[attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] Ravus had not been on this world long. He had finally gotten a ship to travel the stars and of course he would start his search at the closest, which was this one. He already saw that it wasn't Eos when he flew over it, but he still landed to take a look around and maybe ask people about it. He had just entered the remains of a castle or town, he wasn't quiet sure what it was. Looking around, he soon realized that this place was empty most likely. He had gone the wrong way? How strange.. he usually has a better orientation. Maybe he knew that something was wrong with him, but he tried to shake it off, blaming it on the events of the past few days, sighing softly as he remembered what had happened in Radiant Garden. He had not slept well after THAT day. His artificial hand slowly closed into a fist. He shouldn't be thinking about it to much.... Ravus turned around to leave the grounds again, when a strange sensation moved through his body. A cold shiver ran down his spine... something wasn't right. Something about this place was.... yes, what was it? He could feel something strange radiating from it and the waves that ran down his spine made him shiver slightly. Ravus knew that feeling from a few days ago, but... but he wasn't hurt in any way! It couldn't trigger again! Ravus artificial arm started to shake without him wanting to, his other hand immediately moving out to grab it in hopes of holding it still. It was reacting to something.. the scourge. Ravus took in a few deep breaths, trying to keep it under control SOMEHOW. He had no idea what to do to stop it from taking over again. The black liquid started to sprout from it again, crawling up the metal to sink into his skin and get into his veins. Ravus groaned in pain, still holding a firm grip on the arm like he was trying to push what was coming out inside again. “Ardyn... you.. monster.. your curse couldn't be destroyed by my death?”, he growled, trying his best to keep his body together. Was he.. slowly losing control of his body again? Was the scourge eating away on him once more, taking over him the more days pass? That one transformation... could it have triggered for him to become this thing till he was slain forever? The royal shook his head, not going to back down. It had caught him by surprise last time but now his mind was wide awake to defend himself. He was hunched over, trying his best to keep his body from being infected more. "Is this.. how you want.. to continue torturing me?!"

| The Dark Knight’s lips remained firmly set in a scowl as he’d wondered aimlessly through empty corridors. Dieter’s right hand never once strayed away from the hilt of his blade, his fingers absent-mindedly stroking the well-worn leather – the subconscious gesture aided in abating his battle-honed paranoia. He’d paused abruptly, momentarily halting, uncertain if he’d actually heard something or if his mind was playing tricks on him. It wasn’t until he heard the mechanized rattling of Ravus’ malfunctioning arm that the Daemon confirmed that he wasn’t alone. His fingers flexed, stretching themselves impossibly wide until the webbing in between threatened to tear. Without pause, he’d firmly gripped the hilt, unsheathing his blade with a practiced roll of his wrist. He’d quietly crept towards the source of the ruckus, taking care so to not alert whatever it was to his presence. It’d taken him a mere handful of seconds to hunt down his alleged prey, a silverette man, one whom was slightly hunched over. Upon closer observation, Dieter could see the vice-like grip he had own arm, the attempts at deep controlled breaths. Dieter’s verdant eyes widened in surprise as the metallic appendage began to ooze a tarry black substance, one that seemed to defy the laws of physics as it’d crept up his arm towards the fleshy portion of the extremity.
What manner of craft is this? , The Daemon Knight pondered, unable to discern if Ravus’ transformation was of a similar nature to his own. Certainly, he couldn’t deny there was a mild similar in the aura emanating from the man. Dieter daringly crept forward another inch just as Ravus had begun muttering to himself, his tone was deep and low, a resonating growl deep within his chest. With a reluctant sigh, the Dark Knight stepped out from his vantage point, audible coughing so as to alert Ravus to his presence.
“The darkness, does it frighten you?”
Dieter inquired softly, his tone soft and curious. Perhaps, it was a frivolous question, especially given that Dieter himself feared the Darkness that he’d kept contained within. He understood its’ true nature in a way that few could fathom, it wasn’t an inert existence, no, it was a dynamic living entity – one that would devour him if left unchecked. Had this man perhaps reached that point? What a shame if he had, it’d meant his master hadn’t prepared him properly for the cruel reality that awaited him. Without hesitation, the Dark Knight plunged his blade into the ground, abandoning it in its’ makeshift sheathe as he’d inched closer.
“It is trying to devour you, no?”
Dieter further pressed, uncertain if he’d be able to offer assistance.

[attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] Ravus was determined to not let the beast take over him again, but what could he do to stop it? He couldn't control the scourge.. only Ardyn was able to to do so and Ardyn wasn't here.. and even if he would be here, the demon would not lend him even a finger to aid him. He had cursed him to this life, after all. The royal needed his concentration to focus on keeping the darkness at bay, but he could hear soft steps not far away from him. Dieter wouldn't even have needed to announce his presence with the cough, Ravus immediately swinging around to see who was there. He would have drawn his weapon, but both of his hands were busy. He was about ready to tell the stranger to leave immediately, but the young man was faster, his words catching Ravus by surprise. What... what was he talking about? The darkness was frightening him? Ravus shook his head as he tried to collect his thoughts. “This.. is none of your business, stranger. You should leave.. as soon as possible.”His eyes traveled back to his magitec arm that was still struggling in his grip, the scourge continuing to creep up his body, trying to take hold of his torso. “What do you believe to know about my curse? Listen to my words and begone!”Ravus could not see any fear in the man's eyes and it made him wonder what he wanted from him. Others would listen to his words and run as fast as possible or be frozen in fear in front of him as they witnessed how his body was slowly eaten by the curse in his veins. Ravus narrowed his eyes, taking deep breaths to keep his focus and at least attempt to keep his body still. “There is nothing you can do.”

Ravus’ concern for the Daemon Knight’s safety was touching, albeit entirely unwarranted. Unbeknownst to the silver-haired Royal, Dieter had forged a pact with the “Darkness” centuries ago, in exchange for diligence it’d blessed him not only with its’ oppressive might but insight to a number of its’ guarded secrets – reluctant to loosen its’ metaphorical lips further. An audible sigh slipped from between Dieter’s lips as Ravus adamantly rebuked his offer for aid. Pride, its’ mankind’s greatest folly. Nonetheless, Dieter pressed forward, undeterred by Ravus’ cryptic warnings. Wordlessly, the Archdaemon followed Ravus’ gaze as it shifted downwards to his magitek arm, his interest piqued as the Starscourge’s corruption continued to advance towards Ravus’ torso.
“Nothing but at the same time everything.”
Dieter replied candidly, his tone soft and reassuring. Ravus’ second attempt to dissuade him was met in kind with a dismissive shake of his head. His left hand drifted up towards his own face, his spindly, alabaster index finger brushing aside a few misplaced hairs and tucked them behind his ear. All the meanwhile, Dieter made note of how Ravus’ eyes had narrowed into thin slits, the man’s breathing slowed marginally and his body stilled. By this time Dieter had closed the brunt of the distance between them, teetering at roughly an arm’s length away.
“You say it with such conviction, nothing is absolute.”
Dieter retorted a fraction of a second before he’d reached out and clasped the afflicted limb. His expression remained unchanged even as the Starscourge attempted to spread, to infect a new potential host. For a second, it looked like it might have successfully as the thick, inky substance began to crawl up Dieter’s arms and attempted to burrow into his skin to infect his veins. His face remained indifferent, unfazed by the searing pain this process had caused, adamantly refusing to show even momentary weakness – his own pride refused to permit him such luxury. If Ravus attempted to pull away from Dieter, he’d find that despite Dieter’s stature, he possessed a Gigas’ strength.
“For it is in passing that we achieve immortality.”
Dieter stated firmly, recalling the century old oath that he’d sworn with the Darkness itself. With each word he uttered, the glyph on the back of his right hand pulsated, its’ soft burgundy glow intensifying until it rivaled that of the bloodiest ruby. For a split second, their reality shifted and both would find themselves spectating an important milestone of Dieter’s past. Ravus would see Dieter standing amongst the broken and battered remains of countless daemon, their eyes hollow and devoid of life while his burned vibrantly. In his hand was a singular black crystal, it pulsated ominously as Dieter brought it to his chest. When it touched his bare skin, it’d shattered into impossibly small fragments, each of which plunged deep into his chest.
“Through this, we become a paragon of virtue and glory to rise above all.”
Dieter tacked on as he’d recalled the pain he’d felt in that instance – his very soul was being widdled away by the Darkness’ musings. He could still remember its’ seductive, feminine tone as it’d offered him hushed promises of releasing him from his pain, that it could offer him sanctuary for a price. All it wanted was a suitable vessel, one that it could potentially make its’ own one day. Sadly, Dieter refused such an offer. For what felt like an eternity they remained locked in stalemate, each negotiating their own terms. Although Ravus wouldn’t hear any of this he would see Dieter’s past-self crumple to the ground. The fragments finally emerging from his skin only to reshape themselves as a beastial existence.
“Infinite in distance and unbound by death.”
Dieter continued, his voice quivering as the sentient creature pivoted its’ head, its’ attention not directly at his past self but Ravus and himself. Its’ maw spread impossibly wide as it’d revealed row upon row of razor sharp teeth, its’ tongue lulling out the side of its’ mouth before it let out a deafening howl. Its’ began to pad in their direction, its’ steps methodically at first. However, that was short lived as it broke off into a full-blown sprint in their direction. Its’ sinewy muscles contracting as it’d prepared to pounce upon them, prepared to devour them in their entirety – this was the dangerous gambit Dieter had played in an attempt to suppress Ravus’ illness.
