Alessandro checked his wallet for a third time this morning, much to his dismay. Two hundred and fifteen Gil wasn’t going to get him very far, and he still hadn’t found work yet. He’d been doing odd jobs, including private security and bouncer at a couple shady bars. It was enough to get him by, but now he barely had money to last him a week and he was about to do something bold.
He took another quick peek around the corner as a guard was making his rounds. As soon as he passed by, Alex quickly snuck down the hall to open the door to a office that was very familiar. He’d heard that the Turks were operating out of Edge City now, but he knew for a fact that Tseng had another office in Junon.
He very quietly opened the door, but, much to his dismay, the office was empty. However, he saw hope as he went to the desk and saw a couple papers on the desk with yesterday’s date upon them. That hopefully meant that Tseng was in town and would be popping in this morning. It was easier for Alessandro to sneak in during the early morning hours, and that just happened to be true.
Alessandro say in Tseng’s chair and threw his feet upon his desk, with bits of dried mud falling from his boots onto the stack of papers there. He pulled out the cardboard pack of cigarettes from his jacket pocket and lit one of the death sticks inside. Alex might as well enjoy a smoke while he waited on his former boss to check in.

The cold weather had surely picked up since the planet had come under Sephiroth’s fate once more, the blonde Turk walked in front of her boss, her coat pulled tightly around her as she carried her disposable coffee cup in one hand. The brown eyed women was one step in front of Tseng, as the man behind carried his own shop brought coffee along with some files. It was a nice break away for the two of them out of Midgar and actually having some alone time.
Elena had been looking forward to this morning, it was a break away from all the hustle of Shinra and the rebuilding of the planet. It was extra nice to have peace and quiet away from Reno, giving the two of them time to get over the headaches the redhead normally brings with him. “I think that’s the best I’ve slept in months..” Elena admitted as she shifted to get Tseng’s office door for him, she had paused for the key, but with her hand on the door handle itself she paused, she could feel by the tension it was unlocked. She couldn’t quite believe that he would left it unlocked, in fact he always locked it. He had last night because she left with him.
Pulling out her gun from its place inside her coat, she placed her cup on the floor beside the door, needing both hands to get into the office. One on the handle one on the gun itself. She let Tseng prepare himself, before counting down. “3..2...1...” Then opening the door, gun raised to face whomever was in the room, of that person was still there.

Tseng moved down the hallway in Junon with his partner. With Edge still being in construction and the adjustments at the office, it seemed like a smarter idea to bunker down at Junon. The President was somewhere about the place with either Reno or Rude. Elena and Tseng had the night off for a change and it gave Tseng the much needed time to come in today and handle the small stack of paperwork he knew was waiting on him at his desk.
He was having the idol chat with Elena, who usually did most of their talking to be honest. So, he just had to nod and respond every once in a while. But, he did always listen to her. Even though he sometimes wished he could put a piece of tap over her mouth when she went off on one of her vocal escapades. The Director nodded at her statement about having a restful evening and he shook his head a bit in amusement. But, he didnt have a moment to reply as she moved to unlock the door.
It was honestly the smell of the cigarettes that gave it away. They were not Reno's brand.Reno's had a very distinct smell. There was someone on their floor. Tseng already had his gun drawn before Elena even noticed the door was unlocked. It had been locked the night before. Tseng had never left it unlocked a day in his life. Elena did the quiet count down for them before they opened the door, Tseng's gun trained directly on the man in his chair.
It only took a moment for the man to recognize Two Guns. It was not a face he could easily forget as he shut the door immediately once he realized who it was. The last thing anyone wanted was for Alex to be recognized by anyone else in the building. "Alex, what are you doing here? .... and please get your feet off my desk and put it out..." He frowned as he locked the office door before moving to open a window for smoke. He had reprimanded Reno for smoking in the offices here before. But that was for another time. Alex could get them all killed right now if Rufus walked in on them. Rufus believed that all but the three had died during the incident years back. The man wouldn't be here without a good reason. They're have to hear him out.

