a falling star fell from your heart. The spell had more than crushed much of the front line forces, but more were still coming. Tifa hadn't seen an advance like this since the battle for Hollow Bastion. Still, it was always a saving grace to have capable allies. With Ramza having saved her, she looked over towards him with a blank expression, her face a bit red as she then shook it off with a nod of her head. Yet, her attention soon would turn towards the woman, stating her plan of them gaining the high ground. Looking over in the direction she had indicated, Tifa would then give her approving nod, bracing herself as she followed the female knight towards the swarm.
Charging in wards, the woman would jump while Tifa continued to plow through. Her body swaying from one side to the next, she helped to clear the path for her and Ramza, fist remaining on fire. The added boost given by the male had more than aided her as well, soon causing her body to spin as she would pierce through the horde with a spiraling kick that managed to punch a hole through. Racing up the stairs, she would note the woman keeping watch for their passage, soon jumping up upon the rising platform, landing within a three point stance as she waited for the others to follow. Keeping up with the group, Tifa would make yet another leap of faith, this time getting up to the next place of land, as she looked down to see the heartless starting to bunch and spread out. It would be more of a challenge for them now, yet they could maintain their position better than before.
Looking over at her allies in this fight, the dark haired woman would release a breath before holding her ground on her edge.
"Yea...No giving up!"

Location: Traverse Town - Second District Mood: Furious Status: Minor Injuries The battle for their lives continued. Ramza nodded in aknowledgement when Beatrix praised him for the previous attack. As the woman used Cure on them, restoring her strenght, Ramza was left in awe again - not only was she a fearsome fighter, but apparently also a decent mage. Adopting multiple fighting styles was common back in Ivalice, but mastering such different techniques required a lot of effort and time.
Beatrix quickly fell into her natural role: That of a leader. She pointed at the nearby stairs, commanding the rest of the group on how to maneauver and exploit them. Ramza, too, fell quickly in line, his instincts from the cadet days kicking in. Ramza was used to lead, but he also knew how to be led.
The whole team had their speed boosted, either by Ramza's Tailwind or his Shout on himself; as such, getting up to the platform indicated by Beatrix was reasonably trivial. Although Ramza was not as nimble as the other two, neither could he jump as high as them, a single Rush did the job well enough.
On top of the platform, he quickly positioned himself in one edge, as the Heartless crawled through the walls in an attempt to reach the three warriors. Shouting again to renew his own might, Ramza started slashing and thrusting, enjoying the height and positioning advantage. Beatrix's strategy was brilliant - indeed, the creatures were not very smart, and kept rushing despite being in a disadvantageous position. They kept flowing, ripe for the killing - and killed they were, by the combined efforts of the three fighters. ------------------------------

As the battle raged on, Blaise had slipped through the courtyard. He clambered up the metal ladder leading to the far side of the Gizmo Shop beneath the clock-tower. The sorcerer flipped though his notes, comparing the architecture to the sketches he’d been given. A World’s Heart could only be accessed in an annoyingly specific manner. Though Blaise’s purpose now had a time limit, the risk of falling into Darkness again was terrifying enough to forestall rushing things. In truth Blaise had no idea how long he’d walked in the Dark World, chasing after the phantoms of his clan-mates. Time did not seem to exist there, not in the linear sense anyway. Even after escaping the place still haunted you, lingering at the edge of unguarded thoughts and nights where sleep didn’t come quickly enough. One by one what was left of Blaise’s clan had succumbed to strange inner sickness, a morbid nihilism accompanied by golden jaundice of the eyes. How could words even begin to do justice to that tenebrous abyss? How could one describe to others those violaceous skies alight with scintillating auroras and entire galaxies snatched from the worlds above? When you’ve spent what felt like decades walking through vast sepulchral cities, twisted parodies of home that evoked just enough hope to hurt, how can you explain why a quiet evening stroll brings on a cold sweat? Can well-meaning platitudes of hope ever bring more then a pained grimace when you’ve looked upon the terrible truth with your own eyes? How does one “do normal” again? Yeah, Blaise’d tried faking it for a while, they all did. It worked for a bit, drowning memory in the grindstone of danger and diversion. But the brutal fact was that the fall into Darkness is inevitable. There was no hope, but there could be solace, a brief forestallment in which to cherish what we loved. We’re all rats on a sinking ship, why not take what Light you can from the doomed? If other Worlds needed to fade so that Ivalice might thrive? So be it. @tifa Ramza Beoulve @generalbeatrix Durations: Last post for Mighty Guard
1) Blaise proceeds to go through the process of seeking out Traverse Town's keyhole in the Second District, keeping an eye on the battle.

