The Android officially stepped out of the lab and into the outside world of Radiant Garden for the very first time, and on her 'birthday', no less! As she took in the sights, a notification popped up on her heads-up display, which was soon accepted and opened into a video. Gemini was on the other end, seated at her desk and facing the camera. "I'm sure you remember, but just in case. I want you to explore the town, meet people, and if anything happens... You're a Rescue Operative! You can get anyone in danger to safety."
The woman in the labcoat would state. "Aside from that, you've got free reign on this world. Just maintain a connection back here and give me a report if anything notable happens, or if you have any troubles with any of your functions.", Gemini would then finish the little briefing, and it prompts Zeni to nod.
"Can do!", she would reply with a salute and a smile. With that, the video feed cuts off, and Zeni is left to her own devices. Naturally, the Android would begin to wander around the town -- And just because Gemini wasn't interested in testing out her combat abilities yet, she was already given the parameters necessary to not wander outside of town, and in turn, outside of the security system.
Needless to say, Zeni stood out even in a crowd. The Identity Disc was the key part in her becoming alive, but it also gave her a few unique features, such as the glowing lines to her clothes... To anyone that knew of the two worlds, it looked like she was a mashed up combination of Radiant Garden and The Grid in one entity. Of course, not many would be aware of such a thing.
Still... Most people didn't seem to be too frightened by her. Maybe it helped that she would always greet the passer-bys with a smile and a wave. The fancy for a conversation hadn't struck Zeni until she saw one person in particular...

... That one person in particular was currently standing at a market stall, arguing with the moogle shop keeper over prices. The haggling seemed to be over some gear and a few bolts, to say she was desperate would be...Quite the understatement. She needed these for the device that brought her here to begin with, but the problem at hand was..."... But I've never HEARD of 'munny' before! Listen, I know this is a different world and all, but how about Spiran money? It's still good, hell if you wanna set up shop there, BOOM you've already got a financial start! Honest! Do I look like the kind of person who'd rip someone off?"She gives the shop keep a nervous, rather unconvincing smile. Hey, if you were in desperate need of something to get home, you'd be nervous too! She huffed and placed the items back on the counter, turning her back and walking away from the shop."Okay but...I'll be back eventually! Sheesh, shrewd business..."She sat down on the steps in front of a house, looking rather troubled at her predicament. She pulled the device out from her pocket, looking at it..."Fryd ys E kuhhy tu huf? Fedruid druca byndc E lyh'd syga drec drehk nih..."She couldn't be sure what exactly it was, but something made her look up in that moment away from the device, and there she saw that strange girl...Glowing clothes, an expression like she's lost...Maybe she was an accidental traveler just like the mechanic? Ayami had already met several like that, though most of them seemed to have their bearings to some degree. Seems like she wasn't the only one that was completely lost at least.------ Current Outfit: Al Bhed Casual Zeni

A young woman that seemed to be in a bit of a financial pickle! That was an effective way to describe Ayami in the scene that she was currently taking part in with the shopkeep. Zeni couldn't help but watch as the entire exchange unfolded before her very eyes. There was quite a lot of information to be gleaned from this little bit right here, such as "Spiran money", and claiming that this was a different world -- So that would make this person some sort of visitor to Radiant Garden? And from quite a long ways, too! Still, it wasn't all a happy occurrence, the Android could tell this much just from how downtrodden Ayami was from the inability to purchase the items in question.
Zeni would begin her approach, now noting that the person was speaking in a language that she had no knowledge of, and was holding a piece of technology that seemed quite unlike anything in Radiant Garden... It seemed as though Ayami finally took notice of the Android, however. Which prompted Zeni to smile widely and wave. " Hello! Is everything alright?" , she would greet in a chipper tone of voice, and then adjust her tone accordingly to express concern for her question directly after.
This was exactly what she came into town for! To meet people, and help them! Ayami seemed like the perfect fit for both of those goals. So it would only do to make a friend, and then help that friend! " I'm Zeni! I help people!" , she would then introduce herself, describing her purpose in an innocent, matter-of-fact way. It would certainly do away with some of the concerns that might come with a more shady individual saying such a thing.