Alessandro was about halfway through his cigarette before he heard footsteps outside the office door. It sounded like two different walking patterns. One seemed to walk like he had a stick up his rear end, with stern and heavy footsteps. The other pair he heard was lighter and seemed to have a little bounce it it’s step. He chuckled quietly as he assumed the first pair of feet belonged to Tseng, but the other must be a newer Turk if it was someone with him. He didn’t quite recognize the pattern.
Now, he’s made no attempt to conceal his presence, because of Tseng opened the door to see a man at his desk it could end up with Alessandro having a new breathing hole. He heard the door handle fidget slightly and stop. They knew someone was inside. Alessandro, who was staring at the ceiling, looked down straight at the door as he tapped the top of his cigarette into the empty coffee mug on Tseng’s desk.
The door burst open as a pair of pistols pointed into each of Alex’s eyes. One definitely belonged to Tseng but the other was interesting. It belonged to a small blonde haired woman that was quite familiar as the little sister of fellow sharpshooter, Gun. Elena, he believed, was her name. It seemed like she followed in her sisters footsteps and joined the Turks after all.
”Tseng, you really need to hire a couple of new guards. I might as well have had a neon sign above my head as I walked in. I didn’t even see a guard til I got to this floor.”
At his request, Alessandro lifted his feet from the desk and placed them firmly on the ground as he leaned forward, pressing his cigarette into the empty coffee mug to extinguish the cherry at the tip.
”I see your sister got you a job easily enough, Elena. Now, Tseng, I think you know why I’m here. I need my job back. These bouncer jobs aren’t cutting it and I really don’t wanna go back to Corneo for work.”
Alessandro stood up, so Tseng could have his seat at his desk, and walked over to the far wall and leaned against it. As he had heard it, when WEAPON attacked Midgar, just before Meteorfall, Rufus had been killed. If the only reason he was living in the shadows was dead, then why couldn’t he resume life as a Turk and do what he was good at: protection.

Elena seemed a bit out of place, she recognised the man but she wasn’t to sure where from, it wasn’t till he made a comment about her sister that it clicked. The comment didn’t go unnoticed either. Elena hated when people assumed her sister got her the job; she didn’t simply get a job because of Gun. She worked hard, really hard, trained and even proved herself worthy of being a Turk. Even if Reno still teased her about being a Rookie, she didn’t feel like one anymore, she had spent night and day being tortured by Kadaj’s gang and she didn’t talk. She saved the presidents life along with Tseng on the roof tops of Midgar. Elena worked to hard for people to assume her sister got her a job.
Elena watched the man as he obeyed Tseng, moving his feet from the desk as he explained that he wanted a job, Elena put her gun away and moved to collect what she had placed on the floor outside the office and brought it inside and onto her smaller desk to the side of the room where she had been working the last few days. “I’m sure Rufus will be thrilled to know his alive..” Elena half said to herself as she started to put the papers in order; it wasn’t her place to get involved with the men. It was down to Tseng to make that choice; after all he was the leader of Turk still.

Alex had to start off with the snippy comments about security and Tseng shook his head a bit. It was quite obvious as they lacked the man power. They had the WRO assisting with a lot of the gaps, which was a welcomed relief. But, most were not trained properly. "I am fully aware. We've been a bit short since Meteorfall....and no one expected a Turk that doesnt exist anymore to be waltzing in the front door..." He responded as he watched the former turk closely, sighing as he put his cigarette out in the mug. That meant he had a bit of washing to do before he could have a fresh cup. "....I forgot how much worse you were than Reno..."
The comment about Gun getting Elena the job was certainly a touchy subject. He did half expect the rookie to say something. Especially since she had no idea who this man was. If she did, he'd honestly be surprised. Yet, she made no retort or acknowledgement of the statement. It was honestly a good thing. Alessandro was someone that Tseng would prefer to handle.
But, the subject about him returning to the Turks pulled him from his other thoughts. Was the man being completely serious. Tseng gave him an odd look. "....You can't. Rufus will have both our heads if he finds out you're not actually dead.... and second, Corneo is dead." Reno had handled the pig after he had kidnapped Elena a few years back. He was surprised that Alex was so far out of the loop.
Elena's comment about the president being thrilled made the Director shake his head. "...Very unlikely. Even short staffed. He'll figure out that Alessandro probably was not the only Turk we claimed dead...I do not see it going well." He explained as he moved to go and shut his office door.

