C assialyn mimicked the movement fine. Or, so she believed. Dieter's fists dropped as he stepped forward and made a few movements. She was a bit confused by the whole situation. She had no idea that he was going to do what he did. He moved his foot to pull her's forward. Thankfully, she had the balance as she adjusted to his movement. She didn't like how the stance felt. He moved his hand to her shoulder and shifted them so they even. She rolled them a bit to adjust before he took both her hands and tightened her fists. She made a bit of a face as he did so. This was far from comfortable. She felt tense as she tried to loosen up a little without conflicting with the adjustments he had made. That's when he spoke up and explained his actions. So she needed to be more rigid. Okay. Yeah. That made sense she guessed. She tightened up a bit what she had relaxed moments before as she watched the man. Dieter than began to move. His hand moved behind her while his foot moved forward. Cass watched his movements as she stayed in position. She was really wondering what he was doing. It was odd, but she didn't really mind how close he was. That is, until his next actions. He pulled his foot and pushed her shoulder back and away from him. She felt herself lose her balance as she fell backwards. She had pushed her hand back to catch herself, but Dieter managed to do that for her. She blinked at him before smacking his arm. "Hey. You could have warned me we were starting..." She half huffed, he cheeks getting red at his actions. She hated being caught off guard like that. The man explained the reasoning and purpose of the actions. It really didn't make things that much better. Cass wriggled a bit to get up and away from his grasp before she shifted back into the form he'd just shown her. She really didn't like how rigid she had to be to handle herself in this manner. But, it probably would make more sense with her dancing skill. She was just a bit flustered at the moment. She could have totally caught her balance if she knew what was coming. Or, probably have been able to move out of such a situation. She could be agile when she wanted to be. "Now what...." She asked. She was ready for this. Dieter Wolfram

| The Dark Knight’s verdant eyes darkened, narrowing as Cassialyn instinctively extended her arms backwards in hopes of catching herself. Her reflexes truly are impressive. His attention shifted downwards seamlessly transitioning from her aghast expression to her outstretched arm. He’d took the liberty to study its’ positioning and discern if she’d have sustained further injuries if she’d attempted to catch herself. No doubt, those whom had taught her how to dance had also taught her a series of methods to properly break fall – Dancers’ fancier shoes sacrifice practically for flair. He’d was so enraptured with his thoughts, Dieter didn’t realize that Cassialyn’s hand was arcing out towards his arm until the resounding smack echoed throughout the courtyard. “I suppose, however, if you were expecting it you might have reacted differently.”
He’d stated as he’d let Cassialyn extract herself from his embrace, studying Cassialyn as she’d reassumed the stance he’d just shown her – recreating the minor corrections he’d done just a few seconds prior. Though, she’d executed the stance with ease, Dieter couldn’t help but sense her discomfort. It was to be expected though, she was opposing the natural grace that her training as a Dancer had engrained into her muscles. Dieter undergone a similar tribulation in his past, transitioning from a hunk of shattered metal to his precious sword – not to mention dropping the habit of trying to rend enemies with his claws. If Cassialyn paid attention to Dieter’s face, she’d no doubt notice that he had visibly blanched.
Belias’ methods were quite unorthodox, but they’d followed a very simple principle – pain retains. When Cassialyn inquired about what they were doing next, he’d only smiled darkly.
“ That depends on you, I can teach you some basic self-defense techniques, we can go over basic attack patterns. Regardless of the route, your final test for this will actually be applying what I’ve shown you.”

