Tidus can be described as someone who really only cares for himself. He is someone whom wants to prove his worth to the world and be bigger than he really is. One to get a bit carried away he is easily grounded by his friends and the loyalty he shows to them. This doesn’t mean he isn’t one to make mistakes and let his emotions get the better of though. He is known to shout and deny things that mean seem true if it gets a little under his skin. Still he is a kind individual who cares for his friends and will do anything to protect them.

FFX:

Tidus was born and raised in the ancient city of Zanarkand. His father, Jecht, was a famous blitzball player which had him being away constantly. This caused Tidus to resent his father and to act out to try to get his attention. He would constantly be teased by his father, though he always took as him being mean, causing him to vow to be a better player and person than him, when his father disappeared though pressure began to build on Tidus. The people of Zanarkand began to praise his father’s skills as a blitzball players cause Tidus to thirst to prove himself as his equal or to some extent even his better. One year during a tournament, that which was in dedication to his father, the creature known as Sin attacked the city leaving it in ruins and taking Tidus to another time.



When Tidus comes to he finds himself floating in the water near the ruins of some sort of building. He swims his way to a platform and follows the path that ends up breaking beneath him. He ends up in a battle against a skeletal fish and after defeating it he swims to and underwater entrance to the building. Once inside he builds himself a fire to keep warm from the damp. Despite the fire he is chilled to the bone and hungry. Eventually he comes face to face with a monster and is rescued by this girl in a wet suit. She knocks him out and takes him back to their ship where he is forced into labor for his rescue. Then end up finding a ship underwater and activate it causing another monster to awaken. After defeating that creature they return to their ship only for sin to appear and take Tidus away once more.



This time his destination is a lot brighter in color. In contrast to the somber skies of the ruins this island is just cheery looking. He was greeted with a blitzball and a group of people waving at him. His player instincts activate and he launches the ball far off into the island. He is approached by the group and after having to tell them he was from Zanarkand he remembers the words of the girl from earlier. Tidus quickly covers himself by saying he was too close to sin’s toxins and they group of men seem to understand him and pray for him. He follows the leader of the group, named Wakka, and eventually ends up in besaid village. After spending some time exploring the town he overhears that the summoner has been in the temple a bit longer than anticipated and his hero side kicks in. Despite some protest from a priest he rushes into the temple.



When he arrives in the chamber of the fayth he is told by Wakka that only summoners and their guardians are allowed in this part of the temple. To his luck he was in time to see the summoner complete the ceremony and leave the fayth and finds himself in awe of the girl. She begins to collapse and Tidus attempts to run to her, but a big blue rhino looking man gets there before him. They leave the temple and Tidus is taken to Wakka’s place where he spends the night. He has a dream about his father and awakens suddenly from it. He then hears some voices outside the hut and overhears Lulu berating Wakka about only caring for Tidus because of his appearance being similar to that of his brother Chappu. When Tidus confronts Wakka about this the next day he is told his brother had died while in service to the crusaders. He is then given Chappu’s old sword by Wakka to use on the journey he would be taking with them. Though he wouldn’t be going on the pilgrimage Yuna and company would be taking he would be with them till they got to the city of Luca to see if they could find someone he knows. Tidus doubted this if his home was in fact destroyed 1000 years ago, but agreed to it anyways.



They ended up taking a boat that would lead to a place called Kilika first so Yuna could pray at that temple. Tidus was able to get a conversation going with the young summoner whom told him she believed his story about being from Zanarkand. Tidus was surprised and pleased by this, but questioned why. She told him it was because a man told her the same story when she was younger. This man was a guardian of her father’s and his name was Jecht. Tidus was very much confused by this thinking it was his father and told her thus. He explained that he disappeared ten years ago from his life to which she said that’s when he arrived in her life. Even more surprised Tidus tries to responded, but his words and actions were interrupted by an attack from Sin.



