Tseng was getting sick and tired of all of this. He had already discovered that the first portal had caused him to world jump. He had been hopeful that he'd done enough research to figure out how to manage things better. That he could get to where he wanted to go. At least they were aware that some worlds allowed their technology like his PHS to work. His PHS was one of the few things that never left his side. It was his only way to communicate with his co-workers. He was able to message them and call them if necessary. It was very important to his job. That's when he noticed something a bit strange.
He was upside down and underwater.
Tseng had been like this for at least a few minutes. He hadn't noticed it before and hadn't noticed holding his breath. Was he even holding his breath? It made the Turk panic for a few moments, stopping any and all breathing he may have been doing. Maybe they weren't traveling through worlds? Maybe he had died in the helicopter crash. It would account for everything strange that had been happening since. But, it did not explain why the helicopter malfunctioned on him.
Tseng had looked down, or rather up. He wasn't really all that sure. But, either way, he had realized that his legs had been replaced with a rather oddly shaped tail. It resembled a koi fish, if he was being quite honest. It was bright orange and white. The fins were positioned where his hips and behind would normally be. He managed to lift the fin forward to discover there was also one where both his feet would be and then one just above it. If it had been anywhere else but on his legs, but might find it quite beautiful. However, the fact that he was missing half his body worried him more. It was also a bit awkward that his uniform was gone and lacked all form of clothing.
It was almost like Hojo was behind all of this.
The Turk made a few attempts to adjust his placement in the water as his eyes scanned his surroundings. It seemed that breathing wasn't an issue after he was finally forced to breath with his failed attempt to swim toward the surface. He didn't quite know what to do. He looked like an idiot flailing his arms with his hair failing to cooperate. He was so caught off guard, he hadn't even noticed his gun was lying on the sand below him, or rather above him.

Well now, this was... interesting. Ysera floated slowly in the water while studying her surroundings. It felt much like a disaster on where she was and what was going on. She had heard of dark portals appearing and simply took on a job to find out what was in it. First she only found darkness, then she went from the black surroundings where she actually found some normal dirt to... well... she had legs moments ago, but she felt suddenly incapable of walking and found her legs to be gone. Instead there was a tail. A fishtail for that matter. One with a flowing end. The tail itself was yellow much like her pants had been. She didn't appear to be wearing pants any longer. At least she still had her orange tabard that covered also a bit of the lower area, even if it didn't matter much with the fishtail.
"Why?" she asked herself before checking on her side, the quiver was there, her bow was with her, so she didn't lose her ability to fight. That was all that mattered for now. Her wings appeared to have evolved as they now stretched out and seemed less bat-like. Perhaps they were just large fins right now, they still came from her back, so it mattered little. As she attempted to do some flying skills while in the water, she felt she could easily adapt to swimming, though there required some more skill when it came to her tail.
As Ysera started to figure out how to swim, she did start moving further ahead while still grasping the basics of her current... transformation. "Hm," she felt an oddity on her head and felt that her two horns had transformed as well. Light came from her head as she found two... antennae? At least they gave light, seemed helpful for... how deep underwater am I? This bothered the Hunter a little, hopefully she figured a way out soon, perhaps she could simply go back. But right now, she did go here with reason, like her current quest was here.
Scanning the area, Ysera saw in the distance a... merman, or whatever goes for it, hanging upside-down in the water. Company, the man seemed the best choice for now in the sense of directions... or location... or honestly anything on what in world's name is going on. Were they Lamia or something? "Hey!" she called out, noting her tone was somewhat annoyed rather than neutral. Meanwhile she kept moving to the flailing fishman.

