Material? Check. Extra gil? Check. Potions and such? Check! Rina was all ready.
Once a year the young girl would make a trek across Spira, tracing the footsteps of the summoners from years ago. Rina went full native and just immersed herself into the world's culture. She went from place to place starting in the Isle of Besaid and ending in the ruins of Zanarkand. Her purpose? Selling her wares, while cleansing her soul. When the going was starting to get rough and she didn't think she could do it anymore, she knew that was it time to go to Spira.
Rina took with her an array of materials, tapestries, potions, trinkets, and the occasional weapon. She would also offer herself as a seamstress to anyone who needed something made or mended. She also trained anyone in the magic arts if they were willing to pay the price. Rina would do almost anything to make some gil. She in fact had did almost everything (illegal and not) to make money. This weighed heavy on her more often than not. But that was okay. Spira was like a healing balm to Rina. It took all of the pain away. It was one of her favorite places to visit.
Rina stepped out of the inn with her satchel strapped across her back. The island sun felt good on her face. She had made a decent amount of money the day before and thought it was time to move on to Kilika Port. She'd make more on materials there anyway. Waving goodbye to her island friends, she started up the hill and headed towards the beach. The ferry to Kilika would be leaving soon.
Today is the perfect day to leave. The weather is nice and I bet the waters are calm. Let's go.

The puppet slowly got up off the ground as the key in her back was turning. Suly had only just fallen from one of the Corridors, the Heartless seemed to leave her alone, but she didn't understand where she was or what was going on. Her creator wasn't here, so here wasn't good to her. The puppet stepped around in her position as she looked over the beach that had been behind her. Water itself seemed not very friendly in her regard, she didn't know if her gears would last in there.
Turning the other side, there was a hill. Thus, the wind-up doll started to climb upward while her key kept turning. She could turn the key herself, keep herself moving, but right now she didn't need to as she still had enough winded. Also her creator had infused her with time magic, so it wasn't like she could remain silent for long.
Her walking went difficult, Suly noted her body had been damaged a bit from before. She didn't want to think too much on it. Perhaps she could try and revert time far enough to be back home, but she was told not to depend on it too much. Finally up the hill, the puppet looked around for other people, she did notice some as she swayed a bit in place, looking like she was half in a crouch. Her black marble eyes lacked color and whites and her body was all mechanical, making it easy to see for others that she was no human.

| Dieter’s nostrils flared as he’d gradually exhaled the stagnant air from his lungs, ignoring the burning sensation that emanated from his tensed muscles – he’d been motionless for hours as he’d observed his prey. His slender, alabaster fingers tightened around the worn leather wrapped around the hilt of his blade as he’d mentally prepared himself to strike down one of the Oversouled Coyotes – the problem was the remaining four that patrolled nearby. He’d mentally cursed their honed pack mentality, pleasantly surprised that they weren’t nearly as mindless as he’d assumed. However, before he could launch his assault, their heads snapped in the direction of the main road. He could faintly hear the audible grow raising in their chest, their maws dripping with fresh saliva at the prospect of fresh meat. He couldn’t risk warning either of the women that were traversing the Hill without exposing himself.
His teeth sunk into his lower lip, almost to the point of drawing blood as he’d tensed his quad muscles. When the first Coyote bolted forward, he’d propelled himself from the thick branch he’d been perched on. His blade arced outwards as he’d descended, its’ sharp edge severing the tendon in the back of one of the Coyote’s leg. Before it could even let out a pained yelp, his flicked his blade a second time and severed its’ leg in its’ entirety. He’d smiled to himself as the beast howled in pain, once more drawing the packs attention to him. His blade arced out a third time, this time severing the wounded beast’s head from its’ body – it’d outlived its usefulness for the time being. When his prey turned to face him, they’d assume the role of the predator and lunged after him. He’d chuckled to himself as he’d sprinted through the dense foliage.
It took him perhaps two minutes to escape the thicket and find himself midway up the hill. His head snapped to the left and the right, noting the presence of Rina and Suly – the latter was far more intriguing due to the fact he could see some manner of machinery spinning behind her back. Before he could question it any further, his eyes snapped forward as three of the two of the fiends emerged from the brush. Where are the other two? , he’d questioned before he’d seen a flicker of motion in both of his peripherals – they were going after the other two travelers. His annoyance intensified, nothing was going according to his plan.
“Watch out! Fiends!”
Dieter shouted before the duo of Coyotes lunged at him, forcing him to step backwards to avoid their gnashing jaws. His lips continued to move in silence as he’d recited memorized scriptures within his head before extending his hand outwards. Before the Coyote realized what was happening, a cone of amaranthine flames spiraled from Dieter’s hand and ignited its’ fur. The sudden display of magic also forced the second Coyote to momentarily retreat, regarding its’ foe with an increased wariness.

