Personality:
Rina was born a two-sided coin of the universe. Contained within her is both light and dark, and these two elements fight inside of her every single day. Haunted by what the Darkness had once led her to do, she prefers to spend time by herself. It's not that she's anti-social, but sometimes one can find better clarity on one's own. This makes her have only a handful of very close friends, but she loves and cherishes those friends more than anything.
Her friends and loved ones are what give her the strength to carry on in her life and over come her obstacles. Even in the moments where she was truly alone she would call upon her precious memories to keep her on the right path. Rina is loyal to a fault and will stand by her friends no matter what. They were always there for her, so she would gladly return the favor.
Likes:Rice balls, (onigiri), cats, rock music
Dislikes:Vegetables, large crowds, hot weather
Strong Points: Unbeliveanly loyal, intelligent, loves with all of her heart
Weak Points: Being alone, memories of her past, tempataion of the Darkness
History:
One cold stormy night a baby girl was born. She was loved immensely by her parents and had her world not been destroyed by the Darkness she would have grown up and become the matriarch of a well off family and would have lived a happy life. However, that was not too be. When the Darkness came down to devour her home her parents were tragically killed in the destruction of their world. Rina never knew how as a toddler she survived the onslaught and somehow made it to the idyllic world of Radiant Garden. She made it with just a small wound over her heart. She’d find out as she got older that the Darkness did something to her that night and she’d be wooed by the Darkness for the rest of her life.
She grew up in an orphanage in the town and she was well taken care of. It was at this time that the barriers between worlds started to collapse and Radiant Garden was lost to the Darkness, just like her original home. She ended up in Traverse Town like so many others. She didn’t enjoy her time here and when she turned 16 she decided it was time to go explore the wide universe. She nicked a bit of munny, stole a Gummi ship from Cid Highwind's shop and took off. She wasn’t going to look back.
Rina made her way across so many worlds. Gaia and Spira and Destiny Islands were some of her favorites. While in Gaia Rina got into some trouble with some shady people and was saved by a man who Rina would later find out had been in the SOLDIER program. He had the most interesting eyes. This man would end up becoming Rina's first love and also first heartbreak. He took a lonely orphan and trained her and hardened her physically to become a very talented warrior. She would have excelled in the SOLDIER program. Their first anniversary the former SOLIDER gifted to Rina a pair of silver daggers that Rina would cherish for the rest of her life. She trained with them and excelled with those as well. For the first time in a long time she felt like she belonged somewhere. She even started to bounty hunt and dabble in being a mercenary with her lover. She wasn’t necessarily proud of that, but it paid the bills. Good things never last, however.
The work that Rina had found herself in started to wear on her soul. The people that she had killed and hurt and sleighted, and in turn the people that had hurt her became too much. She wanted out. Her SOLDIER didn't want her to leave. Wouldn't let her leave. So just like she did as a teenager, under the cover of night she ran away. Even though they had a place to live and even had been married for a short while made no difference. This was not where she needed to be.The small life she had built in Gaia had been uprooted and, so she started off to make a new one somewhere else. But it happened again. And again. And again. Every time she found a home for herself and people to care for she messed it up in one way or another. So she’d run. She had run all over the universe, it felt like. She was running out of places to go.
Rina decided to go home. She hadn’t been back to Radiant Garden since it had been restored and she was excited to go back. She planned to settle down for once. Maybe find a man to be steady with again. Get this Darkness thing under control and keep the nightmares at bay. That’s all she really wanted. Peace for once.
Physical Description:
Rina is a teeny thing at only 5’2”. She’s of average weight with curves where it counts, and she has an athletic musculature. Her skin is the color of cream. She has long black hair that is well past her bum when down, but she almost always has it in a ponytail. Her eyes are a deep midnight blue. Her eyes are her favorite feature.Quotes:
Rina has three tattoos. One on her wrist (a tulip), one on her shoulder (a sunflower), and one around her thigh (a crown made of daises). She has plans for more. Rina always wears combat boots and a leather jacket. If you see her out of these staples something is probably wrong.
Rina also has scars all across her back and torso, mostly from her many bounty hunting and mercenary excursions. Sometimes the people she went after, ended up coming after her and doing twice the damage. She uses her jacket to cover up the ones that criss cross over her shoulders and into her arms. She's not horrifically scarred, but there are a great many of them. People definitely stare.
"You won't like me when I'm angry."
Roleplaying Sample:
It was a cool Saturday in Radiant Garden. Clouds were obscuring the sun and the winds were almost biting. Fall was setting in nicely. This was Rina’s favorite kind of weather. The perfect sort of weather for Rina to do her usual Saturday routine. Ever since Rina returned to her home of the Garden she would wake up early every Saturday. The sun wouldn’t even be up yet. She would shower, wash her hair, get dressed and then like a shadow make her way quietly through town. Rina rarely came across anybody else, but if she did she would wave politely and carry on her way. She was going to the Dark Depths.
She had a satchel strapped across her today. In it were just a few potions, and they were tinkling against each other as she walked through the fissure made of crystal that cut through the surrounding mesas. This was probably her favorite place to come and hide, like she was a pearl in a spiny shell. Some of the crystals surrounding her were both sharp and beautiful, just like her. Rina liked to run her hands over them, feeling the coolness of the crystal and the sharp edges that made their tops. Some were almost sharp enough to cut you. Sharp and beautiful. A rye smile crossed her lips. I bet this is what my heart looks like now…just a pretty casing with nothing left inside.
The trek across the Maw was quiet. A few small Heartless appeared, but it was nothing Rina couldn’t handle. Like a perfect machine she dispatched them with very little effort. Her silver daggers flew from her hands impaling the scrawny things, before appearing back into her hands. She finished them off with a little bit of magic and that was that. They would be back though. Keyblade wielder she was not. Oh well. More things to practice on, right?
Here she was. The Dark Depths. The sun was starting to come up behind Villain’s Vale, spreading light across the blue flats. “Perfect timing”, Rina said softly. She walked over to the edge of the cliff and gently lowered herself down to sit. Her legs swung gently into the air. This was her Saturday routine. Come all the way out here, away from civilization, and watch the sunrise. It made her feel something that she never felt anymore. Made her feel like she could live beyond the things that have happened to her and that she’ll be happy. Maybe just for this small moment, but Rina cherished these small moments. Sunrises made her happy.
