| Beneath the bustling city of Rabanastre, located in the depths of Low Town was the entrance to the Garamsythe Waterway – an elaborate manmade labyrinth that was rumored to connect to the Palace. Of course, one would have surmised with such a rumor that it’d be brimming with all manner of riffraff, its’ unnatural abundance of fiend proved to be a suitable deterrent – it also made it the perfect spot for him to groom future Clansmen. Prior to ever bringing them down into its’ mysterious depths, Dieter had scouted out the area and made note of regions that would be considered off-limits. He couldn’t risk them encountering a Marlboro, those things were quite the nasty creatures – their breathe so foul that it’d caused innumerable ailments. However, he’d deemed that they could safely dispatch creatures such as the Dire Rat , Steelings , Ichton , Gigan Toads and even Ghosts – the latter provided they’d dispatched them before they’d begun to multiply and sling their spells.
He’d chuckled as he’d lead the children down set corridors, pausing to make some adjustments at a control panel. How did he remember which levers to pull? That answer was quite simple, he’d made a series of marks on the ground with his blade. After perhaps thirty seconds of ministration, he’d flooded and sealed off the particularly dangerous regions. A wistful grin played as his lips as he’d pushed down on the final lever. The children excitably bounced back and forth on the platform, whispering excitably to one another as they’d waited for him to dictate which route they’d be exploring. Not to mention, Dieter was waiting to see if Cassialyn decided to join them – she’d seemed a bit reluctant at first. His plan for the day was rather crude, he’d intended to let the children hunt until they’d tired themselves out or someone got injured.
He’d performing a series of practice swings using the short sword he’d fished from the crate earlier, once more testing its’ weight – it wasn’t terrible but no where near the caliber of his blade.
“Alright children, today we will be hunting Dire Rats, Steelings, Ichton, Gigan Toads, and even Ghost… the latter two should only be engaged if I am present.”
He’d announced, his tone was jovial but it held an edge to it, one that suggested that disobeying him wasn’t in their best interest. A few of the children’s features visibly blanched as they’d recalled the last time pissed off their caretaker. It hadn’t been a good day for them.

c assialyn was not used to this much walking on foot. So, she would probably admit she did lag behind a bit. The dancer would not have been surprised if Dieter thought she had turned back or decided not to join the hunt. But she was here for some reason. Maybe it was an attempt to prove that she could make it as part of the team. Maybe it was because she was afraid to make the man angry and wanted to stay on his good side. She really didn't know nor did she want to find out. Though the more she learned about him, the more inclined she felt to stay in the group. At least she knew Drake would stay away as long as he knew she was still apart of their clan. What was it called again? Helios Ambition? When she caught up, it was just enough time to see Dieter messing with a series of levers at the gates of the waterway they were at. What were they doing here? Is this truly where they planned to do the hunting for the day rather than an open field or a swamp? But she was not in charge of this hunting party. Dieter was. So, she could not argue. Dieter made his announcement about the creatures they planned to hunt before giving his stipulations if they encountered the bigger creatures. It was fair, they were just children. No one wanted any of them harmed. The young girl moved over to Dieter's side again as the children soaked in their orders. All Cass was thinking about was her poor shoes. These were practically the sewers they were going into. Shoes were something she really needed to invest into after this. Especially since she was going to need a long bath after going in a place like this. Just because she didn't have gil anymore did not mean that she planned to go to a place like this. She was certainly not that desperate. "....I take it we're going in there?" She asked, already knowing the answer.

