How'd you find us?:
Elfé / Felicia
Nickname:
N/A
Age:
Looks to be in mid-to-late teens, possibly early twenties. (likely about 27 canon-wise after Dirge of Cerberus)
Gender:
Female
Job:
AVALANCHE
Side:
Light
Family:
Veld: Her Father, a former leader of the Turks. She deeply cares for him, even despite the now complicated history between them.
Mother: An unnamed woman that lived in Kalm, deceased during the bombing.
Tseng: Though not related to her personally, it was his efforts that ultimately saved her and her Father's lives.
Rufus Shinra: Much like above, his efforts led to both Elfé and Veld surviving an attempted execution.
Turks: Many of the veteran Turks (including the Before Crisis Protagonist) led to Elfé ultimately being freed of Zirconiade and it's harmful effects.
AVALANCHE: She deeply considers AVALANCHE to be her family, this has not changed with regaining her memories.
Fuhito: Unrelated, A man that she used to trust, enough so that she allowed him the opportunity to lead AVALANCHE in her stead when Zirconiade left her too weakened on more than a few occasions. However, his true nature and attempts to use Zirconiade destroyed this entire relationship...
Shears: Unrelated, A man that she worked closely with during the first insurgency of AVALANCHE, and as with many of it's members, she feels indebted to.
Personality:
After losing her memories due to Hojo's experiments, Elfé became reserved. Lacking the usual charisma that one would have expected the leader of an eco-terrorist group to have. Despite this, she was not a cold individual. She trusted the members of AVALANCHE as a family, caring for their morale and well-being. This became especially evident when she realized that her fellow AVALANCHE Members were slaughtered by Shinra, intending to retaliate by executing the BC-Protagonist Turk personally under the belief that they were responsible.
Before losing her memories, and after regaining them, she cared deeply for her Father. Once freed of Zirconiade, she was also grateful to the Turks for their efforts in assisting her, to such a point that even despite her body barely having any strength left, she wished to fight to help everyone.
She is quick to blame herself for causing suffering upon others, even if such things are beyond her control and power. She ultimately wants to do right for others, and to that end, she still believes that Shinra must be stopped. However, she recognizes that without Zirconiade, this would be an impossible task as she is now. It has sparked a new drive within her, prompting her to improve herself so as to continue the fight that AVALANCHE started so long ago...
History:
Felicia's home was the village known as Kalm, and at that village she leaved the peaceful, happy family life. Always eager to see her father return home and able to spend time with his family, she would play with him during his breaks from work. But all of that would change on a particular disastrous day. Veld gave the command for a bombing assault on a target 50 kilometers north of the town, but due to equipment malfunction, the target was thought to be Kalm itself. The entire township had been destroyed, and any survivors were shipped off to the mansion in Nibelheim. There, Hojo would secretly experiment on Felicia, implanting the Zirconiade Materia within the back of her hand.Physical Description:
Professor Hojo was unable to get the results that he wished for, however, and as a result ordered the destruction of Felicia. Miraculously, she survived. Though she had lost her memories, and was reduced to wandering aimlessly. It was then that she was rescued by Fuhito, who brought her to Cosmo Canyon. There, she took the name "Elfé" and became a member of AVALANCHE. Hojo's perceived failure of the experiments he performed on her proved only half true, as it granted her heightened physical capabilities, and thanks to that she became a powerful warrior and asset to AVALANCHE as a whole. When the previous leader died, she was elected to become the new head of AVALANCHE, with Fuhito acting as her intelligence commander.
Eventually, their operations would move to Shinra's crown jewel itself; Midgar. But along the way they would encounter a man named Shears. He was the head of a gang which accosted AVALANCHE, complicating their efforts. At least until Elfé personally took on a few of his men. Shears himself proved little more of a challenge for her skill. She offered him a place in AVALANCHE, and he chose to join her, in order to stay by her side and protect her. Because of this chance encounter, Elfé gained yet another commanding officer, and an ally that cared for her well-being. Together the three would begin a full-scale war against Shinra in a bid to take them down once and for all.
AVALANCHE had several missions before Elfé made an appearance in a full-on assault on Junon. The assault was two-fold. One half dedicated to an attempted assassination of the President of Shinra, and the other half to take control of Junon's Mako Cannon to then fire it on Midgar. Fuhito handled the attempted assassination, whereas Elfé placed her focus on the Mako Cannon. To her dismay, she would find every member of her team slaughtered, some in a most brutal fashion. Finally fed up with Shinra, she would vow to get vengeance for her fallen comrades. Shortly thereafter, she would confront the BC-Protagonist Turk, intending to kill them to take revenge. The battle is short-lived, as she is nearly about the strike the felling blow, the Turk retreats.
She gives chase, and as she corners and draws closer to her prey, she is interrupted by the true murderer; Sephiroth. It took all of her strength to stop his attack, a fact that did not escape the silver-haired SOLDIER's notice. Using the brief opening to gain some distance, she then asks why he fights, before then explaining that AVALANCHE has their own reasons, and thus ordering the total retreat from the failed mission. She believed that Sephiroth was simply too great of a danger to her men, and recognized that she wouldn't be able to hold her own against him for very long.