After a long and intense battle they arrive at Kilika only to find it destroyed. The wood and bodies cover the shore and waters leaving it quite a dreary place. Tidus first learned of what a summoner truly was while watching Yuna preforms a sending. He was explained about this by Lulu and he begins to realize how sad this hob might be for Yuna. Still he pushes his thoughts away to continue the mission to Luca. After Yuna prays in the temple at kilika they head off to Luca where the annual Blitzball tournament is awaiting.



He finds out that Wakka basically forced Tidus into joining the Besaid Aurochs. He takes up the job as it meant he could play once more, but he gets slightly discouraged that their team is the butt of everyone’s jokes. Being a part of a team that had a thirty three year losing streak made the team’s moral quite low, but with Tidus’ encouragement he hoped to drive them to a win and increase their confidence. It turns out the tournament has a commencement ceremony to it to appoint a successor for maester of the group of people known as guado. Tidus sees the man and doesn’t like the look of him feeling something off, but is unsure of what it is and dismisses his thoughts. The thoughts get even more pushed back in this brain when yuna tells him that she heard a rumor of someone seeing Auron somewhere in luca. Tidus is almost a little too eager to see if this rumor is true and begins a search for him. While searching for Auron, Yuna gets kidnapped by a group of players to force the Besaid Aurochs to forfeit their match. Tidus, with the help of Lulu and Kimahri, rescue Yuna and learn about her heritage. Lulu tells Tidus to keep it a secret from Wakka as he doesn’t approve of Al-Bhed.



As the tournament comes to a close with the Aurochs win over the Luca Goers the stadium comes under attack by fiends. Tidus, along with Wakka, help defend the stadium only for it to be cleared out by Seymour. Tidus still didn’t like the guy, but he had to admit the fact he took care of all the fiends so quickly was at least somewhat respectable. Tidus ends up running into Auron during the confusion from the fiends and he gets dragged along by the older gentleman. The two end up talking and Auron tells Tidus that sin is in fact his father jecht. Tidus refuses to believe such a creature could be his father and ends up fully joining Yuna’s pilgrimage as a guardian along with Auron. The young blonde only agrees to this because at the end of the pilgrimage they would end up in zanarkand and he would be home once more.



After leaving Lua they make their way through Mi’ihen Highroad where they battle a chocobo eater. Afterwards they find their path blocked by the crusaders because of a mission going on in the next area. The mission was called operation Mi’ihen where the crusaders would work with the al-bhed to defeat sin. They are only let through by Maester Seymour’s influence to watch the supposed defeat of sin with their machine cannon. Sadly things turn sour as sin decimates the cannon and the beach side. As sin begins to leave Tidus chases after it hallucinating it is his father before collapsing into the shore. When he comes to see sees Yuna once again sending off the souls of all those people who have perished from the battle. Tidus finds Auron who reiterates that sin is his father and that the only reason he was there was to see Tidus and show him that he needed to be destroyed. They continue to their next destination of Djose Temple where Yuna prays in the faith again and then they are off to the moonflow.



At first it seemed this section of the pilgrimage would be nice and easy, but once they got on the shoopuf to cross the river they are ambushed by a machine. Tidus and Wakka jump in to save her and after defeating the machine the return to land to continue their journey. This time though they have a new member to their party. The member goes by the name of Rikku an al-bhed girl, which Tidus met previously, though they keep her heritage secret from Wakka and continue to their next destination of Guadosalam.



They find that Guadosalam is the living place of Seymour Guado and are invited to his home. They go inside and the maester shows them a recording of zanarkand to which Tidus is in awe of as it shows his former home. Seymour then tells them the story of the first summoner, yunalesca, and how her bond with her husband is how they defeated sin. After this the man proposes to Yuna which shocks Tidus and angers him slightly. Yuna says she needs time to decide and they all visit the farplane to talk to their departed. When his father doesn’t show up he realizes what Auron said was true and that he was indeed sin. Yuna also realizes Jecht is alive and tries to encourage Tidus on this which makes him feel awkward knowing about his father’s real identity. Tidus then sees his mother and he begins to realize his hate for his father was because he felt his mother loved her father more than himself. As they begin to leave one of the ghosts appears as if trying to leave the farplane and Yuna sends them leaving behind nothing but a sphere she picks up.