| Prior to having dismissed the children, Dieter gestured for them to form a single column. Once they’d complied with the issued command, he gradually made his down the newly formed aisle – performing one final inspection of their gear. Upon reaching the last child, he’d noticed that there was one additional body. His lips curved upwards into a mirthful grin as Cassialyn’s voice rang out over the sound of the roaring Waterway. Truthfully, the Dark Knight was elated that Cassialyn had decided to join them in their hunt – an extra pair of eyes on the children was always greatly appreciated. Her inquiry was answered twofold, firstly with a curt nod of his head as he’d coughed once or twice to clear his throat. “That is correct, I am pleased that you decided to join us. I have no doubt the children are as well.” Once he’d addressed her concern, speaking his piece, he’d pivoted on his heel and made his way towards the NO. 10 Channel . For the most part, this section of the Waterway was relatively linear and provided minimal spots for creatures to lurk in hiding. Still, he’d stepped forward cautiously, periodically leering over his shoulder to ensure the children and Cassialyn weren’t too far behind, or in any immediate danger. He’d forgotten about the rumored appearance of Flan and Garchimacera , neither of which were particularly dangerous, they were just an inconvenience – the Flan due to their natural resistance to physical damage and the Garchimacera for their superior defense. Dieter paused for a moment as he’d inched closer to the wall, tapping his blade against it once or twice to produce an audible clang. This sound drew the attention of a quartet of Dire Rats. The foul vermin surged forward, rushing to investigate the sound – unaware that only their demise awaited them. Once they’d gotten close enough, Cassialyn would notice the two of the children had already notched their arrows on their bow, one had risen their gladius and leather shield in front of them. Another group of children, one’s lips moved in silent prayer as she’d prepared to cast Fire , the one that told Cassialyn she was pretty was chanting as well prepping Cure . Sadly, he hadn’t been able to afford hiring an instructor to diversify their knowledge of the Arcana, he’d been fortunate enough to teach one or two how to cast Fire , one of the Elderly woman they’d met earlier was a white mage, she’d taught a handful with aptitude the basic curative spell. He’d took a reluctant step back as he’d watched the children engage with fervor. The shield bearer slammed his shield forward, an audible crunch followed by a pained shrill cry from the rat assaulted his ears. Before it grew any louder, the child swung his blade out and silenced it with ease. The makeshift Archer’s fire volley of arrow missed by a large margin, however one or two found purchase in it’s back. Dieter inched forward, prepared to intervene if it got too close for comfort. He was curious to what Cassilyn intended to do – this was just the very beginning of their hunt.

* "....I was afraid of that..." She responded quietly with the man's nod. Of course they were going into the gross wet dark sewer. Why would she think they would be hunting rats anywhere else. This was probably the best place. She just figured they'd pick somewhere more open so they had the better advantage over a small and confined tunnel. It was going to be so gross in there and she knew it. Her poor poor shoes. Cassialyn doing her best not to show her displeasure in this location. It would soon be over and she could take a nice warm bath and rest for the night. That was a perk. The woman's crimson eyes followed Dieter as he spun on his heel and moved to head into the tunnels. This was not something that she wanted to do. She would have been much more use just assisting in the kitchen back at the makeshift orphanage. The group moved inside the sewers and Cassialyn followed, eyes peeled for any danger. She didn't want any of the children harmed in a simple hunt like this. The thing that did manage to make her jump was Dieter's actions of making the noise to attach the monsters. It worked and a lot faster than she honestly expected it to. It was very surprising. Her bright eyes watching as the group of kids did as they were taught. It was cute seeing their brains trying to apply what they had learned. To be honest, they were much better than she expected as she did her best to keep out of the muck under her feet. It could have been much worse. The woman just stopped moving at a point to watch the group. She could certainly buff a few of the children if that was necessary. But, she wouldn't know which one until the next group targeted. Right now, she was perfectly content being useless. But, it was obvious she was watching.

| Dieter silently spectated as the Gladius wielding child’s blade arced outwards suddenly, violently cleaving through the thick-sinewy mass of the stunned Dire Rat. Before it could screech in pain, a well-placed follow up thrust would put the Dire Rat out of its’ misery as it’s heart had been run through. He’d nodded his head in approval of his proteges’ actions, quietly slinking along behind with a handful of children. The children knelt down without question and began to fervently harvest and skin the Dire Rat. They’d paused in their ministrations, pleading looking up at Dieter for guidance. He’d simply used the dull side of his blade to point out the areas that they’d needed to cut it if they’d wished to harvest the pelt – keeping it fully intact as well. This was going well to say the least, two of the Four Dire Rats had already met their end.
A faint whistling noise was audible over the sound of the rushing water as two arrows embedded themselves into the trunk of the third Dire Rat. Before it’d reached the two fledgling Archers, a softball-sized fireball collided with its’ side. It gave a pained screech before it’d crumpled to the ground, the conjured blaze disappearing before it could fully ignite the Rat’s fur. The last of the four made it a point to target the weakest of the group, it’d surged forward towards the White Mage. Surprisingly, the child didn’t hesitate to swing her rod outwards, its’ thick gnarled top colliding firmly with the side of the beast’s head. An audible wince escaped from between his lips as he’d watched the Rat’s head snap to the left, its’ eyes unfocused and its movements groggy. However, it’d recovered far quicker than one would have expected, lunging towards the child.