Tseng really was having some issues figuring out how to situate himself. To anyone watching, it was probably quite a show. Normally, the man was very calm and collective. In this moment, he was beginning to feel frustrated and aggravated. Tseng hated being caught off guard or put into a situation where he was not prepared. He would normally stalk out future assignments and do the prep work for plans as well as backup plans if things did not turn out well. This. This was nothing he had ever planned for. It wasn't logical.
That's when he heard a voice and a not too pleased tone associated with the voice. The Director lifted his head to see a strange looking fish woman approaching him. At least she seemed to be speaking English. That was a bit of a relief as he let out a sigh as he tried to focus a bit more to try and get himself right-side up.
Honestly, she had some pretty vibrant colors to her as well, the wings and antennae were pretty interesting. However, if he saw that normally, he'd of probably had his gun drawn. Seeing as he was in the same kind of fish form, he presumed that she was as human as they got wherever he was. That's when the realization hit him that he didn't know where his side arm went. He glanced at his side where it normally would be before looking above him in the sand. He was relieved to see that it was safely situated above him. He reached up and collected his gun before placing it on his side, it disappearing when he did it. He was a bit confused by this as he gave up with the attempt to turn right-side up.
"Hello...." He replied as he watched her closely. At least it didn't feel like the blood was rushing to his head. That was a relief in itself to be honest. Maybe he could figure out what was going on from this person.

As Ysera got closer, the merman seemed to study her while looking for the metal thing in the sand. It looked like a gun, but rather small in comparison to what she was used to. Did someone make a toy version of a gun? she pondered calm to herself as she now got nearer. The man collected the toy before it vanished. This didn't really surprise Ysera much, considering the man didn't exactly have pockets or anything where he could keep things in. Or anything for that matter. The antennae was still weird on her head as they moved unusual above her head.
The man, apart from the fishtail, looked pretty much like a Hume if she saw one. She assumed if he had to have horns, he would also have something like her antennae or anything. All the other races did have specific appearances. He didn't look much like a Rev anyway. Considering the man still hadn't turned around and hung upside-down, Ysera recalled the flailing. He possibly didn't belong in this place like she did. So possibly also someone sent like she was? Or just someone who stumbled into one by accident, she didn't really care either way, but it was good information.
"Need... help?" she asked monotone while shifting her head sideways as if she tried to look in a similar direction. Her main way of swimming was by use of her wings after all, so it was not like she had figured out the normal manner of swimming as of yet. "Not from here, are you," it didn't come out as a question, more as a statement as she kept studying the upside-down man. She sighed, annoyed and bored with the situation already. Honestly, she felt like grabbing the man and spinning him around, so it was easier talking, but perhaps he would react hostile if she did such a thing without his consent.

Tseng wasn't able to deduce as much as Ysera was able. He did not have horns or wings that had changed for whatever world he was on. Honestly, she seemed more human than the shadows he had already encountered. That made her alright to speak with. He had to collect information one way. The less hostile approach would be best seeing as the position he was in. It just bothered the Turk knowing he did not have the upper hand if things did begin to go south. Especially with his gun disappearing to Gaia knows where.
The Director did not not speak for a moment as he assessed the situation. Though, he did respond at her second inquiry. "Not at all..." As much as Tseng hated looking like a fool in front of another, he was desperate. "...Give me a moment..." He asked before he tried moving his arms a bit and figuring out how to move his fin properly. He managed to at least turn himself the proper direction and stop. That was a huge feat in itself.
"I apologize. Do you know where we are?" He asked. It was a simple question. In the back of his head he could almost hear Reno's smirk and snarky replies like 'its the ocean, boss'. It was enough to drive the head Turk mad. So, he almost immediately added onto his original question. "I mean a location, not the fact that we are underwater..."
Being right side up gave him the chance now to scan the woman in front of him better. She seemed to be a bit different in form than himself. He knew he probably had a single fin or something on his spine, yet the woman's was different. They portrayed wings much more than a fin. Then there were the antennas. They almost felt out of place on her body. But, who was he to judge. For all he knew, she looked like every average person on this world. Tseng had no idea that Ysera was not of this world either. That would honestly come as much of a surprise. Especially with the fact she was moving so well under the water.