Now that all of that was out of the way, Zeni would wait eagerly for the response of this intriguing individual!------ Ayami

All at once the gloom was broken by the piping up of a chipper voice, before Ayami really had time to realize it, this strange girl had approached her and began speaking! This girl was something, for sure. She smiled earnestly enough to challenge the mechanic's own at times. Her dress was a prim and proper uniform green and tan color, nothing too flashy, but what made it stand out beyond these basic colors were the other elements, it was lined with accents of bronze, and featured many glowing lines across it. Her hair was a bright sunny orange, and she wore a crooked bow on the back of her head. Ayami couldn't help but smile a bit, it was almost contagious with how bright and sunny this girl was, still her response betrayed that smile of hers, and revealed a bit of context behind her predicament currently faced against her."Hi...Not exactly. I'm...A long way from home, and I can't get the parts to fix my only 'ride' back, so to speak. Who knew other places would be so scary?"Still, the short girl seemed so bright and genuine, she certainly wasn't the first friendly person Ayami had encountered, but she was definitely the most...Cheerful one? Yes that was a good way of putting it. She introduced herself calmly, providing both her name and her...Apparent occupation. Though "Helping people" was a bit vague, Ayami certainly understood the gist of it, and responded with an introduction of her own."Hi Zeni, I'm Ayami. I...Suppose being so down in the mouth isn't really proper huh...?"She lowered her head in silence for a moment, seeming almost forlorn...All until she suddenly spoke up."...I guess I'll just have to fix that! Nyeeee!"She raised her head suddenly, giving Zeni a goofy, bright grin.It was hard to stay upset with someone trying so hard to help, even if it was just sympathy. And in a way, Zeni reminded the mechanic of herself...Innocent, optimistic, always ready to do their best. It reminded her that being down like this and giving up just wasn't her normal self. No, not at all. She couldn't just stop now! She decided to provide further info. Maybe this girl could at least point her in the right direction for parts. AFFORDABLE parts. She took out the device she showed to the shopkeeper, showing it to Zeni as well."I'm a mechanic. You see this machine here kinda sent me really far away from home, so I was trying to find a way to make it work again, so maybe I could get back. But...There aren't really spare parts lying around."She looked away for a moment, mumbling an addendum in a sort of outer self-thought."plus i doubt the machine faction has a shop here in Radiant Garden..."She scratched the back of her head, returning her gaze to Zeni once more. She probably seemed rather strange to Zeni, and that was putting it lightly...------ Zeni

Zeni would listen intently to everything that Ayami had to say -- The poor girl certainly seemed pretty down in the dumps, and considering the situation... It was pretty easy to understand why, being away from home and having no way of going back is a pretty rough spot to be in. Still, it could be worse. She seemed pretty healthy right now, and that meant there was a chance to turn the entire thing around! " Well, if what you need is munny, then there's plenty of things that can be done to resolve that problem! We should be able to find you a place to stay as well." , the Android offered some encouraging words. Right now the big thing was getting her out of this slump she was in.
Sadly, it seemed like Zeni wasn't have much of a positive effect despite her best efforts... Ayami lowered her head, seeming quite forlorn about the entire ordeal. Just as the Android was about to redouble her efforts in comforting the distraught girl... Ayami would suddenly raise her head with a big, goofy smile on her face! That prompted Zeni to laugh in response. Just like that, all of the thick tension in the air had been cut away. " Oh! You certainly look like you're having more fun now!" , Zeni would then state, then letting Ayami speak her next words.
So, she was a Mechanic? Furthermore, Ayami would show the piece of technology from earlier to Zeni. The Android would bend down slightly, getting a closer look at the object. Zeni's eyes seemed rather intensely focused, and... There was a glow to them? Which eventually settled down back to their normal vibrant color as she would straighten herself out, returning her attention to Ayami. " Whatever it is, it's pretty advanced! I can actually say that there's probably not a whole lot like it here at Radiant Garden. At least not anything that's publicly recorded..." , Zeni would then admit.
She would ponder it over for a moment. " But maybe Gemini could help! She's really good with machines!" , Zeni would then extend an offer to Ayami. Of course, not realizing that she hadn't exactly explained who Gemini was...------ Ayami

"Well, I have no clue what in the high heavens a "Munny" is, but if it'll help get me home, I'll take all of them!!"...Yep, definitely clueless. She scratched her chin at the mention of "finding a place for her to stay" though. Seemed she wasn't entirely sold on the idea, for reasons which she came right out with:"But I uh...Don't really know this place, much at all. I've met a lot of people but they all seemed to be traveling. So I don't actually KNOW anyone who lives here. Well...Except for you, right? You do live here correct?"Ayami didn't exactly have an easy choice here. She thought getting home would be a quick process, something that took only a day...Well, she shook her head, trying to keep her cool and continuing to smile. What amazed her more however, was that Zeni had never seen anything like the device that took her here to Radiant Garden. Or...Hadn't seen anything she can talk about??? That answer was a bit vague, but...The mechanic rolled with it in any case."Really? There's a lot of stuff like this where I'm from! Well...Not EXACTLY like this. There's probably two of them. ... Probably."Her memories flashed back to before she had been sent here, her father's sudden appearance before her on that night. The fact that he seemed aware of places beyond Spira...Maybe he had one too? It was all just too confusing. For a split second as she recalled those things, her expression probably looked troubled. But she broke the silence with a question."Ah, so is Gemini your friend I'm guessing? If they can help me out, I'd like to speak to them. But first, I've gotta ask...Have you seen a man about...This high, with blonde hair? Wears clothes kinda similar to mine?"Her description was a bit lacking without any imagery, but as it stood, she didn't HAVE anything beyond memories. What she remembered was a potent thing, but nobody else shared that memory exactly...Still, she had to ask, she had to know for sure.------ Zeni

Zeni tilts her head briefly at Ayami's confusion over what 'munny' is, but resolves to explain it. " Munny is universal currency! See, there are multiple worlds. And the ability to travel between them is pretty rare... But it still exists. What also exists is the strange little bits just like this." , the Android would then pull out one 'munny' and show it to Ayami. " No idea why they decided to use this type in particular, but the important thing is that it's good most everywhere! Especially here, in Radiant Garden." With that, Zeni would put the mysterious currency back into her pouch, then smiling at Ayami as if she were proud of her explanation. With that out of the way, Ayami would then ask if the Android lived here, which prompted a nod out of Zeni. " That's right! I do live here! More specifically, I stay over at Gemini's place!" , she then answers. It wasn't too much longer before their conversation then turned back to that strange machine that Ayami wanted to find out about. From the way Ayami was speaking, it was all but certain that she was a visitor from another world now.
