"I w-w-wa-as not re-re-reh-ready for thi-is-s." Spoke the hooded selkie through chattering teeth. She felt the biting winds at every bit of exposed skin on her and huddled over for warmth. No wonder the guy she bought that portal crystal looked at her like she was crazy. Having heard of this "Land of Dragons" from another group of travelers, Uriel didn't waste a second trying to find a way to go there. In hindsight, she at the very least should have gone clothes shopping.
Here she was, plodding through the snow on a mountain. At least in the distance, she could see some green at the bottom of it. If she didn't freeze her horns off here, maybe she could find something warm to eat.
It had been about a week since Uriel had first been transported from her homeworld. Going from the royal library to a town shrouded in a perpetual night in the blink of an eye was jarring, to say the least, but Uriel was willing to take it in stride. The selkies who raised her were a caravan for many years: Traveling was in her history, if not her blood. The last thing she was going to let slow her quest was some dumb mountain.
A feeling of lightheadedness crept over her mind, the wind blowing her hood down and sending another shiver down her spine. Each step in the snow leaving her feeling woozier until she finally fell over, face first in the banks.

Let my fangs set you free The Land of Dragons was aptly named. It was a mystical realm where these sentient beasts of power watched over the land. Whatever was taken or give to it the great guardians took heed. For a select few they we're able to call these powerful guardians their ancestors. Come desperate need and great peril to the family they would be able to call to these great spirits for aide. On some worlds these alliances were the norm whilst on others it was considered a curse to be bound to the guardians of the alter realms. Summons, Guardian Force, Ancestors: whatever a world called them the price for their fury was all the same were one to interfere on their lands. A pair of eyes watched as a strange looking being marched about below in the freezing mounds of their mountain home. The beings burdened by trespassers as of late. First a mage touched by darkness and a man who controlled machines. Now this? The larger male, dressed in black with molten gold eyes and deep red hair would look over to the man sitting beside him in the tree they stalked. The more darkly dressed man-in disguise was crouched forward, a hand in the branch above as he leaned with curiosity. "It looks like a sheep, but it shows flesh. Is it a man?" It was queer to see one so underdressed for such difficult weather. She looked ready to keel over. The beast drooled, jaws parting and revealing a mouth full of fangs. Was much smaller than the man beside him, a full head. He wore cargo shorts and a black tee shirt, over it a red vest. His hair was slightly paler and eyes a deep claret. "Wait..." he held up his hand, halting his sibling's course of action. "We should offer our services to this traveler..." he smirked, looking up at the larger. "Besides we cannot suffer to punish the good. If she is wicked, I will smite her and you may have your feast." The pair were agreed in their ascertains as the kind of threat this voluptuous woman was, if she was a woman! Not that the pair were concerned with the trespassers gender either way so long as the interloper was removed with haste. Dropping down from their perches the pair of dragons would land with a soft thump against the deep mountain snows, sinking ever slight upon the fresh powder looking akin to gangsters in the way they stood cornering off the traveler's path. Strong winds whipped across the landscape, sheering a small layer of ice of the banks of snow. One such breeze would carefully pull the traveler's hood down to reveal a pair of small horns sprouting from her head. Attempts to tug or yank them off would only cause her some vague discomfort. Uriel's head shifted and tilted back as the sound of footsteps seemed to grow closer. Was she hallucinating? Was this real? If she weighed her options and did the calculations in her head, Uriel realized she'd stand more to gain from waving them over if they were real... and if she was waving at no one? Well, things couldn't get much worse. Behind the collapsed figure, something would raise up from the snowbanks. A draconic tail seeming to slowly wag in an attempt to get the attention of the two red globs of color heading her way. Uriel channeled what strength she had left to try and pull herself slowly forward, leaving a trail in her own shape in her wake.