Ysera simply remained quiet and calm as she watched the man struggle. He didn't seem to immediately reply, which didn't bother the Hunter whatsoever. Not like she was that great of a talker to begin with. The man then indicated he needed no help as he moved his arms and worked his way to getting to turn and find himself into a proper position. She just nodded calm to him as he managed his achievement, not like she had anything to give nor were these the sort of achievements she would see placed by the clan.
The man continued, indicating what she had already assumed. The man knew as little of where they were as she did. Which was no improvement or anything. Perhaps even another lone clansman on a mission. "We are indeed.." she replied in a calm voice, acknowledging they were underwater, "apart from that, no... Wouldn't even be sure if this is still Ivalice," she continued somewhat monotone while looking around herself to the scenery. It seemed rather pretty underwater, but she doubted her bow and arrows did that much while there, especially with the water slowing things down for her and her attacks.
"Are you..." she tilted her head again curiously as her gaze returned on the man, "from another clan of some kind?" While Ysera had stopped being part of a clan, she did still take up missions at times. So it was primarily a curiosity. She couldn't really pinpoint precisely how different Tseng was, especially with the odd weapon he had earlier. Perhaps he was more a researcher?

Tseng was extremely pleased being rightside up again. Not being in control of a situation normally frustrated the man. But, this was almost an exception. He had been thrown about enough that it was more baffling then frustrating. Now that he was slightly oriented with being the right way, he figured it was alright to converse. She did not seem to be any threat, though her tone reminded him a bit of Rude.
The woman finally spoke up before Tseng nodded, not saying very much in reply. But, it was probably safer to be polite and calm. Especially when he was not sure where his gun went. When she spoke about a place called 'Ivalice', Tseng was a bit surprised. That certainly was not a location in Gaia. So, that would only mean she was from another world. Maybe he really wasn't dead. That at least gave him a bit of hope that this was not the afterlife.
When the woman asked about a clan, he shook his head faintly. "No, I am not. I'm not from Ivalice either." He was aware the universe was larger than anyone could measure. But, he never expected to meet someone from another planet. Jenova was the only being that Gaia had ever encountered from space. But, not everything or everyone outside of Gaia had to be evil. He just needed to be weary.
"How did you get here, if I might ask..." It was worth the shot to ask. Maybe she was in the same predicament as he was.

Watching the man shake his head, Ysera pondered what caused the man to be here. The response he added to it, indicated he was not from Ivalice. This seemed curious, but he had heard a few tales, "so... another place or dimension," she replied while looking around again. Her tone didn't give much surprise, but she did smile. The idea of being in another dimension, meeting people from yet another dimension seemed interesting in itself. However, considering they changed appearances on arrival, Ysera couldn't really pinpoint much from Tseng's appearance.
"Gateway," Ysera responded when the man asked on how she got there. As she looked behind her, she knew the portal was rather out of sight at this point. "Some... gateways have been appearing..." she started calm and attempted to explain the reasons for her being there, "along with black fiends. Researchers posted bills to find out the origin... I just took up a quest and came through one," she ended her explanation with that. Simple enough it seemed to her. Not needing to make the explanation longer than necessary.
Knowing introductions were lacking, Ysera placed a hand on her chest as she nodded her head. "I am Ysera, from the clan Helios' Ambition," she introduced herself as, hoping the man would be so kind to reply with an introduction of his own. It seemed rather annoying if they couldn't refer to one another later on. Then something came to mind, considering their appearances currently, "I'm a Gria, this world made that less... showing."

Tseng listened to the woman speak. He could sense from her body language that there was no ill will. She seemed genuinely curious with her statements and questions, but he could tell her emotions did not show all that well on her face. He could read only a bit from the body language, not knowing what was natural for the sea person. Honestly, he was still a bit stressed due to the change in environment. However, he did feel a little more relaxed with the woman. At least she was not a threat. That much was certainly a plus in his book.
Ysera explained about how she had found a gateway with black monsters. Though, he did not understand what she meant about bills being posted. Maybe it was whatever was required with the quest. The Director nodded as he listened intently. So, he was not the only person to experience these shadowed creatures. He had never seen them before until after he and his partner had been pulled into a 'gateway' when it caused their helicopter to malfunction and stall.
The introduction caught him off guard a bit. It was not something that he expected. But it was a nice gesture. A name would not be the death of him. He could muster that much. "My name is Tseng. I am not sure what a 'Gria' is, but I'm human. I'm not sure what this world has done, but I normally do not have fins or a tail..." He explained.