Everything happened so quickly that Rina almost was attacked by the Coyote. If the young man farther up the hill hadn't yelled to her and the other girl, Rina would have been taken completely by surprise. She might have walked into an ambush. Rina stopped where she was at and tightened her satchel around her. The man probably needed back up to take care of the fiends. Rina sprinted the distance between them and summoned her silver daggers into her hands. "Hey! You need some help over here?"
Rina took a defensive stance with her daggers. Her yelling had caught the attention of one of the Coyotes and it started to stalk towards her. "Hyah!" Rina tossed her daggers at the fiend cutting it deep in its side. A second later the daggers appeared back in her hands. The attack only made the Coyote more angry and it lunged at Rina trying to take a bite out of her. With a scream Rina fell back onto the ground with her daggers crossed in front of her, keeping the fiend at bay. She wouldn't last long though. "Guess this is a job for magic! Dark Needles!" With her palm against the ground she summoned a barrage of needle-like projections made of Darkness to raise up and stab the Coyote. With a yelp it jumped back from her and burst into pyreflies. Rina jumped back up.
"That was way too close..."

The key in her back clicked forward while Suly looked up at the call. Having gotten up the hill, she wasn't expecting things to happen here like it did. She now rather had stayed down the hill. Watching the man fight simply frightened her a little bit. When the two coyotes came up towards them, the other girl had moved to aid the man and lured one towards herself before attacking it. The other seemed to come her way, confused she held up a hand as the coyote that leapt towards her seemed to simply freeze while floating in the air. The key clicked backwards on her back as the coyote was launched backwards and toppled back down the hill. Suly simply watched it before it found itself to a halt.
The coyote started to run away and Suly didn't really care. Her focus had gone to the other two as the girl near her had already dispatched one of them. The seemingly cross dressing man had taken care of some too, she didn't know how many there had been, but apart from the one she had launched backwards, there was another still moving around that the man had been fighting. "Wh-what is going on?" she raised as a question, completely confused. This was nowhere what she had been expecting and the situation just didn't help her understand. For now she stayed standing atop the hill, the key clicking forward again.

| Dieter’s heart plummeted to the pit of his stomach when he heard Rina’s scream, his attention momentarily diverted away from his two aggressors. He saw her prone form beneath the Coyote, her blades crossed in an X in an attempt to keep it from lunging for her throat. Before he could attempt to assist, he’d registered the sound of the Coyote’s paws as it sprinted towards him. His eyes narrowed as he’d locked his back leg to the ground, pivoting his entire upper body as he’d swung his blade down in an arc. A pained yelp echoed across the impromptu battlefield, it’d lasted for a fraction of a second before it drifted off into silence. Dieter’s blade passing through its’ body with surprising ease before it’d bit harshly into the ground – the resulting impact sent a shower of debris at the singed Coyote. He faintly registered the mechanical whirling of the key in Suly’s back as it’d suddenly shifted gears. This detail was overshadowed by a more pressing issue as the singed Coyote leapt forward and attempted to lunge for his throat. Dieter’s hand shifted on the hilt as he’d swung it at an awkward upward angle. It found purchase in the soft exposed flesh of the beast’s underbelly, it’d let out a pained yelp as Dieter’s blade fell back down towards the ground. Dieter’s foot smashed down upon its’ head forcing it down onto the blade, which resulted into its’ body dissipating into a flurry of pyreflies. It’d left behind a few of its’ fangs and a claw as proof that it’d existed. His head craned in Suly’s direction just in time to see the Coyote barreling back down the hill – its’ body jostled back and forth by an invisible force. When it landed, it’d looked back at the woman on the hill in fear, its’ head lowering before it bolted back off into the brush. Dieter’s head turned in Rina’s direction just in time to see the plethora of opaque sable needles run through the Coyote’s body. The Dark Knight breathed an audible sigh of relief, his shoulders visibly sagging as the tension dissipated. Though he didn’t examine either of the travelers up close, their movements and posture suggested that neither had been gravely injured. He’d looked at Rina for a moment than turned towards Suly before he’d reverted his attention the ground.
“Sorry, I was hunting a pack of the fiends for the Besaid Elders… I guess I’d spent more time observing them than I’d thought… Are either of you hurt?”

