Tournament Reviews This template is to be used for all Tournament reviews. It is the same form that staff uses. Please copy and paste the code from the bottom into the appropriate match review thread that has been created by the staff. Please do not create your own thread. You cannot review a thread that your character participated in. For every knowledgeable and well written review, you will gain 20 munny to the character account you post the review with. You may only post one review per thread. Please be sure that your review is detailed and informed. Site Rules still apply to raid reviews, so be polite and respectful. Everything a member posts is to be read as constructive criticism and is not to be taken as an attack. Any issues should be reported directly to a staff member. Damage Inflicted and Taken: What powers were used and what damage taken should be reviewed here, as well as the effects of any powers used. Basically, which side dealt more and which side took more damage. Key Points:- Overall damage inflicted
- Strategic use of items
- Overall combative dominance
Questions to Ask Yourself:How much damage would that skill have inflicted on the target? Would a skill be super effective against the character, such as using a potion against someone inflicted with zombie. Who caused the most damage? Which side would have probably won the fight. Skill and Style: This isn't for it being well written, but the creative style and effect of their strategy and if it also had a imaginative visual. Key Points:- In-Character Combat Style
- Skills used wisely
- Use of weaknesses and strength
Questions to Ask Yourself: Did the member stick to their character's fighting style? Did they set them up in a way that would have been hard to defend against? Did that character use their unique/individual fighting style, or 'X-factor' to their best advantage? Did they use their known written powers in such a way that they normally wouldn't use them? Did someone feel out-of-character? Who controlled the battle? Who was more dominant with how the flow of battle went against the other? Did a character seem to be reacting to attacks more than being the one to inflict them? Did one player keep the other on their toes more than the other? Did one character seemed more defensive, calm and collected than the other? Did one person execute an ingenious strategy to win? Did one character identify the other's weaknesses or use their opponent's strength against them? Did a character start at a loss, only to turn it around and gain the flow and control of the battle in their favor? Did a character seem to just use attacks and throw them at the opponent, or used them in a way that was hard for the opponent to fight/defend/counter against? Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: How well did the member write and describe their actions and surroundings. This also includes if a character did not explain themselves or were not justified in their movements or dodging. Key Points:- Stayed In-Character
- Easy to Understand
- Overall fairness
Questions to ask yourself: Did they justify certain movements and their character's fight style? Whether their post was short or long, where they able to explain their actions to the reader and get their point across? Did you question any actions or abilities a character did make? How well did you understand their writing? Did they dodge an attack that should have otherwise harmed them? Did they ignore or shrugged off attacks or write that the attacks had no effect on them? Did they seem to know something about their opponent that otherwise their character wouldn't know? Did a character do something you felt was not fair or use a power not listed/misuse a power listed on their application? Who had the best sportsmanship, and was fair to the other team in taking damage? Did someone take a hit that they probably could have dodged? Did a team take hits that they knew they couldn't dodge realistically? I'd be lying if I said this one was easy to judge... Mostly because no actual face-offs happened, no fighting, no colorful (pun intended) antics actually completed. But here goes! Damage Inflicted and Taken: In terms of damage inflicted, no one was hurt. There was no fighting. Howeverrrrr... I can say that in terms of dialogue "damage" dealt, there was a winner. Locke and Edgar were a tour de force in harshing Cloud for bringing Marlene into a combat tourney, even if a fair bit of it was either to themselves in internal! It was very amusing to see the spiky-haired protagonist get judged for what is undoubtedly an irresponsible decision as an adult. It was quite a ride, with Locke and Edgar showing some interesting insights into some things you rarely think about from their game, especially involving Relm. Hat's off to them there! [******Locke/Edgar******] Skill and Style: Well, since no fighting was actually done here, and I can't use the dialogue to determine too much in this category. So I kinda have to, erm... Leave it a draw? [******Draw******] Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: Here is where my little review process is doing most of the work! This is the one thing this thread had in spades as far as a combat tournament should go! And as with the last time I reviewed a thread for Locke and Edgar, they did very well here. And as with the last Cloud and Marlene tourney review, Marlene was also on point. Cloud had some good moments of fun, interesting character bits as well, which is a welcome step up from the bittersweet taste of the last round's review. Everyone did very well here, and we got to see a lot of confusion and--inner conflict? no, no, that's not quite it, but it's close!--from all parties of good guys or good guy-adjacent people about a child being present. We got some entertaining notions about a coloring battle, some ideas on a real battle, and an overall enjoyable spectacle even if it didn't actually end up with any fighting. [******Locke/Edgar******] EXTRA NOTES: Thinking purely about how this thread would play out if it had continued, I think it would have been close to a draw, but leaving Locke and Edgar with a slight advantage due to numbers. In his analysis of himself, Edgar gave a pretty good look at the limitations he'd have in a fight like this, so I believe he would have lost in a straight battle against Cloud with his abilities so limited. However... I believe Locke would color circles around Marlene! He's a thief with nimble fingers, and an adult to boot. A kid just can't compare! Plus if Marlene did do better, Locke could just swipe the art. So then, we get down to Cloud and Locke, theoretically. With Cloud having faced Edgar already, I believe Locke would have had the advantage here, and hence why I believe Locke and Edgar would take it overall. Match Winner: *****Locke/Edgar******

Well, this one is...Something. I'm not sure how to really put a proper review to some of the sections here, but I'll give it my best shot. Damage Inflicted and Taken: Because there wasn't...Actually any real damage given out here, I'll give my best to give a reasoning behind my choice regardless. Seeing Edgar and Locke's pride essentially rendered to shambles due to facing off against a mere child, and subsequently having to switch the flow of combat to...Color pictures only pushed this damage to pride even further. And then there was Cloud, who thoroughly showed the Arena floor who was boss by stabbing his blades in it not once, but twice, describing actual damage to the concrete under their feet was the only PHYSICAL damage in this entire thread.