Before its’ mouth could snap down on the child’s arm, it’d let out a pained squeeze as Dieter pilfered a skinning knife from one of the children and hurtled in its’ direction. The blade surprisingly sunk into the hilt – suggesting that Dieter had hurtled it with surprising force. He’d straightened his stance and looked at the fearful child, who swallowed the lump that formed in her throat.
“Ye already forgot about tactics? Ye know that one of the Archer’s was meant to support ye.”
He’d chastised not only the White Mage but the Duo of Archers, reminding them that one of them was supposed to be with either of the Magick Users – their role was to deter and put down threats before they got in range. Dieter’s eyes widened as he heard an audible croak echoing out from the nearby Waterway. Before he could issue a warning, a Gigantoad leapt from the water, positioning itself between Dieter and the children. Its’ long tongue darted outwards and coiled around one of the Archer’s wrists. Before anyone could respond it pulled the child in their direction, its’ intent was to attempt to devour the child.
“Cassialyn… slow it down if can.”
He shouted as he’d brandished his own weapon and began to rush forward. The other children began to cluster together – their training immediately forgotten as fear claimed them. It was better that it’d happened in a semi-controlled environment than later in life. The Gigantoad’s eyes snapped in his direction as it’d reeled it’s head back and brought the child closer to its’ gaping maw.

T he hunt was going reasonably well. The kids were doing very well considering that they were still learning. Dieter having to step in, throwing his blade to kill the rat that had gotten past the archers. She stayed out of it as the clan leader explained the mistake and reminded them of how they needed to be working together. Honestly, it should be a ranged with a close combat fighter. But, it wasn't her place to be making any changes. She was just there for support and back up. That's when she heard it. Cass popped immediately into higher gear when she heard the toad. She remembered Dieter mentioning them and the issue they'd had before. So, she was already positioning herself to get involved. She presumed the best thing to do would be to slow the creature if she could manage to do so. The dancer moved her right foot up and down toward her right hard, spinning as she targeted the frog. Dieter speaking her name as she began the movement. At least they were on the same wave length with the best way to handle the situation. It was a shame that she did not know any more powerful dances to be able to stop the creature completely. Had she seen the creature before it's initial assault, she would have been able to preempt it. But, she was not fast enough. The young blonde spun, casting Slow Dance on the toad. It would make the current actions slow, hopefully enough that Dieter could react. The girl followed up with a secondary attack of Mincing Minuet, flowing it perfectly into her first dance. This would damage the toad in the meantime, hopefully giving Dieter enough time to get in there. Though, knowing the man was no unarmed, she attempted to give the man a fighting chance. She pulled the small athame from her side and tossed it carefully. Worst case being that he did not catch it and it hit the sewer and required a thorough cleaning. "Catch!"Cassialyn did not want to see any of the children hurt. She did not know any healing magic, though she did have a few potions if it was needed. All she could do was stop her movements and see if her actions had assisted at all. NOTE: You BETTER catch my blade!!!!! Or suffer the whiny wrath of a soggy footed dancer. Tag: Dieter Wolfram

| The Dark Knight’s heart beat frantically against the walls of his chest cavity, his immediate surroundings seemed to slow as adrenaline coursed through his veins – no, he wouldn’t lose one of the children. Without hesitation, Dieter ran forward towards the child, noting how Cassialyn’s magic had encircled the Gigantoad, its’ movements stagnating a bit, not to mention it let out an audible pained croak – though it’s tongue didn’t loosen in the slightest. Cassialyn’s voice prompted Dieter’s head to turn in her direction, he’d caught a glimpse of her arm reeling backwards followed by a flash of silver streaking in his direction. He’d tracked the Dancer’s Athame with his eyes, pivoting his upper torso so that as the blade sped by, his hand encircled the hilt of the blade. However, his timing had been slightly off and the blade had bit into the flesh of his palm.
Dieter’s expression remained stoic, unperturbed by the rivulet of crimson that began to trickle down the length of his forearm. His eyes snapped back to the Gigantoad as it’d reeled its’ entire body backwards, forcing the child to stagger ever closer to its’ gaping maw. Dieter’s calves and thighs flexed beneath the fabric of his robe in preparation as he’d ran forward. Once he was a couple inches away from the back of the Gigantoad, his muscles tensed as he’d pushed himself off the ground, vaulting over the beast. When he’d begun his descent, his grip upon the blade tightened as he’d plunged it savagely through the Gigantoad’s outstretched tongue, effectively pinning it to the ground. Its’ wails echoed throughout the sewer as Dieter craned his head towards the child, pleasantly surprised to see it’d slacked its grip. The child wrenched himself free and grabbed his discarded weapon as he’d ran back towards the other children.
