Gemini: The woman responsible for creating her, a fairly enigmatic individual that is focused on aiding others, a sentiment that Zeni herself shares.
Personality:
Zeni is a kindhearted Android that genuinely wishes to help others. She is an example of truly advanced technology, and is by no means unintelligent, but... In many ways, she is like a child learning the ways of the world around her. Certain social cues that may seem obvious to some will be something that she does not understand. However, she has no aversion to learning these things, and actually finds life around her quite fascinating.
As a result, she exudes innocence, and her nature as such means that she holds no Darkness within her being. However, this does not mean that she is a being of Pure Light. The concepts of hate are lost on her, though she understands when she should fight in order to protect others. She isn't exactly the type that stops and thinks things through however, and will have no qualms with putting herself in danger if it would save someone else... Even if they might be a criminal. In her eyes, life is valuable.
She does respond well to teamwork, however. And will actively follow orders if it is someone she trusts, and it does not violate her protocols.
History:
Before The Project:
Gemini made her home at the world known as Radiant Garden, and has spent quite a long time there. Although there were some complications at times... Forcing her to go into hiding until the situation had calmed down. It was in more recent times that the world began to achieve some of it's former glory thanks to the group known as the 'Hollow Bastion Restoration Committee'. Their efforts went far to making the world safer, though it still faced threats by the dozen even with all of their hard work. Gemini naturally took notice of this, and felt as though she should help.
Though she was interested in approaching the group, she wanted to do so with something to show for it. She chose to put her mind to work, trying to come up with something that might assist the efforts in keeping the world safe. This hadn't gone as well as she hoped, however. Though she fancied herself a Scientist, and certainly had the knowledge and skills to back it up... It was putting all of that to use that was the problem. She needed resources, and an idea. Automated defense systems were already in place and there was unlikely to be many improvements she could make to such a thing without directly contacting them first and learning more about it.
She was resolved to help her world, but she just needed the right method of doing so... Aimless experiments and calculations eventually led her to ponder on the creation of an automaton. Robots weren't entirely unheard of as a concept, after all. But there was still the question of what TYPE of Robot she should make. Most of them could only follow basic commands and routines, and thus required at least one person with the know-how on operating them. No mere machine would do for this, she intended to create something more advanced...
An Android. Something of a myth, at least in her own world. But she set out to create one, and this led to the Project. It wouldn't be easy, however. But now she was filled with a purpose, and immediately set to work on making it a reality.
During the Project:
Though Gemini had an idea of what she wished to do, this was uncharted territory, and she was still acting independently. This didn't discourage her, however. Slowly, but surely, she gathered what she needed to make progress. It may not have been at a blinding speed, but it was happening. And as long as she was making that forward momentum, it drove her on. What started as a vague idea formed on a whim began to take shape. Though many would say that it was still a distant dream, she saw something that was very nearly real. She had already settled on a design.
It should look non-threatening, obviously. Yet it should not be defenseless. To that end, she decided on the appearance of a young girl. But the weapons system... That was more difficult to decide upon. Swords were an ever popular choice, it seemed. But she wished to do more than merely grant it blades. It needed variety to fit the many situations it would encounter.
But as it would be an Android, it could afford control over things attached to it... Thin, nearly invisible wires, for example. This would effectively make these weapons more like limbs or appendages... And the Android would be able to control them as such. She decided to take this a step further, and settled onto the idea of weapons that could transform. In this case, between a sword or a gun.
There were still many things missing, however. Such as the source of energy that could power her creation, and the demand that such an advanced piece of technology would take to perfect... Well, it certainly wasn't going to be easy, but she had come this far. Gemini was certainly not going to stop now.
The Final Stages of the Project:
For awhile, it felt like her idea had come to a grinding halt. She toiled away endlessly at various methods to power her creation for the first time, to get anything from it... But, nothing worked. Gemini grew frustrated, and wracked her mind endlessly trying to find the solution... Days wasted, and the result was the same. Gemini's frustration had boiled over, and she left her workplace. Staying cooped up in there wasn't getting her any closer to her goal. She needed to find something that might offer inspiration... She knew that Radiant Garden was host to a number of advanced technological inventions, perhaps she could find something within that well of knowledge.
Thanks to the security systems, it was safe enough to travel the world now. You could still run into Heartless, of course, and that was why she was careful in her wanderings around Radiant Garden. Though she found many marvels of modern science, there was nothing that would assist her in completing her magnum opus. Or so she thought... Gemini had found another world that was attached to their own. Or maybe it was incorrect to say 'world', or 'attached' even. But this revelation was one that would see her pulled into a new reality regardless of her own will. Though she did not know what had happened, this process was Digitization.
This place was not Radiant Garden, of that much she knew. The technology here seemed generations ahead of their own, and beyond that, there was nothing recognizable from her own world... Even her own clothes had changed, as if to suit her surroundings. There was no sense in her standing around waiting for something to happen. She sets off to find anything that might help. If there was nothing in her own world -- Then there might be something here.
Though as she takes her first step forward, she finds that she can barely keep her balance. Gemini soon falls to her knees, trying to steady herself -- To very little avail, as she soon places her hands on the ground to keep herself from falling flat on the floor entirely. She could have theorized a number of reasons as to why this was so disorienting, but there was no way to know for sure... Thankfully, as time passed, the dizziness began to die down. She slowly pushes herself back up onto her feet, and with her senses regathered, resumes her exploration.
