[WARNING!: BEAST IS IN A TRIGGERED BERSERK MODE. PLEASE BE REALISTIC ABOUT WHAT THAT WILL MEAN FOR YOUR CHARACTER.]
The more the prince lumbered about, the more doubtful he was that he even knew the reason he was doing so in the first place. If Belle wanted to be back at the castle, that was exactly where she would be. To say he was looking for her, that he was out for her was to fool himself. As it was he’d been gone for some time. Mrs. Potts was probably a spot filled wreck by now, and he knew that if he didn’t head back soon he’d never hear the end of it. Still, he couldn’t shake the feeling that princess of Heart or otherwise, Belle needed him now. It was what had called him to leave, and it was what allowed him to travel the worlds as he was. This one was surprisingly not all that different from his own…it all just seemed so much older and smaller.
He was in the woods for the moment and in the distance he could see a cottage. A painfully small one that he couldn’t get through the door of if he tried. He kept his distance imagining that whoever lived there was likely small enough for that door to make sense. Likely they’d be terrified of him. Even as peaceful as these woods and this glen seemed to be, the Beast couldn’t shake this horrible feeling he had. Something was wrong…something was very wrong. His vision began to blur and he brought his calloused paw up to rest over his brow, his eyes shut tight behind it. His breathing was getting heavier as the red began to fill his vision. Rose petals were falling in his mind and it felt like long sharp fingers were gripping his spine.
The rose. It wasn’t guarded well enough. He’d been a fool to leave it given that there were those that had tried to steal it before. The heartless were drawn to the enchanted rose, the very rose that determined his fate…very soon at that. But Belle did too, did she not? The gut wrenching feeling seized him again and his vision swam, an ebbing growl escaping his chest. The muscles in his shoulders tightened and the Beast threw back his head and unleashed a savage roar, any semblance of humanity entirely gone.

Adventure in the Great Wide Somewhere (I hope this post is okay!)//---//---//@beast
Belle wandered the unknown world with caution and concern; she had returned to the Castle after a trip away, and not only had she been unable to find Beast, but she had noticed a darkish atmosphere about the castle, a gloom that she thought had been banished with their reconciliation, but somethimh was certainly wrong. Upon discovery that the Rose was gone as well, Belle had set out at once to find her Love. It wasn't like him to leave the Castle, and if the Rose was missing, she bet he would be looking for it. Though, honestly, he was more likely to be in a huge rage; she couldn't blame him. Someone had trespassed in the Castle unwelcomed, and stolen a very precious item to the Beast.
So now she walked with hurried steps through an open field, sending up a scattering of fluffy white dandelions as her skirt and apron brushed through what seemed to be a wide-spread patch of the flowers. It reminded her of home, the field outside her father's house; it was where she had dreamed of adventure and exploration. And now she war doing both! So much had changed since then, it seemed so long ago. She smiled at the reminiscing, but her attention was torn away from memories by an echoing, monstrous roar, one she hadn't quite heard before but she still recognized the creator of such a sound. She knew exactly who was roaring.
Her steps quickened, and she turned in the direction the sound came from, her gaze falling upon a forest ahead. He was somewhere inside those trees, quite apparently enraged and, she presumed, lost? She hoped she was in time to help him calm down.
As she hurried into the trees that lined the outer edges of the forest, she was focused on only one thing: finding Beast and doing what she could to help him, though just at the moment she was uncertain what exactly she could do, but she would figure something out; first, she had to find him and assess his situation. She only hoped he would listen to reason.
She saw a clearing through the trees, and she knew she was getting close. It was as she drew nearer to the edge of the glen that she thought she heard the growling and rumbling that could only be Beast. She knew that while he was enraged, it wasn't safe to get too close without his recognition and lucidity. So she stepped just past the treelike, and called out to her Love.
"Where have you been?? I've been worried sick! I got home and realized that you weren't there, and I had no idea how to find you or even where to begin looking, except to follow my heart."

