A lot of things had changed on The Planet. Elfé had been out of action for several years, and in those several years... Well, it was kind of mind-boggling just how much had occurred. But she was able to confirm pretty much every single piece of information she had heard by simply checking one something thing; Midgar. Or rather, the ruins of it... That was awhile back, of course. Right now, Elfé was in the newly formed city called "Edge". From what she could tell, things were going pretty well for it too. Rough patches here and there, but what place on this whole world didn't have something like that going on?
And from the brief experiences she had in other worlds, she knew that it was a pretty constant thing. Really, it was a bit of a small miracle that she hadn't run into those "Heartless" on her own world yet. But all of that was pushed to the side, there was one thing that she was very keenly aware of despite all of the newfound information; Shinra was, at least in part, still active. And... If there was one thing that Shinra could be known for, it was the creation of Materia. Summon Materia was a bit unique in that regard, but they were still the experts, and they had plenty of it.
If there was any group that she could target and not feel bad about, it'd be them... Still, she knew what to expect with Shinra Security too. This wasn't going to be the kind of job that could be done solo. Maybe back when she still had Zirconiade, but... Nah, it was better to be without that particular power too. Still, going up against a group like Shinra meant that there were a lot of preparations that had to be done, the more you knew about the facility you were going into, the better. And she was targeting the HQ... Yeah, no slip-ups tolerated here.
Due to that, she had been asking around, about as discreetly as one could, if anyone was interested in a job. It was mercenary work, entailed a lot of dangers, and there was a strict policy about not sharing any details about it with anyone else. Most people backed off that kind of description, but there were a few bites even so. But add into the mix that they learned it involved Shinra...
Well, they walked out at that point. It was a little frustrating, but Elfé couldn't exactly blame them for it. It wasn't your usual type of task. What she was proposing was a full-blown heist to steal Materia. With the conditions being that anything else found and acquired in there is free to keep -- even the Materia, to an extent. As she was only interested in Summon Materia. Still, with the few sources she had in Edge, she was able to keep aware of any interested takers for the job. It was the usual targets, anyone that looked like an adventurer. People with reputations as decent fighters or mercenaries, and so on. The obvious exception being "employed by Shinra".
... Which led all of this setup to a small bar. Right now, Elfé was waiting for some potential recruits to show up. She relied on those loyal sources of hers to do the dirty work here. Normally, she'd do it personally... But, well, if anyone recognized her as a member of AVALANCHE, then things would get a lot harder. So, keep things as quiet as possible. Let the newcomers be directed to a location to then get the full briefing... That made things a bit easier.
So it was just a matter of waiting, now. " Anytime now..." Elfé muttered to herself.

| Sorry? Why, I've never had this much fun. | |
It was already almost autumn on Planet. The season was to become colder and many people would still remain without power across Edge. Edge had sprouted up nearly overnight thanks to the efforts of citizens and those from Shinra who had escaped the carnage of Meteorfall. Residents on the plates were still just natives of Midgar who wanted to see their villages prosper. To them they had done everything they could to protect their families and and help their friends up, out of the slums. It was hard on everyone. But they survived because they’re human. Recent circumstances had made it difficult to run the new wires under the streets to reach the more decentralized parts of Edge. The city grew out from the edges of the fallen Midgar so much of its infrastructure was repurposed parts from the plates and warmachina that lined the streets to fight off riots that escalated during the Deepground incidents. Because of this some residences were not fitted with proper power sources but old generators. In time those generators crowded the streets and after the last fire they were banned. Cruel as it seemed it was better to keep a few with limited power, than burn down the city. But they were human and were dangerously innovative. Where there was a problem, they could find a way to fix it. It seemed that there were people illegally siphoning power, causing maintenance to be a hellish nightmare. Of course, in response, Shinra had sent several WRO guards out to keep an eye on the grids and arrest those caught altering Shinra property. Maybe even offered a job...
The WRO troops were not Shinra soldiers but they were armed with Shinra manufactured weapons and it made many nervous. In full gear they were civilians with the power to arrest, but were hardly a threat. Still an effort was being made as engineers spent mornings trying to rewire the networks. The WRO kept them guarded and the engineers worked, but to some it seemed a familiar scene from the past as soldiers looked on as engineers fitted certain blocks with mako energy. It was enough to make many uneasy, but the world was changing and it was hard to see the new in the vestiges of the past. A good ride away from those parts of town was the business district where many shops and restaurants were situated. At their center was the new HQ for Shinra. A highrise building that was only half the colossus its predecessor had been. Much more humble in comparison: it was no less intimidating with its clear windows which had a metallic sheen to them, doing well to reflect the afternoon sun.
Rufus was sitting in his office, idling away on reports and interoffice emails. Dark Nation sat underfoot, hidden perfectly under his desk as Darkstar dashed across the hall for one reason or another, his chains rattling wildly amidst the concerned hurrying of secretaries. Rufus looked over toward his cellphone, which was sitting, screen up, on his desk. He idly typed yet another response to Scarlet, promising the budget for the year to be up soon. He had a new project for Research and Development so she was disinclined to wait for his summons on the matter. Always impatient that one.
The headquarters did not have heavy security as in days prior. There was not much in the office beyond workers as the science development was now off site at a proper facility and the barracks were non-existent, leaving the WRO to continue to swell in number and ranks. Reeve was given as much funding as he could manage, the man always putting the safety of Midgar’s citizens above even his own personal safety -- sometimes. His robots were always useful for that in some ventures. His brows furrowed as he tapped the screen of his phone, waking it. After another moment he sat back to look out of his window, scrutinizing the growing city below.