On top of this, Cloud's constant preparedness for combat since they entered the arena proper left him with a definite combat dominant presence, with his readying of blades and constant thought on what it would take in order to protect Marlene while fighting. It's for these two reasons I have to give them the win in this category.
[******Cloud/Marlene******] Skill and Style: Another difficult one, but both Edgar and Locke showed a very nice and amusing style going on the entire time. it was a hard pick between Cloud's descriptive nature of his weapon preparation, Marlene's clear hesitance of how her weakness affected Cloud, and Edgar and Locke's descriptive listing off of their own weaknesses and strengths. But ultimately I have to choose Edgar and Locke.
They both wrote out their strategies quite well; what they were going to do and how they intended to try and win, like Locke using his map drawing skills as a strength to give him an edge at drawing, and Edgar's lance being used to take into account the reach of Cloud's sword. As well as their weaknesses, such as some of Edgar's stronger attacks being too risky with a child around, and Locke's reluctance to stop fighting for a coloring contest alongside his uncertainty in what was considered a better end result. It's because of this, and the fact that Edgar's reluctance to use weapons that could put his ally and an innocent person in danger feeling very in-character that I have to give them the win in this category.
[******Edgar/Locke******] Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: Again, this is one where I feel both would have won, Cloud described his actions regarding his weapons very well. Even listing off what he was doing with his swords below the meat of the post, and both he and Marlene displayed a level of sportsmanship I appreciated. and Edgar and Locke were the ones on the receiving end of the innocent child shenanigans, it's just very hard to choose an absolute winner here. Having been around mostly RP forums that get super competitive, someone potentially giving up a chance to win in order to play along and write out a fun story is something I DEEPLY respect. They all chose to have fun instead of going straight for a victory, and - Beyond a few missed words here and there were absolutely no strangers to understandable writing. As far as I witnessed from this short exchange, they also stayed well within character. Ultimately since I can only really choose one though, I have to give this one to Cloud and Mar. Their dynamic of child and caretaker is absolutely adorable and played out in a way that's understandable and feels very in-character. This duo definitely shines together.
[******Cloud/Marlene******] Match Winner: ***** Cloud/Marlene ****** Ultimately, I have to give the match victory to Cloud and Marlene, not because the other side did poorly, but because Cloud showed a strong dominance before combat even began, though he would certainly end up fighting two people back to back, I feel despite his assurance to Marlene that he could handle them, she would still use her toys to trip up his opponents after the whole "coloring tournament" was over. Cloud's deep focus in combat, and his plethora of weapons would lead him to victory against Edgar, and though Locke would be fresh from...uh, coloring, depending on how quickly the actual first fight played out, Cloud would likely have time to prepare himself.
As for who would win the coloring tournament. I uh...I don't really have a concrete answer for something like that? But Locke definitely has an edge due to experience with similar things, so I'd actually like to see this play out.

