It would be a lie if Rina had said she hadn't thought about the way she would die. She thought about it more often than she should. She personally thought she was extremely lucky and had overstayed her welcome in this life. Throughout her life there had been so many close calls and it amazed her she had somehow made it through each one.
This time she wasn't so sure. And this time was a scenario she had never been through so she wasn't so sure of her odds either.
Rina took a labored breath and continued walking down the street she was on. Every now and then a rough cobble would snag her foot and she would barely catch herself before falling to the pavement. If she fell now she may not get back up. She also thought if she stopped walking she might fall down as well, so she just kept going. She'd only been to this world once or twice and never for very long so she was wandering aimlessly. Her body was wrought with pain from the banging in her head, to the throbbing in her side where not so long ago a bullet had been lodged, all the way down to her feet which screamed for her to stop. Her chest hurt the worst though. Each breath she took was a chore and pure agony and her heart felt like it was about to explode one second and then about to be crushed the next.
Without knowing exactly how she got there Rina ambled through a small forest and she could see the path continuing through to the other side. She was oblivious to the fact that handfuls of Heartless surrounded her, but they were just standing there. Watching her struggle. Waiting. Almost to the end of the treeline her feet finally gave out and she went sprawling into the dirt. She laid there motionless for a moment and a surge went through the Heartless almost like they were moving in on her but then stopped. With a groan Rina made her way to her hands and knees and continued to crawl towards the light.
Rina blinked as she breached into sunlight her eyes adjusting to the brick lined gate that opened to a large mansion that was painted with colors of sundown. And that was it. Her arms went limp and Rina fell into the grass, but it was okay. She was warm and she was happy and she was ready to go. Rina was ready to rest. Her eyes closed and the slight smile she had slipped from her face.
Shimmering light seemed to surround Rina for a just a moment before a sea of Darkness opened up beneath her and surrounded her figure.