| Sorry? Why, I've never had this much fun. | |
It was the nature of a beast to live as safely as possible, yet as reckless as able. It was a life of contradiction where survival means everything. To survive one had to be cautious of the dangers that slept around the corner, but one also needed to take the risks necessary to find that next scrap of food or secure a mate. Oft times one had to strike a balance and sign an accord with the devil to become the hunter rather than the hunter as the role could flip within a moment’s notice. Whether Alessandro was the hunter or hunted had yet to be seen. Up until Rufus’ hostile take over the Turks had been spoiled. Given toys to play with and surviving on the Gil of the company had led to the near collapse of every sector of Shinra’s self imposed government. Self imposed, appointed… whether or not their succession into the world's power as been attributed to their caution or recklessness it served as an ideal example to what all those born of Planet wanted… Power? Position? Peace…? The handful of Turks that had remained owed their lives to young Rufus, whether they knew it or not. Shinra had taken in these wretched youth, the gifted youth, the broken… and granted them all the power or become hunters, so long as they hunted for Shinra's cause. And these youth had owed everything to the company. Their alliances… assured only by their individual sense of self worth and honor. Powerful creeds, but still corruptible by their sense of greed and self importance. The weather had given Rufus a foul disposition. While Junon thrived on its geothermal plants, which still ran deep underwater, many of the ones supporting mako currents had been destroyed by Emerald WEAPON, leaving something to be desired of a changed infrastructure. Heat was channeled to the necessities, such as the main part itself and a the barracks. A few that could afford a bribe or two to shift heat from a few of the residential districts. After his long house arrest in Costa del Sol, Rufus had grown unused to the butter weather of Junon’s winter fronts which were further fed by the swirling hate left behind by Meteorfall. After fall everything seemed to get colder. Hotter. It was a change that was caused by the change in the Lifestream’s currents which were still remaining themselves and attempting to path way from the geysers ripped open by the mayhem. For about an hour Rufus had sat in his office, formerly of his father, bundled up in his white jacket. Beneath that he wore a black, turtleneck sweater and full fingered gloves, hands remaining tucked in his long, white pants pockets. In the stead of his usual work shoes he had a sturdier pair of black boots and a white scarf to hide to tie it together. Dark Nation lay at his feet, the Tentacle Hound even decked out in more wintry attire of a harness and earmuffs designed just for their kind. Rufus had come to Junon to handle the power issues. Sitting here in his chilly office, despite the running generators and direct connection to the Underwater plant’s source… it was lacking. While one Geothermal plant was operational, it has only supplied energy to the yards housing the submarines and a few select locations in Junon, excluding these offices, which annoyed him now that he had finished his meetings. Seemed sitting in a pauper's shoes did to put into perspective the needs of the people. The Turks were never far from Rufus, at least, in theory. If he was off in some Planet forsook jungle, they weren't far behind trying to keep up with the ambitious president. He sat listening to the weather, reports of the Lifestream's paths. On his computer that flickering screen, static a result of the interference the Lifestream posed on modern objects, he stared at the documents he had pulled up. Old files belonging to his father. Now that he had a few of his passwords figured out it became easier to piece together this man's spiral from power, from sanity. All and all evidence pointed to his father looking to become a god-king kept afloat by an infinite prosperity that simply did not exist in this world, and as they now knew: any. He had already seen the path of his crumbling infrastructure. The experiments held by Hojo, the instability of SOLDIERs and the limited flow of Lifestream they had access to. He knew and understood it all. That had what started his mad quest. His own mortality. Reading all of the files, all of the evidence right here in Junon’s files… even Scarlet seemed to have some sense of the impending doom surrounding the folly of man’s reach for power. It all put him in a bad mood. Hindsight was 20/20, but in this case it was cause for the collapse of society if ever leaked. Rufus glanced up to the corner of the screen as a green bar reached full. Ejecting the external storage device the executive would push to stand, Dark Nation raising their heads from the ground when the man moved. He pressed a single key. A prompt appeared on screen requesting confirmation that Rufus wished to wipe the contents of the server. He hesitated, covered