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"]❝ Rina walked up to the brightly dressed boy, shaking her head at his question. She looked herself up and down. “No, I’m fine. Just a little shaken. Wasn’t expecting a fight today. Are you okay?” Rina looked the boy up and down. He didn’t look injured. From afar she could have sworn that it had been a girl fighting off the fiends, but up-close Rina could see it was a boy. A very pretty boy, but a boy none the less. He was a bit taller than Rina and lanky. He was dressed in a pale pink garment and his long blonde hair was blowing lightly in the island breeze. Rina thought that that very breeze could have blown him away, but she had witnessed herself that he could expertly handle some fiends. A breeze wouldn’t hurt him. The longer she looked at him, the more interested she became. Where does one find such beauty? I wish I had hair and skin like that…oh well. At this point, Rina turned to the girl with the key in her back. She didn’t look injured either. “And what about you? Are you alright?” This girl was beautiful as well, but she wasn’t human in the least. Rina thought she actually looked a lot like herself only…different. She looked like a doll actually. She can’t be a doll, can she? She has magic and talks…huh. I wonder what that story is. Maybe she’ll enlighten me.What interesting company I’ve found. This trip should be fun. “I’m Rina, by the way. Suly moved, somewhat slumped, towards the other two. The coyote she sent down had fled, so that wasn't an issue any longer. Looking over the two others, they appeared somewhat odd to her. Then she remembered some of the other towns did cloth completely different from Halloween Town, so she shouldn't comment appearances. While Suly's clothing was for a part tattered, it was meant to be tattered. It'd be strange, and feel strange, if her clothing was in peak condition. However, her body wasn't damaged.
Looking over the boy in the pale dress and the girl in also light, but also dark at the side dress. Two fighters in dresses appeared odd to her, but they could very well be non-fighters? They had appeared capable to Suly. "Not.. hurt," she replied, somewhat slow while still studying the two others, "only lost, no physical problems," she continued, looking over the girl again, "are you from here?" From the girl to the boy, Suly watched if either would reply, her face remained in a neutral position. Cracks were around her eyes and mouth, which might seem odd to some, but it was simply part of her appearance.
Suly was not used to not being in Halloween Towen, so places like these worried her. She hoped her master was alright, her memories were a little all over the place. Her way of thinking was still trying too get back on track. Meanwhile she hoped these two had some answers and maybe some guidance. Perhaps the elders the boy spoke of might help.

| Dieter nodded his head promptly in response to Rina’s concerned inquiry, reluctant to admit aloud that his pride as a Mark Hunter had taken a definitive blow – he’d made a rookie mistake and had endangered two travelers. If the traveling merchant paid close enough attention, she’d no doubt notice how the corner of his lips sagged downwards for a fraction of a second. Now that the adrenaline coursing through his veins had burnt itself up, instinct gave way to fatigue and more importantly reason. Yes, now the gravity of the situation hit him like a metaphorical behemoth. The Dark Knight questioned himself, mentally recreating a scenario in which it hadn’t been Rina or Suly but instead a child or Elder from the village – his scenario had a notably more tragic ending. Without so much as a word, Dieter’s head craned in Suly’s direction as she’d made her way down the worn path towards them.
Even from afar, Dieter noted that she was hunched forward, her clothing was in tattered and the mechanical whirring he’d heard earlier grew louder as she’d neared them. Where was it coming from though? Before Dieter could dwell on such a thought, he heard an audible click as the key in Suly’s back turned – now a portion of it was visible from where he stood. He stared at it in disbelief, uncertain of what to make of it. Certainly, Ivalice had made great strives with their technological advances, however they’d never managed to create such a refined masterpiece – well that was to his knowledge. Strangely enough, Dieter still thought Suly was breathtaking, albeit the unnatural pallor of her skin and the numerous hard lines carved into her face made her a bit eerie.
Dieter breathed an audible sigh of relief when Suly admitted that she was uninjured, although that raised the question – why was her clothing to tattered? He’d coughed once or twice to clear his throat before he’d answered Suly’s question.
“No, I am not, I hail from Ivalice… My duties as a Mark Hunter require me to travel… Where do ye hail from?
When he spoke, his tone was soft yet it held a reassuring edge to it, that was until he’d begun to inquire about the homeworld of Rina and Suly.