In the meantime, Dieter wrenched his blade free, ruthlessly splitting open portion of the Toad’s tongue. He didn’t hesitate to rush forward, plunging the blade deep into the Toad’s underside, once it was embedded deep within it. One could see the Darkness within Dieter ran wild, its’ presence noted by the lingering aura that clung to him as he’d activated Sanguine Sword and Crushing Blow in conjunction. The beast’s body went rigid as it’s worst fears were played out before its’ very eyes, it’s vitality being siphoned and utilized to accelerate the healing process of his injured hand. It gave one final pitiful croak as Dieter wrenched the athame free and plunged it on once more, its’ entirely disappearing to the hilt into the beast.
“Is everyone alright?”
Dieter asked as he’d wrenched the blade free for the final time, staring down at it’s blood spattered length. He’d sighed to himself as he’d ripped off a segment of his robe and used the tattered cloth to remove the filth from Cassialyn’s blade before he’d returned it to her. Before anyone could answer, a series of Banshee like wails echoed in the distance – a few ghostly silhouettes began to materialize just a few feet away.
“…. Of course…”
Dieter said to himself as he’d turned to face the duo of Ghosts.

C assialyn could only watch at this point as she moved forward a bit to keep closer to the children in case she was needed to evacuate them. Dieter caught the blade and attacked the toad. The man was a lot faster than she remembered seeing him the day before. However, she had been a little distracted the day before to actually be able to sit back and watch. So this was rather interesting. It certainly had the kids full attention as they kept their distance. It was extremely cute watching how intense the kids were watching him. Even though he seemed extremely aggressive and a bit more brutal then she expected. But, she told herself it was because one of the children was in danger. Cass moved forward only when the toad had freed the child from it's grip, Dieter working to finish the creature off. The dancer moved to check the child over and make sure he was alright. But it seemed like he was more worked up than injured. She handed the boy a potion before shifting a bit to make sure Dieter was alright. She had noticed the blood from when she tossed her blade to him. Honestly, she was slightly impressed he'd even managed to catch it. It was rather small and she had not given the man much warning when she had. It was sweet that he was attempting to clean off her dagger though. Even if it would need more cleaning then that. But, at least it wouldn't be completely disgusting for her to be able to sheath. Dieter spoke up once the beast was dead. But, it was short lived. She was not able to really respond when the spectral noises began. Cass felt herself tense up as the two figures appeared behind Dieter. The man turned to face them and she stood a bit behind him, extremely uncomfortable. Ghosts freaked the crap out of her. It also did not help that she was completely unarmed at the moment. "...Um. That's not good. Any plans??? Please tell me you have a plan..." She knew she had at least one more dance she could use in the meantime. But, it wasn't all that much.

| The Ghost’s wails intensified as they’d crept closer, their incorporeal forms hovering scarcely an inch or so above the ground. The Dark Knight reluctantly tore his eyes away from the decrepit duo, momentarily regarding Cassialyn as she’d tended to the rescued child – producing a potion to abate his minor injuries. The sudden rattling of the duo’s phantasmal chains caused Dieter’s head to snap back in their direction, surprised to see that the very air around them had begun to fluxgate – signaling their manipulation of the ambient mana as they’d tried to channel a spell. His teeth sunk into his lower lip as he’d felt his heart plummet, inwardly praying that they hadn’t attempted to invoke Thunder – its’ might was magnified due to the overabundance of water beneath their feet.
“Yes, Mila prepare Fire, Sofia be prepared to cast Cure, Achim ready your sword… Cassialyn watch the other children please.”