The next area they reach is called the Thunder Plains. Rikku is scared of this area as she is afraid of thunder. Still they make it to the halfway point of the plains and take a rest at the travel agency. As Tidus is wondering the halls he hears a voice coming from Yuna’s room. This voice was male and he attempts to listen in by leaning on the door. He falls through the open door and sees Yuna viewing the sphere she had gotten earlier. After being explained what the sphere was Yuna tells Tidus she decided to marry Seymour and that they would be heading to macalania temple next. Once at the temple they discover that Seymour had murdered his father to become maester, but Yuna decides she would play the middle ground of this commotion and says she will marry Seymour on the condition he turns himself in. Seymour attacks them and they are forced into battle in which they kill the maester and before Yuna can send him he is taken away by the guado and they accuse them of being traitors. They try to outrun the guado only to be saved by sin that washes them up in Bikanel Island.



The group eventually gathers together to find that Yuna is the only one missing from their entourage. With Rikku’s help they get out of the harsh desert and find themselves in the al-bhed’s home. Sadly the city is in disarray from guado attacks. While traversing the sanctuary they come across other summoners whom were taken by the al-bhed. Sadly Yuna isn’t a part of those summoners so they had to continue looking. Tidus finds out during this search that the final summoning causes the summoner to die and that was why the al-bhed were capturing the summoners. They didn’t have much time to really look anymore as a big explosion was imminent at the sanctuary so they boarded an airship, the one tidus and rikku had found underwater previously, This is where they meat Cid, Rikku’s father and Yuna’s uncle, and they find out that Yuna is in Bevelle being forced to marry Seymour. So they fly towards the city to crash it.



When they get to Bevelle they find the wedding in full swing and make their way down to intercept it. They do well at first, but then they are surrounded and threated with execution. Yuna ends up saving them by jumping off the building and summoning one of her aeons and retreating to the temple. Still they are incarnated and sent to the dungeons in via purifico. After some fighting with some friends underwater Tidus is reunited with the rest of the party and have to battle their way through many people to get out of the dungeons. Eventually they have to also face Seymour himself. He reveals his plan to use Yuna for him to become the next sin in order to destroy spira thus cleansing it. After defeating him the group retreats to macalania woods where yuna is noticeably shaken and heads to a lake to calm herself. Tidus follows Yuna and apologizes for knowing the result of sin and talking to Yuna about life after defeating it. He attempts to convince her to abandon her journey and when she decides to continue with it he vows to find a way to protect her from her supposed fate.



They make it to Mt Gagazet they find themselves facing Seymour again and after a difficult battle they head up even farther into the mountain. They eventually come across a fayth scar which somehow affects Tidus causing him to pass out. In his dreams he find himself back at the zarankand he once knew. He is greeted by a boy which he finds out is a fayth. This boy tells him that Tidus, Jecht, and his Zarankand are just dreams created by the fayth. They were created after the original city had been destroyed and kept alive by the dreaming fayths. Requesting Tidus to destroy sin once and for all and letting them free themselves from their dreams. This would of course mean Tidus himself would disappear. When Tidus awakens from this dream he decides to this newly found knowledge a secret from the group not wanting them to worry about him.



The group then makes it to zarankand and they camp just outside the ruins. Pyreflies are abundant in this area where the group gets visions of past events that have happened here such as braska and Seymour’s pilgrimages. They reach the dome and encounter yunalesca who is an unsent that grants the power of the final aeon in which they need to destroy sin. When she explains what the final aeon is and what it does the group comes to a standstill as Yuna refuses to sacrifice any of her friends to become the next sin. The group then gets a vision of braska and auron’s death along with jecht’s transformation into sin. Auron rallies the group to fight and they face off against yunalesca whom had become irritable at the group not wanting to follow the rules of the pilgrimage. After they defeat yunalesca they head back to cid’s airship to make their next move.