She saw the disappointment flicker over his features, before his face went back to normal. Rina lowered her eyes, hoping he hadn’t seen her staring. Rina understood being disappointed in yourself. It was a feeling she knew and hated very well.
The girl was happy to hear that neither of her two companions had been injured in the scuffle. The doll girl looked a little worse for wear, like she had fought through a horde right before she arrived. Rina thought that a little disconcerting, but didn’t think too much about it. She felt safe enough around the strange girl.
After everyone had confirmed their safety, introductions were starting to be made. The doll girl had asked Rina and Dieter if they were from Spira. The pretty boy had said he was from Ivalice. Rina had never heard of it, but she bet it was a beautiful place. Rina shook her head at the girl’s question. “No. I’m not from here, but I like to think of Spira as a home away from home. I come here often. My home is Radiant Garden. Where are you from, love?” She gently touched the doll girl’s arm.

Looking from one to the other, Rina called the place Spira from what she understood. Suly didn't know any towns called Spira, Radiant Garden, or Ivalice. "I am Suly..." she responded slow, "from Halloween Town. I've not heard from these towns you're from," she heard from places the holidays visited, which were outside worlds, but she didn't expect herself to suddenly leave her world.
Looking around, Suly pondered what to do, "know where to go to return?" she didn't really know what was going on in the first place.

| The Dark Knight’s head lazily tilted to the right as he’d begun a systematic scan of the shrubbery, diligently searching for any unnatural movement of the brush – certain that the Oversouled Coyote was lying in wait. Out of his peripherals, he’d noticed how Rina’s gaze seemed to linger on him for a bit. When he’d turned in her direction, her gaze immediately drifting down towards the ground, he’d paid it little mind though. He’d breathed an audible sight of relief as his shoulders dipped downwards, the previously taunt muscles relaxing. His blade arced outwards in a practiced motion, his blade shifting behind his back and finding refuge within the makeshift wyvern-skin sling-sheath. He’d knelt down to the ground, snatching up the fangs, claws that the two fiends he’d dispatched had left in their wake. He’d rolled the ivory specimen back and forth in his hand as he’d inspected them for any notable defects – they could be used for trinkets and charms not to mention weaponry accents.
Rina’s retort to Suly’s question revealed that she wasn’t a denizen of Spira, however she’d frequented it often enough – claiming that it was a proverbial home away from home. When she mentioned her home, Radiant Garden, Dieter couldn’t help but imagine a world covered with lush plant life. Before he could inquire further, Rina had already reached towards Suly and placed a reassuring hand on her arm. Suly’s introduction was slow and timid, although her word choice prompted him to believe that wherever she was from wasn’t particularly big. What kind of place was Halloween Town? Were all of its’ denizens as unsettling as Suly? Dieter could only wonder to himself for the time being as Suly inquired about whether Rina or himself knew where to go to return to her World. His response was a curt shake of his head, Dieter knew he could use the moogle’s transportation set up if he had coordinates – he doubted Suly possessed those.
Her other option was perhaps to use one of the Corridors of Darkness left by the Heartless, although that was a dangerous gambit – there was no guarantee she’d end up where she’d intended to go. “ Thou art sorry, Thou doesn’t know… Town? Ivalice isn’t town… it is an entire World”
He’d informed Suly regrettable, his tone slightly downtrodden.