Dieter spoke softly, taking a moment to pivot his upper body as he’d passed Cassialyn her cloth-wrapped athame. The instant she’d relieved him of her blade, he’d leapt forward towards the two Ghosts. Oddly enough, Mila’s lips had begun to move rapidly as she’d recited the memorized verses alongside Sofia – the latter of whom drug out her words and stressed each syllable. Achim hefted up his gladius and shield as he’d followed cautiously behind the flaxen-haired knight. Before the first Ghost could finish its’ own spell, Dieter had already closed most of the distance, his hand extending outwards as he’d mentally recited the incantation for Fire . Once he’d finished, an amaranthine flame appeared in front of his outstretched hand, it’d lingered for a second before it’d surged forward and collided with the Ghost’s phantasmal face – rewarding them with a symphony of pained wails. It’d blindly lashed out, attempting to gouge Dieter’s flesh, although he’d remained just out of reach. Before Achim could disrupt the second, Dieter felt the humid air become frigid. His eyes narrowed as he’d lunged for the child, ramming them aside just as a spear of ice sped towards where the child had just stood. He’d let out a groan of pain as he’d felt the javelin pierce his shoulder. His eyes narrowed, their stormy depths growing cloudier. The very air around him shifted as he’d reached up to the hunk of ice. For a split second, Dieter’s hand seemed twist and contort, its’ appearance was suddenly bestial. His once alabaster flesh had turned the color of onyx, his nails extended outwards three inches past the edge of his fingertips. He didn’t seem perturbed by the change as he’d wrenched the ice-free, lunging forward and using it to impale the beast. What they might not have noticed as that his clawed hand also darted forward, cleaving into the ghoul’s abdomen. It was moments like this that Dieter detested himself. Deep down, the Archdaemon knew no matter how hard he’d tried to hide it, to suppress his bestial instincts – they laid just beneath the surface vying for the moment his self-control dwindled. Just as quickly as the change had onset, it’d reverted back to normal – leaving them to question what they’d seen. Before the Ghoul could retaliate again, Achim’s sword sunk deep into it’s side, cleaving it in half using the pre-existing injuries caused by Dieter. Mila’s fireball surged forward, colliding with the second Ghoul, consuming it. Sofia’s spell hit Dieter, easing his pain as it’d commanded his skin to knit itself back together.
“Cassialyn, behind you.”
He’d shouted at his comrade as he’d turned to face her, noting the presence of a singular Garchimacera.

T his was becoming a lot more effort than she had signed on for. To be frank, she thought it was going to be much safer of an experience and that she might actually get to learn something from it. Though, that was seeming to not be the case anymore. The ghouls beginning to charge up some abilities, though she was not quite sure which ones. She was not very attuned to recognizing those sort of movements. She could tell you what dance steps someone planned to use, but magic was a whole other story. The woman could only react in this case. But, by Dieter's statements, it seemed that he had a plan. It was such a relief. She was really worried for a moment there. Dieter called upon a few of the children by name and commanded their attention. He listened what he wanted each to do before offering Cass her blade back. The woman happily accepting her athame back. It was sweet of him to clean it off. Though, she felt a bit guilty as he'd had to rip the cloth to do so. As soon as she took the weight out of the man's hand, he stepped into action. She wasn't quite sure what he planned to do unarmed. Unless it was an attempt to have the children take the lead without their realizing it. That's where she was mistaken. The boy with the shield moved in behind Dieter as he casted a fire magic on the first ghost while the two spell casters recited their own spell from memory. It was impressive. She wasn't sure if she'd have the capability of remembering the incantations. She was surprised she remember the dance steps to be honest. That's when she noticed the ghoul begin to lash out at Dieter. The woman took a step forward, knowing that the children were her priority. But maybe she could harm the beast before it could injure Dieter. That's when she noticed it. It was but a moment, but it was there. It had to be. She couldn't have been seeing things. His arm. It wasn't human looking. What was wrong? Cassialyn felt confused as she tilted her head a bit as she stopped her movements. He did not seem to need help with how he pulled the ice spear from his shoulder. The color was wrong. The shape was bent. Almost misshapen. Had they broken it? No, it couldn't have with the way he pulled the spear free. This wasn't right. She'd noticed that ferocity before. It was not something she had ever seen with other Dark Knights. There was something wrong. Something very wrong. She could feel the hair on the back of her neck standing up. She felt caught off guard, watching almost dumbfoundedly. She watched the magical exchange as the children finished off the ghouls and Mila healed Dieter. Cassialyn's bright red eyes looking his arm over. His arm was fine. Was she seeing things? That's when she noticed that Dieter was addressing her. Her eyes turned to look behind her as she looked almost face to face with the frightening creature. That might explain the hair's standing on the back of her neck. Maybe it wasn't Dieter. This thing was scary as all hell and she tightened her grip on the athame in her hands. There was not much she could do at the moment as it had already charged up a Fire spell. Cassialyn knew she was the only target as the kids had moved aside. Good. The dancer raised her arms in defense as she felt the spell hit her. It really hurt, burning her arms where it made the brunt of the contact. The cloth on her athame burned as she took a few steps back. That really really hurt! The woman swiped the blade toward the creature, making it float back a few steps as it prepared it's next attack. The young dancer moving to take the only offensive dance steps she knew, Mincing Minuet, and put it to good use. The woman moved, arms throbbing from the attack, hitting the creature and only causing it some minor damage. She really was not much of a fighter. That would become evident to Dieter now if it had not earlier. The woman moved again to use a second dance of Witch Hunt. Hopefully this would drain the enemy enough to delay it's next attack for Dieter to move in. Cass held her arm as she staggered a bit from the ending of the second dance steps. Her arms up defensively with her blade in hand. Hopefully she could at least hold them off a little bit. Enough for the kids to be safe. Dieter WolframHelp.... ._.

