Alessandro was pretty sure that, with the tension so high in the room, if someone coughed unexpectly the room would be filled with gunfire. He felt the weight of his two pistols tucked into the back of his belt. He waited impatiently, taking another drag off of his cigarette, listening to Elena talk of her sister. He knew it had to be a shock, as they were all legally dead. Alex waited until Tseng had finished speaking to respond, but was cut off by Rufus before he had the chance to speak.
Rufus talked business first, talking of the energy crisis and converting Mako Reactors into Geothermal plants. There would be some resistance to anything they did with those old reactors. Too many of them had met with disaster in one shape or another. His mind instantly thought to Gongaga and the wreckage that now lays where the reactor used to.
"Good luck convincing the people of Corel to trust anything you guys do with those things. While it sounds like a good plan, the people still don't think too highly of anything Shin-Ra...even if it isn't under that name anymore. I'd build new plants before transforming the old ones. Let 'em see how they should work before putting something into an old reactor. Everyone's going to look at Gongaga and Corel and think of you guys if you don't give them a reason to look at something else for an example."
Rufus had addressed him next. Suddenly, his pistols felt a lot lighter in his pocket. It seemed as if Rufus would reenlist him.
"Rest assured, my aim is as good as it ever has been. I've mostly been doing silent, off the grid, bodyguard jobs. I've kept up, and I still have some of my old Materia as well. I'm ready for the field."
Alessandro shot a look at Elena next.
"I can even track down your sister while I'm at it, but it may take awhile."
Now turning to Tseng, Alex pointed towards one of the file cabinets.
"What's the chances you forgot to terminate me from the system? Is my paperwork still in that active cabinet?"

One thing that Elena never understood about Rufus was his lingering touches towards her. She was sure it was because she was a women that he believed he could lean on her and even in some cases touch her face. She didn’t quite get his reasonings for doing so, he wouldn’t touch any of the other Turks in this way, in her mind it fell down to simply because she was a women and he thought his power could make her some how do anything he wanted, but that wasn’t true.
Of course Tseng didn’t give her a straight answer. The man never did. It was Alessandro who gave the answer when he offered to track her down. The blonde women shook her head; “If I was that important I’m sure by now Gun would of hunted me down herself. Excuse me.” The woman said as she dropped her shoulder so she was free from Rufus’s lean so she could excuse herself from the room. She couldn’t get out of there quick enough. Her mind was racing a mile a minute as she crossed from Tseng’s office and down to where the staff room was, using a new paper cup she filled it with water and stood looking out the window. If Gun was alive and every knew why was it kept a secret? Surely enough she had the right to know? Finishing off the small cup of water the women sighed inwardly, knowing she would have to go back and face the three men.
After half a second of coaching herself to move, she returned to Tseng’s office, shutting the door behind her once more and leaning against it, at least that way Rufus couldn’t use her as a leaning post.

Tseng could tell from the president's expression that it was a mistake stating the full truth. He believed in that instant that it would be forgiven. However, with his statement of what he required, it made it clear. The President wanted him to recall all the Turks back to active duty or worse. He wasn't quite sure what Rufus's intentions were. The man seemed far too angry and annoyed to be thinking as logically as he should. The amusement a facade to hide the fact he'd been lied to all these years about their true fate. The director knew things would certainly go south fast if they did not cooperate properly.
The Director listened intently and nodded a bit in response to his instruction. So, he was supposed to oversee the construction of rebuilding of mako reactors into geothermal ones. He did not have the sort of knowledge. He had no idea how that process would even work. But, he would do as he was assigned. Though, a large waste of his abilities. If it was for protection of the staff, a few SOLDIER would be perfectly acceptable means. If things became hairy after that, then the Turks would be sent in. But, again, this was not his decision. When Alessandro spoke up, Tseng sighed. "Alex...." He half warned, but to no avail. Two gun was going to prattle on and make things worse. He could be as bad as Reno sometimes.
His tone turned toward Two Gun as he said he was welcome back depending on how he was marked in the system. "He was labeled KIA." He stated to the two, answering the question. All Turks were killed in action as far as anyone knew. So, that's the way things had gone in the system as well. "I'm sure I can change that...." He did not like this situation. Not in the slightest.
However, Alex accepted the position and Tseng nodded. The former turk was such a fool. It was a blessing to have been able to get out of the company with your head intact. Now, he was stuck and would live and die for ShinRa. It wasn't a horrible fate. But, he'd been hopeful that he'd managed to give the former turks a real chance at a life outside the company. He informed Elena that he would track down her sister before the young woman dropped her shoulder and ducked out of the room. She had explained that it wasn't worth it. That if Gun wanted to see her, she'd of come to her. Elena left the room and the director was left with the two others. 'Great' He thought to himself. This was just great. He was going to have to locate turks that did not want to be found.
His eyes moved to Alessandro, at the next question. "We don't mark that sort of things in paper files as much anymore. It's mostly computer documentation. I can update the status in the system." This was not a good day. It wasn't long till Elena cooled down and returned to the room, his eyes on her. He would have to apologize for never information her. But, with her mouth sometimes... he didn't want to take the chance.