Rina walked down the once familiar streets of Edge. It had been months maybe even a year since she had last sat foot in the town she once called home. Once she had moved from the small flat she had been renting Rina couldn't find many reasons to return. The memories that she had created here weren't the happiest, and she felt way too close to enemies that she may still have. It had been years since her days in the slums and the sins she had left behind but even just stepping foot onto The Planet made her a little anxious and more apt to look over her shoulder. Rina wasn't sure if it was that feeling or the cool bite of the autumn winds that made her zip her jacket up and tuck her chin into the collar. Hands buried into her pockets, Rina finally arrived at her destination. An old bar off of the beaten path. Out of the way and very low key. A perfect place for people with questionable plans and morals. People like Rina and the woman she was meeting with. She apparently had a job for Rina and a few others but was very vague on the details, hence the in person meeting. Usually Rina didn't go for that. More than once had she taken a sketchy job and nearly get stabbed in the back. Sometimes literally. But this time was different. When she spoke with the woman there had been something in hr voice that made Rina want to help her. She wasn't sure if it was the commanding tone of voice or that the voice said the job was against Shinra. That was definitely an incentive. Rina had a bone or two to pick with the man and what was left of his company and was happy to cause some chaos for him. Rina entered the bar and quickly spotted her contact. She took a seat beside the brown haired woman and told the bartender what she wanted to drink. "Elfé? I'm Rina."

the fiery spell fencer
299 Words | Hono was testing the weapon she had received from her new "master", Xehanort sure was strange but he had given Hono an effective new weapon, along with the ability to travel between worlds! Though it still wasn't perfect- from the undergrounds in Twilight Town Hono was testing out the weapon, testing her new dark corridors out. Hono held out The Gazing Eye, a small black beam shot out from the tip, it would open a portal to where ever she wanted, she just needed to think! Though... her first thought was unexpected, she remembered Felica, a woman she had met not that long ago, wondering just what the girl was up to now, a random thought, but it would be good practice! As she imagined the girl in her mind, the corridor ripped over. So it did work! Happily, the girl would sheathe the keyblade onto her hip.
Without a second thought, Hono walked through the portal, reaching the other end, she finally arrived at The Planet. An unexplored world! Unfourtently Hono's portal didn't take her exactly where she wanted, the portal opened above a wooden table in the bar, spitting Hono out. The girl collided with the table, breaking it and landing right on her back. She was silent for a few seconds before speaking up. "Shit... That hurt... my backkkk!" She called out before managing to get herself up. It seemed Elfé had another recruit... someone familiar but this definitely wasn't the best entrance. Hono's vision was blurry for a couple of seconds before it focused on Elfé. "Oh shit... It worked! Hey Felicia- Long time no see-" She would awkwardly say, completely ignoring the table she had broke. "Shit.. I'm still not the best at traveling... but I wanted to see what you were up to."