| The Dark Knight’s jaw visibly tightened, his teeth grating against one another as Cassilyn turned to face her foe. Unfortunately, the belated nature of his warning had given the fiend ample time to prepare its’ magick. He watched in horror as its’ conjured flames encompassed Cassialyn momentarily, greedily devouring the cloth that had wrapped her athame and leaving a sizable burn on her arm. Instinctively, Dieter’s hand shot out towards the nearest child, effortlessly disarming him of his gladius. With nothing more than a quick roll of his wrist, he’d determined that blade’s balance was soft – he’d make due though given the situation. Cassialyn’s Mincing Minuet was enough to force the creature to drift backwards, angrily clawing at its’ eyes as it’d let out a series of shrill screeches. No doubt, it was attempting to call for its’ comrades, however after a second or two of silence it’d became apparent it was a loner – outcaste by its’ pack.
Cassilyn didn’t relent, no, she’d continued to sway to as she’d activated Witch Hunt – an ability that he’d vaguely recalled his comrade using in the midst of her rescue. Before it could properly recover from Cassialyn’s counter, it’d find that the Dark Knight had closed the distance in that brief time. Its’ maw gaped in horror as Dieter’s bladed arced downwards, effortlessly cleaving through one of its’ stone wings and severing the connective tissue. His grip on the blade shifted as he’d rotated his wrist so that the pummel faced the underside of its’ chin. He’d smirked to himself as he’d thrust the rounded pummel upwards, feeling momentarily resistance as it’d collided with the underside of the beast’s chin – resulting in it collapsing limply to the ground. However, it’s chest continued to rise and fall albeit feebly, confirming that it wasn’t yet defeated.
He’d made it a point to position his foot so that it’d laid directly over its’ windpipe, steadily applying a downward pressure that prevented it from being able to mutter its’ incantation. He’d regarded Cassialyn for a moment before he’d extended his blade in her direction. His eyes fluttered shut, his lips moved rapidly as he’d recited an ancient verse, calling upon the power that lie dormant within his blade.
“Oh Ye Spirit within the blade, Awaken and hear my plea, Bring forth healing Rain. Murasame”
With the incantation complete, a sudden breeze could be felt within the Channel. It brought with it tiny droplets that would fall upon the children and Cassialyn. However, when the droplets hit, they’d find immediate relief from their pain, the injuries themselves began to diminish.
“Cassialyn… I want you to finish it.”
He said above the gentle pitter patter of the rain, patiently awaiting her response.

W et feet were certainly the least of her problems at the moment. This is why she always chose clan that were front heavy with more up close and personal fighters. It made her job easier being able to sit back and support them. Dancing was not an ability that allowed her to face a foe head to head. She was more attuned to staying in the background. Cassialyn was so far outside her comfort zone right now that it was actually a bit funny to her. How was she supposed to make it by with a clan this small. A clan with only one viable close ranged fighter. Who was she kidding? She couldn't defend herself, not even against Drake who had no powers. The young dancer was pulled back to reality by the screech of the beast that had attacked her. Good. She hoped it was in a good bit of pain seeing as it had caused her an equal if not greater amount of it. It was just a relief that she'd managed to catch it off guard and delay it's next attack. That was when she noticed the movement in the corner of her eye, her back having been to the children and Dieter. Dieter flew past her side to confront the beast face to face. He'd moved rather quick in the small amount of time that had past. At least he was armed this time. That would make things a lot easier. Cass watched as Dieter lobbed off the wing of the beast before slamming the butt of the sword up to knock it down. It honestly looked unconscious if she was really seeing right. The priority was the painful burn on her right arm at the moment. It kept pulling her attention from everything else that was going on. At least the ringing in her ears had stopped for the moment. Her good arm moved a bit to see if she could find another potion to use. Even if it took some of the edge off of the pain it would welcomed. Though, that was not necessary when Dieter recited his chant and she felt the warm rain. Normally, she wouldn't be very happy for rain or water of almost any sort. But, in this case, it was acceptable. Mostly because it made her arm stop stinging. The rain healing the burn on her arm as if it was never even there. Good. She certainly would not have known what to do if she'd ended up with an actual scar. Then Dieter spoke. Her crimson eyes transitioning from her arm to meet the mans gaze. What did he want her to do? He wanted her to kill it? She had never killed anything in her entire life. That wasn't something she was ever able to do. How was she supposed to get out of this situation now? She certainly couldn't do what he was asking. Cass felt like a deer in the headlights. She still had the athame in her hands with fragments of the burned cloth on it. Certainly, the beast had no issue killing her and it wasn't like it could continue on without a wing. It would be a mercy killing at this point. But, how could she do this? Was she supposed to stab it? She didn't have any skills active that could put it out of it's misery. She couldn't just stab it... where would she even do so? She was not built for this. The internal panic had to have started to show on her face at this point. "No. It's fine. I don't usually do any combat stuff...." She back pedaled, the discomfort in the situation showing on her face. What was she supposed to say? Because that sounded really stupid after she heard what she'd said. She was such an idiot. She was just embarrassing herself now.

