There's a wall that's towering over me
if i try to climb it will i succeed?
When she dug her claws in, he flinched, it still hurt. He figured that with her stumbling, she just needed to drain a little more, and was about to ask her politely to show some restraint and take some slowly when she snapped at him about choices before shoving him away, well, as best as she could anyway. He didn't really move all that much. Damn, she was drained. In truth, it probably should have scared him. And had she had her power, it probably would have, but like this she just seemed so pathetic that it was hard to believe she could even be a real threat. So much so that the look he gave her at the veiled threat to break his arm just got her a deadpan stare. "You can't be thinking of just power." He added with another shrug, pulling his arm away. "Right now, optimization, spending less energy, is key. That the previous staff never even considered that makes you an actual miracle." Somehow, he had a feeling she wouldn't mind if he took shots at the previous scientists.
Now he knew he could do a better job. The bar wasn't exactly high.
Now that he thought about it, she never even thanked him for saving her life. Maybe he should install a common courtesy protocol or something. There were some things he wasn't crazy about hearing with those other scientists but come on, it almost seemed like they half-assed a lot of this. Why make a true AI and then leave out so many basics. But that headache. In truth, he figured it was just a ack of energy more than anything. "I got some painkillers in the kitchen, cupboard in the corner, second shelf." Would they even work? He doubted it, but you never knew, maybe it was a case of mind over matter or something.
He looked at what he'd prepared, casually moving over to finish packing everything. He might want to take this stuff to his room with him. Hauling it all onto his shoulder, he gave her one last good look. He didn't fear her, well, right now anyway, when she could barely stand. He might have to carry her to the Hollow Bastion though. "I'm going to get some sleep, need to get some energy back." After he, you know, let her drain him, so she wouldn't die. That's gratitude for you. "Goodnight, Altima. I hope you feel better. Wake me up if you need anything." Somehow he could already expect a scathing remark on that, but let it never be said he wasn't reaching his hand out.
And with that, he left the shop. Goddamn he was tired. He just hoped she didn't break everything while he was out.