C ass had been too caught up in the whole situation that she had not even realized that his eyes darkened and narrowed to evaluate her actions. All she had known was that she was falling and she had to catch herself. Her reflexes, flexibility as well as her memory were rather good. Everything else about her needed work. She had little to no strength or speed. Her stamina was not all that great either. But, she managed and adapted. The only reason her weaknesses were more apparent was that Dieter was forcing her to try things outside her comfort zone and ability. She'd smacked him without much acknowledgement. Though, she really didn't expect anything. She hadn't really hit him that hard. It was more a reaction from his actions. She didn't like being caught off guard like that. In battle it was one thing. But, in practice it was another. Cassialyn watched and waited as he explained that she would have probably reacted differently if she knew it was coming. "....well yeah...." She answered, though Dieter was not really asking a question. This was not what she expected out of the day. She expected to be napping till after sunrise and get up to a lighter day then this. But, having woken up a bit she was feeling a little more energized than she originally had been. The adrenaline of the situation helping a bit. She was ready to go and get this over with. The young dancer's eyes studied his expression as he situated himself after his escape. He almost seemed to pale a bit. As she opened her mouth to ask if he was okay, his smile seemed to darken a bit. It almost made Cass's hairs stand up with the way he smiled at her. She most certainly didn't like that at all. "Test?......" She half asked, knowing she probably was not going to get an answer. She simply braced herself, standing in position. She figured that he was going to make the same movement he'd just shown her. Or something similar. She would just have to be prepared. The young woman had a bit of concern on her face with how he seemed to be watching her. But he wouldn't harm her.... right?

| The Dark Knight had learned much about the fabled “Art of War” over the centuries, his most shocking discovery was that one’s strength mattered naught. He’d witnessed the fall of vast armies firsthand, their entire ranks brought to their death by a singular individual. Why was this significant? Said person had never stepped a single foot upon the battlefield, no he’d sat behind a crude desk and formulated strategies – a well-versed tactician. Why did this matter? Well, it’d circumnavigated back to the point that the Archdaemon was about to explain to Cassialyn.
“Yes, a test, when we are done, you have one job, to bring me to knees… how you do so is up to you… I’ll give you a hint, strength isn’t always the answer.”
His hint was cryptic, but it was intended to be so. After all, Dieter refused to inform Cassialyn that her test had long since begun. He’d reached out and tucked a section of his hoary tresses behind his ears before he’d assumed a basic boxer’s stance. Dieter’s fists darted out with pin-point precision, solidly connecting with a phantasmal opponent. What was he doing? The point would become quite clear as he’d kept the feverish pace up for almost an entire minute. One could see beads of sweat trickling down the side of his face. His once controlled breathing suddenly became ragged, each breathe strained. Before too long, one could see that Dieter’s stance had begun to deteriorate. At first it was marginal; his blows became less precise as his shoulders visibly began to sag.
“ You don’t have to hit hard, nor fast but you have to make those hints count… No matter what form of fighting you use, you are limited by your body.”
Dieter said, his lecture coming out in broken huffs as he’d slowed to a complete standstill.
“So would you like to learn some basic techniques, they’d likely serve you well in everyday situations.”
Dieter inquired, curious to see if she’d taken advantage of the presented opportunity. He wanted to see if her mind was as sharp as her tongue. Despite Dieter’s nature as a Knight, he was far from chivalrous. No, it didn’t matter how you won your battle, the only thing that mattered was that you were the one whom walked away – a cruel lesson that he’d learned young.

C ass did not like the way this training was beginning to go as she listened to Dieter speak the rules for the test. Was she supposed to only use Monk techniques that he was going to teach her? Or was she allowed to use her dancing skills? She had a few dancing skills that might be helpful. But, overall he was far more skilled. How did he expect her to do this? It was practically impossible. At least, not for the next few years if she even stuck around that long. Her eyes watched as he took a position again and jabbed a few times in the air, demonstrating his own technique. She wasn't sure if it was the heat of the sun coming up that was making the man sweat a bit or the fact he was exerting a lot more energy than it looked with his punches. She had no idea the test had begun. Not even the fact the concept of how she was going to pass the test. Would he just give up for the day? Or would she be stuck out here until she did? He continued until he seemed to slow his pace to catch his breath, his comments slipped up between the breathing. She was debating making her attempt now. She was obviously thinking about it. But, it wouldn't be fair at all. Yet the internal debate did happen. She finally sighed a bit, more to herself as she nodded at the question. "Yeah...it's not like I really have much choice in the matter." She responded as she lifted her fists a bit in defense like he had shown her. Though, she wasn't sure if she could really mimic the basic punching that he had demonstrated. There really wasn't any rhythm that she could find to it. Why hadn't she tried to just punch him and end this. Then she might have been able to go back in and take a little nap. A nap sounded really nice after a bath even. It was totally justified for being outside. It was beginning to get a little warm outside with them standing in the direct sunlight. Practicing.