Fear. It was nothing like this. A room divided by the lies of the past as truth came to light. The executive’s crystal blue eyes peered over the cloth of his scarf, nose and mouth hidden behind its shielding warmth. He couldn’t convince himself to be angry, at least not at them. The biting cold still tugged at his patience, but he was almost -- delighted by the turn of events. Much like the perception that good held over evil or evil poised over good: in the end it became a grey, soupy substance that did little to bring dignity those forced to swallow it. A filthy truth is what it was. A trap for other to feel a false sense of security in a world they could not control, nor shape in their weakness. In the end what they faced was the lawless propaganda that was life. You live by the choices you make and the fate handed to you was predestined. Rufus never believed in such things. His father died a man who worshiped the prospect of being a king born to a dying world. Perhaps he was right to abandon this world. It killed him in the end. The weight of his sins brought all the lies he told to himself, the people, to the surface. But Rufus was sure that, even in the end, he believed them. Alessandro fell into same trap many others failed to notice when standing before a Shinra. Plans, plots, schemes spoken aloud gave room for contest. It allowed beliefs to be challenged and ideas to be stolen, remade, questioned. After all it mattered not who the plan belonged to in the end, but who had the fortitude to carry it out. And, in the case it Shira: the gil. Allowing his gaze to drift from Alessandro he processed the man's word. While, in a sense, the man was right: it would be difficult for people to trust the Shinra name, let alone the old technology, this was far from his father's decrepit kingdom. “ ...from ashes the phoenix rises again.” he muttered behind the knotted curtain of wool. Sapphire eyes draw up to the former Truk. “ We aren't my father's company any more. In the time you've been gone Shinra has done to rebuild itself from the dust. Edge's prosperity was no stroke of luck. It is Shinra's shining beacon of hope with Shinra at the center of its economy. We're rebuilding a future, not resurrecting the past.” It was an important difference people has begun to notice. After Meteorfall the rise and fall Shinra had done to change the world. For the better has yet to be seen… Dark Nation kept those beady eyes on the living-dead man, the blood-red tentacle swaying along the length of its spine. Its jaws parted, letting that red tongue dip out to brush over its lips. With Elena having slipped from his grasp Rufus crouched down and put his gloved hands under the beast’s chin, scratching beneath those angular jowls and sunken cheeks. The balded tail wagged at the attention as its focus finally broke from Alessandro. Rufus chuckled at the burned Turk’s offer to his underclassmen. There was always the possibility Guns did not want to be found and Elena was well aware that if she did want to return she very well could. But why would she? After Vled’s attempted coup d’etat many of the former members of his unit had gone MIA. Alive or dead now was a matter of luck. After Midgar’s destruction many had lost their lives to the collapsing plates or waves of Lifestream that inundated the body with toxic amounts of the lifegiving source of energy. It was wholly ironic to heed to such a fate. The Lifestream: once a source of warmth, advancement and prosperity was now the soul reaper taking back what injustices had long since robbed it of: life. The woman had slipped out, likely needing a moment to collect herself. Such news was always shocking, even if she seemed to act like it did not matter either way. She felt something. Bittersweet it most likely tasted of. Rufus knew it well. “ Don't misunderstand me,” He turned his sharp gaze to Alessandro once more before he pushed to his feet. “ It isn't as if there's a choice. You're Turks. Do you think I intend to have you go up there and built the machines yourself?” As if they were qualified. “ Or should I call you by your proper name? Administrative Research.” He stated. Elena returned. She seems to have calmed. He gave a measured pause before continuing. “ I need you to inspect these areas that still have standing reactors. Their people, economy and the overall state of their cities and towns, but to do that you need to find as many Turks as you can.” Looking to Alessandro as it he perhaps had an idea where the others may be. “ Investigate and I will have a team preparing the new reactors, far safer for Planet so the only interference we would need to worry about….” Did he have to say it? Was it not obvious what would happen if people found out Shinra was trying to... diligently correct their mistakes? Sabotage. “ Now you've a choice to make,” He said to Alessandro. “ Your stepping into the light has opened the door of opportunity.” ▲