Their goal now becomes to defeat the final aeon so yu yevon can become vulnerable to fully be defeated and sin would be no longer. They attempt to enter sin, but have an obstacle before doing that in the name of Seymour guado. They face off against him once more and send the man finally. Once inside they are able to reach the final aeon which takes a form similar to that of jecht. The group rallies together to defeat the aeon releasing jecht from yu yevon’s grasp. Still they weren’t done with their battles as now they had to defeat each and every aeon that Yuna had collected along the way. After the long and tedious battles they have one last one against yu yevon itself. Tidus reveals to the group once they defeat it he will disappear. He apologizes to them all for keeping it a secret to them and says this is his story and he will end it on his terms. After the battle Yuna begins her sending to release the aeons from their dreams and to free the world of sin forever. This in turn causes both Tidus and Auron to be sent. Tidus begins to fade and after sharing an embrace with Yuna, to which no physical touch was available since he became more of an apparition at that point, he jumps off the airship to finally be at rest.

Tidus awakens from his dream and finds himself sweating. He questions himself on how vivid that dream was and how he could remember every last detail. Was it even a dream? He looks at his child body and shakes his head. There was no way it could have been real as he was a lot older in the dream than he really was. Still he couldn’t get the girl’s face out of his mind. He returns to the island where he and his friends hung out and ends up in a fun sword duel with Sora. Though he is soundly defeated by his friend he laughs about it and continues to play around the island. Last that night the world is covered with darkness and Tidus finds himself disappearing from the world. After Sora saves the worlds he returns to the island with almost no recollection of the island disappearing and returns to his daily life. As time flies by he and wakka enjoy playing ball with each other and island life tends to wane a bit more. As the kids are all in school now though with Sora and Riku missing some things weren’t the same.



FF X-2:

As his body stirs, under the cool water, Tidus stretches as if he had been taking a long nap. He looks up and begins to swim as hard as he can with a smile upon his face. He breaches the surface of the water and he finds himself close to that familiar shore he had seen before. He was back at Besaid. An airship flies over him and he is in awe of how cool looking the ship was, but what really made him smile even more was the familiar face that jumped off it. There she was again, the summoner whom he saved from her horrible fate, happy to see him. Though she looked different he couldn’t help but embrace the young woman. He was truly back to the place he could finally call home.

The sound of rushing water and echoing cheers was such a relaxing sound for this young blitzballer. Eyes closed he began to reflect. I will win this and surpass my useless father and everyone will know my name. I will become the most famous blitzball player in all of zanarkand. Time was getting closer to the start of the match as each drip of water echoed through the player’s waiting area. The young blonde’s feet soaked in the shallow water waiting to prove their prowess in the sphere. I need to remember to do that victory pose for those two girls when we win



He took a deep breath and opened his eyes. The match was going to start soon. As the sphere that would make the arena began to spin he stood on a platform with a blitzball in hand listening to the cheers of his fans. As the electricity of the machinia crackled he stepped back slightly at the burst of energy though ultimately unfazed by it as he heard a few yelps from the crowd. Now was the time for the game to start and Tidus jumped into the water with his team. They swam quickly for the ball and began their attack. Dodging the opposing team they held on to the ball and passed to each other down the pitch. Seeing a weakness in one of the players Tidus made a decision to knock the player out of the sphere putting them out of commission for a short period. He watched as their body flew into the stands and gave a smirk as the audience cheered and whistled for the young man.



Soon after they scored the first goal of the match and the roar of the crowd echoed into their hearts. Taking the adrenaline from this the team threw the ball into the air out of the top of the sphere play area where Tidus swam up and breached the water’s surface. Attempting a bicycle kick on the ball he outstretched his arms during its arc for dramatic flair only to see a giant water sphere like creature shooting projectiles towards the stadium. He watched as building began to explode from the projectiles as if they were sliced apart like paper. As building began to crash into the sea the resulting splashes caused water to flood the city streets. In an attempt to save himself he adjusted himself mid-fall and latched onto the top of the machine that created their playing area. Holding on for his life he hoped to be able to climb up onto the safe zone only to lose his grip from the water on his gloves and the explosions from the crumbling stadium.
