Father: Derrick Laruzo

Personality:
Nick likes to be generous, and honest as he possibly can be. He will rarely tell a lie when he is speaking with someone. Lying is barely an option to him. The generous part of him includes giving out food to anyone who needs it, and helping people with certain tasks. Doesn’t mind taking on jobs that require delivering mail to people, or cleaning something. It gives him something to occupy his mind for a while.
At times, he will act quite strangely for an individual. Two examples of this would be: randomly stepping to the left when in a conversation with someone, or just tapping his left hand with his fingers. Tends to mix up what he is saying at times. This doesn’t stop him from being able to work with others. However… he tends to go overboard with certain objectives that are given to him, or mess them up by mistake. He’s not very good at planning things out either, and usually requires assistance from others.
Two of his favorites food are fried shrimp and chocolate cake with vanilla frosting on the top. Doesn’t mind eating tuna fish sandwiches. On a warm summer day, he will enjoy a nice cup of iced tea. If it's winter however, hot orange tea will be had instead. For fun, he likes to punch the air. Pretending to fight someone.
History:
Nick was born in Traverse Town, in the First District. This had happened during the summer. He had his mother’s eyes, and his father’s brown curly hair. The parents were both known as Daria and Derrick Laruzo. His father told him that he should always be honest as he possibly can around people, even if the truth hurts. He concluded that lies should never be necessary, unless there is no choice. The first gift given to Nick was a red and black striped t-shirt that was crafted by his mother. She had made it ahead of time, just before he was born. Thinking it would be a perfect first gift.
At the age of five years old, he began to have a interest for fighting. This came from the times that he watched others practicing their fighting skills outside. He would pretend to punch the air, as if he was fighting someone. His mother was curious about he was doing, and found it a bit silly. She didn’t mind it though, as long as nobody got hurt. His father also noticed from his son that when he spoke to him, he would do awkward actions. Like sliding to the left, or just tapping his fingers. Found it strange, but didn’t seem to mind it. It wasn’t anything bad after all. His father would often whisper to himself “What is he doing? His actions are quite strange”.
When he was seven years old, Nick would often watch his mother giving out food to someone who needed it most. He wanted to do it as well. Seeing that her own son wanted to be generous as well, she allowed him to help her with giving out food, or delivering clothes that she makes for others. His father would take him on mail runs around the districts, whenever his son had nothing else to do. After all, his dad was a mailman. Honesty was his top priority when it came to delivering mail. He would be honest with any customers that are waiting to receive mail, or if any packages were damaged during delivery. Never would tell a lie. This is where Nick got his honesty from.
On his tenth birthday, Nick got a new pair of black shoes with white laces from his mother. He really loved those shoes. He liked the dark color on the base, and the clear white laces. Those shoes made him really happy, he liked this gift more than the others. Other gifts he got were mostly toys, and a new pair of jeans. He wears those shoes very often now. Other pairs of shoes are usually left to sit by the front door, untouched. Whenever he was tasked with doing chores at home, he would sometimes go overboard with what does. His mother once told him to pour one cup of flour into a pot for a cake, he instead pours two cups. He thought it would be a good idea at the time, but his mother didn’t approve it. She was quite disappointed, but forgiving in the end. His father remembers the moment that his own son messed up mail delivery by complete accident. This happened when his son mixed up some packages that were to be delivered to two different shops. One package was delivered to an accessory shop, but it was meant to be for another store. Of course, the father was disappointed at his son. He didn’t harshly punish him, but told him that he should be careful when handling packages, and delivering them. Getting the destination correct was the second most important rule to know for getting mail to others.
When he was now fifteen years of age, his father had noticed that his son was getting better at following instructions, and that his whole body structure had changed drastically as well. Nick used to have a very skinny body when he was only four years old, but now he had put on some weight. Enough to make him seem slim. His parents never really found out what was behind their child’s weird actions that he made during conversations, they just figured it was part of him. It was left at that. Sometimes, this young man would have strange dreams. Dreams of a dark figure speaking to him, whispering messages in his ears. Telling him that inside of his heart that there was a great power to be unlocked. He told his mother and father about the strange dreams he had been having lately, but they didn’t know what to say to him.
It has been four years now, Nick was now nineteen years old. He was nearing adulthood.
During the winter season, his mother and father told him that they would be on vacation in another world. Their bags were packed and ready to go. He asked when they would be coming back, they told him that they would be back in three months. His mother told him to be careful, and to keep the house safe when they were gone. Her son promised he would do just that. After they left to go on vacation, Nick decided that he would relax from doing chores for a while. Three months after his parents went on vacation, he received a letter in the mail. It was from his parents. The letter said that there was something happening at the time, and that they would hopefully return in the next couple of months. Nothing happened after that, he was not getting any more letters from his parents. This upset him a bit, because he was the only one in the house. All alone, by himself. He knew how to fend for himself, but he wished that his mother was back to make dinner like she used to. Most of his days were spent walking around Traverse Town, exploring all the districts for something to do. The dream he had when he fifteen had returned to him in his sleep, the same message was given. But, there was more this time. The dark figure told him that he must unlock the inside the power inside of his heart, by using the darkness that was within him. He questioned himself from time to time about darkness, eventually asking himself “Can darkness be used for the greater of all humanity? To save those who are dear to you?”

“Time for me to get myself out of bed, can’t sleep in all day… “
Nick got himself out of bed, and let out a big yawn as he headed towards his wooden dresser in the corner of the room. He got out a regular black and red striped t-shirt, and a pair of blue jeans. An outfit that is worn quite often, but changed up every other day. He walked out of his room, and down to the kitchen. His parents weren’t home, because they were still on vacation.
“I think I’ll go for a walk around town, there isn’t much to do at home either way. Maybe, I’ll stumble across something that is interesting in another district.”
Walking out from the house, the young man locked the front door on the way out. He carefully put the house key into his left pocket. Fully prepared, he headed out on his stroll. One of his ideas would be to the visit one of the shops. Anything to keep him occupied.
“All these accessories in this shop look wonderful, including this golden necklace. Such a shame I can’t buy anything at the moment.”
He took one last glance at a golden necklace that was on the shelf, then turned away to look at something else. Upon turning around, another item caught his interest. A silver heart pendant. This beautiful accessory was more expensive than the golden necklace. The young man could not afford to buy it. He only had enough funds to buy important necessities. With nothing else in mind, he made his small exodus out of the store. Heading back home for the evening.