| Giving her explanations, the man simply chose to listen without saying much. While Ysera was not really good at talking nor conversations in general, it was nice enough to be allowed to finish what she was saying. It didn't seem he had much to add on what she was saying. Or rather, he didn't seem to understand it all. However, it wasn't until her introduction that he gave response. First with his own introduction, which was just a name and... he referred to himself as a 'human'.
"So... a Hume," Ysera said, she was certain that in some places, they were referred to that as well, honestly it didn't matter all that much. She didn't have much to think on the name, it wasn't the most common of names where she had been, but she didn't think of it as 'uncommon' either when considering many other names she had encountered. He didn't add any clans, so she wasn't entirely sure whether his world had these either. It mattered little. He didn't know of Gria either, but considering they only existed in a small part of Ivalice, it didn't mean they would be many in other worlds if they even existed there.
Ysera nodded calm, "we're a race of people with dragon-like traits," she added calm. The part where he mentioned the fins and tail, "there are monsters and others with these traits where I am from... but I normally don't have these either." She pointed calm at the antennae, "I should have horns, not these..." she explained.
"Do you... know much of the gateways?" she asked calm, hoping she would be able to gain some more information from him. Apart from the worlds and such thus far. It might also be an idea to ask later on places to go in his world. It would definitely help her on her way. Then she'd know who to go to or what to find in places. Though, it possibly also depended on regions and nations.

Tsengs brow ruffled a bit when the woman called him a 'hume'. He supposed that it was almost like a slang in their world for a human. It was the only thing that really made sense. Otherwise, he wouldn't know what to make of the term she'd just used. It was a bit odd honestly. But, he'd been called far worse from worse people. He wouldn't take offense to it. Being Wutainese did have it's negatives as well as it's benefits. His name was a little more common in Wutai and it was seen very strange outside the country. To be honest, Ysera was a little strange. But he had heard odder names and dealt with people's code names. That's what the Turks did for a while. They were nicknamed by the weapons they used.
When the exchange changed to her explaining what a Gria was, he watched and nodded slowly. So, she was almost a cross between a dragon and a human, It was slightly awkward to talk about, seeing as dragons were rather dangerous back on Gaia. They were not sentient like this young woman. They were dangerous and they'd had to have SOLDIER handle one or two in his time at ShinRa. Especially around Nibelheim.
"I see." He nodded a bit as he simply watched her. Tseng was not really sure what to make of her. But, at least he was getting more information as the day went. That much was a relief. He hated being uninformed. If only he knew where they were. That would make things a bit better in his mind.
"Gateways?" He asked when she asked him about such. It took him a moment before he spoke up. "You mean the black portals?" He asked her ins response. "I do not know much of anything about them. Other than the fact that I am here because of them."

| Ysera nodded, understanding that the man simply came by the gateways, or portals as he referred to them, and was practically in a similar situation as she was. Considering the man was rather quiet of himself when she didn't ask questions, the Gria dropped the talk for now. Looking around herself at the surroundings, she pondered what to do.
The man, Tseng, hadn't really told her where he was from, only giving where he wasn't from. Considering Ivalice wasn't his place to go, she couldn't really take him to the passage she had come from, or portal, or anything it should be named. So there was the option to take him to Ivalice, but Ysera did want to check more of the oceanfloor or wherever this is. Noting that there wasn't really others around, it was still difficult to figure out if this place even had people living in it.
Considering the man had come from his own portal, Ysera figured she might just as well ask: "where is your 'black portal'? Or has it closed already?" Considering some stayed longer periods while others closed quickly, she never was too sure. She honestly had no clue how much longer hers would stay... if it was still there.