A voice raked over his senses. The Beast had been holding his massive head in his hands moving it slow from side to side, desperate to gain his bearings. Every heaving breath escaped his fangs lips in a throaty growl with every rise and fall of his fur lined chest. His hands, those colossal hands were almost padded canine paws at beast, a grotesque set of jet black talons jutting out in their sad attempt to resemble ‘fingernails.’ At the sound of that voice, that beautiful raw concern a chorus of emotion that truly no one could ever feel for a Beast such as him, the monster’s shoulders rolled backward. He rose to his full height as he slowly lifted his mortifying visage from the safety of his palms.
He knew that voice. He knew that voice better than his own. Over his shoulder, sunken, soulful blue eyes searched out the calming song that was Belle’s voice. His rage subsided slowly and his breathing became more regular. ”Belle?” his voice came out in a soft rumble as he questioned if it was so, if she was really there among the trees. Surely she couldn’t be. As a princess of light she had so much more to be concerned about. He had no choice but to let her go, so that was exactly what he did. But there. It truly was her. He had to be seeing things. He took a shaking step toward her, the red still tugging at the corners of his vision. His heart throbbed in his chest from his earlier state of terror. ”You…came to find me?” he asked for her confirmation in disbelief. He was hobbling, consciously withdrawing into himself as he approached her. He was a monster after all, completely unpredictable. Then that twinge of rage practically slapped him across the face. The rose really was compromised. He could feel it. Where? Who would dare?
The Beast snarled aloud and quickly backed away from her toward the opposite side of the clearing. His outrage tugged at his eyes, tunneling his vision. His head felt like it was splitting open. ”Stay AWAY!” he tried to warn her but it came out more like the growling warning a wolf would give before going directly for the throat. He brought his arms up over his horned head, shaking and struggling with himself.

Adventure in the Great Wide Somewhere (We'll save him yet!)//---//---//@beast
She was most relieved when her Love seemed to come to himself, though it was clear he was far from calm and collected; indeed, his distress was almost palpable in the relative quiet of the little clearing. He looked to her, and she approached him carefully, not wanting to cause him any more stress or anguish than he already appeared to be carrying. She wished he would not be so swift to hide himself away, to shut others out. She wanted to be with him, to help him, but she felt she could not do so when he turned away from her in moments like this. Except that this particular moment was far more stressful and emotional than she has seen in a long long time. It seemed that the last time she had seen him this terribly enraged and upset was when that horrid man had come to the castle and tried to turn her Love into a monster through his anger and self doubt. When that had failed (thanks to Sora coming to the rescue) the awful Xaldin had used the Enchanted Rose to lure her into a trap; to make Beast choose between the Rose and his Belle. Thankfully, she had a very strong elbow and was able to escape from that horrible man.
This time, however, someone had trespassed into their home and stolen Beast's personal and private possession, and so this anger was righteously warranted. Belle was concerned, though, about his temper and the possibility someone might come along and either try to end him, like Gaston had tried to, or become frightened of his rage and run to sound an alarm.
As Beast looked to her before withdrawing, Belle nodded to him, seeing his deep blue eyes and pausing when he seemed to completely relapse into the onset of great rage once more. She didn't draw any closer; in fact, she reached into the pocket of her apron and pulled out a book. She opened it, looking to Beast as he growls and smarts like the wolves that roamed the wilderness beyond the castle grounds. She recalled the day he had saved her, when she had run away and been completely unprepared for the wolves and their ferocity. Beast had shown his heart when he had rescued her, and he was injured while doing so. She had tended those wounds, and they had had a quiet moment together, however brief it had been. She spoke softly and calmly to him, knowing that he may not hear her in his state, but she knew she had to try something.
"I know you will not hurt me; after all, you saved me from certain death in our earlier days, remember? I would have been destroyed if you had not come to my rescue; You had been fiercely angry with me before that, but you risked your own safely to help me. I will never forget that. And the stories we've read..in the library by the grand fireplace, how we went on adventures in Arabian Nights, how we marveled over the trials of Heracles, and this one tale in particular, we went over, for the love that never was.."
She turned the page of the open book in her hands, and after taking a breath, began to read aloud.
"I bring you a tale of love, unrequited, of star-crossed hearts, this story we well know; for never was more a tale of woe than that of Juliet, and her Romeo.”