finger hovering over the button. Dark Nation barked, feeling Rufus’ tension. He pushed down the button as the sweat broke from his brow. The heat kicked in with a turbulent clatter, the makeshift pipes having trouble pushing the superheated gas through the convectioning process. His lips pulled back in irritation as he scoffed, fingers tightening over the external. He slipped it into his jacket’s inner pocket. “ Tsk. Just as I'm leaving huh?” He gritted his teeth before turning to leave, not bothering to look back as the computer restarted, a black screen with the default background and no files save for the system’s base files. A blank slate, just as Meteorfall meant. He stopped at the door, Dark Nation keeping pace with its master. “ Just the framework, Nation.” The hound canted its head to the sound of his voice. “ We'll make it.” He said before heading out. He walked through the halls, features obscured by his scarf. He exhaled anchilled breathe, brows knitting together as he scowled at the conditions. The hall echoed with his steps, metal plates creaking as the season took its toll on the structure. Crossing one of the over street bridges the president made his way to the Turk’s office. There was so much to erase, so much to change. What he could depend on was Tuetsi’s goons taking care of Makou mutated beasts and policing any trouble, unknowingly quashing rebellions against that infrastructure his father spent his life building. These luxuries were so ingrained in their lives, being without them was torture. This thought made him smirk. At least he had the comfort knowing his father was wrong, until the very end. “ No kingdom lasts forever, but legacies… they are eternal. So we'll built a legacy Nation.” The hound gave an agreeing boof at its master, trotting along, it's sickle tail wagging. That boof was indication of his arrival just outside the door. The Tentacle Hound perked its ears and turned its nose toward the door. The beast began to growl, those tapered ears stiffening. Rufus pushed open the door, taking no step forward. Dark Nation lunged forward, nearly taking our Elena and Tseng in its charge. Tentacle Hounds were known for their speed and viciousness. If Alessandro made motion to move, it would give chase, but otherwise the beast would jump the table, land upon it and snarl at the Turk tucked away in the corner. Rufus reached up to lower his scarf from his face, blond strands fanned over his eyes. “ Something to warm up to?” He wondered, glancing between the individuals. His expression was far from entertained, as one would expect given Dark Nation’s reaction. ▲ 1,338 ● Tseng @lanetaka ● Surprise, surprise

Was it possible to overload on information in a little over a minute? Alessandro was about to find out. He was immediately informed that the President of Shin-Ra was very much alive. He thought Rufus died somewhere between a WEAPON attack and Meteorfall, but the details were sketchy. However, Alessandro took a moment to piece things together. If Rufus had survived the WEAPON's attack on Midgar then he easily could have gotten to a helicopter before Meteor became an issue.
Moreover, after Meteorfall, Shin-Ra's PR had taken a hit. They'd just spent billions of Gil to move the canon from Junon to Midgar only to still cost the lives of millions from Diamond WEAPON's attack. He was in the slums of Sector 4 when everything began to go down. It was a nightmare. He'd made it topside only to see hundreds dead simply from the falling debris of Shin-Ra's headquarters. Then, the media had uncovered the closing of the space program, which could have helped prepare for Meteor. Two Guns shook his head, hiding the astonishment from his face.
"Figures he'd still be kickin'. I bet he was the center of all that crazy action in Edge too."
He also had no idea that Corneo was actually gone. Sure, he'd only seen the underlings around the Honeybee Inn, but he just assumed that fat bastard had finally caught an STD and was too embarrassed to show his face. If you had to ask him, Alex would have said the world was better off without the Don.
"Corneo's gone, eh....good. Weasel was bound to do something stupid and get offed eventually. A birdy told me he had a small role in Sector 7's demo-"
Alessandro's sentence was cut short by the office door flying open and the familiar form of Dark Nation bounding onto Tseng's desk. There were two major reasons why he hadn't heard the president coming. First, he'd been focused on Tseng at the moment. Secondly, he quit paying attention to the outside because of the weak security force on this floor. They probably still didn't realize he was here.
As Alessandro looked out the door, a million thoughts went rushing through his head. Most of them were drowned out by the thought of Holy shit he's actually alive! He'd completely ignored Tseng warning him not to be seen, but it was kinda too late for that. In the next five minutes, Alessandro would either be dead or reinstated as a Turk. There was probably not going to be any middle ground here.