After this, Elfé did not personally lead many assaults, but was still very aware of AVALANCHE's activities, and working from behind the scenes to assist the effort. Such as working with Fuhito during the operation to acquire Doctor Rayleigh's disk containing the data of SOLDIER, and then making preparations to go after Professor Hojo. Several skirmishes would take place, including the attempted kidnapping of Hojo, yet she would still not make a personal appearance for many of these battles. This would not change until the Informant they were working with would reveal the sole surviving Cetra. With this top secret information in hand, AVALANCHE would make it's move to secure the Cetra as well as the Promised Land.
As this was such an important step for the group, Elfé would take charge of the operation once more. Though she considered it important for the Promised Land to be kept safe from Shinra, she also ordered that no harm was to come to the Cetra. She waited at the church, where Aerith was eventually escorted. The Cetra is displeased with the actions that AVALANCHE took, and Elfé apologized for that, and the behavior of her subordinates. Hoping to show that she truly meant no harm to Aerith. She further offered for the girl to join forces with AVALANCHE, so that they might learn where the Promised Land is and protect it from Shinra.
However, the meeting ends up taking a different turn than expected, as Aerith seems to recognize Elfé -- Or rather, an old voice. The AVALANCHE Leader explains that she unfortunately doesn't remember her past, only remembering the points when she joined the group. Aerith elaborates that she doesn't think they had met before, but rather that she recognizes an old voice coming from inside of Elfé, and that it was in pain. Understandably, her reaction to this revelation was that of shock. Fuhito attempts to intervene, which then prompts Elfé to question why he is doing such a thing.
However, before any further efforts can be made to understand this new information, the BC-Protagonist Turk is discovered nearby, and men are ordered to go after them. Despite this, the Turk is able to defeat each soldier sent after them, and as such Elfé then entrusts the task to Shears. Eventually, Fuhito also joins into the attempt to kill the Turk. But this fact, combined with the battle taking place over the flowerbed in the Church, leads to Aerith shielding the Turk from further harm. The attack is eventually called off when Elfé suffers a sudden bout of weakness.
Shears immediately moves to assist her, and she explains that insists that she is fine. Despite this, AVALANCHE leaves, unable to convince Aerith to join their cause. The conflict eventually resumes when Shinra finally learns where AVALANCHE's headquarters is based; Wutai. Though Shears is tense about the situation, Elfé remains calm and vows that they won't fail to stop Shinra and save the planet. Fuhito later recommends that she retreats and entrusts the rest to himself and Shears. But Elfé declines, intending to repay everything AVALANCHE has done for her by fighting with them now. With that matter settled, she gathers the troops and briefs them on the oncoming attack on their headquarters.
Although the briefing ends successfully, and heightens the morale of AVALANCHE's troops, Elfé suffers from yet another sudden bout of weakness. She tries to push through this however, still fully intending to confront Shinra and protect everyone. Shears and Fuhito both do not allow her to do this, however. As a result, AVALANCHE falls back onto it's original plan. This results in the total destruction of their headquarters in Wutai, but Elfé, Shears and Fuhito all escape by making use of decoys to battle the BC-Protagonist Turk. All of this, along with many other things across the conflict, was thanks to none other than Rufus Shinra himself.
Despite their escape from total destruction, Elfé laments her weakness and the great sacrifices that resulted from her inability to fight and prevent the loss of life for AVALANCHE. Although this was indeed a massive setback for AVALANCHE, it did not spell the end for the group. Another massive struggle would begin in Corel, with the Anti-Shinra Group taking control of the Mako Reactor. Elfé was present for the occupation of this Reactor, and in this single instance they nearly pulled out a massive victory over Shinra; the Turks were cornered, and Rufus Shinra no longer served any usefulness to the organization. However, as Elfé shows up on the scene...Veld recalls her voice, and yells to her. This causes a profound reaction in Elfé as she begins to recall her past. But it also brings about disaster, as the Zirconiade Materia begins to behave erratically, taking it's toll on the girl. She struggles in vain as her body refuses to let her move more than a step without falling over. Elfé is carried away from the scene by Fuhito, unable to resist. The complications do not stop the overall plan from moving forward, however. The Corel Reactor is still bombed, as Fuhito takes advantage of the situation, kidnapping her. Three years pass. Her health continues to deteriorate, and she spends most of her time unconscious and at the mercy of Fuhito. The Turks and AVALANCHE battle to acquire all of the Materia to fully form Zirconiade. Unfortunately, Fuhito manages to acquire all of them, and begins to summon Zirconiade. The BC-Protagonist Turk battles bravely to prevent the full summoning of Zirconiade, but is unable to defeat Fuhito. The Materia embedded in Elfé then leaves her body of it's own will, fusing with the other four pieces to form the true Zirconiade Materia.