Not quite an alien, but someone not native to Radiant Garden, that much was true. " Well, the technology is pretty different here. We might have similar things, but... They're built differently, you know? That's what I mean when I say that I don't recognize it. It's pretty peculiar. But if anyone can find out more about it, it would be Gemini!" Shortly after that exchange, Ayami was tempted to ask if she was friends with Gemini... Hmm, that was a pretty good way to put it! So the Android nods in response. She was going to answer vocally, but then the visitor sends another query her way. This time about a missing person! Although the description was slightly vague... " Hmmm... Well I only know of one person fitting that that description, but I haven't met them, and they haven't been seen in Radiant Garden for awhile. I think their name is Cloud, though." Zeni would then give her honest answer. She was familiar with the members of the Restoration Committee, and Cloud was one of it's members. Though no one had reported any sightings with him in a little while. In the end, all people could do was hope that he was alright.------ Ayami

Ayami's eyes seemed to practically have a sparkle to them as she stared at the munny in amazement, as if it was the second greatest thing she'd ever bore witness to. She gasped in awe, nodding and clutching her chin."SO! This is a "munny"! I am learning ECONOMICS?! Oh but, wait-""Multiple worlds"? It took a second to register, but once it hit, it definitely hit hard."You...You mean there's more than just my home and this place?! Wowwww...Aww I wanna see them all!! But- I uh...Dunno how to GET to them. Now working theory is this little doohicky I have will help with that. ... Or it could backfire horribly and irreversibly damage this entire world. But you know, 50/50."...She didn't seem entirely concerned with the theorized risks, and continued on thinking it over deeply. She shook her head, smiling."Sorry I get a bit lost in this kind of stuff sometimes, so, you're a native huh?! You must know your way around then! I've kinda just been...Sleeping in this square the whole time. I don't exactly wanna get lost, and apparently there's a bunch of bad guys outside. Oh but...I really gotta meet this Gemini if they're as good with machines as you say! I've spent most of my life tinkering with these buggers!"It would definitely be a comforting change of pace to meet someone she related to in that degree. She just found it easier to relax around them. That's not to say she didn't like making friends, far from it: It was ALWAYS great. Just that it made it a tinge easier to bond with them if they knew what she was blabbering on about at times. But the mechanic gave a nod, understanding what Zeni was saying."Right, different tech...Looking around, yours seems to be more recent. Everything I've known has always been centuries older than me. The things I've seen around seem to be..."She pulled down the goggles that rested on her head, focusing on the towering castle that sat at the top of the city. More specifically, she focused on the bare bits of gears and the like that hung free from past damage."...Probably a century or two at most? I can't pin an exact date, but certainly newer. I'm guessing your world didn't have quite as much of a ...Stigma."She raised the goggles back into their proper place, not bothering to elaborate on what she meant, perhaps not wanting to speak of more grim matters. As the conversation moved along to the missing person detail, Zeni did seem to know something, to which the perky girl raised up in excitement over. ... Only to soon lower her head in defeat when this person was named "Cloud", rather than what she was hoping for. It wasn't that she wasn't concerned for him, but instead that she was hoping for a lead on her missing father. She nodded silently."I suppose we should meet this friend of yours. I'm in need of some serious help."------ Zeni

Ayami seemed to be able to roll with the punches pretty well. Absorbing the idea behind a universal currency called 'Munny' and the fact that there was multiple worlds. Given the way her eyes lighted up at the prospect, you could tell she was not adverse to adventuring. Zeni would smile in response, giving a small nod. " Yep! There's a lot more than just these two worlds! There's a few ways to travel between them too, though only one method is probably the easiest to make use of." , the Android would then reply to Ayami's query.