Belle drew closer and the monster bucked away from her, his haunches raised like an animal backed into a corner, his teeth bared and his mouth frothing in his warning growl. "I went out looking for you and now the rose! YOU STAYED AWAY TOO LONG!" he blamed her between jagged teeth. She spoke anyway, his ever fearless belle willing to speak to him with confidence regardless of the fact that he could tear her throat to ribbons in one misplaced sweep of his claws. She insisted that he would never hurt her and while she was right that he never wanted to, of course the fear that he might plagued him every day. When the anger took over even he wasn't sure what he was capable of. Belle continued to grace him with her words but that nagging twinge gnawed at his heart like so many insistent little biting insects. He roared, shoving his forearms over his face, shaking and struggling with himself.
Belle tried another approach as he continued to shift warily away from her. She drew closer again and he shook his head at her, trembling in his effort to keep himself at bay, his horns poking up around his forearms. She opened a book and the sound of the page turning brought those wild blue eyes to peer up at her with curiosity. What was she...? Belle began to read and he continued to peer at her, his breathing still labored, his heart still thundering in his chest but for the moment, he was coming down led carefully by her beautiful voice. Still shaking he remained where he was just listening to her. As she read his tensed muscles and bristled fur began to slowly fall, his senses dulling. When she finished the page and turned it he tentatively reached out and placed a shaking padded set of fingertips on her arm. He took a deep breath and calmly tried to explain. "Ah I'm sorry...for yelling. You said you'd come by the castle more and I started to get...ah...I started to get worried. But...in my search I left my castle unattended and now I think someone took it. The rose...it's gone. I have to find it!" even as he was trying to explain he was starting to feel enraged again.

Adventure in the Great Wide Somewhere (We'll save him yet!)//---//---//@beast
As she read, she watched Beast carefully, feeling a sort of knot inside at seeing him so very upset, and yet trying so hard to fight his temper. She would continue to read, hearing his outburst and understanding it, nodding that she acknowledged his words, but she could see that he was changing, perhaps even calming down. He wasn't lashing out, in her mind, he was venting frustration and the things that were causing his such great stress and mental anguish. She did feel bad, however, for part of his words were true; she had been away much longer than she had intended, and indeed longer than he had expected. She would finish the page, and when she turned it, she felt her Love's hand on her arm, trembling a bit, but gently placed, with soft pads grasping gently.
She listened to him as he explained in a quieter time, and even apologizing for yelling, and she placed her own hand over his, feeling that he needed a good deal of reassurance, seeing as how he was dealing with a lot. She could also read the worry in his words; perhaps she wouldn't come back, she would just leave, for who could love a Beast? These words and others were ones she had heard time and again in their time together, and each time she had aimed to persuade him otherwise, to help him lose the self-doubt and to believe in himself, and in them. Her time away had indeed been rather lengthy, much longer than she (or he) had originally anticipated. She would look up at him, to meet his deep blue eyes with her soft brown eyes, her expression showing that she heard him and understood.
"I know this must have been very hard on you; I am sorry, too, I did not realize how much time passed while I was away. I would have come home sooner if I had been aware of how long I had been away. I did miss you. As for the Rose, we can find it together, all right? Please, let me help you with this. I do not want you to bear this on your own; you have carried so much already."