“ I release your soul, and by my shoulder, protect thee.”
Dieter finished, an invisible wall erecting itself around them just seconds before the beast was upon them. Dieter’s eyes drifted open, their color shifting from his lackluster jade to an iridescent gold. If Ravus paid close enough attention, he’d notice that Dieter had grown an inch or two, one could hear the sound of his flesh tearing as his spine lengthened marginally. The skin of his head also split open only to reveal a pair of horns and a four-pointed crystal upon his forehead, its’ color reminiscent of the crystal he’d shattered earlier – a tangible manifestation of his soul. Without pause, one could see the Darkness that had crept up his arm had ceased, its’ very existence seemed to tremble as Dieter drew it inwards, attempting to suppress it, to make it his own.
While it worked on himself, he could only wonder if it would prove half as effective with Ravus. Periodically, the beast smashed its’ massive paws into the barrier, growling in annoyance each time when it failed to shatter. It still hadn’t lost hope despite centuries having passed, Dieter kept it suppressed and prevented it from consuming him, albeit there had been a handful of times where he’d only barely managed to do so.

[attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] The royal didn't know what this man wanted from him. Why wasn't he running? He seemed.. way to calm about the situation that unfolded in front of him. Almost like... he had seen this many times and was used to it? Hm, no it was something about this boy that made Ravus shiver slightly. This aura of ancient power that radiated from him and the way he spoke reminded him so much on Gentiana, the soul of Shiva. The man suddenly grabbed his befallen arm, Raus immediately looking at him with horror on his face, his other hand grabbing his arm and trying to push him away. “NO! You will share my fate if you touch it!”The man didn't listen.. and his grip was so much stronger than what a human could muster. Even with the strength his arm granted him, there was no way to free himself and so all he could do was watch how the darkness spread on his arm and tried to take him as well. “Get away!!”He didn't want to be the reason for the star scourge to spread once more.. he couldn't let this happen and the thought of it showed true fear on his face. It was in that moment that he caught the light on the others hand, their surroundings seeming to switch as Ravus was pulled somewhere else with the man, his eyes unable to understand what he was seeing right now. Was this.. a vision of the man's past? What was this man? Seeing how his other form was absorbing crystals of darkness and a beast spawned from it, the royal could only stare at what was unfolding, neither his mind nor his body able to truly understand the depth of what was going on in front of him. Dieter continued his cryptic talk, his body twisting into an other form and protecting him and Ravus from the beasts anger by using a shield. Seeing this form and what he was capable off, Ravus couldn't help but remember the Astrals. Was he... one of them? A god long forgotten by mankind? He was able to devour the darkness that had tried to take him without being effected by it and he seemed to try and suppress the evil that had befallen the ex-commander. “What.. are you...? Are you one of the gods?”, he murmured, but his attention was immediately turning back to his arm when could almost hear a shriek of anger radiating from it that almost deafened him. Dieter was trying to help him and the curse in his body was protesting and lashing out on the host. The strange liquid went wild, almost clinging to him and tearing at Ravus's skin. Falling to his knees, he would again grab his arm, screaming out in pain as it kept on lashing out on him and his veins. It crawled up the left side of his neck, starting to spread on one half of his face, his mutation making a horn start to spawn on the left side of his head. “It... It is to strong. This curse.. can not be lifted from me..”His voice had started to warp, a strange tone resonating with his words. “This.. this is .. my punishment... for having failed to protect the person I love.”

| “No, I am one of the Scion’s vassals – my power is a mere fractal of their might.”
Dieter responded without hesitation, his voice devoid of any remnant of emotion. His eyes narrowed as his attention shifted from Ravus’ face downwards to the opaque liquid. Its’ previous slow advanced quickly evolved into a desperate frenzy as the metaphorical parasite tried to preserve itself. This complicates matters entirely , Dieter surmised as he concluded that Ravus and the parasitic entity existed in delicate equilibrium – a symbiotic relationship at its’ finest. Fortunately, the lines of his own relationship had become so blurred and convoluted. He was snapped from his musing when he felt Ravus’ arm shifting in his grasp, the silverette falling to his knees as he screamed in pain.
Before he could make any effort to ease the man’s suffrage, the Star Scourge had already traversed the length of the man’s mechanized arm and spreading across half of his face. Dieter’s blood ran cold when his gaze settled upon Ravus’ newly acquired horns, they were oddly reminiscent of his own. With each passing second, Dieter felt a growing sense of familiarity with the man – his aura wasn’t drastically different from that of an Archdaemon. His elongated canines dug into his lower lip, their persistence rewarded with a rivulet of crimson that bubbled up and trickled down the sides of his chin.
