- at the bottom of your post. When everyone exits the thread, the last person in the thread should post, in bold, -End Thread-. The last person to reply to the thread must pm a staff member that the topic has ended and the staff member will lock and move your thread(s) to the Completed Thread Archive.
Closing a thread will give members in the thread 30 munny for finishing it. If you hit or go over 20 total posts in the thread, you will be awarded 20 additional munny. Threads must be closed properly and staff must be notified to be awarded the munny. - Exiting Threads - Inactivity
It is proper etiquette to post an exit when you lose muse for a thread and know that you do not want or plan to continue. These exit posts must follow all site rules and be enough for the other members in the thread to work with. If a member has not posted within 14 days, other roleplayers in that thread have the right to skip the inactive in the thread. After 30 days of thread inactivity, (usually one on one threads), the member will be contacted by a staff member and asked to post an exit. If that member has not posted within a month of being notified, a staff member will post an exit thread for the member and said member can be fined up to 50 munny as well as having any munny earned from posting in said thread removed from their account. An exception to this rule is if the member has a vacation thread and is unable to post. Any Event/Mirage Arena based thread will follow Mirage Arena posting guidelines and is at the discretion of the staff running it. - Stealing
That includes, but is not limited to, personal poems, Fanfics, Graphics, and Templates. If it is not yours, do not take it and claim it as your own! If you do use another’s work, credit them after asking for permission to use it. If they say no, then no you may not use it. The real code for your profile is 'Circle of Life'. Do not mention '99 Dalmatians' in your Profile at all!
This includes the site's templates, layout, and documents, such as the rules. All theft will be highly punishable. - Activity Checks
These are a way to remove inactive members from the forum and free up characters. These start on the 15th of every month and last till the 23rd of the month. Everyone must post in it or pm an admin. You will be deleted, unless you have already posted in the Vacation Area or the Activity Check thread! - Activity Checks - Inactivity
As of June 1st 2018, members will have to have at least one in character post within the last 60 days to be able to post a character as safe on the Activity Check. If you do not have at least one post, then you will need to release the character for other members to be able to apply for them. If no one has picked up the character, you may reapply for the character after 30 days. This rule is to prevent character hogging. An exceptions to this rule is vacations making the member unable to post. - Dropping Characters
Dropping Characters can happen sometimes. You might lose muse for the character or not be able to keep up with your current character load. It is requested that you do your best to complete or exit any threads you are in and notify your role playing partners out of courtesy about your intentions of dropping the character. [At the staff's discretion, doing all of the above may prevent any restriction on your current number of character slots or ability to apply for new characters.]
If two characters are dropped by the same member within a four month period, you will lose the ability to apply for another character for four months. Dropping a character includes dropping/losing characters through the Activity Check. For any additional characters dropped, your allotted character slots will be restricted to your current number of active characters, preventing you from applying for new characters. This includes currently in progress applications. So, if you had three characters and dropped one, you would be restricted to the two you have left. You can regain a character slot back with every two months of activity on the site without dropping a character. You cannot purchase additional slots until you regain all your slots back.Extenuating circumstances may be taken into account on a case by case basis by staff. - Relationships With Canon Characters
We do not allow non-canon relationships on KHMM. They must be hinted at or confirmed in the games for them to be accepted on the forum. This means no Leon/Garnet or Sora/Yuna. Original relationships between Original Characters are fine, however, as well as built relationships with canons that have no canon relationships hinted at all. - NPCs
These are considered to be any character that has not been applied for on the site. This includes some canons, innkeepers, heartless, or even a random civilian. They may be used in role-plays from time to time, but don't go overboard and use them as much as you would your own character. If you do tend to overuse an NPC, you should consider applying for them so you may continue role-playing with them. On the other hand, if you want your character to role-play with the NPC, then you should ask someone else to apply for this character. This avoids you having to role-play with yourself. If your character has another character that is dependent on yours, such as Xehanort Heartless's Guardian, then you may use them without applying for the character.
This is our rule of thumb when you are using an NPC. The more independent the NPC is, the more it is considered a normal character than an NPC. Use common sense. If you are unsure, ask a staff member. - Temporarily Played NPC's
Occasionally, it may become necessary to have your character speak with someone for your personal plot. However, that other character may not have been applied for on the board. The situation may also arise that an open character may be required for a site plot or event. In these situations, you can request someone to roleplay this character for you to further your plot. This is allowed on a limited basis and the NPC Rule applies to this. [Idea Suggestion - Frost] - New accounts must make a post within seven days of joining or it may be deleted.
- Voting
All members on the board with an approved character are allowed to participate in the Monthly Polls. These include, but aren't limited to, the Member of the Month Poll and the Contest Polls. When voting, you may have only one vote. You may not vote with each character, just one of your characters. Using more than one of your character accounts to sway the poll in one direction is a form of cheating. - Off-Site Drama
Bringing drama that happens off-site to the boards or chat-box is against the rules. There are some exceptions such as talking about your bad day or stressing about your job/test. Just please do not go overboard. If you have any drama you would like to discuss, you may pm a staff member to talk it over or talk to someone over an Instant Messenger.
[First offense will result in a warning. If it continues, a 5 day ban from the site and box will occur.] - Harassment/Off-Site
Any off-site communication can be reported to the administrator if a member KHMM is harassing you off-site. This includes, but is not limited to, other forums, private messages, email, etc. If a members is stalking or harassing you off-site, you can report this. These will be judged on a case to case basis. We recommend that you report any stalking and/or harassment to the proper authorities.
1st Offense: Written Warning and debarment from future staff positions. If the one found guilty is a staff member they will be removed.
2nd Offense: Two week suspension of all characters from the site. This also includes debarment from staff and a warning.
3rd Offense: Automatic permanent site ban. This includes being banned from the c-box as well.
*Depending on severity and number of victims, the staff reserves the right to skip to more severe punishments.
Punishments
- First Offense- You will be corrected on the post or through a private message.
- Second Offense - The admin will send you a private message warning you not to do it again.
- Third Offense - You will be banned for a few days from the forum.
- Fourth Offense- You will be banned for a month from the forum.
- Fifth Offense- You will be banned forever.
The staff of Malefic Musings reserves the right to rule upon any and all other subjects not included in the rules above.