| Dieter studied Cassialyn’s face intently as he’d attempted to gauge her reaction to the morbid request he’d demanded of her. However, when she’d met his gaze, she’d notice that his eyes had grown solemn and distant – he took no pleasure in this. Of course, this begged the question, why hadn’t he simply ended its’ wretched existence himself? Truthfully, the Dark Knight needed to know that Cassialyn was capable of fending for herself, that she understood sometimes beating a foe into submission wasn’t an option – many would die before they’d admit defeat. His gaze shifted from Cassialyn to the surrounding children, he’d forced them into the same situation during their training. Even without starring at Cassialyn, he could sense her innate discomfort and reluctance to take the life of the creature. He’d dealt with it more than a handful of times with the orphaned he’d trained, firmly reminding them that these beasts had no qualms with ending their lives.
“Cassialyn, I understand that… I can’t force you to do it… but remember… there are some foes you can’t just run away from and I might not always be by your side.”
He’d said softly, his tone soft as he’d reached out and pressed her blade deliberately downwards until it’d rested in her lap. In the next instance, Dieter had straightened his posture and brought the gladius above his head before he’d brought it down in a savage arc. He’d felt a momentary resistance before the gargoyle’s head was severed from its’ scrawny neck, the excessive force sent it hurling into the surging waterways. He’d gave a final swing of the blade to rid it of any potential gore, rotating his wrist inward so that the blade pointed towards his stomach and the hilt faced the child. The child didn’t hesitate to take it from Dieter’s hands. Dieter stepped past Cassialyn momentarily placing a hand upon her shoulder. It lingered for a fraction of a second, just long enough for him to give her a reassuring squeeze.
One of the children came rushing back from the downed Ghosts, she’d skittishly moved back and forth excitably as she’d held out a Canopic Jar, a piece of Arcana and lastly two glass jewels. The other ghost had yielded just two Glass Jewels and a Dark Stone. He’d paused at the Gigantoad to plunge his hand into its’ gullet, wrenching three water stones free of its’ mouth. He’d also daftly gripped its’ horn before applying firm pressure to cleanly break it off at its’ root. Mila knelt beside Cassialyn and reassuringly rubbed her back as she’d gathered two spherical objects that had come dislodged during the beheading – Demon eyeballs. “Its’ okay, he might seem like he is being harsh, but he truly means well… I think he is just concerned for your safety.”
Mila said to Cassialyn before she’d ran towards Dieter to hand over the loot. He’d tucked it into his sachel as he’d began to grab the Gigantoad, straining a bit to move the massive beast – it’d provide a sizable bounty. A few of the other children had already seen to the Dire Rats and dragged back to the elderly women to skin and prepare the meat.
“Alright, I think this is enough for today…… Cassialyn, the children will probably stay in Undertown, would you mind joining me at the Market?”
He’d asked softly, not faulting her if she’d decided to not accompany him.