Belias would know what to do , Dieter reluctantly admitted as he’d spared a fleeting glance at the glyph on the back of his hand. For centuries, that glyph had no only served as proof of his allegiance, it’d also acted as a limiter of sorts. If only he knew how to recreate such an arcane masterpiece, it could of perhaps at least suppressed and abated Ravus’ impending transformation. Still, if Ravus bothered to gaze upon Dieter’s face, he’d notice his stoic mask of indifference had cracked. No longer did a prideful warrior stand before Ravus, no, instead it was replaced by an empathetic youth.
“Perhaps, we can suppress it…”
Dieter reassured, his grip tightening evening as Ravus’ voice began to warp and distort. “… A punishment? Those who leave us behind, they don’ pray for our suffrage… Yes, they are absolved of their pain and misery, but it doesn’t cease to exist, no instead we carry the weight in their stead..” Dieter spoke candidly, his gaze drifting downwards as he’d recounted the countless people he’d lost over the years. Certainly, their names faded away into obscurity, lost to the cruel ebb and flow of time. Day by day, their voices, ideals and even traits became unclear. It was one of the reasons he both loved and detested Helios Ambition, it'd served not only as anchorage - a port to call home in the endless storm that was life. But deep down, he knew it would only cause him pain, his comrades would move on, either by choice or by the Death's guidance... What remained for him? He'd be forced to carry on as he always had... A weapon wasn't permitted to know peace until it's master issued the command.
“… You can’t just accept this fate… fight back… I know it hurts… but if you surrender, you’ll lose any trace of your humanity… the person they knew and loved…. They’ll be gone…”
Dieter said as his one hand drifted up towards the side of Ravus’ face. His grip was simultaneously both firm and gentle as he’d forced the man to meet his gaze as he’d uttered one single word. Despite its’ gentle tone, one instinctively knew it wasn’t a suggestion, nor was it to be ignored – this was a command.
“Fight..”

[attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] After having seen his home and knowing it was save now, Ravus was looking for a purpose outside in the universe. He had told himself to stay away from Eos to keep what was left of it save from an other outbreak of the scourge. Of course he would sacrifice himself for the greater good if there was no other way for him. Suppressing it.. what would it do? How long could he keep it down without a cure in sight? He was all by himself.. all alone in the universe with his sister gone. What Dieter said was right about the weight he was carrying on his shoulders. It was a lot to take in, yes.. He wouldn't look up at the other, just staring down on the ground with the scourge continuing to try and eat away at him. But Dieter didn't give up on him, even though the demon didn't know him.. he would try to talk to him and tell him that this wasn't what he wanted and that he had to fight back. A hand reached up to his cheek, Ravus twitching slightly at the touch of the claw on his face that lifted his head up, so he was forced to look into those burning orbs of the other with those blackened eyes he already had from the infection. Only part of his remaining blue one was still the color of the sky. Fight... He wanted him to continue to fight it. Part of Ravus, the part of a warrior, told him that the stranger was right about what he said, but the other part... the other part just wanted one thing... Peace. Lunafreya. She wouldn't want him to give up. She wouldn't want him to make it so hard for himself. He had always been there by her side, always carrying the weight with her and trying to keep her save. But.. how could Ravus fight something that had been poisoning their world for thousands of years without a cure in sight? How could he, a mere blood of an oracle without any power, do anything to stop it from taking him like all before him? Maybe even use him as a new vessel to spread it on an other world? Fear settled on him like an invisible blanket, the scourge slowly spreading over his shoulders to his other hand that started to form into a claw like the other one. What.. could he do to stop it? Gritting his teeth, black liquid dropping from his mouth, he would dig his claws into the ground beneath them, trying to push himself up against the painful transformation he was going through that tried to take over his body and wanted to push him down again with brutal force. He knew.. once it would take over his body and mind, he would no longer be able to fight back. He would attack the man and the man would have to slay him and erase him. He, who had been able to not be infected, might be the sword to destroy the scourge forever right now. “Thousands of years.. this curse has befallen my world.. no one could cure it.. Humanity... is lacking the power.. only the gods combined strength was enough to destroy it.”, he choked out, stumbling back a little. “I am.. not chosen.. neither am I... able to change fate... Maybe I can fight it... but it will only delay the unavoidable. I... I need... help...”There. He said it. He, once the commander of the empire and prince of tenebrea, needed help. All this time he had been a lone wolf. A man that always relied only on his own strength. And now he was standing in front of a stranger, quivering in agony, almost wishing to be released of his existence. “If... if you can.. than please... I beg off you..”He reached out his claw in the man's direction, his face twisted into a display of despair. “HeLp.. MeEeE..!”