Let my fangs set you free The two had landed a considerable distance away from the fallen body. They had, at first, thought it was some sort of human. Their collapse a welcomed advent as they were never keen on intruders in their icy territory and were want to torment them, haunt them even as many voices would hail the mountains haunted. They would look to each other, tilting their heads in tandem to the other as they pondered the possibilities. Dressed as they were the pair seemed used to the icy chill of their mountain home, but were hardly in the same state as the woman who seemed to be mostly sans a proper outfit. They strode over, examining the felled beast like a piece of meat. The larger of the pair approached, head out and hands on his hips as he sniffed, taking in her scent. His lips curled up in offense as he scoffed, turning his head away. "She stinks." The larger beast hissed as he bared his fangs at her, the edge of his lips drooling. "Let me jsut eat her so I can get more powerful." He bade his sibling. The smaller male crossed his arms over his chest, sniffing at the aura around the woman. "If i let you eat her than what sort of guardian would I be? If there was less light in the world than evil would take over. Your cursed darkness only drives you to be so destructive." Yet his zealous intents would have had him heralding her death were she a servant of the dark. The smaller male moved forward and would attempt to dig his boot under her head to try and raise her chin. "Did you die?" He could only hope. While she seemed to be a denizen of the light she was still a trespasser. "What are you?" The pair had no tact concerning her state, they themselves indomitable in the face of the icy heavens. The exhausted woman in the snow normally might have tried to send some sort of witty retort the larger twin's way, but right now she was just too exhausted. Her tail flopped back down into the snow with a small splash of the white powder. She used what little strength she had to try and pull herself a bit closer to the smaller one since he at least seemed more sensible, but an itch in her made her flinch and fall face first into the snow once again.
Only a few seconds later her chin was cupped and held back up. If she could muster more words than she would have thanked the twin for sparing her nose from frostbite. "I-I'm... alive." She shivered as another gust of wind made her hood flap in the breeze, "I'm... a-a drag-gon... was... Came to learn..." The bitter cold seemed to freeze her mind between each word, the downed woman tried to pull herself up for a moment to get a better look at her 'saviors' in the whiteout.
The woman's eyes were a bright golden yellow with slitted pupils. As she sniffled she could smell the wet leather of the boot beneath her nose, "... Are you two... dragons?"

Let my fangs set you free The pair had never seen anything like it. She was pretty pale, the pair themselves darker skinned due to their active lifestyle. She barely wore any furs, despite the blistering cold. It was expected of most humans. Even they garbed themselves if only to emulate the creatures they were born to watch over. She had a tail, of which they had yet to see any humans with such an appendage. They had no such visible sources of their true forms on their body save for those inhuman fangs that lined their mouths with serrated points. Titan knelt down and stared at her face, cocking his head as he took in her scent. "You don't look it." Alive, nor a dragon. He seemed to snort and draw his tongue over his mouth. That scent -- how divine -- how edible. The voracious fiend was halted with a boot to his face, his older brother, despite his considerable size difference: had ceased his cannibalistic thought with a boot to the head. Titan glared up, growling against the sole of the shoe which he bit down on. Nymph had tucked his hadns in his pocket and grinned. When she had asked if they were dragons he had removed his foot from remaining her chin's perch and curbstomped his sibling. "Now, now Titan, we should welcome our trespasser." He said with a chuckling hiss. He shifted his boot and shoved Titan back forcibly, the brute scuttering to his feet, shaking off the snow from his body. "Drag her along, we can warm her up..." Despite the seemingly kind gesture his voice carried a hint of annoyance, maybe even disgust. Titan griped at the idea but would move and attempt to grab her tail and leg, hauling her to a nearby outcropping of rocks where an old camp sat, abandoned amongst the ice and snow. Pulling a flint from his pocket Nymph would hunker down and start the fires up, feeding it with a bit of tinder from a nearby pile. This was far from the most dignified form of being rescued. Being salivated over by the larger of a pair of redheads, and the smaller one telling him to 'drag' her to wherever they were staying. A subdued yelp escaped the selkie as she felt the larger of the two grab her by the tail and leg and pull her over. The woman left a deep imprint on the snow that was lengthened all the way to the outcropping.
The warmth that soon emanated nearby immediately caught the intruder's attention. A surprising burst of energy and newfound strength swiftly bringing her right up in front of it. It felt as if her insides ere thawing out, a look of pure bliss washing over her face and she held her hands out before the fire. A relieved sigh escaped the strange woman as she huddled up in front of the flames.
"Ahh... Y-you both... are life savers..." She chattered through her teeth, "I'm... Uriel. I came from... another world to find dragons... like myself..." Each pause was filled with a deep breath to fill her tired lungs. In time those gaps would disappear while her stamina returned in the presence of the flame. "I'll make sure to pay you back however you'd like with interest..."

