I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky. As impressive and well made as the selection of clothing was, there was just something truly odd about this place and Nil was having a hard time placing it. It wasn't like he had much experience in a place like this, but as he browsed the various aisles full of long coats and jackets and vests — occasionally pausing to look over one that caught his fancy, like the lovely violet mantle with white sleeves — he couldn't shake the feeling of being watched. And it wasn't his worry that someone was staring at him because he was an oddity, no that was still there but this was different. He furrowed his brow behind his mask as he tried to parse the feeling. It was as though someone was sizing him up or...measuring him. Beneath his hood an ear would flick as Zidane grabbed his attention away from his pondering. "Huh?" Nil glanced up from the mantle he was looking over, carefully pulling it's hanger from the rack only to find there was more to the outfit than that. It seemed to include a curious 'robe' of sorts with four straps to hold it up, along with some dark purple boots. The behemoth looked the outfit over with a tilt of his head, he might just ask Zidane if they could get this one! Wandering to his friend's side he looked Zidane's outfit over, tilting his head to and fro. It was...pretty difficult to tell much of a difference, but would it be rude to say so? Probably, best to opt for the safer route then go for the more obvious bit. The boy would nod his head. "I think it looks good! The sweater looks pretty comfy too. I think I found an outfit I like, what do you think?" the behemoth would hand the outfit over to Zidane, wiggling excitedly. He was certain he'd picked a winner for himself. While letting Zidane judge his fashion sense, something out of the corner of Nil's eye stole his attention. Slowly he stepped his way over to the furs and stared at them. They looked like...no, surely not. There was no scent to them! They just smelled like, well, fabric. Fake and clothy! There was no scent. They weren't really real. What a silly thought to cross his mind. He shook his head, but still carefully compared the frock to his own fur colour. It matched well enough that were Nil to wear one, one would be forgiven for mistaking it as a part of the behemoth himself! "Zidane, do this seems a little...odd to you?" he would ask of his friend, showing off the comparison between fur and frock. Meanwhile the attendant had drawn closer under the guise of tending to an aisle, two aisles down. Or, perhaps he was simply doing his job?...Whatever the case may be his gaze would still pass over towards Nil now and again, leaving the behemoth with that still lingering feeling of being watched that he couldn't quite figure out... Zidane seemed charmed with himself as he checked himself out in the mirror. The rogue didn't usually dress up, but when he did it was to show off. He wanted to find something real fancy that would tickle Dagger, and make those nobles eat their words. Sure he wasn't some high born but he knew he wanted to make Dagger happy. If she wanted to marry him and make him a prince, well that was a bonus! He didn't care about the riches, or take, but being able to spend the rest of his life with his queen…
He was startled our of his thoughts by Nil's query. He leaned back, tail wrapping around the door frame so he could reach. His right hand gripped the edge of the wall as he lazily slung, blue eyes squinting at the familiar looking pelt. The Bohemian was no Fashion Leader, so he could hardly commit a positive, or knowing, response to the question. But he has to reassure his buddy that his choices, whatever they may be: mattered.