Tseng never felt comfortable offering more information than was required. He did offer more depending on the situation, but usually to gain the other's trust. That was usually in the case of a mission or and it was always a facade. He never gave real information. It was always the information that he had made up for his cover story if he needed it. Honestly, it was very rare that he needed such information. But, being as he did not know where he was or what was going on, he would be far more open to giving some information if necessary. But, thankfully, the young woman did not seems all that interested in knowing about him. It made his life that much easier.
The young woman finally spoke up after looking around a bit. She was asking about the portals again and it was a bit awkward. He honestly wasnt sure. They seemed to open and close very quickly, he never really had much chance to react in those situations. "It had already closed, but I was somewhere else. It was much colder. My partner and I had gotten seperated. I stepped in accidentally, there was not any warning. I was partially hoping that she turned up here as well." He explained to the dragon woman.
"Her name is Elena. A bit shorter, blonde hair, caucasian, tends to talk a bit more than she should." He gave a half description. He was worried about her, but understood that she could handle herself in a situation. He just needed to find her.

| Ysera thought on his words, the portal he had come from was gone, so that wasn't going to help. As a separate matter, they might just find themselves in the cold environment if they searched for a way through there. Then again, perhaps there were more paths within that dark realm within the portals. It had appeared that this man had stepped into this portal unaware. So... it must've just happened to open right there. The Gria wondered if Heartless had come from it, or if the man just quickly tripped on to end up here, she wasn't entirely sure.
Considering the speed he went through and his partner not appearing to be there, Ysera concluded that the moment it opened and caught Tseng, it immediately closed behind him and left the partner out. Perhaps someone or something had willed to separate the two. She shook her head, "not seen her, apologies," she responded calm. Looking around, she wasn't entirely sure what to do with this situation. Figuring it was possibly a better idea to head back to her own portal to see if it was still present and go to Ivalice, they'd have a better chance to figure out a way for the man to go home.
"Do you think you could manage to swim?" Ysera asked after thinking for some moments, "I could but try and guide you to Ivalice," she suggested. With that, she hoped the man might catch the hint that from there they stood a better chance at finding a way for him to return. Though, then again... if the woman she had described did find a way here, she'd not be able to find Tseng here any longer, so that was a hassle in itself. Perhaps it was something to look into with the clan.
"We could check... on my portal... or we could try and find your partner here around," if the portal had already closed, then the latter option would even go on without finding her own portal, Ysera figured. Though, if the portal was open, there was still both options present: Either go through and find a way home for the man, or see if the portal can be maintained and go search for the partner. She left the options open for the man to consider. | Words: 389 Tags: TsengNotes: Very late response, apologies. | |

Tseng was not entirely sure how the portals worked or how he had managed to fall through one. All he was aware of was that he had ended up through another portal. It was far too much for him to figure out at this moment. He had not had the time to fully absorb exactly what was going on. The director had a few missions that needed to be completed on his own world. He did not need to add other worlds into the equation. Knowing Rufus, the man would want to find a way to explore and use it all to his advantage. The president was focusing on his on rebuilding the company and finding alternative forms of energy now that the life stream was no longer a viable option. Rufus needed to focus on the company and their planet.
"I didn't expect you to have." He admitted when Ysera spoke up stating that she had not met her yet. It was completely understandable. How would she have met Elena already if she was talking to him. He was hoping she would keep an eye out for the female Turk.
That's when the topic quickly changed. It was odd how she was able to just switch like that and offer to get him back to a place called Ivalice. Honestly, it was better than wherever they were now. "I can figure it out." Tseng agreed with a nod. It would be difficult. But, they'd be able to find Elena and get out of this underwater death trap.
It took a little bit of time, but he figured it out after some trial and error. He moved and shifted towards the gria. He nodded to signify that he was ready to head off. He was hopeful that they may get lucky and find Elena along the way. That, or a way to get off this planet so he had a better chance to find Elena. "I think I have this..."