Gemini ended up staying in this world longer than she had anticipated however. For one thing, there were a number of hostiles that she had to carefully avoid. For another, there seemed to be no other people like her here -- Or at least, not any that she had encountered. Only soldiers that seemed to be on a constant patrol... Gemini trusted her gut on avoiding contact with them as well.
It was not all a hopeless endeavor, as she was slowly becoming more acclimated to the world. There were just enough terminals that she could access in order to find out that anyone on 'The Grid' needed an Identity Disc... And that was something that intrigued her. Apparently such a thing was capable of storing information, and even made up the core of programs that were in this place. She found herself drawn to finding one of them now. Fortunately, the terminal she had accessed explained that as well.
With her ultimate goal seemingly in sight, she follows the directions that had been given to her in order to retrieve an Identity Disc. Although doing such a thing while maintaining a low profile would not be easy... In fact, it had almost led to her getting caught by those strange guards -- If not for the timely intervention of Heartless. It didn't seem like those two worked together, so that was fortunate enough. Due to this bit of chaos, she was able to take an unclaimed Identity Disc, and with it she gained a much greater access to the information sitting in this world.
But the first thing to do was to get out of sight now that she accomplished this feat. It was nothing but sheer luck that she managed to escape unnoticed, but in any case... She was able to tap into those terminals, and use them to collect something of far greater value than just the disc itself. This was all information related to creating a "Program". A developing AI the likes of which even her own world had never seen.
This would be the key that she needed. The only question that remained would be how she returned home. Gemini certainly couldn't stay here, but it seems that there was no means of exit... Until a corridor of darkness opened near her, however. An injured Heartless scuttled out from the dark portal, and due to it's injury, it did not seem interested in going after Gemini at the moment. Instead, it chose to run off.
Gemini took her chances, rushing through the corridor of darkness before it closes. It was another disorienting process that left her collapsed on the other side -- But she was still clutching that Identity Disc in hand... The only proof of where she had been. As she raises her head and glances to her surroundings, she finds herself back in Radiant Garden. Chances are, that Heartless from earlier got injured from the security system.
But there was no time to worry about that, Gemini would stand back up and immediately return to her lab with her new prize. This was everything she needed to make a Program in the real world...
Zeni's Birthday:
Gemini had lost track of just how long ago it was that all of this first began, and true enough this project would have been impossible if she had not been through such a string of fortunate events... But all that mattered now was that she had the Identity Disc, and she needed to place it into her empty shell of an Android. This was a delicate, complicated procedure just as one would have expected. It also required adapting a few things of her own technology to be compatible with the "Core".
But all of her tireless work and sheer effort had paid off. Her Android reacted once the Identity Disc had been properly placed within it's body. It's fingers moved first, then it began to shift lightly. Gemini smiled, waiting patiently as life began to form right before her very eyes.
And finally, her creation woke up...

Zeni's eyes opened for the first time, and it took a moment for her eyes to adjust to the light. In short order she had gotten used to sight, and then she began to glance around the room. Eventually, her gaze settles onto the woman with long dark red hair, and a white coat.
"Good morning. Your name is Zeni.", the woman spoke. The Android blinks once, then nods in response to show understanding. With that out of the way, the woman calmly approached, and began to fiddle with a few things still attached to the Android. "Now, I'm just going to adjust a few things here... It won't do for you to be unable to talk to anyone, after all."
A minute passes in silence as the woman works away at her task, and then she stops, leaning back in the chair she was sitting in. "Now, I'd like you to try speaking. Just say anything at all.", she'd then request.
"Good morning.", Zeni uttered her first words, though she lacked any real emotion at the moment...
"Hmm. Well, you can talk now, but something isn't quite right. Let's see here...", Gemini would turn her focus to her monitor, trying to narrow down the problem. It didn't take her too long to find the issue -- Of which there were a few in question. This was the first time she had actually powered on the Android, after all!
But it didn't take her very long to correct it either. Once she had, Zeni would sit up, now smiling in a genuine fashion. "Phew! That feels better! Thanks.", the Android then expresses her gratitude, already seeming more alive compared to before.
Gemini would give a nod, now turning her attention back to her creation. "Now, Zeni. Do you know your purpose?", the woman asks.
The Android gives a nod. "Yep! I'm supposed to help people!", she then responds.
Well, this was already exceeding the expectations that Gemini had set. So there was only one thing left to do now. It was time for the field test. Zeni needed to get out there and see the world for herself, and meet people. It would also be a good way for her to run tests on everything.
"Well Zeni, I'd like you to familiarize yourself with Radiant Garden. I'd like you to notify me of any issues, you have a lifeline right back to here, where I'll be staying. So you don't need to worry about being face to face with me in order to communicate.", the woman explains.
Gemini would be able to examine how the Android moved inside the lab -- And fortunately, Zeni didn't seem to have any problems there. She was walking around, looking at everything that caught her attention. There were also no concerns with her being a threat to anyone, based on Zeni's general interactions with her creator.
Gemini would turn back to her computer, and begin typing away on the computer. Zeni's eyes would flash briefly as she received a set of commands, mostly detailing that she should head outside. Conveniently she had been provided a map of the building she was already in, along with the quickest way to exit it.
The Android would immediately set off to her task! It was her birthday, and she had free reign to explore an entire new world!