"Hell if I know big guy, but if you think it's cool I'll back you up." It was the fashion blind leading the blind in a game of catch up."Perhaps I could help…" a scraggly voice wiggled from the shadows. The creeping attendant had, at one point, approached the pair, mere inches from them with his hands clamped together with a bright patch of pink hair and big blue colored sunglasses. His outfit looked as if Wonderland itself exploded on him with parachute pants of black and yellow checkerboard and a blouse that had enough shoulder pads for an airplane to take off from. He wore a cape of fur that were suspiciously spotted and pointed black shoes that could pierce a toddler's balloon. And he looked like a guy that'd do it too! MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky. Nil was practically beaming, grinning from ear to ear behind that mask of his. He was just so...so unused to knowing someone so supportive!...Or anyone besides his M...His former Master. But still! It gave him the warm fuzzies inside and out. Not that he really needed help on the latter half, covered in the smooth fur that he was. "Thanks a lot Zidane, your help really means a lot to m-EEK!" a startled squeak of surprise escaped Nil as a new voice snuck its way into the conversation, causing him the behemoth to jump in surprise and scurry behind Zidane, his heart beating a mile a minute as he peeked over the rogue's shoulder at the salesperson. How could someone who looked so loud be so sneaky? Was this what was fashionable?...Boy he really hoped not. Still hunched down behind Zidane, Nil would tilt his head at his companion. "Uhm. I guess he runs the shop then right?" he would ask Zidane, glancing back and forth between the young man and the ostentatious attendant. Well, if the guy worked here, surely he'd know a thing or two about what looks good on who right? MADE BY VEL OF GS

Zidane would walk to hell and back if Nil needed him to, the rogue was just that sort of guy! Maybe it was his nature or maybe it was an inescapable desire to be wanted by your friends! Garland would have him think that he was a murderous monster with a penchant for destruction, but Zidane never felt any urge to destroy someone, even when he was on the losing side of a bet! Sure maybe slug a dude, but that was a competitive nature encouraged by several brothers who took to fighting over every lost cause including spilled beer! They were rough and rowdy rogues that liked to wrassle, nothing world exploding about that! Zidane was as lost as Nil was. While he was no fashionista, to say the least, he had at least the sense to wear like colors. This guy looked like he had three shades of purple on, some pink and that was probably yellow! The rogue doubted he had any sense to him, let alone fashion but if he ran the shop they supposed there was no harm to it! Putting his hands on his hips and gave a nod, motioning his gloved hand. " Alright, let's see what you've got!" Almost as if giving permission to a mad scientist the store owner all but slithered to the back rooms and returned with armfuls of fabric that looked to be from every walk of life! Polka Dots, spots, stripes, squares, solids, and everything in between if one could believe it! He dumped the pile of fabrics onto the two and dove in like a rabid jaguar and would attempt to bind and bundle Nil and all manner of pants, robes, socks and horn accessories that he could muster with his slender form and Nil's more beastkin build. They would try on shirts, dresses, hoodies, low necks, v-necks, skirts, shawls, cargo pants, evening gowns, shorts, bathing suits, jackets, wizard caps, pantaloon straps and various kinds of sashes, obi, and scarves to boot! Zidane sat squat on a bench and pondered the vintage bohemian rags, the sophisticated preppy garbs and casual chic ardor, but nothing seemed to hit Nil just right. It was all too... " Old school." He'd regard one style. " Pompous." He'd declare another as he stood up in the bench, stomping his boot on a nearby mannequin. " We need something hip--" He snapped. The shopkeep perked up amidst his brutal deflowering of Nil's fashion sense. " Hip?" He mimed. Zidane looked to the man and pointed at him with his forefinger, thumb in the air. " Something brave." The salesman leaned in, his ear outstretched to the rogue as he grew interested in where this was going. " Brave, heroic?" He would add finding the vagabond a curiosity. Zidane jumped down and grabbed a pair of flip flops from the shelf and juggled them with a pair of boots. " Something that screams --" Zidane paused for effect after he tossed the flip-flops to Nil and held out his arms in dramatic flair. " A charming, laidback modern bohemian!" The salesman's eyes widened as he knew just what to bring and in a flash the man would return with a pair of jeans, a loose blue shirt that matched the flip-flops Zidane threw to Nil. The salesman and Zidane would wait with bated breath for the Behemoth to dress. MADE BY ★MEULK OF GS