Strange new worlds and the war within them. The high ground had given them the advantage of height and direction. The Heartless seemed capable of merging with the flat surfaces and moving at tremendous speeds to get where they needed to go though. That meant that the wall behind them was, still, a place for the creatures to emerge from. But one of the three would surely see the single creature or grouping attempting to flank them and would move to cover. The advantage was their’s, at least for the moment. Beatrix had been impressed by her two allies as they had made a mad dash for the leaping point. The long-haired woman had practically punched her way through the swarm, her fists clashing against abhorrent armor and knocking the creatures away. Ramza followed after her, leaping across the gap with less nimbleness but using some magical technique to practically float across the distance. Once there, the three of them set up their positions.
Beatrix, on her side, slashed her sword quick and clean, making sure to hit with enough strength to knock the Heartless monsters back and daze them. She waited carefully between strokes, each swipe as precise as a surgeon making an incision. She waited until they began to cluster together near the lip, a group of five of them wanting nothing more than to claw at her feet and pull her down into their dark pool. It was then that her blade began to hum loudly, a bright white glow emerging from its core. She swung the blade down and slammed the sharp edge into the center of the swarm, easily cleaving through the air and divorcing the creature’s body from itself. But the energy built up exploded outwards, the Stock Break tearing through the four other creatures and rendering them into fading and useless smoke.
These Heartless creatures were unlike anything she had fought before. They left no bodies, oozed no plasma and moved with almost unintelligible design. These Shadows were nothing but pawns, she concluded – mere foot soldiers meant to outweigh the competition with numbers rather than strength. Were they the instrument of that mage’s forces or merely a useful ally for him? Questions that she intended to ask him once they broke through this mass and tracked him down. Her hand tightened around her handle and she resumed her defense, bolstering up her magic again so that she may wipe out her enemies en masse.

a falling star fell from your heart. No giving up...
It was an easier statement to say when they were now much closer to victory at this point. Despite being a stranger, the woman was a far more capable leader than Tifa had realized. Her direction had more than given them this fight, and all points were being looked after by the trio as they held their ground. While they were still fighting against the odds, it hardly mattered when talent and ability was involved. As more began leaping up to meet them, each of the warriors would fend them off. Tifa was no different, her fist slamming from one side to the next, ending with her slamming the front of her foot against the chest of one of the beasts, sending it flipping backwards towards the ground.
With each foe seeming to ooze over into nothing, hearts continued to rise up into the sky, releasing them from their black prison as the group kept up their efforts.

Location: Traverse Town - Second District Mood: Relieved, Grateful Status: Light Injuries The fight didn't go much longer. They had the higher ground, literally and figuratively, and the mindless beasts rushed forward to be killed. Enhanced by Shout, and covered by his allies, Ramza was more than capable of taking them on. As strange as those creatures were, they fell to a blade as much as any other.
And, finally, after a few more minutes of frantic struggles, of dodges and parries, of slashes and thrusts, it was over. The horde had been anihilated. Sighing, Ramza allowed himself to fall sitting in the floor, trying to catch his breath. "Miladies, I own my life to thee" He said, catching her breath. "Thank you for aiding me." He then turned to Tifa. "From what I gathered, you are a natural from here, is that correct?" ------------------------------

The clocktower’s long tolling echoed across the district, resounding along eves and traveling from feet to toes to spine. While the great bonging was itself unpleasant, the Second District’s near abandonment gave it an lonely air. Dimmed out apartment windows and flickering market signs revealed no movement visible beyond the trio, urbanity slipping into slumber without the trivial traffic and small exchanges of breath and goods that gave civilization a pulse. The clock’s toll was like the cry of a child calling out for their parents but receiving no answer in return. A glance up at the clock revealed that there was no particular hour being announced, the result of either malfunction or purposeful interference. As if the sound were both signal and a match upon gasoline, the waters of the fountain ignited with no seeming provocation. Unnatural violent flames roared to life in dark tongues that licked the monument's stones before engulfing the edifice completely in a lilac bonfire that cast long shadows over the shopfronts and plain sheer stairs. Yet there was no smell of char, blackening of stone, or even palpable heat. The water continued burning in its peculiar fashion even after the clocktower had ceased chiming, With the passing of time the grinding of stone upon stone would be heard. The carvings upon the fountain turned according to some hidden mechanism, violet fire and clockwork worked together to change the murals and stonework into an entirely different pattern before falling silent. @tifa Ramza Beoulve @generalbeatrix 1. Blaise rings the bells once in accordance with the ritual for opening the Traverse Town Keyhole (super sorry for the delay, totally dropped the ball there)