Let my fangs set you free The beasts settled down on a log that was at the fire's camp. They had dropped the woman on the other side of the flames, the voracious dragons eyeing her as if she were to be their next meal. While one looked upon her like a feast, the other looked to her as if she was a threat to the sanctity of their peace. Titan clasped his hands together and leaned forward, his elbows resting upon his knees. His dark, amber gaze traced over the woman's voluptuous figure pondering where best to sink his fangs. Nymph sat straight and had crossed his left knee over his right, left hand grasping his ankle to hold him in a proud posture. Both seemed disinclined to keep their company long. Titan remembers his days traveling the stars in search for a means to save his twin. But hearing that other creatures born from light have this capacity makes him uneasy and paints his desire ever darker. If he could end her now there would be one less worry. How many more creatures of light have invaded his home? How many need he consume before they learn their place? The very thought had him at edge. "You need not thank us, because your time here will be short." He growled. But how she left: in one piece or many, would be up to the brothers. The red eyed sibling smiled and gave an energetic nod. To think there were more creatures of light who could travel and due to smite the wickedness that he heard from his brother which filled the verse. Ever though excite was he: the idea of a stranger perversion their land, defiling it, set him on edge. She would pay, because theirs was not a charity. "You say you are a dragon, but your scent is unfamiliar. You stink of humans and you take their shape." However hypocritical his own words were, they had little choice, because of their size. Uriel was not welcomed, but were she to look around there was naught but a barren landscape. Winter had come and consumed the bamboo forest. All was blanketed in a sheet of white creating a consuming silence only broken by the crackles of fire biting away at the charred wood. The rather hungry eyes on her body didn't much impress her. This garb seemed to get weird looks from random passersby all the time. She could tell though that these two clearly had a more literal hunger behind their gaze this time. With a soft sigh turned to the hungrier looking one: Titan. "I have to warn you against eating me..." She said in a low tone as if leading to some weighty threat, "Because my might is very stringy!" Her tone shot right back up upon that strange admission.
She huddled up close to the flames and grinned over towards Nymph, "As for why I look like this... well it's a long story. One I'm perfectly happy to share!" She let her hand wander her form until she pulled out a small bag. The sharp nose pair might have noticed a pleasant, meaty scent from it. A tear echoed through the peaks as she opened up the paper bag, revealing some strips of jerky. She took a bite of one and then set the bag down at her side, close to Titan.
"Back on my world there was a mysterious miasma that corrupted all it touched. When I was an egg it effected me too and kept my from ever hatching. Some kindly caravaners came by dumped some really rare magical sap on my egg and well... when I came out I looked like this." She gestured to herself before pausing, "Well, not exactly like this. I was a lot smaller. I like to think this form filled out nicely... and the looks you two are wearing are pretty appealing too."