I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky. Nil didn't even have a split second of time to react! A fashionable flurry was foisted upon him faster than a flash! It was more than a bit disorienting, intimidating even. But the de-masked and disrobed slash re-robed slash disrobed and rerobed again behemoth stood dutifully albeit awkwardly as the store owner slapdashed him into all manners of outfits and costumes and robes and...wasn't that one just like his but a different shade of black?...Eh nevermind. There were so many shapes and colours and fabrics that Nil could hardly keep track of anything he liked. He did spot a few things in the fray that he liked, but as he was about to comment, yet another outfit was presented to him, actually giving him the chance to put the clothes on. Looking back and forth between the pants and shirt, the behemoth tilted his head one way and then the other. Eventually nodding as he managed to figure out how to get the shirt on with one paw and hold the pants in the other...The buttons on the other other paw were a bit...tricky. And he managed to button them crooked. Somehow though he got the pants on the right way and not backwards! What an accomplishment. They were a bit snug though, not quite skin tight and not uncomfortable. Flattering at least. And lastly his wiggly paws were slipped into the flopflops Zidane had presented. Clothed yet again, Nil rubbed the back of his head with an awkward smile. "So, how do I look?"MADE BY VEL OF GS

The cacophony of dress rehearsal was hardly beyond the Genome's experience. If nothing else it gave him a smug sense of pride no longer being the understudy. Shifting his weight back his tail would naturally shift to act like a third limb to help support the youthful actor as he pondered the precarious pierrot of a salesman. Something about the fellow gave Zidane a distinct sense of caution, but nothing that warranted the drawing of his blade or the need of a quick escape. Honestly it did not seem all that unusual for a seamstress or tailor to be a little mad and authentically eccentric as it made them all the better at their roles, whatever one wished to call it: artistry or controlled madness. In that moment of quiet as Nil found his footing heck even found the foot hole in his pants: he couldn't help but reflect on their reasoning behind this. Surely to better woo the wandering eyes of ladies one needed to dress well and dapper, but what had been a proper off putting sensation was the cloak. As a brigand and a general fellow of no-do-goodery on the rare occasion the dark robes often lent to a sense of danger, one that only grew with instances of Heartless roaming the landscape. It was probably best to make the kid more approachable! He really hated worrying about silly things like that, because it didn't matter to him if folk gawked at him, or pointed and jeered. He could beat them at their own game and in a street fight any day! But Nil... Nil seemed the sort to not want to miss out on making friends. The rogue reached up and rubbed the back of his neck as the hairs stood on end. The quiver of an ill-gotten memory crept up quickly. He couldn't blame Nil. There was a time when he always wanted to fit in and always ended up in fights with his brothers when he couldn't get his way! Maturity was fleeting at such a young age, but he supposed he grew into himself and relaxed. At least it was what he told himself, but were one to ask Baku the old mole bat would definitely deny the brigand's bravado and assure he was as witless as ever! Blank would, as the eldest of the group, berate the concept as a childish charity to deem the rambunctious rogue grown, naught but a rat's ass, one would quote! Were Marcus allowed a word in edgewise he would prove the precarious pride of the prickly poet, a bard who knew not of his own limitations. And, of course, our well rounded Ruby denied any measure of marked growth beyond finally being able to fit in his pants! The Nero siblings, of course, hailed their hearty comrade, but limited their commentary as, to the contrary, they were most brutal and could not stand to damage the diva's ego. Cinna -- well Cinna knew his place. While he would not condemn Zidane's flagrant flirting, he could admit that, despite the childish wiles, the overgrown brat, underseasoned adventurer, and immature demeanor -- of all of them he was perhaps the most honest. And it made him a terrible thief. Nil's call roused Zidane from his shifted mood. The rogue pushed forward as the tip of his tail found purchase on a nearby wall. Moving to stand straight he would beholden Nil's new robes, of sorts. The cheeky Genome began to laugh as he held out his arms. " Well you're no Emperor, huh!?" The reference far beyond the grasp of non-thespians. " I gotta say you'll get way more girls to notice you this way!" The rogue walked up to him, left arm outstretched, before it would come down in a heavy pat against the Behemoth's shoulder. " Now that you're all decked out, let's head to the Fifth District! I heard they have a theater there!" Zidane went on with his one track mind only for the shopkeep to clear his throat and dramatically open the flap of his jacket. With a flourish the fellow would pull out a sheet of paper before flicking it open, only for it to comically unfold, over and over, nearly bowling over the Behemoth and Genome. The obnoxiously long bit of paper came to a stop at their feet, the start of the roll still pinched in the tailor's fingers. Zidane's brows furrowed as he crouched down and picked up the tail end of it with the ends of his fingers, as if it was some cursed document. He wasn't far off. " ...and as for the bill...." " Excuse you?!" Zidane barked out as the number of zeros far exceeded his own lengthy patience. " How many zeros are there?!" Even the end of the paper Zidane had made