It didn't take the Engineer too long to theorize the object being able to allow for travel between worlds... Or else go haywire and damage it. With 50/50 odds! " Wow, like flipping a coin! We should probably hope it just lets you travel, huh? I still want to see your world." , Zeni would comment. Neither of them seemed to be too absorbed on the consequences though, as their conversation continues right on to other things. Such as the Android being a native of this world, and what Ayami has been up to ever since arriving here in Radiant Garden." Wow. That sounds pretty rough. You must have spent a long time sleeping outside? Because you don't exactly look worse for wear!" , the Android mused aloud. " Well, don't worry! Most of the town is safe because of the security system. Some of the Heartless try to get in despite it, but between the system and the Restoration Committee, people are pretty well protected here. Just don't wander too far outside of town, because you'll be on your own then." , she would then explain to Ayami.
In slight relation to the talk of technology, Ayami pointed out that there was a difference in the age. It was all newer on Radiant Garden -- Probably due to lack of a stigma. Though the Engineer didn't elaborate very far into what she meant by that, Zeni could somewhat grasp the idea of there being people against technology in Ayami's world. So that meant that this object wasn't just complex in design... It was like an ancient relic to boot!" Oooh! So that means the object you're holding is like... Some sort of artifact to an ancient civilization? So you're like an Archaeologist! That's pretty cool!" , Zeni found the closest thing that she could relate all of this to within her information banks. Probably not quite accurate to the truth, but it would at least be pretty on the money compared to most other guesses people would make.
However, it was time to set all of that aside. Because Ayami did need help, and Gemini could probably give it... Which means Zeni was in the perfect position to make sure that help could be received! Zeni would smile confidently, and give a salute. " Right-o! Just leave it to me! I'll take you right over to Gemini and then we can get to the bottom of this entire thing together!" (Music)With that declaration stated, she'd turned and begin to walk with an eager posture back to Gemini's Lab! Of course, now she was making sure that Ayami would keep up. Provided there were no interruptions along the way, they'd come to a little raised area in the town. Gave a nice overlook of the place... Though there wasn't much here, except for that door. As the Android approached it, it would slide open with a hiss, and reveal an almost pristine environment inside. If the rest of Hollow Bastion looked like fairly recent technology, then Gemini's Lab probably seemed almost futuristic -- Though given the type of work she was doing... It made perfect sense." Here we are! Gemini's Lab! Or at least one of the hallways! We'll find her inside, and I think she'll be pretty excited to meet another person that works on technology, especially from another world!" , Zeni comments. Before too long, she's leading the way again, as long as Ayami was still willing to follow, of course!
The hallways certainly gave off a different vibe from the rest of the town. Lots of white white steel, from the floors to the ceiling. Though the ceiling also held lights to keep it from being too dark inside. Everything seemed pretty perfectly lit up. Then there was all the terminals that one could see on one wall. There didn't seem to be any console to make use of them, but they were all sectioned off with glass dividers, each holding it's own bit of information.
Zeni didn't seem to be taken aback about what was inside of this Lab at all, even though most everyone would be pretty surprised to see what was inside. To the Android, this 'home'. This was where she woke up, and where she was cared for. So to her, the outside world was the exciting part! Eventually, they'd reach another door that would slide open with a hiss as Zeni approaches, and inside there would be a room filled with various bits of machinery, and a large desk with several terminal screens. Seated at that desk was a woman with dark red hair, and a labcoat.
She would calmly spin the chair around and face Zeni and Ayami." Hello. I wasn't expecting to receive a visitor already. Though if Zeni brought you here, then you're trustworthy -- And perhaps in need of some help?" , the woman theorizes before giving a proper introduction. " Oh, right... I'm Gemini. And you are?" , she would then ask, remembering her manners.------ Ayami

More worlds? Well it didn't take a genius to hypothesize the meaning behind that, to which she promptly responded with quite a deal of excitement!"So if there's more worlds out there, this..."outer" space must be potentially endless. Which means...Which means...! An infinite number of worlds exist out there!!! Oh but uh...I might need some more info on these travel methods. This machine kinda just...Pulled me here. But from the sounds of it, there HAS to be some kind of space between, like a...Barrier. Otherwise these worlds would be visible from one another. At least...I think I'm on the money there!"She gave an excited nod in response to Zeni's statement regarding that 50/50."Flipping a coin is a good way to put it actually! But no risk, no reward right? Getting it to transport me like it did before with that weird inky pool is definitely the idea though."Huh? Zeni wanted to see her world? Well...She was actually taken aback by that. No one so far had really shown interest in where she came from, they kind of kept to themselves. It made sense of course; it was natural for people to only be looking forward at all times, rather than off to the sides. Still...If seeing Spira was really what Zeni wanted...Ayami just smiled, nodding."It's a promise then! I'm taking you with me when I figure this blasted thing out!"She poked the thing, sticking her tongue out off to the side for a moment as she listened to Zeni speak some more, she gave another pert nod, speaking up about her experiences."Oh