C assialyn did notice the look in his eyes. To her, it seemed a bit sympathetic to her situation. Which honestly was odd seeing as how he seemed so confident and fine with killing before. It almost irritated her and made her feel weaker than she already felt. She couldn't even kill off a simple monster and he was lobbing off his enemies arms and jabbing his fist right into enemies. She was not built for this at all. She didn't have that strength. She had grown up very well and never had to want or need anything. This world was so different than where she had come from. She felt a bit flustered as Dieter spoke up that she needed to learn to defend herself because he wasn't always going to be around to protect her. He raised his hand and pushed her arm down with her blade in it. She felt extremely awkward and a bit embarrassed at the moment. What was wrong with her? Dieter then handled the situation for her, the dancer flinching a bit and averting her eyes. She knew it was necessary. But, she didn't want to see it or be involved in it. It was an awkward situation all around. The kids were better at this than her. Maybe she should have stayed behind back at the place and assisted with the clean up. It probably would have been less uncomfortable than this. She was a dancer. She wasn't supposed to get anywhere near enemy fire. At least, she never had before. It was obvious by her face that she a bit flustered by the experience. She was feeling less than useful right now as Dieter moved after sheathing his weapon and gave her shoulder a reassuring squeeze. It was a nice gesture. But, it didn't really make her feel better. The woman moved after a few moments to sheath the athame, discarding the flame charred cloth. Her amber eyes glancing over the children as they collected items from the carcasses. It was necessary. They had take the rats back already for their pelts and for the meal as they collected items from the unexpected beasts as well. At least they had a rather decent haul. They would have a nice stash for medications or other needed items. A young voice speaking up, obviously noticing her discomfort. Cass jumped a bit, still in her own little world of self pity. She hated being looked down on. It felt like she was home again with the glance of almost disappointment. Cass glanced and nodded, smiling faintly as she nodded. "Yeah, I'm sure. Maybe the young girl was right. Maybe he wasn't all that disappointed with her. He was just worried about her. The kids did all the looting they could and had everything situated really quickly. At least they had a system going that worked. She didn't want to really get in their way before Dieter said they were done for the day and asked if she would join him to the market. She guessed it was to sell the wares. The dancer nodded a bit. She didn't want to turn another of his requests down, so she had agreed. "Sure..." She really just wanted to go back to her room and be sorry for herself, but she didn't. She had this. She followed the group out of the waterway, instantly removing her shoes and working on ringing them out. They were cloth shoes for the dancing. They usually made her life easier being so flexible. But, maybe it would be worth investing in something that wouldn't end up getting wet and making her sick. She was unusually quite, not really sure what to say after the situation in the tunnels.

| Dieter’s teeth gnashed together as he’d strained beneath the immense weight of the Gigantoad. The Knight nearly toppled backwards as he’d begrudgingly trudged up the stairs that lead back into Lowtown – cursing under his breathe the entire way. By the time he’d reached their starting point, his brow glistened with beads of perspiration. Unlike the children, he’d strained for an additional ten feet in order to reach the drop off point for the Toad. An audible groan slipped from between his lips as he’d shrugged off the immense beast. His eyes clenched shut as he’d braced for the deafening thud as its’ corpse smacked against the ground. He’d took a moment to tentative massage his fatigued muscles, paying no heed to the estranged looks he was given. The trio of elderly woman emerged from their hut, excitably yammering to one another as they’d circled the beast – they’d harvest the edible portions and preserve them.
With that task complete, he’d made his way back towards Cassialyn – whom was preoccupied with ringing the water from her cloth shoes. He’d glanced down at his own sandals, they were nothing more than a series of intricately woven leather straps. Truthfully, he’d never been a fan of boots, nor the heavy armor that Ivalician Knights wore in the past – it made being stealthy impossible, not to every movement felt clunky. Without a word, he’d extended his hands and let them encircle Cassialyn’s, albeit they were roughly five to six inches on either side. His eyes drifted shut as he’d focused on reciting the incantation and channeling his magick – carefully regulating it so it didn’t burn Cassialyn or her cloth shoes. Suddenly, his hands began to radiate a warmth, a thin layer of amaranthine flames dancing upon the surface of his hands. The heat would help dry out her shoes.
“Perhaps, when we go to the bazaar, we can get you some leather sandals or some lightweight boots?”
He’d suggested as he’d thought back upon their harvest for the day. Cewiser toit would have been wiser to circumvent the money – reinvesting it into the children and supplies. However, if Cassialyn chose to accompany them on future hunts, it’d be a bit easier on her. Especially, if they’d went out to the Giza Plains or the Esterstands, he wasn’t sure how much heat those cloth slippers would transfer to the soles of her feet.
“Is there anything, in particular, you’d like to look at in the bazaar?”
He’d inquired, uncertain if Cassialyn had ever frequented Rabanastre’s bustling bazaar before. He'd let dimissed his magical musings with a secondary though, the flame fading away into nothingness as he'd awaited her response.