[attr="class","really"] [attr="class","exhausted"]What good is a star that has lost its light?
[attr="class","rhythm"] ❝ I watch as they fade one by one
| The platinum blonde swordsman stared down at Ravus’ pained expression, noting how he’d gritted his teeth against the pain as the black pestilence oozed from his mouth. His flaxen brows arched upwards, his curiosity piqued as Ravus’ mutated claws dug into the ground as he’d diligently resisted the Star Scourge’s influence. His fingers reluctantly slid from Ravus’ face as the hoary-haired disgraced Prince regaled him with the history of his affliction. Dieter’s iridescent golden eyes widened in surprise when he’d learned that the man’s affliction had predated his own existence – a true rarity. Ravus exclaimed that Humanity as a whole lacked the power to banish the corrupt influence, no, only the Astral’s combined might had been enough to destroy it.
Ravus went on to discredit himself, exclaiming that he wasn’t chosen, nor had he been able to change fate – a lie in and out itself. Ravus was blissfully ignorant of the fact that each day that he’d resisted its’ corruption, he’d inadvertently changed Fate’s grand design. A soft sigh slipped from between Dieter’s lips as Ravus reluctantly confessed that he’d needed help. Hadn’t he heard the oath that Dieter had sworn just moments prior? It hadn’t merely been for theatrics, nor a stroll down his expansive memory lane. Dieter permitted Ravus’ clawed hand to touch his skin as Dieter stepped a bit closer to Ravus – their close proximity borderline intimate.
Dieter’s eyes drifted shut as he’d plunged into his own darkness, his hands searching the its’ murky depths for a singular spark, one spark that would ignite his very life force to burn down anything that stood in his way. However, its’ purpose this time was tailored to a very specific need, to purge the scourge that was attempting to continue to the devour the man.
“I swore my oath and I shall.”
Dieter’s response came in a rather light-hearted manner despite the gravity of their situation. The very next instance, the air fluctuated as Dieter’s very lifeforce was lit ablaze, it’d became fuel to attempt to burn away the darkness that was consuming him. Dieter’s hand remained placed firmly upon Ravus’ chest, positioned directly over his heart as his eyes fluttered shut as he’d manipulated the flames, targeting the furthest outreaching darkness and attempting to coral it back into its’ point of origin. For the time being, it’d manifested itself as a singular spark that was trying to ignite the black mass, if it was successful it would spread wildly, yet never once would it singe or burn Ravus’ flesh.
If one paid close enough attention, they’d notice how these very flames seemed to displace time and space itself – slowing it down to the point where one could feel each palpation of their heart, hear every singular puff of breath, feel each individual hair shift in the ever present breeze.

[attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] Ravus had actually hoped in a part of his mind that this man would just slam his claws into his heart and erase him with the scourge. It was a sad thought, that was true, but Ravus would sacrifice himself for the greater good of the stars. Not because he wanted fame and glory. Not because he wanted to prove he was better than the Caelum's family. No, this was him understanding the true depth of the situation he was in and his life slowly losing it's real meaning to him. Without his sister, there was nothing in this world for him to fight for. He had done his job. Noctis had gotten the sword and erased the evil from his home. His role was over the moment his last breath escaped him in their home, at least for him it felt this way. His hand would touch the man, but he did not grab it to break it or do anything else with it. He let him pass, a sigh escaping the others lips as he started to speak to the former prince. “I swore my oath and I shall.” Ravus felt how a hand would touch his torso and the royal was ready to close his eyes and wait for the blow to finish him off.. but it didn't come. No, this man had other plans for him. He wouldn't erase him, but do as he had said before.. Blackened eyes would open, widening as he caught the glimpse of something burning around the other. It looked like flames, but these were not flames of fire. There was something far more powerful going on in front of him, the spark jumping over to his body, touching the darkness on him. In a matter of seconds, it would catch fire, spreading over the scourge and seeming to burn it alive. It shrieked loudly in his ears and Ravus waited for the fire to burn him also, but... the pain never came. Instead, he could feel the stinging sensation of the scourge trying to cling to the host as Ravus's body seemed to have turned into a living torch. The curse tried to fight the burning sensation, trying to take over Ravus to attack the man. The scourge grabbed his mind, seeming to speak through his voice as it screamed in agony, his eyes turning completely black for a moment, before the scourge would suddenly retreat. The black poison moved back like it had spread, revealing his real features once more, the evil vanishing back into the core of Ravus's heart. With the invisible strings burned off by the flames, Ravus body would sink to his knees, his lungs breathing in the freedom he had gained with a gasp. His two-colored eyes opened again, staring down at his shaking hands, seeing that they were no longer black claws. The scent of the scourge had left his body. Ravus knew it was there somewhere deep inside off him but it seemed so weak and fragile all of the sudden. What.. had the man done? Ravus was exhausted, but he knew that this man would be even more than him. He had recognized the energy that had filled his body to be the man's essence. Had he.. used his own life-energy to perform this miracle? His eyes moved up, trying to make out if Dieter was still standing. Ravus just stared at him, seeming unable to understand what just happened to him and to the demon in front of him. Why.. would he do this for him? For a stranger.. killing him would have been so much easier, yet the other chose a path that would hurt him as well.