yeah, one time I uh...Slept in a field that was constantly being bombarded by lightning. Wasn't fun, I don't recommend it. But once you get used to something like THAT, sleeping in a peaceful courtyard is like staying in a five star inn. Though...Your town also looks like it's seen better days. I guess that's what your...uh "Restoration Committee" is for? Yeah I can dig it. I did some restoration of my own back home. Glad to know this town is safe in either case, I guess I can let my shoulders down a little!"The mechanic smiled brightly, seeing someone who sounded as interested in the things she was made her pretty happy. It was like Zeni really understood her. It was a major difference from people simply comprehending her, because for once, it was someone actually keeping up with what she was saying. She couldn't have really put to words what all that meant, because plenty of people knew about technology and all the details involved in it, but even her friends and family back home in Spira were never quite THAT into it. Many saw it as less of a passion and more of a job...Something they were simply born to do because no one else would....For Ayami though, she did these things and took up the mantle of a mechanic not because she HAD to...But because she WANTED to. For all the questions of "Why?" or "What brought you to this point?" the mechanic never could have possibly answered those...Because there was no logic in her passion, just joy. She responded to Zeni in kind, explaining a little further."Well...It's a little more complicated than that. Friends of mine dig the stuff up, I just getting it in working order, or otherwise clean it up. "Restoration" - which I'm sure you're familiar with, is more of what I do. But...I guess on a technicality I could be considered an Archaeologist!"She'd continue further after explaining what all she was involved in:"This device? Definitely, it's unique. Most of the stuff we find is over a thousand years old. Though this one...It could be even older. The patterns on it, they...Don't match the other stuff we're finding. It's like it was made by someone else entirely: Someone from a different civilization."Ayami returned the salute playfully, grinning in response to Zeni's enjoyable and infectious enthusiasm."Lead the way Miss, I'll follow you to the ends of the world!"Thankfully the interruptions scale sat at a whopping zero the entire time. Following Zeni gave the girl quite a tour of Radiant Garden. It was...Well, radiant. Though at the same time, it was sparse. It looked like remnants of flower beds scattered many of the locations they passed by, with only a few plots of flowers growing to replace them. She could only presume that whatever happened to this place, it was still only a shell of it's former self. Something of a surviving society. Once they reached the raised area, she had to stop for a moment and take in the sights. Despite the derelict nature of many areas, there was still an odd beauty to it. Maybe it was the fact that these people were living in the face of ruins. Maybe it was that in a way...It reflected her own home world: People living despite the odds.Though with her momentary distraction finally set aside, she followed Zeni to the...Sliding door??? She paused in surprise as it opened seemingly without assistance."What is this?! If this is machine, there aren't any pulleys...Or hinges! Is this some sort of mystic? Your friend must be talented..."She hesitated for a moment, certainly the machina of her world could be made to move a door, but...There was no visible machinery here. Nothing here looked as though it was being manipulated by mere machine. But if Zeni's mentions of this "Gemini" were correct...It could very well have been a form of tech. She steeled herself and entered through the door, following along through these long white corridors. Her concern soon turned to amazement as she saw the terminals, all displaying information that was almost alien to her. She'd stop occasionally to reach a hand out towards them, touching her finger tips to them..."...Glass..."Though this distraction too was only momentary. As they reached the final door, the room that waited inside confirmed her suspicions: It WAS machines doing this...If the vast array of them was anything to go by. Still, to her these machines were so...Foreign: She was used to the technology of HER world. But these...They were clean, made primarily of steel, they had glowing lines not unlike Zeni's clothing. She could only make guesses to what each were capable of, and even then, those guesses were limited by the machina of Spira. She stared at the woman behind the desk calmly. She almost got lost in it all, staring silently for a moment before shaking herself out of it."-Oh my name's Ayami, good to meetcha!!"Finally her grin returned and she extended her hand for a firm handshake."You're correct. She sent me here because I'm having a bit of machine trouble y'see..."Ayami calmly placed the strange device she had been carrying onto the desk in front of her, sliding it across.------ Zeni

Unsurprisingly, this was quite a lot for Ayami to take in. This was one of the more advanced places on Radiant Garden, though even it wasn't top of the line. Gemini didn't have the funding or the manpower for that. But it only made what she did pull off all the more impressive as a result. Speaking of which... Gemini would calmly extend her hand out and accept the handshake, a calm smile on her face. " I can see why you get along with Zeni now." , she comments. Though the woman didn't seem to have the same excitable energy as these two, she didn't fault them for it either. It was good to be happy in one's youth, after all.
Beyond those two getting along however... It seems that Ayami was here on business as well. A piece of damaged technology, which she would place on the desk and slide over to Gemini. The woman would calmly catch the object, lifting it up and inspecting it thoroughly. " Hmm... Definitely nothing I've seen before. I don't recognize it's make at all." , she would comment her observations thus far. " Your thoughts, Zeni?" , she then queries of her Android.