Namine looked around traverse Town. There was nothing more she could really do there. So she put the finishing touches on the drawing of laurium that she was working on. She closed her sketchbook and dismissed it. In a flash of light it was gone. she sighed as she listened to the fountain trickle behind her, wondering where she should go next. Posters and looking around individual world's was only going to get her so far. She sat there wondering what else she could do. She knew everyone was searching for Sora, but even still it seemed like their resources were limited. There had to be something that they were missing, a fresh new perspective, somewhere that might have more resources so perhaps look in places and in ways that they weren't thinking of. The witch of memories looks up at the starry sky. it's sometimes was a little off-putting to see the vast, endless darkness above that was speckled with millions and millions of little lights. With all the neon lights in the town it wasn’t too hard to forget that daylight rarely came to this world. In fact she couldn't ever remember a time in this world where the sunlight turn the dark skies into blue. As she sat there looking up into space I thought had occurred to her. There was some where she could go and someone she could ask an opinion on who did indeed have lots of resources and just might be able to help. The very sight of deep space brought it all back to her. She summoned small card into her hand. The plastic hard had a picture of her along with a red and black logo and bore the name namine shinra. She smiled to herself as she tapped the little plastic card off of the palm of her hand a few times thinking hard. She jumped off of the fountain wall and waved her hand in front of her. She took a step into a black void and was whisked away. After a quick pit stop in Twilight town, a few feet away from the president sitting in his chair, namine, stepped out of the black whirling smoke that surrounded her. As she stepped out she placed her hands out in front of her so they were visible. She knew that somewhere the president's guard dog was probably nearby. So she held her hands that surrender to show that she was no threat. In her one hand where to ice blue ice creams. She held them out to the blonde man just as he commented on what a boring day. Namine smiled at him. “ I'm sure it's not all that bad. You're in good health and the day is still young.” she said as she held out her offering. “sorry for the sudden visit. And for not using the card you gave me just yet. I was going to…. But I figured by the time I got up this far the ice cream would have melted.” the little memory witch had a feeling but this day was going to be far from boring Elfé Rufus Shinra Rina Croft Hono

It didn't take Elfé long to spot the new arrival in the bar, a young looking woman with black hair tied into a ponytail. That, along with the jacket were enough to tell her that was one of the people that contacted her with an interest for the job. It doesn't take the woman long to approach the white-cloaked swordswoman. First querying about her name, and introducing herself. Although... It looks like one of her go-betweens might have messed up. She specified to use the name 'Felicia'... Oh well.
Play the cards close to chest. Didn't look like this one was on Shinra's payroll. They'd either be a suit, a grunt, or a SOLDIER... That was not Rina. Or at least, Elfé was willing to make that bet. " Felicia. But you have the right person." , she responds, confirming that this is in fact the right person. She'd then gesture for Rina to take a seat at the table... Although it doesn't take long for the distinct sound of a dark portal to grab her attention.
Elfé stands up, turning her attention to the portal, ready to draw her sword... Until someone quite literally falls through the portal with a loud crash. The figure was a bit of a blur while falling, but she sort of recognized them.
The Bartender is a little less enthusiastic about it." What the hell?! That's the third time this week!" , he'd shout exasperated.
Before the situation escalates, Elfé calmly takes out a bag of gil and tosses it over to the counter. The man behind the counter is a little taken aback, but picks up the bag and begins to count it out, seemingly satisfied that he has enough to cover the costs. He sighs, and waves it off. Shooting a brief glare at Hono before returning to manning his post.
As for why Elfé covered the cost, well..." Hono! It's been a little while." She'd reply, smiling at a recently acquired friend showing up when they did. She doubted any of her contacts was THIS good at finding people to help out, so... Chances are this was another one of those random jumps Hono was talking about." Me? Well, I'm getting some people together for a little job... She'd gesture for Hono to join her and Rina at the table, and Elfé returns to her own seat... Then, she begins to talk discreetly.[/i] " It's Shinra. We all know about them... I'm pretty familiar with their security systems. I think we can bust in and steal some Materia from them. Whatever we pick up from the job is yours to keep -- Materia or otherwise. All I'm after is Summon Materia." Elfé then explains a basic briefing of what this was about. Hono would probably remember hearing about them from the first meeting she and Elfé had." It's going to be dangerous. But that's why we're going to come up with a plan before we go in..." The former member of AVALANCHE then turns her gaze to Rina." I'm assuming if you came this far, you don't hold much love for Shinra, but I'll still ask..." Elfé then looks back at Hono for a moment." You two in? This is the last chance to walk away. No judgement involved. All I ask is you keep it to yourselves." And so it was laid out for them. They could accept, or just walk away, pending how they felt about it.------ Hono Rina Croft Rufus Shinra Naminé