it difficult to count as the conspicuous digits were scrawled up and up the paper, a dragon's length between the shopkeep and the adventurers. " Does this much gil even exist?!" " Munny." The tailor correct. " I don't know you, don't call me honey." Zidane snapped back with a sneer as he glared at the sinful bit of paper. The shopkeep was momentarily stunned by the stupidity and ignored the twitch of his eyebrow as he collected his thoughts. " ...." Temptation to add more zeros was given pause. " Munny. That is the currency we use here. Don't tell me you don't have the means to pay...?" Zidane shot up like a bolt, of lightning that is, and held up his hand. " Whoa now. Of course we do. We didn't come to a place like this, unprepared! What do you take me for!? In fact I work in the Theater District, ten shows a night! Of course I'm good for it!" With the dramatic movements the rogue made it was quite believable that the bard has some sort of stage training, but having the funds to pay such an exorbitant fee was another matter altogether! Zidane turned to Nil, both his hands on the young beast's shoulders. A soft smile was painted on the thief's soft features. His cheeks were warm and his gloved hands gripped the Behemoth's shoulders with a firm assurance. " Anything for my buddy here --" Though Zidane began to speak something strange would happen. Perhaps it was the time spent with the rambunctious rogue, or the raising experience in his time alone but there was definitely something behind the man's words because what Zidane was saying was not what he meant... One need only listen closely. Zidane's eyes pinched closed as he continued to smile. " Nil knows I have his back...( Buddy I won't leave you behind). Besides such a paltry sum to make him ready for his debut to the world... ( I can't afford this shit, buddy you need to be ready.) Make sure you have everything with you and I'll pay the man before we head out... ( Grab your stuff, we're running.)" Zidane would turn around, adjusting his belts. Ashe walked toward the shopkeep he would curl his tail over Nil's robes and toss it back to the young man. Zid would reach into his satchel and draw from it a single gil, handing it over to the man, only to earn a queer glance. " That's a 100 gil coin. Now normally I don't part with such a treasure, but for Nil... my man deserves the best!" The shop keep gave Zidane a sour look as the coin sat in the palm of his hand. " This is a joke, right boy?" He sounded cross. Zidane motioned to Nil before offering the tailor a quick snap of his thumbs. " You bet!" Zidane had plenty in his Bag of Tricks and it was a roll of the dice as to which one was set off! A click was heard. " RUN!" Zidane turned on a gil and hit the ground running. His tail was frizzed up as he dashed out of the shop with inhuman speed! ============== Bag of Tricks -3 Post Cooldown : A bag that appears to be empty, but when reaching inside the thief knows where to quickly locate hidden objects. I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly I'll do what it takes till I touch the sky. Nil tilted his head curiously, a smile still resting on the perplexed behemoths face. An Emperor? Was it a good thing he wasn't one? Or bad? It sounded like maybe a good thing, since Zidane kept up a cheery little laugh the whole while. The joy his new friend had was really so contagious! His tail was swishing behind him more than it ever had before... he hoped he wouldn't end up spraining it. His cheeks were hurting from smiling so much too. That's okay though, it was a good problem to have. He was long since tired of hiding how he felt and he'd only been away from 'home' for a day at best! Things really were starting to look up for hi- The train of thought was completely derailed as a sudden sheet of paper was thrust between the two of them, close enough to the behemoth's face originally that he had gone cross eyed trying to even see beyond a whirling swirling cascade of zeroes rolling down the length of the paper. Shaking his head quickly, causing his ears to flop comically for a moment, Nil glanced between Zidane and the shopkeeper as they debated. Something about honey munny? It was difficult to keep as the two went back and forth, and so the behemoth waited patiently, head tilted like a puppy again before Zidane gently but firmly grasped at his shoulders. Once more those ears flicked as Zidane spoke, Nil didn't know much about doublespeak, per se, but he was always an attentive listener. He had to be. His Master wouldn't tolerate otherwise... Nevertheless, the behemoth slowly nodded his head and smiled. So Zidane couldn't afford it all right now and so they were going to run to get more to pay for it! That made sense. Well, grabbing up the robe he didn't quite manage to catch, Nil would scoop up a couple of the other outfits that he had liked from the pile as well, folding them neatly and hugging them in an arm before... "RUN!"Run? Oh! Right! Run! Dropping down to three of his fours, arm still wrapped tight around those nicely folded clothes, Nil was off like a shot not long after Zidane, just in time too it seemed! As only a moment later there was a fweeee...PING! as the door closed behind them, Zidane's little trick would leave the shopkeep's ears ringing for days, let alone the neighbors. Plodding along swiftly after Zidane, Nil finally spoke up. "Is this how shopping normally goes?"MADE BY VEL OF GS