Let my fangs set you free The twins looked to each other, regarding her pathetic attempt to forestall any attempts in ending her life. It was rather amusing to see a creature like her squirm. They carried doubts of her lineage. A dragon was no coward. They were further taken aback by her inability to stave off the cold. Being Mountain Dragons the twins aversion to icy temperatures was negligible. It was just how their home always was! Even during the spring the cold weathers of the high peaks was discernible from the southern lands. Titan was uninterested in her blabbering, her tale. A creature of light like she was seemed only good at causing mayhem for Dark creatures like him. She was better off being consumed! His nose twitched as the scent of meat came to the air. Not just any meat but smoked meat! He licked his lips and looked to her bag. His jaws smacked together hungrily as he drooled a bit at the prospect of food. Nymph laughed, her tale quite an intriguing one. "By the looks of the situation, than, you are a failure." He presented. "By your scent you are a creature of light. It is your duty to smite the sinful and evil that creates cursed air. You were raised by men, making you even weaker. How can you call yourself a dragon? You can barely sit in the cold." He looked down to his clothing at her regard. "It is for movement. We only wear this flesh to walk among men who would do to fear our great power. We observe them and smite those unable to maintain the purity of light and goodness." He felt it was his duty, his divine will to save the world from darkness. "Look at my pathetic brother, see what darkness does to him? I cannot let the stars above, let alone our world be cursed in such a way." The way he said it almost sounded heroic. By now Titan's face had found to burrow itself in the woman's bag as he attempted to take a mouthful of the meaty treat. His attention was grabbed when Nymph mentioned him being a curse on the family. He would nod and were he successful in snatching some meat: he would do so with stuffed cheeks. Uriel had not been completely paying attention to Nymph's words. If she was, she'd done a very good job at proving completely uninterested. Instead, she would snicker as Titan managed to fit his whole face into her bag of jerky, thank goodness she stored some away somewhere else on her person. She pulled the sides of her jacket together on a completely unrelated note.
Around the time Nymph got to explaining the reasoning behind both him and his brother's garb, their guest let out an uncouth yawn. Her teeth exposed for a few seconds before she cricked her neck, "Well I see why you haven't smote... smitten, smoot? ... Oh, bother, I'll go with smote. Smote... your brother, he's adorable." While Titan chewed away on the meat he'd find his head being gently pat before the hand was deftly pulled away to avoid any potential nips.
"As for my lacking strength... well I have some skills. For the most part, it's in entertainment and fortune telling. If you'll give me a moment, I can tell you brothers exactly what predicament you'll be in a few minutes." Whether or not either of them were interested, Uriel fished something from her jacket pocket. Some flash with a curious carving on the metal. She took a couple swigs and for a moment, the twins would see a glow surrounding her. Their visitor's eyes began to shine like beacons in the snow storm...
And just like that, it was over. With renewed energy and a bit of a sway in her step approached Nymph. "I see... " Suddenly she stumbled back as a loud laugh came from her, full and hearty. It almost echoed over the peaks in this fierce wind. IT took time for her to regain her composure as when she glanced back up she was struck with it again, "I... heehee... I see you, with your rear end sticking out of snow. except.. you're much... smaller than I expected." She snickered, eventually calming down enough to look over at Titan, "Hmm... You will experience a very intense coughing fit than a sneezing one... and you'll be sent sliding backward until you're dangling off a cliff? you should watch out for that."
As the last of the glow faded from her eyes she made one last prediction, "... and in the very near future. You're next line will be, "Like we're supposed to believe that load, Failure." in unison. Go ahead."

Let my Fangs purify you! | Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling Do you feel my heart beating? Do you understand, do you feel the same? | 0424 words commentary Between darkness and light the one who does the most evil is bound to be the most fearful of retribution. | The twins were not impressed by this woman. Her behavior was misaligned with all they understood and recognized about dragons. She was scantly dressed and did not seem to wear the colors of her house. They have heard about rouges like this before who eventually become vassals for evil.
Titan reached up and pulled the bag from his face, jaws clamped down over his prize. The wild grin painted a feral joy onto the brutish male who seemed to take pleasure in shredding the dried meat strip in his jaws before biting it down in just a few motions. His molten gold eyes drifted up, a sensation atop his skull. He canted his head, growling softly at the female whose existence was damnation on his very soul. Being a being of Darkness denizens of the light were his mortal enemy so for one to demean him as such... but he would follow the demands of his older brother for now. If they could make use of this woman perhaps they could secure the second totem.
Nymph sat back, the fires between them crackling. His gaze on the woman was marked with a mild interest, but a distinct measure of disdain for her being. To think that she would imbue in such profane acts. Drinking alcohol only did to numb the soul to enlightenment and her brazen act of fortune telling fired up the skeptic in Nymph who had, himself, faced punishment for simply being born... naught came to change his fate for he still wafted on the winds searching for a master.
Their eyes turned to the woman as she gave her divination. The twins looked to one another than to her. Nymph sneered and leaned forward. "Like we're supposed to believe that loa--" but before Nymph could finish speaking Titan smooshed his hand to his brother's face as he stood.
"Wait, are you saying we could die?!" Titan was a bit more sensitive towards ill omens than his kin as Darkness was often in favor of summoning the worst sort of karma. He had remembered facing a being of intense light. Someone had told him shortly before to watch out, he was courting danger. That Warrior of Light had nearly slain him! The beast moved in front of Uriel, another piece of jerky hanging from his lips, fists clenched before him. "Listen soothsayer if what you say is the truth you are responsible for this!" he barked. "If it is to come true you would and should be the one to stop it!"