Just as before, Zeni would give an enthusiastic salute, only this time she'd deliver a report. " I scanned everything that I could, and it doesn't match any of the technology on our world at all! From what Ayami has told me, this is pretty old too." , the Android finishes, and then returns back to a normal standing posture, smiling as if pleased with herself.
Gemini would calmly nod, placing it back on the desk. " Right... It looks like it's sustained some damage, as well as wear and tear from the elements. But it could be in far worse condition. Now, Ayami. Perhaps you can tell me what this does? Or your closest guess, in any case." , Gemini would then request of her visitor." Anything detailed that you can give me will be helpful. If I don't even know it's general purpose, then trying to fix it up will be harder." , she'd then admit. Of course it's not like "harder" was "impossible" either. It could still be done, but it would take longer, and likely take more than a bit of testing along the way.
Though there was an even bigger issue. Whether or not this thing was compatible with anything they had in Radiant Garden... They might need to improvise. Hopefully it wouldn't be too complicated, but hey. Gemini didn't back down from a challenge either. Zeni was supposedly an 'impossibility', but that was a project that she succeeded on. Even if she needed to venture into an entirely different world to pull it off.
Hopefully this one won't require that lengths... But Ayami seemed like the nice enough sort. And no doubt Zeni was going to insist that they helped her anyway." Ayami thinks it can help her travel to other worlds! But she can probably explain that better than I can!" , Zeni would chime in briefly.
Gemini nods lightly in response. " True enough. I'm guessing you've used this at least once then, and explains why it looks so foreign." , Gemini then directs at Ayami.------ Ayami

Ayami rubbed the back of her head, grinning at Gemini's comment, in a way it was true, they had just met and were already pretty friendly with one another. Seemed it was true that birds of a feather flocked together and all that. She didnt really have anything further to say regarding that, maybe it's because she was in a focused mindset now. Like a switch was flipped, she dropped her goggles down in place over her eyes, leaning over the desk and giving a nod."You probably wouldn't know the make, it's older than our oldest recorded civilization from all that I can gather, and given observations from others. It's construction and design are archaic even by ancient Spiran standards, but what this thing does..."She'd give a quick whistle, making hand gestures against her head to suggest that what it was capable of compared to it's "newer" comparisons was mind blowing to say the least."If that old civilization had the capabilities of making something like this, let's just say they probably wouldn't be ancient history by now. To be honest...I'm surprised the others even trusted me with this thing. It was already broken and clearly missing bits when I found it. From what Zeni tells me, it's capabilities aren't too odd or miraculous, but I think if you know what it's capable of, and just how long ago it was made...Well it's definitely raising a lot of red flags for me personally."She gave another nod when Gemini asked for a description of the device's capabilities, keeping it quick to the point before replying."I'll tell you what I know then. And what theories I've gathered about it given some info my contacts gave me before I uh...Poofed to this place."Zeni and Gemini were about to see something rare - Ayami took on a serious expression. What she was talking about here was something she knew for sure had to be conveyed with the most proper wording and carefully thought out theories she could manage."Again, you may not be too shocked by this but...This little thing?"She lifted it up, carefully removing the upper portion to show it's innards. They were basic, and yet...It was clear whoever made this had a precise goal in mind, even if just what those inner workings did was a mystery."I've not figured out if there's even a button to make it go, but this thing? It shoots off some kind of odd...Beacon. And with that odd inky darkness appears. THAT is what pulled me here to your world, to this "Radiant Garden". But listen, before you say anything, here comes the strangest part. My world? We don't HAVE the technology to travel to other worlds. Or at least...We shouldn't have. Evidently someone from thousands of years ago had access to this thing, and they hit pretty close to home; my people's continent was where this thing was found buried pretty deep in the sands. Now, I did only get it to do that once, but...I suspect it just always does that. Now my uh...Working theories are that it doesn't necessarily create the portals, but calls them. Think like...Some kind of network. Weird I know but try to follow me here."She pointed to the crystal lodged within the device, it seemed pretty solid and unaffected by the thousands of years impressed upon the device."Maybe my arriving here wasn't a coincidence at all. Statistically, if there REALLY ARE a potentially infinite number of worlds as Zeni has implied... The chances of me landing here through sheer coincidence are so minuscule that I'd probably be more likely to have just been thrown right back into my own world before I ever had a chance of coming here."She looked back to the other two, placing the device calmly down on the desk once more. She checked to see if they were still following her train of logic regard the device's purpose. It was a long shot, but all she really knew was that this device was too old and basic to actually MAKE portals, and indeed a look inside it would confirm that sentiment to pretty much anyone.------ Zeni

Gemini would nod understandingly as Ayami pointed out that Gemini was unlikely to recognize the make. Even without opening it up, a cursory glance of the surface machinery was enough to tell her that this object was extremely unlikely to belong to Radiant Garden -- And if it did, it was undoubtedly a piece of ancient history. The fact that Ayami happened across such a thing is pretty miraculous... Even more miraculous is what this thing was apparently capable of. With the girl suggesting that it was 'mindblowing' compared to anything else that she had encountered.