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"]❝ It was like a lightbulb had went off in Rina’s head. Suly’s mystery was becoming clearer. The girl said she hailed from Halloween Town, and that was all Rina needed to know. Rina herself hadn’t been there, but she had heard stories and seen pictures. Suly’s spooky and doll appearance were typical sights to see in that town.
Suly’s predicament was something else all together. Returning the girl to her home was something that was probably not within Rina’s power. Rina herself used an old Gummi ship to make her way around the worlds, but her journey on Spira had just begun. It would be a good while before she was ready to return to Radiant Garden. Couldn’t the girl just return the way she came? Probably not, since she was asking for help back. Maybe Dieter would have some answers.
“Well Suly. I’m not really sure how to get you back home. I wouldn’t care to give you a ride if you wouldn’t mind waiting on me. I have a lot of business to attend to here in Spira, but I could always use a companion. You too, Dieter. You’re both more than welcome to accompany me, if you’d like.”
Rina gave both of them a small smile. She’d be more than happy if they came with her. Sometimes her journeys were so lonely, and you never knew when trouble would spring up. Rina was more than capable of handling herself, but backup was always welcomed. | [attr="class","white"] [attr="class","night"] [attr="class","burstmini"]@suly [attr="class","burstmini"]247 words [attr="class","burstmini"]notes: n/a |

Suly was surprised by Dieter's way of speaking suddenly. It seemed old and much like some she knew would use. Mostly the old masters, she didn't hear Nis use it much. "I-I'm sorry," she responded as she heard that the places weren't towns, but worlds. She knew of other worlds, especially since the Holidays were brought from her own to the many out there. Perhaps she could find one of them to move back. She wasn't very familiar with the worlds outside.
The girl, Rina, suggested on coming with her. "I d-don't m-mind," she stuttered calm and nodded her head, "but i-it isn't th-the Hallow-ween season, s-so I sh-shouldn't be here on o-other worlds," she tried explaining. "W-w-w-w-wouldn't my app-appearance be off?" Looking back and forth between the two, she pondered on what to do. But she honestly didn't mind coming along, but she didn't want to go and scare people either. Still, she was made to help out, so this felt like a calling.
Looking over Dieter, "wh-what kind of w-w-world is Ivalice?" she asked with a slight smile, showing some of the cracks in her face to widen. Due to his way of speaking the last sentences, she was rather curious if it was an old world, more an ancient setting than others. It picked at her curiosity since her master was a bit like that.

| Dieter’s reply to Suly’s apology was a dismissive shake of his head. In his personal opinion, her ignorance hadn’t warranted an apology – he’d only known of the plethora of unexplored worlds for a short period of time himself. Plus, if it weren’t for his encounter with other-worlders such as Zidane, Ivonne, and Ciru-Ajiru; each of whom made a lasting impression upon him. A faint chuckle slipped from between his lips as he’d reminisced upon the trouble each one had caused, some by no fault of their own. Rina’s offer for him to accompany her on her travels was met with a curt shake of his head. Regrettably, Dieter’s duties wouldn’t permit him to do so, however, he could at least escort them safely down to the docks – it would at least serve to partially rectify his carelessness.
“No need to apologies, Lady Suly, I only learned of other worlds recently myself. Alas, Lady Rina, I cannot accompany you, however, I can provide you safe-passage to the docks, it is the least I can do for endangering the two of you.”
Dieter stated, his tone firm and authoritative – refusal wouldn’t be permitted. Meanwhile, it’d appeared that Suly was far more receptive to Rina’s offer for companionship. Poor thing, she certainly is quite nervous. The Dark Knight mused to himself, his lips curved upwards into a mirthful grin as it’d reminded him of the Orphans of Low Time – their demeanor was quite similar when he’d caught them red-handed breaking his proposed tenants. Certainly, the Dark Knight was harder on them than he needed to be, albeit, the intentions he harbored were pure – he simply wanted the best for them. The same could have been said about Cassailyn, one of the newer addition to Helios’ Ambitions ranks. Despite her reluctance to train, Dieter continued to push the envelope, harping upon the foundations. Why? If one hadn’t mastered the foundations, they would eventually falter – complacency and mediocrity would set in.
“Ivalice, it is quite beautiful, I don’t think anyone one man knows its’ secrets.” He replied cryptically, his facial expression remained unchanged inspite of the discomfort he felt as the cracks in Suly’s face widened – that was certinaly unnerving.