Fuhito then flees with the Materia in hand. Miraculously, Elfé survives the Materia being removed from her body, though she is incredibly weakened from the toll it has taken on her, and no longer being able to call upon it's power. Despite her apparent unconsciousness, she was aware of everything that happened around her. A conversation between Elfé and Shears reveals that she intends to battle Zirconiade before meeting with her father. Shears convinces her to stay behind, as she no longer has her power, and there is no reason for her to feel guilty. As Shears departs to settle thing for her, she eventually meets with her father, and she regrets the suffering she has caused everyone. They are about to board the truck and escape... When Shinra's Army interrupts, surrounding them, and threatening them all with execution.
Before this takes place however, it is suddenly revealed that the President of Shinra had a change of heart, and the punishment against the Turks is suspended. There was a condition to this, however. The Turks had to eliminate both Elfé and Veld. Though at first it seemed that the Turks would refuse, Tseng would then shoot Elfé and Veld, much to the surprise of everyone. Of course, this had been nothing more than a ruse. Elfé and Veld both survived, and were taken away from Midgar and the reach of Shinra.
Elfé still faced difficulty, the Zirconiade Materia left her weakened for quite some time, and even once she started to become healthy again; her old strength was gone. She was safe now, but she felt unsatisfied... Especially since Shinra was still at large. With no options left, Elfé remained in hiding, and began training...
(OOC Note: I am working under the assumption that Elfé has been in hiding for so long that she isn't quite caught up on all the news of the world. So she doesn't know about Shinra's downfall yet)
Quotes:
"Down with the Shinra!"
"You found me when I was wandering all alone, without my memories. I was raised by AVALANCHE. You're all like my family. That's why I'm going to fight with everyone and repay my debt."
"Judgement upon Shinra!"
Roleplaying Sample:
Elfé had spent so long in hiding. She was grateful to the Turks, as well as to her Father. It was all of their efforts that saved her life -- In turn, the entire world. The threat that Zirconiade posed was undeniable. However... Shinra still stood to this very day, and it was still causing harm to the planet. She kept thinking of her fallen comrades, and lamenting how poorly it had all turned out. Without the incomplete Materia attached to her body, she steadily grew healthier, and with her health returning... She began to train. She took up the sword again.
Yet she could truly feel the weight of her blade now. Strain set in when she tried to move as she did before. It frustrated her. She wasn't just back at square one, she was further back than ever... She had her life back, at least. She sighs heavily, sitting down and looking at the Materia she had gathered over time. It was quite the collection she built up. The closest approximation to her ability to repel attacks was the Wall Materia, but it wasn't nearly as strong. She also built up a collection of other Materia to produce magical effects. Healing was one she especially focused on. Now that she was just as 'mortal' as everyone else... That, and she didn't want to be reduced to being helpless as a result of injuries. She hated that feeling of helplessness.
It was another long day of training... As evidenced by the fact that she was still covered in sweat. She finally turns away from the Materia, picking up the bottle of water she had set to the side, upon doing so, she had a clear view of the back of her hand that once held Zirconiade. She briefly wondered... What would happen if she were to place another Materia there? As far as she could understand it, Zirconiade was only harmful to her due to being incomplete, as well as being a Summon intended to reduce everything to ash. There was reservation, of course. There was no way to know for sure what would happen if she did -- But it might return her old strength... Something she could definitely use right about now.
She pushes the thoughts aside for the moment, taking the cap off of the bottle and drinking the water. Once she's had her fill, she tightens the cap back on, and sets the bottle back down. ""A Summon Materia... Huh.", if she could acquire one, she could try. It's not like it would kill her immediately, even if she did have to remove it. She remembered that Zirconiade detached itself from her; and she obviously lived through that.
"Maybe that's what I need after all.", she mused aloud. She climbs back onto her feet, and dusts herself off slightly. Elfé knew one thing for certain. Shinra wasn't just going to go away by itself. Maybe it was time for her to get back out there... Take up the mantle of AVALANCHE once more, and put a stop to them. If she didn't, who would? But she couldn't just run out there right now and do it, no... She wasn't ready yet. Not quite yet. There would be a time for that war to start again, it wasn't now. She needed to train even more...
"Not only that... I need to find a new Summon Materia.", she then adds. She had no idea where to find one, but with her current skills, she could at least begin the search for one. That would be the real start to it all... Placing a new Summon Materia in the back of her hand, and seeing just what it would do to her. From there, she could make a plan on what to do. She knew the risks, of course. Even if it did work, it meant that she would be forfeiting the protection of the Turks. Standing against Shinra did that. She held no belief that her Father would agree to such a crazy idea either.
But she could still tell... The planet was dying. Something had to change. This was the strongest she had been in awhile, and that fact filled her with a newfound resolve. No more hiding. As far as Shinra knew, she was dead anyway. She just needed to avoid doing anything stupid... "Tomorrow, then. That's when I'll leave.", she then decides... For now, it was back to practicing. She collects her Materia, securing it to her body, and then she takes a deep breath. For awhile, she was uncomfortable about using it, even without it being attached to her body. She overcame that fear.
There was nothing else to do now but move forward.