"So, I can see you're surprised. Let me just say, this is kind of a two way street. I thought you died in the WEAPON attack."
Alessandro didn't make a lot of movement, mostly because he didn't want Dark Nation fur all over his suit. He was here on an impromptu job interview and all. This was probably the biggest difference between himself and Reno. Reno would have flipped his lid if he were in Alex's shoes. Alessandro had seen enough strange things to know that anything could happen. He did manage to reach into his pocket and pull out another cigarette and his lighter. Stress always seemed to make him chain smoke.

Elena listened to the two men, she knew he place was to keep quiet, and she wasn’t really good at that most of the time. But this was between Tseng and Two Gun, besides if he commented on her being let into Turk because of her sister, she was sure her cheeks were going to puff out like a puff fish.
Elena had heard the footsteps coming; the pitter patter of Nations paws were always a give away. To most it was unheard, but that time period in Healing the blonde got used to the pups movement. The blonde didn’t have a chance to say anything, but gathering by Tseng’s face he didn’t miss the sound of the presidents footsteps. The leader of Turk had ears like a hawk has eyes. Nothing got passed him anymore.
“Tseng already asked you once to put it out.” Elena said, referring to Alex’s smoking, she didn’t even glance up from what she was reading, she knew to keep herself to herself. Sometimes comments like that just slipped out, she couldn’t help it. The hazel eyed Turk didn’t look up, she knew that either she was being ignored or someone was glaring at her; it was all she ever got lately. No one appreciated what she did, apart from Tseng. He had been by her side. Everyone else saw her as the same rookie that joint Turk last. Even in her own head she could feel herself talking to herself to much; eventually she glanced up to see what the men were talking about.

This week was certainly not Tseng's week. With the heating issue to start, Rufus had been overly annoying with his requests and tasks. It only made things more obvious that the President needed to hire a secretary. But, the man never seemed to listen to Tseng's recommendations on that matter. Alessandro's appearance was about to make things far worse for the Director. Rufus would not handle the knowledge well and it would all be blamed on Tseng one way or another. It would be for lying about all the Turk's death's during the Zirconiade incident. He knew what Rufus had told him while under arrest in the Turk's base back in the day. That Veld needed to die and it wouldn't hurt if a few of the other Turks that weren't as easy to assimilate didn't make it back. Though, only three making it back certainly did not please anyone. Had it not been for Rufus stepping in like promised, Tseng and the remaining Turks would have been 'decommissioned' by the other Directors and the former President. For the Turks, it would have meant their execution. Tseng simply never informed Rufus of his deception to keep the Turks safe, even after everything that happened. That was his first mistake.
Tseng was still in the middle of conversation with Alex though. "You're not wrong..." He replied to the statement about Rufus being in the middle of the action in Edge. What the former Turk did not know was that he'd jumped off a building, just to make things more interesting. Or, that's what Tseng told himself as he felt it was just an unnecessary risk for the President. But, he didn't add anything onto the initial statement. Alessandro did not need the details.
That's when he heard it. The patter of Dark Nation's footsteps. There was no hiding the former Turk now. This was exactly what he feared. His hand moved from closing the door and stepped to the side a bit as the creature pushed his way in, growling to warn of an odd presence to keep the President safe for danger. Tseng would only close his eyes and let out a defeated sigh. He wasn't sure if he wished for a swift death now or having to wait for the appropriate date in the future for it. It would depend on Rufus's mood how he handled the deception from years before. He didn't feel very optimistic with how the President was bundled up when he stepped in the Director's office behind his hound, the disapproval on his face as he commented about warming up.
That's when Alex began to speak up, probably digging his grave deeper as be began to light a cigarette again out of sheer panic, even if it didn't show on his face. They all knew this could end one of two ways, and no one felt very optimistic. "Alex...." He warned as Elena spoke up, stating exactly what he was thinking. Though, with the added 'shut up' in his tone. The former turk could get them all killed right now. The only person in the room that did not seem worried was Elena. She didn't even seem mad at the possibility that her sister might even be alive if Alessandro was. Tseng just needed to decide if he wanted to lie and say that not 'all' the Turks died in the blast. But then, he'd need to pick the ones that 'survived' and who 'died'. But things could be worse if one of the 'confirmed dead' Turks reemerged. Was it better to just come clean? Or lie to try and neutralize some of the frustration. Only Rufus's reaction would tell. ".......sir-" He started, knowing he was going to be cut off before he could explain.