Uriel blinked in surprise when Titan, the darker one managed to throw off her prediction. That was a first. The sheer intrigue of this turn of events brought a grin to her face, along with the renewed energy given by the myrrh. The woman leaned in towards Titan, "Honestly. I can't say! This kind of myrrh doesn't show me everything... just little bits and pieces with no context. All I can say is that... well, one of you will be dangling off a cliff. If that cliff was only ten feet or two feet from the snowy ground? I couldn't tell you!" She smiled playfully at him, "Buuuut... Since it didn't tell me my own fate I suppose I can try to help in case things go south... The future's not in my hands though: It's in no one's."
She let out an almost drunken giggle as she spun about in place in the snow. Excite laughter soon gave way to hitching gasps until Uriel suddenly sneezed hard enough to put herself back in a sitting position. If either of the twins looked close enough they would have noticed a quick burst of flames from her mouth and nose that propelled her to the sitting position: Seems there was still a bit of dragon somewhere deep inside her.
"Bleh... Your Darkness makes my nose itch." She muttered under her breath before stretching out and dusting herself off, "... I do have a question though. If you're dragons shouldn't you be able to fly? Why would you be worried about a fall if you can fly?"

Let my Fangs purify you! | Close your eyes, give me your hand, darling Do you feel my heart beating? Do you understand, do you feel the same? | 0000 words commentary It may be a short fit but it was likely due to the fact they were double the fun! | Titan was assured that she could somehow stop it, but Nymph still had his doubts. It seemed wildly too open ended, as if any small event she set forth could create her will. No Nymph will carry his doubts. Plus why would he ever need to dangle off a cliff?! He was a mountain dragon! Hmph!
"Yea!?" Titan barked at the woman. "Well yer light makes me hungry! Maybe I should consume you so the prediction doesn't come true!?" He was a bit more superstitious than his brother for obvious reasons.
Or not so.
"Now, now Fai. We should let her little game pan out. IO am sure she is just looking to get under our skin, besides why did you end up in our territory? You don't look like a -- mountain dragon. Why are you even up this far?" Cai was a suspicious sort, only believing that which he could see for himself.
Standing Cai would move to the cave's entrance. the snowy winds still blew strong. There was no way they could go out in this condition. It was also important to note that Uriel's presence seemed to call forth more denizens of the darkness that fed on light, but for now it was unimportant.... |

Their visitor was unperturbed by Titan's words. Instead, she just itched her nose and yawned, "Sorry to say I can't promise that would work... I've left towns after making predictions and they usually come true. Sometimes they come true in very unexpected ways." With a somewhat drunken smile she looked up and down over the dark infused dragon, "Besides, I think I'd be a bit too much trouble for you to try and scarf down."
"I may not look like much but I'd definitely fight you all the way down your gullet!" A curious little ornament on a chain tumbled out of her sleeve at the end of her retort.
Her attention was drawn away again by the more slender brother's question," My chosen method of transportation isn't very accurate... I've popped onto the surface of worlds in ponds, or in chicken coops. This is the first time I just popped into existance on a mountain range." She wrinkled her nose as the cold winds nipped at her, "... and frankly I'm not sure what kind of dragon I am. I'd hoped that you both might be able to answer tha--... tha... "
Those words were interrupted by her body's regular response to the presence of the dark beside her," HAAEEESSHHOOOOOOO!" The woman let out a remarkably loud sneeze that echoed all across the mountain range and even managed to spread a gout of holy flames in front of her. "Wow... That was a big one." She looked to Titan again, "You're not shedding or something are... you... do you hear that?"
There was some faint rumbling up the mountain. A cascade of snow and whatever was swept up with it. Just as it looked like the trio would be buried in an icy demise... it seemed to slow down to a crawl beyond the cave. "Huh, That was luck-Eh-shiew!" That last sneeze ushered in another rumble, this time smaller but closer. The Cavemouth Nymph stood before was soon buried, along with the one half of the twins in snow and dust.