Gemini was intrigued, to say the very least, listening intently to each word. This device had already undergone some repairs and jury-rigging, though only good enough for one use, considering it doesn't seem to work now. Hopefully with better materials on hand, and a greater understanding of this technology, they could create something... A little more long-lasting. That being said, not all of this was good news delivered. There were a few concerning things that Ayami should be rightfully aware of, but the woman would wait her turn to speak. She allowed the mechanic to finish, before finally chiming in herself..." Well, a device that can travel between worlds... Yes, that type of technology is pretty standard nowadays, though from your description, this is more akin to teleportation or opening a gateway. Most everyone else uses ships in order to travel between worlds. It's become such common practice that there are even services dedicated to taking people to and fro... You wouldn't believe how many people end up scattered across the worlds, far away from their home." , Gemini explained in a calm tone of voice." I digress. From your description, this probably opens gateways between world that allow for nearly instantaneous travel... However, it's not a normal gateway either. This specifically opens up what I imagine to be Corridors of Darkness. Those are primarily used by two things. Those who dabble in the use of Darkness... And the Heartless. Both are incredibly dangerous." , the scientist adds." If this is a beacon, that might prove even worse. There's no telling if simply activating this thing attracts Heartless to that location." , she finally pauses, letting Ayami take all of this in. " I explain all of this to you because this makes the device potentially dangerous for use. Perhaps not for yourself, but for others... Then again, that may also have only happened due to the excessively damaged state it was in." , Gemini then hypothesizes. It was all guesswork in the end, until they started to actually tinker with this thing..." It may not directly open these Corridors either... But that is also an alarming prospect. In the end, it belongs to you, and it's use also falls in your hands. But I recommend caution with it. Until we understand more about it's true nature." , Gemini finally concludes her speech.
Zeni seemed a little lost about all of this, and so... " Basically... We need to fix it up proper, and learn more about it? Well, good thing we have a lab dedicated to doing just that!" , she tried to make sense of it in her own way. Perhaps the Android's approach was the best. No sense in just getting all worried about it when they hadn't even started work on it!" Hmm... I agree with Zeni's thoughts on this. I'll help you repair it, and we might even be able to examine it's workings in greater detail here. I'll also grant you leave to use any materials here in order to repair it -- Within reason, of course." , Gemini would then add. The woman then smiles lightly. " While we're at it... I'll also continue working on it when you decide to explore Radiant Garden. You're in a new world, after all, and Zeni still needs to see everything it has to offer as well. So don't worry about having a break every now and then." ------ Ayami

The mechanic girl listened calmly as Gemini mentioned just how common world travel was. Sure enough it lined up with what Zeni seemed to imply, though to a small degree higher than she pictured, as well. Seems they weren't just personal, but public too? It definitely seems Ayami wasn't the first one to have accidentally dropped into Radiant Garden, either. She was starting to see why public transport was necessary, but also wondered if perhaps using that herself would be safer...
She shook her head, realizing that nothing like that existed in her world yet, as much as she would love to go home, there was still unfinished business she couldn't otherwise take care of if returning home was a one-way trip... Though she responded calmly once Gemini had finished speaking about similar tech, and how this device wasn't exactly on the same level after all."Well, Zeni can attest to what I said earlier, but I'll say it again for clarity; When that thing sucked me in, I woke up here in your world. There wasn't any traveling as far as I know... So that pretty much confirms your suspicions about it being more like a gateway of some kind. But..."She continued listening to the doctor's description of similar things. "Corridors of darkness"? What's more, the two primary users sounded like no good! She adjusted her goggles, nodding curiously. She had several questions in regards to this, none the least of which were why it sounded less like she had a piece of tech, and more like she had some kind of demon summoning ritual."Heartless are those things outside the city right? I saw one up close once...Nice kid, little prickly though."She chuckled to herself before allowing Gemini to continue her talk regarding the more...Dangerous matters. So her theory didn't fall on deaf ears. This was definitely seeming more and more like a beacon, but...It could potentially attract heartless? Maybe that was why...She shook her head, focusing. She let Gemini finally finish before speaking further."...When it activated, someone appeared from it. My d-... Someone I knew once. They told me about other worlds. About how mine was so limited. They invited me, and...Told me something cryptic. Something about my light...I still don't understand it all, but...I guess this whole "Multiple worlds" thing was part of what they were talking about. I haven't seen them since I woke up here, I don't even know if they arrived in the same destination."She stopped herself short of elaborating on just who it was...Maybe she didn't want to be open about it. Or maybe she just didn't want to admit it to herself. There was no way he could've been involved in this darkness stuff, right? He didn't sound hostile...She took on a visibly concerned expression, raising her goggles back to the top of her head before speaking up again, asking a very concerning question indeed;"These 'corridors of darkness', are there any side effects? The side effects! You know like...Something bad. If I use this again, will something happen to me? I gotta know. Yeah I can't argue when you say it's potentially dangerous, but..."She slammed one of her hands down on the desk, sighing in frustration."