Rufus had not thought twice of Dark Nation's actions so he had not even reached to stop them. If anything it was the hound's job to act on its training. Rufus, instead, would reach into his pocket with his left hand, right still on the doorknob. The executive took out his mobile phone to check the temperature. He seemed to swipe over the same spot a few times with this thumb Cold made waking the device hell, only adding to his weather born frustrations. When satisfied the hour in question had not passed he tucked the device away, head lifting up, a scarf tucked under his chin like a mother chocobo around a hatchling. It was Elena's voice that made him shift his focus to just what Dark Nation had pinned. Seeing that they were not yet a splattered mess in the corner of the office or a crumpled mess on the ground thanks to the Tentacle Hound's powerful sapping force, something interesting was afoot. Rufus’ face was paler than usual thanks to the drop in temperature and loss of direct sunlight. It made his piercing blue eyes stand out even more beneath his curtain of blonde, the edges having a curious green glow in the right light. His lip curled up enough for the edge to be visible just over the edge of his scarf, his eyes narrowing as his cheeks pushed up into a dangerous smile. The offensive aroma of Alessandro's fag reached his senses. For a moment his eye drifted to the fire alarm, the temptation to cool the three off strong, especially if the former Turk caught pneumonia and dropped dead. What kept his hands tucked away in his pockets was the fact he would be cold and wet after the fact. “ You thought I was dead? Me?” He chuckled, the deep, somewhat hoarse grunt growing into a full out laugh. In truth there has been times during Meteorfall that Rufus had given up and felt himself better off dead. Moments of weakness an understandable fault of his human condition, one of which he desired to be erased from his past. Alas one could not change the past, but there was nothing stopping him from seizing the future.while it was a reasonable assumption he could not help but feel the irony bubbling in his chest as laughter. It was not until Tseng attempted to speak up the executive turned his gaze toward him, like a father disappointed in his whelp. Excuses or not do… The executive shrugged his shoulders and took a step forward as his right hand slipped from his pocket. “ You thought I was dead, I thought you dead. I can only imagine what you've been up to in your… leisurely days living your full, uninterrupted life.” The slow, deliberate words of the executive painted his annoyance in a clear portrait that depicted levels of annoyance, confusion and aggravation. Far be it for him to find cause to be angry, though he has every right to be angry with Tseng at this point. He crossed his arms behind his back as he walked towards Elena. Dark Nation had not relented in its aggressive stand off. Whenever Alessandro moved, well Dark Nation's gnashing fangs and waving tentacle would follow. It was hard to discern Rufus’ steps as he came to loom over the shorter woman. Reaching out his hand he would attempt to clutch his slender digits on the underside of the greenhorn’s chin. He face would attempt to move uncomfortably close, his eyes staring down into her own. He exhaled, the cold apparent as it visibly cling to his breath. “ You're surprised too, aren't you? Were you around? Aware of the circumstances surrounding the Turk's less than stellar track record? No so I can trust you to not make the mistakes of your predecessors.” The digits, had they made contact, would have slid fe her chin. “ I feel a little hurt I wasn't invited to this reunion, after all we are all family in a sense, but --” there was that vile but. “ I'll need a reason not to let Dark Nation loose on what is, for all intents and purposes, a traitor. If we are rebuilding Shinra we need to be sure of he isn't here to continue Vled’s work.” Destroying Shinra always seemed the ever popular shtick. ▲

It looked like the cat was out of the bag...and standing on the desk ready to rip Alessandro's throat out. A lot had happened in the days since Wutai, but it didn't make Rufus any easier of a person to talk to. Truth was it was his daddy issues that put Alex in this precarious situation. Ignoring Elena's plea against smoking in the office, Alessandro took a long drag before he spoke to his former employer.
"Not a whole lot of leisure to be had. Its kinda hard to find a job when you're legally dead, and a lot of the dirty jobs died when Midgar did."