| Sorry? Why, I've never had this much fun. | |
Rufus had leaned forward on his desk. He has taken to keeping tabs on the other departments, especially the Science Division. He has a few projects in the works there that he desperately sought to reach completion, but if he was ever going to learn from his family's last he would have to be involved. The Science Division was no longer a main part of the HQ. It was moved to its own facility shared with R&D. Most of what could be found in the headquarters now were office workers and barracks for WRO, whom managed Public Safety under the leadership of Reeve Tuesti. As it always had been. But that also meant they had an armory for the WRO to check in and out gear.
The armory was on the basement level of the HQ where the majority of the WRO had access to a cafeteria, sleeping quarters and training ground. Unlike before much of the new Shinra HQ was accessible to civilians. It made them feel safer to be able to see the inner workings of the company, but there were still restricted access to the upper and basement levels to maintain the company's remaining secrets. He was going to keep a close eye on things now, and that meant the Turks were always on call.
He blinked, Dark Nation perking their ear as she lay beneath the desk. The sound of the opening portal was distinct to the Tentacle Hound, but, so was the woman exiting it. While to the beast Namine had an absence of scent she did have a distinct sensation to her that was kind and gentle. Rufus sat back, clearing his throat. He let out a soft chuckle as he took the treat in hand. He stared at it for a moment before taking a bite. He hummed softly at the distinct flavor. It was salty, but sweet and had sort of a light creme flavour.
"No, you're right. On both counts." He settled back in the soft cushion of his seat. "The day is still young and, well I would have been saddened had your efforts been for naught." He reached out with his free hand to pick up his phone. "It's quite good. Strange color." It has a distinct sort of blue to it, childish. He would sent a quick message to Tseng and Cissnei. He had a job for the two and wanted to make sure they were up for a mission. He hummed and looked over to Namine. "It's fine. You'll use it eventually. We'll even get you a uniform." He mused. "Actually it might be of interest to you, but I bought something." He wheeled back, taking another note of the ice cream. Reaching into his desk drawer he would pull out a manila folder and set it within reach of Namine. It was filled with information about her and reports of a ghost in the Old Manor. As well as a signed proof of purchase. The Shinra's stamp was pressed on the line, in red. It seems Rufus had rented the property for a short while."The town wouldn't give it up for purchase due to its historical value, but we may be able to save it from ended up in disuse. Of course I have my own reasons for covering the property." In particular, the computer systems in the basement were of interest to him. They were destroyed, bit it was possible to restore them and get their information. ▲

Rina nodded as the woman confirmed her identification even though there was some confusion on her title. Rina was about to apologize for the misinformation when a very loud, very red blur came raining down from a portal into the table nearby. With wide eyes Rina rushed over and helped the girl named Hono out from the rubble. " Are you okay?! That wasn't exactly graceful was it?" Smiling in apology to the bartender who was counting his loot and passing a drink down to Felicia and Hono ( Is she even old enough to drink? Oh well.), Rina removed her jacket before taking her seat. Sipping on her drink, Rina leaned her head in close and listened to the proposition that she came for. Felicia had her eye on some materia and needed some people to accompany her. Any loot that anyone got their hands on was theirs to keep. Rina tapped her finger on her glass, deep in thought. She didn't really need materia or gil for that matter. Rina had her eye on something else. Files. She wanted to erase any mention of herself that Shinra may have. Hell, they probably didn't have anything on her but the paranoia wouldn't let her go. She NEEDED to make sure she was invisible. Rina came back from her reverie when she realized that Felicia was asking if she was still good with the mission. Was Rina in? She nodded in response and with a tight smile she pulled her collar away from her shoulder to show an old bullet wound that was healed up but still painful. Rina knew the Turks weren't what they used to be but still...some payback would be nice. " I'd like to return the favor if I can. I'm in." Naminé Elfé Hono Rufus Shinra