| Had the centuries spent walking amongst mankind made him soft? The Dark Knight was left to wonder to himself, silently reflecting upon his past as he’d witnessed the Star Scourge ignite, gradually being burnt up. Once upon a time, Dieter wouldn’t have hesitated to grant Ravus’ desperate request, all to happy to oblige, to gift him with an honorable death – a warrior’s demise. The Daemon’s lips curved at the edges, drifting downwards as his thoughts shifted towards that dark chapter of his life. It was a period of time when he hadn’t known compassion, nor warmth, no he’d only known the thrall of battle – it was the only time he’d truly felt alive.
What had changed him so drastically? Dieter’s path had crossed with one of the Twelve, Belias the Gigas, the Scion of Flames. On that day, Dieter discovered what it meant to truly know fear, to know that one’s flame could be snuffed out with but a singular gesture. If it weren’t for Belias’ munificence, his desire to companionship and a dutiful vassal, Dieter would have joined his fallen brethren – reduced to ash by an angry god. Dieter’s gaze lingered upon Ravus’ shifting features as the Star Scourge retreated. In that instance, Dieter saw a glimpse of his past self, history had a way of ironically repeating itself – except now he had filled the shoes of his Master.
His lesson already passed to Ravus, the importance of never losing hope – the only thing that stood firm in the face of adversity. It was a soft voice that whispered to you in your darkest hour, reminding that sometimes the only options before you were to admit defeat or press forward. Dieter’s trance was broken as he felt Ravus’ body crumple downwards, the silver-haired man falling to his knees. The aftermath of Dieter’s reckless consummation of his own vitality held at bay for the time being by sheer willpower alone – he should have lapsed into unconsciousness long ago. He smiled to himself as he’d watched Ravus stare at his own untainted hands in disbelief.
Just as Ravus’ gaze shifted up towards his face, the brunt of his recklessness crashed down upon him. Dieter’s eyes dilated, his pupils expanding to the point where they’d looked like saucers. His pallor rapidly deteriorated until it resembled that of unblemished marble, his legs shook abruptly before he’d collapsed downwards. The entirety of Dieter’s weight falling upon Ravus as Dieter fell forward. Before the sweet embrace of unconsciousness fully embraced him, a singular word slipped from his lips.
“Live.”
Despite his weakened stated, Dieter’s voice still held its’ commanding tone. Dieter’s own transformation quickly reverted as the last of the phantasmal flames burnt themselves out.

[attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] Ravus looked at the other, his eyes taking in the shaking features of the other just in time to react. The body of the seemingly young man drifted forward, taking by gravity as he threatened to fall on his own body. Arms moving up fast, the royal took a firm grip on the other so he wouldn’t land on the ground, shifting his position to something more comfortable in the hands of the royal. He just stared at him, the unknown feeling of worry flashing past his body when he saw the weakened form of his savior. His body returned to his human features, his eyes closing as one last word escaped his lips, before blissful sleep would take him away from reality. Live.. that was the order of the man. A moment of silence stretched, before Ravus seemed to be able to return to reality, his hand moving up to the others neck to check for a pulse. It was a silly thought considering he was in front of such a mighty being, but knowing he used a very draining skill there could end with the others heart to stop in theory. The royal sighed in relief when he indeed found a pulse, the other most likely very exhausted from the miracle he had performed. Immediately, Ravus knew what he had to do. It was his duty to make sure this soul was save till he recovered and came back to his senses. This creature has saved his human soul from complete corruption, so of course he would try to repay him for it. His eyes traveled through his surroundings. This place was to open and it could be dangerous to stay here to recover, so he did the most plausible thing… get Dieter and get him away from here. It wasn’t easy for the other at first, he himself being exhausted from the fight, but he pulled through and managed to get Dieter on his back. He would carry him into the woods, directly to a small lake. The place was perfect to set up a small camp of sort. Gently, he would set Dieter down on the soft grass, seeming