| Unfortunately, Cassialyn’s momentary hesitation had unintentionally complicated the situation by spending an excessive amount of time running through unspoken stipulations. The Dark Knight made a mental note of her folly – a topic that they’d return to a later date. In the midst of battle, one was seldom provided the opportunity to analyze an entire situation thoroughly. No, if you were on the front lines, you were forced to make split-second decisions, the ramifications of your actions. What marked the difference between a novice and a veteran, the latter understood that you had to seize every opportunity you were presented – no matter how underhanded or sleazy it seemed. If he had been in Cassialyn’s shoes, he would have rushed his opponent and tried to land either a status effect or a crippling blow.
“You squandered away your best chance… Seize every opportunity you are presented… no matter how underhanded… the only rule you concern with is to survive.”
With each passing second, Dieter’s struggle to catch his breath lessened. Alas, Dieter’s lecture was about to come an abrupt end as Nils sauntered out of their Clan Hall. The Nu Mou paused just outside their make-shift battle ground for a moment or two, coughing once or twice to get Dieter’s attention before he’d dared to enter the Dark Knight’s domain – a wise decision on his part. The Archdaemon held up a singular finger to signify him to wait a moment, Cassialyn had already reassumed the defensive stance, practicing shifting from the defensive to the offensive – at least she was progressing. He’d pivoted on his heel and made his way over to the Nu Mou, whom offered Helios Ambition’s Right hand a singular rolled parchment. The Dark Knight’s eyes scanned over the content of the scroll, surprised to see it was a request that would take Vana’diel
“Sadly, our session is done for today… I have something I must prepare for… Overall, you did well.”
Dieter adamantly stated, his lips curved upwards into a gentle smile as he’d re-rolled the parchment before he made his way back towards the Clan Hall. If Cassialyn elected to continue her training, it was by her own volition though such a course of action was highly recommended – albeit, discouraged for the fact there was no one to point out her faults.

L Of course. Of course she had made a mistake already. Fighting just wasn't her thing. She didn't have the strength or the skills to be offensive. She already was fully aware of that aspect. She really didn't understand why Dieter was even going to bother trying to train her. Of course she didn't take the chance. It wasn't sporty and they were only training. Why would she have tried to attack him. Even if she had, he could have taken her down before she got close enough anyway. He was about 100x's stronger than she was. It would be a waste of her energy anyways. She knew when she was outmatched. There was no turning it around with him. Or, she didn't believe there was. Thankfully, though, someone had appeared to interrupt the lesson to speak with Dieter. He had cleared his throat and really didn't say much at all. He sort of looked familiar. But, she listened to Dieter's lecture and did her absolute best to try. Dieter finally moved over to address the Nu Mou directly and read whatever had been brought out to him. It had to be rather important with the way that he'd ended their session. It was such a relief. She was tired and probably going to be a little sore even though she had not done all that much. She listened to his praise to her efforts and half smiled back. She didn't give herself THAT much credit. She could mimic movements. Big deal. It was the strength and speed that she didn't have. "Thanks.... I'll see you later then." She half waved. The woman watched him head off with the Nu Mou as she glanced at the gloves on her hands. She was debating to continue to practice. It had been a while since she had done much practice or exercise of this manner. So, she decided to stay at it a little longer. Maybe a half hour or so, that wouldn't be too much. She practiced a few punches and some footwork she hadn't even thought about in ages. It wasn't long till she removed the gloves from her hands, untying the knots that Dieter had secured. She then decided to work on her flexibility and dance movements. She didn't want to get rusty on her actual class. [Exit Thread]