Alessandro needed to think real hard about how to best approach his former boss's son. He knew that both his own and Tseng's lives were hinging on his ability to not sound like an ass. He could almost see the fumes rising from him. It seemed to be more than the moment at hand. Something had already had the president in a foul mood before he arrived, or so Alex assumed.
"Truth is, I came to Tseng for help. He's as surprised I'm here as you are, I expect..."
Yeah, he would lie. That seemed to be the easiest approach. He would make it sound like he was lucky to not make it to the end, and tell a fib about receiving a near fatal wound. Something like this wouldn't leave a lot of evidence, and he would state that he lived in the shadows after hearing what happened to the rest of the Turks.
"I was left for dead in Midgar. Zirconaide hit me and I was unresponsive..took a nasty fall. When I came to, I nursed myself upright. When I heard what happened to the others...I stayed in the shadows."
Whether Rufus believed that or not remained to be seen, but, if they both killed here, this would certainly help him talk Tseng into putting Alessandro back on the payroll.

Elena was far from confused, Reno had made subtle comments to her before about the old Turks but she didn’t really listen to the redheads made up stories, surely if they were alive Tseng would of said something, anything right? The blonde watched the episode play out in front of her until Rufus’s attention moved onto her. His hand moved close to her face and then he used a single finger to life her chin. Of course she didn’t fight it. He was going to move her face up to his own anyway, and as long as he wasn’t going to kiss her, she knew she was safe from any harm. Then he questioned her. Like she would know? She joined after the fall of the Turks, after the death of her sister..
“I don’t kn... wait! Does that mean Gun’s alive?” Elena’s voice loud as she broke her face away from Rufus’s as she stood up, almost head butting the man, but she step back in time, knocking the chair on its wheels to roll backwards as she she stood, avoid head butting the blonde president. “Tseng is my sister alive?!” The women asked, her voice filled with emotions. If it was true how could he have hid it from her all this time. And if Gun was truly alive and out there why hadn’t she said anything.

Tseng was not quite sure what to do given the situation. It was a very tight rope and he had no idea what he should say. What was truly safe to state? It did not seem to be a win in either situation. The director did not see a way out of this either. He was between a rock and a hard place. His eyes on Rufus as the president laughed and made his back handed comment. The blonde business man could be quite arrogant when he wanted to be.
The thing that bothered him the most was the way that he moved toward Elena and caught her chin under his fingers. He had no idea why it bothered him half as much as it had. But, it did. The way she became bright read and flustered at his statement. He explained about the two being traitors and she being the only one that he could trust.
That is when Alex chimed in with his truth. But it would not be acceptable to Rufus. The only option would be to be honest. Explain that it was the only option that would favor them in the long run. "Alex, I appreciate the attempt...." He commented as he glanced at the man briefly before looking back to Rufus.
"Veld was only against your father and his actions, not ShinRa....and we did not quite trust your intent back then...the trust came over time.... that trust had been lost when your father turned against Veld. But you had said when we spoke that Veld needed to die... and the less Turks that made it out of the fight, the better it would be for the department's survival. That you would only be able to manage so much. So, I took advantage of Zirconiade's collapse and listed them appropriately... and it worked. The small council agreed with your sentiment and allowed the department to remain. The former Turks assisted during Meteorfall. But yes, they were all alive.... including Gun.... I'm not completely sure on all of them currently, but I believe most are still." He explained to the president as he watched the man closely. This was going to be a hard one. He was sure that Elena may still be angry at him for not informing her, letting her believe her sister was dead. This was just hard all around. His eyes on Elena briefly.
He was just really flustered himself. For Elena's reaction as well as the situation. But he did not see Rufus ending his life. He was far too useful. The mistake was years before and it was necessary. He needed the Turks to be safe and he was not sure that Rufus could be trusted till after he'd followed through on his word and saved the three remaining. He, Reno, and Rude.
"...Now do you want to discuss what you needed now? We can discuss the others later. They are not going anywhere..." He stated as he watched the President, seeming calm the entire time. This was going to be a close call and he prayed it actually worked.

