She was really relieved when Cloud talked to her, reassuring her he would be fine. She would help him out, of course, if he needed it, but she had confidence in Cloud. Hopefully this round would be much more friendly, rather than 'to the death' like the first one. She nodded to him, giving him a quick hug before skipping off to the little table and chairs, setting her bag down on the table with the coloring items. She smiled across the table at her companion, offering her small hand to him as she had seen adults do. Hey expression becomes serious, as serious as an almost-9-year old could be.
”Hi there...thank you for being willing to battle me in a drawing contest. I'm Marlene Wallace, it's nice to meet you."
She would dig inside her bag, pulling out two handfuls of crayons and placing them on the table, happy to share. She glanced toward the other two, and smiled.
"Kick butt, Cloud! Show them what you got!"
She looked back to her coloring companion and grinned.
”All right! Let's get started. You can use any colors you want, I brought plenty for us to use."

| I'll never let go
- - - - - - - I promise
The girl introduced herself and she shook the hand with a smile, "Locke Cole, Treasure Hunter Extraordinaire! A pleasure!" It seemed kind of funny how they ended up in a coloring contest, especially after that last match. He still pondered if those two had fought children in the past. Hopefully they hadn't. Perhaps that was a thought for another time.
It appeared the girl had a lot of crayons of her own. Looking over them, Locke did wonder how well Edgar would fare. He had stepped to take the competition with the girl since it seemed like the more logical decision with how Edgar felt about the situation. However, if this man had as many tricks as their previous opponents had, then he suspected there'd be some issues. Especially since he probably wouldn't use many of his machines while they were nearby.
Looking over the pictures to color, Locke took up a crayon and tested a red color as he started with some of the scenery. He wondered if he could combine colors, like if he went over area's with red and then with pink, would that give some nice effect? Maybe give the sky a light pinkish color. Or yellow, yellow'd be great, he wondered if he could alter the picture somewhat, maybe include a dragon. Then his mind recalled Figment, I bet he'd love this. The treasure hunter started to chuckle a little.
Peeking to the side, Locke took a look at the crowd, curious if the dragon was even around. Then again, he doubted the dragon would be interested in a fighting tournament. If it had all been a coloring contest, then he'd definitely be there too. All Locke did when it came to drawing or coloring was treasure maps. Perhaps the girl would like to see that too. He thought a bit further as he picked a pink color and started to rotate it while drawing a building in red and pink colors. He was mainly just testing the colors to see how the colors came upon paper. made by kiwii at btn! rebuild by metus at khmm! | |

Cloud let Marlene give him the biggest hug that she could muster up. Cloud smiled at Marlene as she darted off to the table. Cloud then turned to his then opponent, letting him give a piece of his mind to Cloud in full. Cloud watched emotionless as the man with the spear in his hand let him know exactly what he thought of Cloud and how by defeating him here would, in all actuality, help Marlene and save her from getting hurt. Cloud rolled his eyes a tiny bit, retightening his grip on the two swords that he had in hand. This man sure did have a lot to say about Cloud’s parenting skills. Cloud figured that he could let him get to Cloud but Cloud had been called a lot worse by many who appeared stronger. Whether this man belonged to said club remained to be seen. Cloud didn’t count on it, though. The fact that he might not even see this man again helped that notion.
“Well, I guess that means you want me to start things off, I suppose. Good luck.”
Cloud had to make sure to watch for Marlene and his opponent’s partner, he couldn’t use anything that would destroy the area and if he were to go long distance, Cloud had to be sure that his attacks would not, in any way, be turned to go against Marlene. Cloud had no reason to trust his opponent with anything, despite them agreeing to let this be a one on one fight. He would go for something quick and then move in on his opponent. Cloud brought his full, undivided attention to his opponent and used his serrated blade attachment to launch his Blade Beam attack, swiping at the air toward his opponent to send a high energy beam toward his opponent, letting his blade hit ground. As the wave of energy came hurtling toward his opponent, Cloud dashed with high speed behind it. He attached his second serrated blade attachment to his massive sword and went on the offensive, giving a powerful slash that went diagonally from his opponent’s left shoulder to his right hip. Cloud would hit hard and his fast. Although his attention was undivided from the moment he began his attack run, he went toward Marlene’s safety again. However, Cloud reassured himself that if he was fated to lose due to taking damage in order to protect Marlene, then that would be what he would have to do.
Actions Taken:
1. Cloud attempts to use Blade Beam on Edgar
2. Cloud dashes into Edgar and attaches the second serrated blade.
3. Cloud attempts to give a powerful slash from Edgar's left shoulder to his right hip
Moves Used:
Blade Beam: Cloud gets his power to surge through his blade, after that he swings his blade toward his enemy from afar, giving his enemy a wave of energy that can cut through almost anything. (3 post cooldown)