...I'm sorry, I just really don't have a choice, y'know? I need answers. I'm not going to find them any other way, this thing - It's the only clue I've got."More concerning was Gemini's theory, that it didn't directly create those gateways. But if the device wasn't doing it...What was? She gave a reluctant nod regarding taking caution with it. She couldn't just abandon it's use now, but it was a fair warning that she took to heart. She placed a hand against her head for only a moment, sighing before donning a light smile, much different from her usual. She WAS okay, but at the moment concern clouded her mind. Instead of getting answers, she got a hundred new questions.Zeni's voice brought her out of her short-term slump however. That optimism was still as contagious as ever. Hearing her and Gemini both offering to help, it went a long way towards restoring the smile she had before. She gave a firm nod."I guess it's decided then. We'll all work together to fix this thing back up to working condition, meanwhile the two of us will go and learn more about this place. Might be here for a while anyway. No telling how long it will be, but I think between the two of us, we should be able to make some headway."She threw her hands back onto her hips, giving a small laugh, after that emotional overload she couldn't really help herself, it just sort of...Came out."My life just got a LOT more complicated, huh? Well...Nothing I'm not used to! Where do we start?"Her laughing fit finally subsided and it seemed she was ready to get to work. The doubts and concerns might have still existed, but like before, she simply pushed them back. Pushed them far back in her mind where she could just focus on 'now'. It always kept her level-headed when she needed to be, the mechanic didn't really need to concern herself over sad things for very long. Sad just wasn't in her day planner!"I might need to take you up on that offer of using some of your things. I kinda left most of my tools back home!"------ Zeni

(Music)Gemini soon realized that Ayami might not know what a Heartless is, and in light of that... Decided it was best to teach her about them. The Scientist briefly turns her attention to a keyboard and types away at it. Soon afterwards, a monitor's screen flickers to life, and shows off the most basic form of Heartless, a Shadow. " This is a Heartless. They come in many varieties, and this is it's most basic form. To my knowledge, there have been no Heartless that can display sentience. They are essentially wild creatures... They seek to claim Hearts. For what purpose, no one truly knows. Perhaps to regain what they have lost." , the woman explains in calm tone of voice to Ayami." What we do know is this; they are our enemies, and if given the chance, they can even overrun worlds. Covering them in Darkness." , Gemini then adds. Though not her intention to frighten Ayami... It was important to know about this threat too. Because sooner or later, she was going to run into them. " The security system in Radiant Garden is meant to keep them at bay. Though some try to attack regardless. Most will keep their distance... But not all worlds are so lucky. And if you venture outside of town, you may well run into the Heartless." , she continues her explanation." They primarily use Corridors of Darkness to travel between worlds. Those who practice dark arts can perform the same feat... And they tend to be able to command the Heartless as well... So, we must hope that my suspicions are incorrect, and this device is safe to use. But we should leave nothing to chance all the same." , Gemini then falls silent, letting Ayami take all of this in." If you wish, you're free to examine the known species of Heartless here at my lab. Alternatively, Zeni has extensive knowledge of them." , there was just one other thing to go over... Ayami asked about side effects of using the Corridors of Darkness. There weren't too many dangers -- Aside from the obvious. But Gemini would go over them regardless." For the most part, traversing the Corridors of Darkness has no adverse effects on the individual. Though I assume that prolonged use can prove unhealthy. If done sparingly, it should never result in more than passing out. If there is a method to protect yourself from it, I'm unaware... But there might be options." , she addresses the question. " Aside from that. The Heartless make use of those Corridors too. You may run into them, and they would obviously not be too friendly toward you. The fact that you ended up in Radiant Garden unscathed is rather miraculous." The atmosphere became a little heavy... So, Gemini gives a nod to Zeni. Hoping that the Android can do something to lighten the mood up. The Android got the hint, smiling brightly. " Well! First thing we should do is decide Ayami's living space! She's been living out on the streets, and I think she could do with some much better shelter." , Zeni then suggests a different subject, to get everyone thinking a different way for now." The streets? Ah... Yes, if she's from another world, then she doesn't have any place to stay. I'm sure Zeni has already extended the invitation, but you're welcome to stay in this lab for as long as you need. I'm the only one here besides Zeni, so you won't be imposing." , Gemini then states.
Which only served to make Zeni raise her fist into the air in victory. " Yes! One task done! I guess we should get started on figuring out the inner workings of this device then! It's the only thing left we have to worry about." , after making that declaration, Zeni lowers her hand and takes a more relaxed posture. Though obviously she was still in a chipper mood." Quite right! Well then, Ayami. You've found this object and you know more about it than I do, so I'll let you take the lead for now." , the woman decides.------ Ayami