Elena was hurt by her sister's disappearance, that much was obvious. She'd spent years of her life thinking her sister was dead, and now the revelation from Alessandro and Tseng that the entire class of Turks was all still well and healthy was unwelcome. On one hand, Alessandro believed she should have some sigh of relief at the aspect, but, on the other hand, he can see how she felt betrayed. His eyes followed her as she ducked out of the office, and Rufus's close proximity.
His mind focused back on the still tense situation at hand. He had been labeled KIA, but it was something Tseng that could be easily fixed, which was good. He would be back in active duty in no time, to which at least he thought it was a good idea. He realized that being a Turk wasn't necessarily anything you could simply resign from, but a life with Shin-Ra was at least a life he could live without always looking over his back. Things were better this way...he hoped.
"Yeah, I got it. Scout out these reactors and make sure things are safe to continue, and pick up a few dead people while I'm at it. Got it, boss."
Elena quickly ducked back in, to which Alessandro's eyes followed her whilst taking another long puff from his dwindling cancer stick. She seemed as if she was putting a game face on. He'd seen it from plenty of people over the years, people trying to look calm while either dealing with loss or looking death looking them in the eye. It was an unfortunate side effect from his line of work. She'd be alright, but she'd need some time to her self once this was all over.
"Right, well if I have a choice, you can count me as all in. And I can help seek out some new recruits while I'm out and about."
His mind went to the hot little number he'd met on Costa del Sol before coming here. Rina seemed to be in this line of work, but something told him not to bring her name up yet. A job with Shin-Ra was permanent, and he'd wait to say anything else about her unless he had her permission to do so.

Elena stood leaning against the door behind her. She wasn’t even sure what to do or say. The blonde had already suspected a grilling from Tseng for leaving the room, showing emotions, as a Turk she shouldn’t of shown them; but either way she was still human at the end of the day, being a Turk gave her a guard up but she couldn’t always have that, she wasn’t heartless like Tseng could be.
The women just watched Alessandro as he spoke, all the blonde could think about was her sister being alive, no one had told her. The time she had spent greaving for the women she had lost, not just her sister but for a long time she was her only friend like most sisters were to one another.
Elena had missed the first part of the conversation, it sounded like he had been given some sort of mission by the way he was talking about seeking out new recruits, would he pick up the others too? Did he really know where they were? She didn’t know, but she just watched the three men, they seemed to have a conversation going so she didn’t chime in she just watched, she wanted answers, once this was over she would talk to Tseng if he let her.

Tseng stood there and listened to the president as he explained the situation as it was. The man was obviously displeased at it being kept from him for as long as it had been. However, at least there didn't seem to be any lasting punishments. The punishment was going to be rounding up the former turks and being more hands on with the reactors. Though, the reactors would have probably been their job anyway. SOLDIER would not be able to handle the issue half as well as the Turks would. They were always rather superior in that regard. His eyes left the president to linger on Elena when she re-entered the room. He knew she was upsetted by this news. It was rather depressing if you thought about it. Your sister just disappearing off the face of the earth and claimed dead. Even if they didn't get along, it still would sting.
He just did not know how to help her or explain himself. If anything else, he should have told her. He had let Reno and Rude in on it so the wool wasn't over their eyes. Elena, he had kept that from her intentionally. He didn't want her to let it slip to the president. But, instead, Alex had done that. Now they needed to deal with the fall out. At least her hands were clean when it came to knowing. Rufus would not fault her and she would be the only one coming out clean.
"...I'll handle the paperwork, set up the reactor schedules, and see who I can locate myself before we have to start blindly searching." He explained as he watched the president before looking back at Elena. She had been in a rather good mood this morning. Now, the day had most likely been ruined. He'd have to catch her after the president left the room to make sure she was alright. That was his biggest concern at the moment.