Damage Inflicted and Taken: There was not much combat here and what little we were shown seemed fairly even. Both Cloud and Edgar seemed fairly evenly matched and the prominent damage to public image aside there's not much to rule on here. Marlene made excellent use of her equipment by bringing her own crayons to a drawing contest and sharing. Locke was ill prepared. I have to give the edge here to Edgar and Locke however, as their combined damage output would undoubtedly be higher and they controlled the structure of the match, getting Marlene out of harm's way when her partner was all set to keep her in the square. [******Edgar/Locke******] Skill and Style: Cloud and Marlene each had the edge in this category. Cloud was well equipped for one on one combat and had the tools necessary to be an effective combatant in the circumstances, while Edgar floundered slightly without support and could not use roughly half of his talents. Marlene made excellent use of her skills as a little girl and made great headway in the coloring contest, taking the lead with a black mage while Locke was still experimenting with color and forming a battle plan. [******Cloud/Marlene******] Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: I have to give this category to Edgar and Locke. Cloud's writing felt dry, slightly repetitive, and not particularly engaging up until the start of combat, which was too brief to save him in this respect. Marlene was somewhat better in this regard, and I found myself invested in her emotions. Edgar and Locke both came in strong with Edgar acknowledging a world outside the four competitors right out of the gate and helping to flesh out the scene, and with Locke establishing a playful report with his partner that was a fun addition, while also not being afraid to experiment with colored wax.
Where the scale really tips however, has to be in the sportsmanship category. It's dirty to bring a child into a tournament like this. Either you're handicapping your opponents right out of the gate or you're putting the child in danger, there is no middle ground, I have to give a demerit. The saving Grace here is that Marlene colored fair and square and didn't withhold any supplies from her competitor. [******Edgar/Locke******] Match Winner: ***** Edgar/Locke ******

Damage Inflicted and Taken: Well, there wasn't much of a fight here before the match ended, sadly. But you could tell that neither Edgar or Locke really wanted to fight a kid, that was quite the blow to their pride. We did see the beginnings of a fight, but still, no real damage that took place for either combatant. The closest we get to it is Marlene's idea to enter the tournament proving so devastating to Edgar and Locke, and Cloud damaging the floor with this sword. So... Congratulations to Cloud and Marlene! [******Damage Taken: Edgar & Locke - Damage Inflicted: Cloud & Marlene******] Skill and Style: Edgar seemed very much aware of the fact that his various tools and skills could prove dangerous to Marlene, and knowingly restricted himself in order to not take that risk, even if it would give him a disadvantage against Cloud. Cloud, on the other hand, has a repertoire of skills he could readily make use of, and I think he could pull off the win in this 1v1 bout. For Locke vs Marlene... Tougher call. There's no doubt that Locke would have some actual artistic skill due to drawing maps, but a coloring contest isn't exactly in his field of expertise. Plus let's be honest here, he isn't going to try and steal Marlene's coloring tools. You think he'd risk making her cry? Naaah. Jokes aside, it's honestly a tough call that is made even harder by the fact that the match ended so prematurely. But I think I'll give the point to Cloud and Marlene. [******Winner: Cloud & Marlene******] Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: Everyone stayed perfectly in character, and all of the writing was perfectly legible and easy to understand. I will give points to Edgar and Locke operating out of a sense of fairness to Marlene, a little girl with no combat skills. But I also respect that Cloud believes he could protect Marlene from both fighters if it came down to it. And heck, Marlene herself was going to help out as much as she could. It's pretty hard to decide on, but I will give favor to the sportsmanship that Edgar and Locke showed! [******Winner: Edgar & Locke******] Match Winner: ***** Cloud & Marlene ******

Damage Inflicted and Taken: Its been said alot but yeah there really wasn't much fighting going on at all really and it was difficult to judge. That being said I am going to give it to Cloud and Marlene however because Cloud's blade beam did manage to make some contact with Edgar. Though the damage was minimal damage and the fact that we don't know if Edgar's counter attack hit or not, it was still some damage regardless. [******Cloud & Marlene******] Skill and Style: While the two opponents did not really get to fight much I have to give the Cloud and Edgar praise for at least thinking about lowering AOE moves so Marlene and Locke didn't get hit. I will give this section to Edgar and Locke however as I am impressed by Edgar's counter maneuver to the blade beam and the usage of bolt. [******Edgar & Locke******] Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: Both sides were in character and as much as I love the fact that Cloud brought a little child as his partner in a fighting tournament, I have to put that as a negative for this fight. In the end Edgar and Locke showed much better sportmanship as they absolutely had no obligation to comply to Cloud's suggestion. While it would have been out of character for them to do so,the two could have easily begun to attack Cloud and despite how skilled Cloud was I doubt he would be able to deal with both at the same time while also protecting Marlene. [******Edgar & Locke******] Match Winner: ***** Edgar & Locke ******