to think for a moment, before he unbuttoned his long coat to use it as some kind of blanket for the demon. Ravus had to admit, he felt kind of naked without it, now all the armor parts under it visible, just like part of what was left of his real left arm, covered in scars and burn marks, before the metal of his artificial arm would start.... He stayed close to the other, cutting some wood in the nearby forest and bringing it back to the unconscious man, the royal actually able to make a campfire with the Sparks of his magitec arm. Ravus hoped the warmth would help the other in his condition and with fresh water an arm-length away, all was set, should things go ugly. Now all Ravus could do.. is wait.. wait for the other to return to his senses without healing. Ravus couldn’t perform magic like his sister and the potions he had would only help with open wounds. With a sigh, the man just sat at the fire, his blade always close to him should monsters or animals try to attack them. His two-colored eyes stared into the sky as nightfall slowly seemed to approach. Fight.. live… words of hope…

Now trapped within his own subconscious, an untoward consequence of his desire to protect Ravus from being consumed by the Star Scourge. When his dreamscape self’s eyes fluttered open, Dieter found himself knelt before a towering throne once more – a construct tied to his unwavering devotion and loyalty to Belias. Upon said throne sat a colossal-horned creature, its’ fingers splayed outwards as it’d wordlessly beckoned for its’ tainted vassal to rise and greet its’ Lord. Without question nor hesitation, the Dark Knight rose from his position of fealty in perfect silence, despite the cumbersome plate-mail that encompassed his lithe silhouette. How long had it been since he’d donned his armor? Dieter mused to himself, noting how without his consent, the corner of his lips twitched – threatening to inch their way upwards.
“My Dark Knight, how is it you’ve come to be in such a state of disrepair?” The imposing figure questioned, the edge of his voice sharp enough to elicit an audible wince from between Dieter’s lips – his Lord was displeased by his reckless behavior. None the less, in spite of his desire to advert his gaze, the Dark Knight adamantly stared down the likeness of the Scion of Flames. Even if deep down, a portion of his subconscious screamed that this wasn’t real. He still refused to permit himself to be perceived as weak or feeble, especially, not by himself – his strength had always been a source of his pride. Dieter’s chest heaved as he’d inhaled deeply, holding his breathe until it grew stagnant within his lungs and began to burn feverishly.
A second or two passed in awkward silence, threatening to draw on indefinitely before Dieter exhaled. Truthfully, his nerves were still on edge, albeit, they were arguable manageable for the time being.
“My Lord, I suffered these injuries protecting an innocent from being consumed by the darkness that plagued them.”
Dieter replied candidly, his tone curt yet simultaneously polite. For a moment, an awkward silence loomed over the duo before it was dispelled by the Scion’s booming laughter. Dieter’s stoic expression remained unchanged as he’d maintained his mask of indifference, uncertain of how to interpret. His Lord’s bout of laughter dragged on before a handful of seconds before it’d slipped into a reluctant uncomfortable silence. Belias’ tree branch thick fingers extended outwards in his direction, encroaching ever closer. Before he could retreat or recoil, the Scion’s hand had already found itself atop of his head.
“You have grown Dieter, far more than I ever though you would… I’m glad my lessons stuck. Alas… our time is short and I must go.”
Dieter remained silent, teardrops gathering in the corner of his eyes as his surrounding world faded into nothingness. One was left to wonder how their own mind could be so cruel. Dieter’s eyes shot open, his chest heaving as he inhaled sharply, the tears sliding freely down the side of his face splattering against the ground. Dieter’s body jerked forward with quickly enough that it’d pinned Ravus’ coat between his chest and thigh. Dieter stared awkwardly down at the jacket, his arms sneaking up under its’ cover only to wrap themselves around his legs and hug them a fraction of an inch closer to himself.
“Where have you gone?”
Dieter asked to no one in particular, his tone dejected and laced with sorrow. This was what remained hidden behind Dieter’s stoic mask and playful smiles. Despite his boundless strength, he was not without his own weakness – humankind had made him soft over the centuries.

[attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] Ravus watched the sky turn dark and stars appear slowly, twinkling in silence. All he could hear was the water close to them, he wind in the trees and the cracking of the fire from the warming camp he had build up. His eyes traveled to Dieter who still seemed to rest. Seeing his chest rise and fall made him sigh slightly and he returned to look into the sky. He wondered if one of those stars was his home... He wondered if it was truly save now and.. maybe one of those stars was his sister watching him, sending him a light of hope to hold onto? It was a nice thought... but... Whatever he told himself, he knew she would never be back again. Hope is what keeps him going right now... Dieter had not saved his life for nothing. He needed to move on somehow. It was when he heard a loud gasp, that his eyes would shot back to the man under his coat, his body moving up and taking hold of his knees. The streams of tears could not be ignored by Ravus and he couldn't help but wonder why the creature with so much power was crying.. what had he seen? He also talked to himself, asking a question to no one how it seemed. Taking a deep breath, Ravus would get up and walk over to the distressed demon, kneeling down in front of him carefully and take a look at his condition. “You have awakened. Good.”The royal tilted his head to the side, seeming to think about taking hold of the other to show him he wasn't alone right now. Just a gentle squeeze on his shoulder could be enough, but he didn't know if the other could lash out at him in such a state. “What you did was rather reckless... It drained your body badly. If I had known how much this would damage you... Are you in pain?”The expression on his face was serious like always, but his eyes showed that he felt worry for the other.

| What did the Dark Knight’s strength truly amount to? One wondered, especially, if such weaknesses existed just beneath the surface, concealed by a momentary guise. Dieter’s coral-hued lips dipped downwards at the edges as he’d internalized, silently questioning himself about what had happened to the calloused, unrelenting weapon he’d been conditioned to be. Mordred’s specter loomed within his forethoughts, quietly whispering his prophesized warning, citing that his compassion for mankind was destined to be his undoing. In spite of his sorrows, Dieter’s sharpened senses picked up the distinct sound of Ravus’ sharp inhalation, the Silverite steeling his nerves as he’d proceeded to approach the distressed Daemon Knight. It was only as Ravus knelt down in front of him that Dieter’s head craned upwards, tear-filled lackluster eyes meeting Ravus’ dichromatic gaze.
It didn’t take a genius to sense the Royal’s apprehension, uncertainly evident in the way Ravus’ head craned to the side. Dieter’s grip upon his forearms redoubled, his nails biting into his own flesh as he’d resisted the urge to tremble. Ravus’ words dispelled the momentary silence that existed between the two, despite the chastising nature of his words, the concern woven in was evident. What Ravus’ didn’t understand was that Dieter had performed such miracles on the battlefield innumerable times, constantly inching closer and closer to the hair-thin boundary that separated life from the Reaper’s domain. During those exchanges, his very life force was placed upon the table, a gamble that he’d been fortunate enough to walk away from.
But that was the first time that the destructive power granted by his unholy oaths hadn’t been used to decimate his foes. No, in Ravus’ case it’d burnt away at the spreading Star Scourage and had forced it into momentary remission.
“Fret not, I shall be fine given time to recover…. It isn’t the first time I’ve taxed myself so heavily.”
Dieter confessed half-heartedly, momentarily losing himself within the memories of a vast battlefield. A symphony of desperate cries assaulted his senses, their pleads of mercy were drowned out by the crackling flames that mercilessly consumed them.
“More importantly, how are you feeling?”
Dieter pressed, insistent on shifting the conversation away from the topic of his own well-being. His kinds’ vitality were on par with creatures of legend, Trolls and Orcs, to name a few.

[attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] The seemingly young man with such an old soul seemed troubled. It showed by the tears and the way he clawed into his arm and Ravus was almost certain that Dieter wasn't telling him how he really felt. Well, of course he wouldn't. Dieter may have saved his life, but that didn't mean they are close friends or anything of the sort. They were still mostly strangers to each other, so there was no need or reason for him to tell him anything about his pain or thoughts. The royal simply nodded at the attempt to ensure him that he would recover soon, just leaving it like that for now. Though his arm did move up to take Dieter's, trying to make sure he doesn't rip his own skin of his arm. The warrior switched the subject immediately, asking the ex-commander about his current condition. His eyes would look down on his mechanical arm, those clawed artificial fingers curling into a fist slightly, before they relaxed again, his human hand moving up to the space between his neck and prosthetic, carefully touching it. “It seems... that your attempt of aiding me has done something to the starscourge in my body. It retreated and I can't sense it anymore... almost.”
He wanted to believe that it was gone, but part of him already knew that this wasn't the case. It's influence has dwindled, but when he closed his eyes, he could still feel it moving through his veins somewhere deep down in his heart. A moment of silence stretched between them, thoughts racing through the royal's mind, his hard expression seeming to relax ever so slightly. “You have saved my life. It would have taken over me and rampaged through this world. It was a rather reckless action, but we are both still alive and breathing. I owe you a lot right now. Thank you.”Yes, the evil within his limps has eased, but a strong exhaustion has settled itself on him, his body settling down next to Dieter, sitting on the grass now. He outstretched his one leg, the other pulled closer to his body, his prosthetic placed on the knee, so the weight of it was no longer that strong on his worn remaining part of his arm that had been effected the most by the outburst of the curse. The scars ached still and felt stiff right now.