It was work like this that required individuals like the Turks. They were selected because they had no family ties and with Shinra providing then everything from their shelter to their training it was the company they would naturally be indebted to and show loyalty towards. Though, in the end, they had ended up betraying Shinra Senior they had only done so for the sake of the company. That man was leading it towards destruction. In that regard they were useful to Rufus because they carried the ideals necessary for survival.
Because you could not carry a legacy if you were wiped from the annals of history…
While he could not feel pity for Elena’s position: his own brother considered a bastard by society and Rufus having no emotional bonds to the man, he did understand her loyalty and love for her. For all his life Rufus had sought his father's approval, to succeed him and become an even greater leader. While he will never love his father as a child should his parent he was loyal to the foundation the Electric Company was built upon. This would be legacy, the Turks. They had something to fight for.
“You can do this, right Elena?” The president would question. “You can always take off to solve your personal problems.” Work and family just did not mix. He looked to Tseng who had everything under control. He rest his hand on his hip, Dark Nation moving to seat themselves beside the blonde Turk. The Guard Hound looked up to Elena and wagged it's stubby, bladed tail as its jaws parted to pant out. Rufus nodded to Tseng after he offered to do office time. Better him than Reno. He put his hand to his chin a moment in thought. With business attended to he turned to leave Tseng's office. Now what hat he come by for originally. “Oh, by the way.” he came to a full stop at the exit, his fingertips on the door handle. “I cleared some of the old servers. Corrupted data was rampant. If you could backup the DEEPGROUND servers and clear them to be rebooted for the new system data I'm writing?” But to access the DEEPGROUND servers needed clearance that only two people had: the head of the Weapons Development Department and Science Department. With one defunct and currently headed by no one that left only one other with clearance beside Rufus himself. While not saying it outright Rufus wanted Tseng to remove Scarlet’s access to the systems so a full restore could occur with no administrators other than Rufus and Tseng.

Things were going brilliantly for the relaxed Turk, and, yeah, he could use the title Turk again. He'd been put back into the system, and already been given an assignment. It would be a great way for him to ease his way back into the line of duty. Still though, part of him was a little resigned to the fact that he was roped back in permanently, but this was where he needed to be.
Alessandro turned to leave, following the President, but stopped for a brief moment when Rufus did, and kind of turned slightly so that Shinra could have a clear view of Tseng. He heard something about Deepground, but it went over Two Guns' head. He hadn't heard the term before so it was likely one of those classified things that was way above his pay grade. Alex let it quickly go in one ear and out the other, and stepped around Rufus to exit the office.
"Right, well I'll be off then. Oh! Tseng, I think I have a good recruit for us. I'll give her a call. Its this hot little number I met in Costa del Sol. She's in our line of work, and, trust me, I can vouch for her athleticism."
With that, Alex turned and gave Tseng a very blatant wink before strolling down the hall. He had that hot little number, Rina, to return to, and he needed to celebrate. Maybe he'd take her out for sushi. Something about the raw fishy food worked like an aphrodisiac to some women, so this was a great idea!

Elena could feel Tseng's eyes on her. What was she supposed to say to him now? He'd known about the cover up, he'd been the one who orchestrated the whole ordeal. Why hadn't he ever told her or let her know the truth? If it concerned her sister's safety, she wouldn't have let that slip to anyone. But maybe Tseng didn't trust her as much as he let on. But, she was pulled back when Rufus addressed her directly. She blinked a bit over at Rufus, not realizing that she'd been staring at Tseng this whole time.
She could do what? What had she missed while she was day dreaming? Oh, this wasn't good. She couldn't admit to the President she wasn't listening. She'd likely need to ask Tseng what it was she was volunteering for now. "N-no, sir. I can handle it. I don't need to head off, sir." She assured the President.
Dark Nation moved to sit by her side after she addressed the president. It made Elena smile faintly as she patted the hound's head softly, making sure to be subtle with the movement. She was in a professional capacity at the moment. But, she couldn't deny Nation a pat on the head. She was a very good dog, after all. She listened as Rufus gave Tseng another bit a work in addition to clarifying a lot of past files. She made the presumption that Tseng would give her the next assignment and nodded to the President as she shifted to slip out of the room to make sure Two Guns got out of the building safely before returning to her office.