| Sorry? Why, I've never had this much fun. | |
One thing Rufus hated more than incompetence, was excuses. Above that? Lies. Nothing wasted time more, than lies. At least fraud got you somewhere. It was a developed action and delivery that sought an end result, but the idle temptations of lies and their creators left one with a subtle inclination to return to older techniques of torture. A lie did naught but buy moments one could not secure under their own strength, intelligence. One could be thankful they did not live in such times any longer. Civility and understanding often seemed to stand at the cusp of what they called a modern world and yet, hand in hand, one faced the ruthless belittlement of betrayal and artifice that one often failed to understand just how little it took for a hero to become the very villain he sought to end. In that Rufus reminded himself that he would never become like his father. Rufus senior was a far cat who enjoyed, overmuch, to toy with his rats and snakes in the stead of killing them outright. Rufus has attempted that path and it only widened the bloody river his father carved from the bones of the Ancients and thousands of humans sacrificed to host the sea of his reckless hedonism and faceless fears. Oh how Rufus hated all of it and yet was damned to depend upon such vices. While it was part of the Turk’s repertoire to know the basics of subterfuge, infiltration, and negotiation, Alessandro only seemed to be making excuses and branding his critical failures as simple folly. Your whole department tries to assassinate the former President and your whole unit is burned, but tis a mere inconvenience that you're dead…? The blonde haired man would cross his arms over his chest, head lowering so those sharp, blue eyes would be able to leer in Alessandro's direction through his parted bangs, the curtain of blonde silk doing little to fend off the burning old that dried his eyes. Rufus would smirk. A corner of his lip would curl as he scoffed: a cynical laugh swallowed by his disbelief. No, perhaps it was more a sense of amusement rumbling through as he contemplated the sheer irony to Alessandro's confession. It did to remind him of the times he spent after Meteorfall accepting his death… He had approached Elena due to the fact she was the only one fool enough to tell him the truth. Fool? No the woman was more earnest. While she would likely deny it she is a lot like Reno on that sense. Despite his loathsome tendency to be a layabout he got his work done and he did so with a ferocity that no SOLDIER had ever produced in their lifetime of commission. No longer able to resist the cold his arms would once again cross over his chest as his face tucked back behind his scarf. What an unbearable season. As Tseng danced through his explanation the look of amusement glittering in the president's eyes only seemed to increase. When done Rufus scoffed at Tseng’s last query. “ What I needed? Well that has since increased since my arrival. While my original purpose for crossing this arctic port was to discuss with you some solutions for the energy crisis I have gained even more interest in flushing out what was left of the Turks.” It was amusing. Prior looking over those files he was assured that there was little left they could do to restore Junon to its full, working capacity for at least another year. But if those files were right, and by his mental calculations it should only come them half that calendar time and cost. They had the technology to refit Junon’s power system, but lacked resources after Meterofall with the majority of steel production slowed due to her loss of Makou Energy. It left only a few, offshore producers, with business whom once had next to none due to the production speed between traditional energy and Makou. “ I need you to oversee a project I am going to start, what with splinter groups trying to undo Shinra's reconstruction efforts to rebuild society I need you and yours.” He submitted. “ I'm going to have the decommissioned makou reactors refitted into geothermal reactors. But in order to do so we need engineers and once word gets out we invite the rabble.” So any rats looking to ride the ships into Junon's more secured areas can be exterminated. Tseng's admittance only did to give the president power because with this information he was able to formulate a plan regarding the former public relations crew. He kept his arm rest over Elena's shoulders, his hand held in a partially clenched fist. There was no doubt it hat the woman was upset or possibly unsteady so there he stood as an anchor, leaning forward with his free hand tucked in his pants pocket. Dark Nation folded back it's hear before it would pivot to turn, moving to sit itself beside Tseng, panting. It's stubby, bladed tail wagged. The unarmored Tentacle Hound no longer on alert by some verbal command Rufus slipped into his following speech. Yes, so Alessandro wished for a job? He looked to the man with his brow arched and lip curled into a smirk beneath his scarf. “ Depending on whether or no Tseng officially decommissioned you in records I could offer you a task, if you wish to return to your duties. I can only hope death has not slowed you down in any way.” Considering a Turk’s training. ▲