He'd been shaking, his words still laced with feral growls. His tone was too foul and icy. He hated that he couldn't make his speech more refined toward her. He was a prince after all and a well read one at that! Her hand soft as rose petals and nearly half the size of his was placed over his hand. For just a brief moment he'd thought that touching her had been a bit too forward of him and his body tensed but then he slowly relaxed, each tuft of bristled fur slowly falling as she told him that she'd never meant to stay away so long...that she meant to come home much sooner. That she'd missed him.
Animal-like ears perked up and blue soulful eyes grew wide before darting away. He didn't feel worthy of staring into her beautiful honest gaze. The Beast wasn't sure he'd ever been missed by anyone before. It made his heart feel like it was swollen inside his chest. Belle went on to say that they would find the rose but they would do so together and the Beast's eyes bulged at the idea of willingly putting her in danger. "But it's too dangerous." he protested, that lingering rage morphing into clear pace-worthy anxiety. "I wouldn't be able to live with myself if something happened to you, Belle." he confessed a bit begrudgingly. He was no good at these things. His other paw sailed backward to scratch uncomfortably at the back of his head as he made that confession.

Adventure in the Great Wide Somewhere (We'll save him yet!)//---//---//@beast
Belle felt an immense sense of tenderness as she watched her Love. To others he might seem like a monster, beastly in form and figure, not to mention temperament at times, but she knew there was much more to him than just what appeared to be. He was kind, caring, moreso since their experiences together and the trials they had faced. There had been a couple of moments where Belle was afraid; not of him, but of the burden he carried so deeply; she feared that he might, just might, see no hope in trying any more. Those thoughts were few and far between. She truly believed in him, that they could find their way in the world, to be together as happily and lovingly as any other couple deserved to be, but she knew that this was hard for him. He was not yet really used to the thought that someone could love him, would love him, and see not the Beast but the heart beneath, the heart that was uncertain about things like this love and the worries that plauged him.
He was certainly not alone in his concern and anxiety. They were still learning, still seeking one another, discovering things together that neither one had known before. Sure, one could dream of romance and adventure and magic spells, but it was quite another thing to actually live in such a story. She knew that not many would face the Beast, let alone try to understand him, but she had seen his true heart, and she knew that somehow, some way, they could find a way to break the curse that beleaguered him so. And here was an opportunity to spend time together away from the Castle, away from people who might attack or cause more concern and anxiety for him. He met her eyes, and she gazed into the deep blue, as if seeing to his very soul; a soul that had been humbled and now bore determination (faltering at times) and devotion, even if he himself couldn't see it. She knew, just knew, that his true self was not the monster anyone (or indeed, Beast himself) assumed he was.
He looked away, though, and she gently, tenderly, reached out, hoping to turn his face back to her. His anxiety was growing again, he needed to be calm, reassured. A soft smile formed on her face as she looked up at him.
"I don't know if you've noticed, but being apart seems to not be the best of ideas; I do know that it's a dangerous task but I also accept that. I am not a damsel in distress... Except that one time.."
She tilted her head sightly, wondering if he, too, recalls that snowy evening when she ran away, and was ambushed by wolves.

Belle pointed out that she was never the sort of girl to cry out in distress just for him to come along and save her. Even the day she'd run off and he ended up having to save her from the wolves, she'd fought them off until she just didn't have any more options. It seemed to him that day that she was more concerned with saving the horse than herself too, something that just made him want to roar at her...but he didn't. Her compassionate self-sacrificing nature was just another thing that had him wrapped around her dainty little fingers.
He grunted, acknowledging her point, even if he didn't necessarily like it. "Very well. Together then." he voiced his verbal pact. "So you'll...come home?" It was almost impossible to hide the fragile hopefulness in his voice at the question. With Belle around, she could help him think of the things that didn't occur to him in his outrage. With the...the rose gone it was hard for him to even see straight before he was seething mad about it again. He loosed a defeated sigh and he took her hand into his massive paw and led the way out of the clearing, his feet thudding over the mossy grass with every step as he lumbered.