Tseng was in a rather tight position. Honestly, he was just glad that Rufus didn't react as negatively as the Director expected. This could have gone far worse than it had. But, now he had extra work on his desk. He had to reach out and see if he could find the other turks and somehow convince them to come back. Not all would be interested. Honestly, he could maybe see Rod and Two Guns. But, anyone else would be quite reluctant after having to fake their own death not to be executed by the company they had dedicated their life to.
His eyes watched Elena and Rufus as they two conversed a bit. Elena stating that she could handle it and didn't need the personal time. Honestly, Elena probably could use it. She tended to get a bit emotional at times. This would be a time she would be justified in her feelings. Tseng hadn't told her, even while being her partner. He just didn't want to risk either of their safety by revealing the information. It was unlikely that Elena would forgive him for such a secret. But, it didn't matter now. It was done.
Rufus moved to exit the room before pausing to turn back to speak directly to Tseng. It was obvious this was the whole reason for the excursion down to Tseng's office in the first place. He listened and nodded once in reply. "I'll have it handled..." He nodded in agreement. Great, more work. It was no wonder he could never catch up. There was always more being added to his pile at a much faster rate than he could clear.
The Director moved around to his desk to start typing on the computer. He had a lot to manage in a short amount of time. Starting with getting Alessandro clearance and fast. He didn't want the armed guard downstairs to end up shooting him as he waltzed his way out. [Exit Thread]

It was funny how, when naught was to be found in the free world a dog would return to his master. While the chain had been short and its food served from a rusted tin, in a pathetically small bowl where his ancestors consumed flesh from the belly of a freshly hunted beast: it would all seem but a dream to return to one's roots. But the Turks were always domesticated, from the day they were old enough to walk. Orphans, vagabonds. They were all children of the state, given to Shinra to be bred into the perfect operative. They depended on the company just as the company depended on them. It was their instinct to guard their hearth, therefore when it was in jeopardy, be it from itself or an outside source: they would return. The world outside was cold, cruel and uncaring to a mongrel beast. There was no home from a neutered dog who knew how only to bite the hands of strangers.
Alessandro did not think twice about accepting his life back, but he was clearly afraid of coming back. For most returning to the place you abandoned meant death. A bullet to the back of the head. For Rufus it did more to welcome his hounds back with open arms so they could understand...
No one else would have you.
None other can feed you.
He stood watching them, arms still crossed over his chest to fend off the bitter cold, which only did to make the executive ornery, reluctant to negotiations. His mouth was still tucked into the woolen folds of the dark scarf. Sharp, blue eyes drifted from face to face as they spoke, never wandering beyond. That needling gaze pricked at the skin, blonde bangs draped lightly over his features, brushing his skin like silk against the naked flesh. if not for the plume of chilled air that escaped the scarf each breathe a man would be hard pressed to tell if Rufus was even conscious. He stood stock still, resisting the shivers that churned against his belly. When Elena confirmed her ability to work, he did not hang onto any doubts one would have with someone as green as she.
It was not as if he felt her useless. Were that the case he would have put the bullet into her himself long ago. No. Elena showed promise. She was competent, intelligent and suffered the every bit of training Tseng or Rude had. Though small and pale, her frail exterior hid fangs. Dark Nation boofed deeply at the woman's confession of strength. It was hard to tell if the hound understood her or not, but it seemed to defend her convictions, as shaky as they sounded. The pat on the head seemed to help. Rufus stared at the black-furred beast, eyes narrowed.
"Very well." he passed, since the beast would have its way. "See that my decision not to have you file the missing reports of the incidents with AVALANCHE Pre-Fall are not misplaced." he threatened.
Despite knowing her capabilities... it would do her no favor to coddle her. She was a Turk. Someone he depended on. His gaze would shift to Tseng as the two took their leave. Dark Nation moved to follow Rufus along, but stopped as they saw Rufus. The beast's head canted to the side with a curious growl, the bladed tail stub wagging at its ward's - hesitation. The President watched as Alessandro and Elena made their way along. He waited until they were out of earshot.
"You don't disturb the dead, Tseng." He did not move to turn to face the man. Instead his head turned slightly. The glare of blue at the edge of white indicated the blonde was looking at Tseng. "But sometimes they are just sleeping. Make sure to check for a pulse before trying to uselessly resurrect them." Though a fitting analogy, it was just that. All the Turks may not heed the call, fearful of the former regime. But this was not his father's company anymore. If he learned anything from Reeve, it was that people were stupid. Ghost stories of secret agents of Shinra, evacuating the city during the Fall did to reach his ears while he was one among the refuges in Kalm. If they wished to return to hiding after it all, he could understand. If he could, he would have died than too. But he had other things to do in this life, things he could not let pass by. He would not cling like his father, who had believed himself immortal. Rufus had seen death and been kissed by it, embraced. He was familiar with what the end looked like and would see to it that were he to face the Lifestream as such: he would be accountable for his actions. With that Rufus turned to leave, Dark Nation following close beside.[Rufus E X I T] ▲