Maybe Edgar was being too harsh on the boy? It was possible that the blonde felt he was strong enough to do this himself and just brought the girl along thinking he'd be able to fight and babysit. The King did not know the situation behind this whole ordeal. However, he did know that this girl was not powerful or talented enough in combat to be here. The fact that they had made it out of the first round was impressive enough as it was. Unless the first round did the same and handicapped themselves to keep the girl safe where Cloud was not.
There he was judging Cloud again!! It wasn't his business. He needed to focus on this match. Not the fact that the man was ignoring him and even rolled his eyes.
The King had an unusually stern expression on his face. He would prove to Cloud how unsafe this was and make sure that he took this girl home. Marlene's safety was coming far above his will to make it to the top and locate his friends. He knew they could handle themselves better than this young girl could be able to manage with such a low life for a father. Cloud caught on quickly to the fact that Edgar was waiting to let him go first. Edgar was a bit short on abilities and tools that would only affect Cloud. Though, the King was hoping that Cloud would be in the same predicament.
Cloud's quick movement was rather impressive for someone with a blade that large. Normally the people with the larger weapons were much slower. But, he was above par in strength is seemed. Edgar would need to be careful. His armor slowed him much more, but it also allowed him to take more damage than most. Edgar had to admit, his attention had turned a bit to the man's blade. He vaguely remembered the man combining more pieces to his sword. It seemed that the attachment gave the blade a little more strength. It was quite an impressive tool. Maybe Edgar could use that concept to build on one of his own tools or create another. That could be quite fun!
Edgar watched the Blade Beam heading right for him, Cloud moving fast behind it. The blonde would be foolish to think that Edgar would just stand there that whole time and not do anything about it! The King was trying to learn his movements and techniques so that he could best the man. He quickly picked to run to Cloud's left, needing to dodge roll quite awkwardly. He really disliked needing to focus on avoidance. He much preferred being able to take the damage for the team, focus on attacking, and allow one of his comrades to heal him. This scenario made the battle that much more difficult.
The King hit the ground and rolled on his right shoulder, tucking his lance as he did and recovering to his feet. The good news was that he avoid what looked like a rather painful slash. Sadly, the beam was a larger wave than he expected it to be, feeling the damage from it's concussive force. It was rather painful for such a strange attack. It seemed more similar to Sabin's punches where he was able to practically use pure energy to attack. "It's a good thing I enjoy sand...." He commented to himself as he got to his feet and moved back towards Cloud. He decided to go in after retreating this time.
After recovering back to his feet, he advanced forward towards Cloud. His faithful lance gripped tightly into both hands as he jabbed forward at the blonde. As he jabbed forward and retracted his weapon backwards, he quickly followed up with a a simple magical attack Bolt behind Cloud's original position. It seemed liked the most logical direction for the man to shift if he was avoiding the lance. But, Edgar wasn't always the best tactician. Celes and Terra were more fit for that role. But, he'd picked up a few tricks here and there. "..... I need more single target tools...." He complained to himself as he glanced over in Locke's direction. "HOW'S THAT COLORING GOING, LOCKE? STAYING IN THE LINES?" He shouted. He wasn't sure when Locke would want to trade out or not.
Sore from dodge rolling the attack, still damaged by the force of the blade beam.
Actions:
1) Watches the attack and jumps to Cloud's non-dominant side to avoid the attack, still getting hit with Blade Beam.
2) Steps forward and uses his lance to jab towards Cloud.
3) Summons Bolt behind Cloud to try preempting his movements and hitting him.
Bolt - A low level thunder-elemental attack that injures the target. [Cooldown: 1 Post]

Marlene began coloring, her concentration mainly on the drawings and lines and the selection of colors spread out on the table in front of them. She occasionally glanced over her shoulder to check on Cloud, but her main concern was on the little contest between herself and Locke. She was glad that he seemed to be friendly, though she wasn't sure if he really wanted to be coloring. She had held her own, sort of, in the first match, though it had really been Cloud who had fought the most. She had simply assisted him. In this arena, she had her own opponent, and Cloud had his.
Selecting a new color, Marlene colored in a yellow hat on a blue-robed figure, and looked over at Locke's paper, just curious to see how his was coming along. She hadn't colored with other adults before, aside from those she knew back home, so this was an opportunity to see what others could do, creatively. She smiled at him across the table before glancing back to the fight, keeping an eye, or ear, rather, on what was happening behind them...just in case. She was impressed to see the back and forth between Edgar and Cloud, as they seemed to have a sort of measure of the other. Hopefully this would be a good competition. She also hoped people wouldn't think that they couldn't make it further 'because she was a kid'.
”Locke...thank you for coloring with me. But I hope you don't think I'm 'just a kid. I can fight, too. Tifa says someday I can kick butt like her. I already know I can throw things pretty hard, and with good aim. At least, that's what I know."
She finished the hat on the little blue-robed character, and started the next part of her picture, looking to Locke somewhat shyly.
"I mean, I'm not just a kid. That's what I mean. I do color and play with things but I also am almost 9 years old. I don't want people thinking I can't do things... I don't know if you understand that, but that's how I feel.."
She brushed her bangs out of her face, an earnest expression on her face as she continued coloring.
