Zidane had been on the passage between the cockpit and the main entry. The teleporter had been working before, but something happened that forced it to shut down. Since he arrived near this place Invincible had been acting strange, and not in the way most airship pilots would insist that their precious ships were out of sorts with their parts or service. As Mogrid likely noticed the ship was, in many ways, alive. Zidane had impatiently waited. The rogue moved toward the circular platform and stood with arms crossed as he tapped his foot. He had been scratching his head at the ship's issue. It hadn't acted this strangely since his embarrassing slip-up at the Ilfa tree. In some ways he was remiss to really admit to the sentience the ship occasionally showed as it was a bit creepy that it ran on what was possibly the remnant souls of Terra.
As he tapped his toes away on the platform it would suddenly light up, Zidane blinking and letting out a shout as the ship teleported him, not down below where the landing would be normally: but atop its hull. It knew well not to jettison its own crew into the bottomless sea below. The waterfall that rushed over the side of the Pharos was thought, by many, to have no end so were one to be cast down its falls they would never find the bottom. Some say it was a portal to the Gates of the Gods, but they had long since abandoned Ivalice, leaving them with the Pharos as compensation. Though some would question the cost of such!
Zidane felt gravity pull at his body as the teleportation completed. The rogue shifted his weight, lowering himself to a crouch as he felt his body relax in the better known sensation. Though it was something he would never be completely at ease with he could at least assure himself it wouldn't rip him apart and send him to different ends of the world! The nervous laugh that punctuated that thought caused him to rub at the back of his neck as he felt the hairs stand on end. Something was here causing them an issue. Particularly doing harm to Invincible! Mogrid would find himself teleported by Zidane at the ship's behest, the rogue taking a step back as it became quite visible as to what was causing the issues in the first place.
The stone walls of the Pharos were dug straight out of the mountain. The dense fog that seemed to infinitely flow from the surroundings waters created an environment roiling with creatures born of mist, corrupted by it, and subsumed by it. Clung to the wall of stone was a massive beast with ashen scales that were stained by moss and brittle from age. Twitching wings were decorated with fanned out fins that stabilized the beast in the lurching aether and crosswinds that more often than not sent airships to their demise, hurtling into the walls or sea below. Its long neck stretched and convulsed as it seemed to be eating, but instead of the prey that it normally hunted along the dangerous enviorns it had latched to the ship and tore into its hull like a parasite: feasting on the souls within in order to fuel its mist-ladened corruption.
It was an Aeronite: a deadly predatory dragon that stretched: nose to tail, feet and feet, breeching tons that rivaled even the healthiest Behemoth. At the movement atop its pedestal the Aeronite snapped its head in the direction of the Machinist and Rogue. Its jaws would part as it let out a threatening roar: spittle and mist spewing from its fang-filled jaw: the razor-like teeth curved back like a shark's. It looks to have used the horn at the end of its nose to break into the ship and its massive maw to siphon its mist. It slammed its wings against the ground, using them as makeshift forearms, before the usually aerial dragon slithered toward them with shocking speed: like an Croc rushing down an ice floe.
"Lookout!!" Zidane shouted as he jumped back.
