But, that won't stop me from pushing myself to win this match. I have quite a bit riding on this and I have no intention of failing." He needed to win this match to gain some recognition. If they managed that, they could get the intelligence necessary to find their friends. That included Terra. The playboy king had quite a soft spot for the half esper girl. He did not plan on letting her down. Not now.
It was a bit of a disappointment to see his arrow miss Gilgamesh, but it was rather expected. There was nothing special about his crossbow or the arrows that filled it. Though, it was a compliment from Gilgamesh that he was finally admitting the King's strength. After being smacked with Locke's attacks. Both Edgar and Locke had fought Kefka, a self proclaimed God, and won. Though, not alone. He did have his comrades at his side when they finally bested the clown. This time they were on their own. But, these two were nothing compared to Kefka at his full strength.
Edgar's eyes shifted to the color of the fire that had enchanted the warrior's arm. It was hard to believe that these two could use such magic, yet not be espers themselves. There was no way that they had killed that many espers to gain the powers for themselves. How could magic be different for other worlds? This did seem proof of Gilgamesh's words. The aura he was now giving off was very different. He had regrown an arm, summoned another blade, and was now upping his game. But, Edgar could handle this. He didn't waste his breath speaking in response to the insult. Gilgamesh had admitted their strength and Edgar intended to show his true strength now.
He took the full impact from Gilgamesh's attack, having prepared himself for this after his last attack. His mind instantly pulled back to this fight from the discomfort that Terra's father had caused him. Though, he wasn't expecting to get hit from the two magical attacks as well. He could feel his health was dwindling dangerously after the attacks, even with his protective gear. He could practically still feel the lightning charging through his fingers. It certainly wasn't pleasant. But, it was far from enough to kill him. He had fallen to a knee to try and keep himself from being knocked back by Gilgamesh's attack when he stood to his feet and felt his strength recover with the ability he'd learned during his quests. Valor, quite fitting for a king. It was likely the reason he'd agreed to learn it. He stood and raised his arm, knowing that he could use his Desperation Attacks now, with his health as low as it was.
But, he'd made sure that he doubled the affects of his attack. "We are certainly worth the effort. I'm sorry, though. This might hurt a bit." He warned that man as he closed his eyes, opening his hand to cause eight bright lights to shoot up from the ground underneath and around Gilgamesh. Valor doubling the effectiveness of the attack. Edgar could feel the strength leave him as valor transferred over to the attack and he fell to a knee again, using his lance to keep from stumbling.
That is when he felt a very familiar warmth cross over him. "...Locke..... Thanks." He smiled softly as he felt his wounds heal considerably. It was a nice feeling and he knew he would need to be prepared. He decided to take a more offensive stance. With his desperation attack, Locke's desperation attack, and his summon, he figured he'd have a bit of an opening as the fire cleared. He advanced backwards towards locke, lance gripped tightly in one hand as he raised his arm to cast Bolt on the hopefully injured Rojo. They needed to get rid of the healer first. Then the could get rid of Gilgamesh as his healer would be out of the mix.
Edgar is damaged by Thundaga, Blizzaga, and Razor Wind, but did brace himself for the attacks.
1) Cast Valor on himself to boost his attack strength.
2) Used his desperation attack on Gilg, strength doubled because of valor.
3) Cast Bolt on Rojo
Valor - This ability is used to double the power of next attack. It counts as an ability used.

Royal Shock - When Edgar is backed into a corner, he can summon light rays to attack a target and cause a decent amount of damage.
