Gemini had taken the reins on reconstruction of the device used for traveling worlds for now. It was "working", but...It wasn't a fool-proof system yet. For the most part all it could do at the moment is send her to a random world, then bring her back to Radiant Garden after an elapsed time. She was still so far off from reaching home, but yet growing closer every day. Once she could confirm they were safe, she could relax... But on the bright side, her recent arrival in Christmas Town taught her the basics on going toe-to-toe with the shadowy foes she would no doubt be dealing with frequently from here-on. Especially now that they got a taste of her danger to them. But part of her almost had to wonder if all of that was just a dream...It was so surreal. Arriving in a strange world after answering a letter, meeting up with four strange heroes from different backgrounds...It almost seemed like a distant vision, and yet she had proof it was real: The letter was still with her. Though it had lost it's mystical aura, the message was the same: A call for help, one Ayami is now absolutely certain she had answered. - She was never the type to shy away from assisting those in need whenever she could offer the proper help. Still, knowing it had really happened, and with the recent stresses on her shoulders, she thought that getting out and seeing what all Radiant Garden had to offer would be a nice "reward" for her efforts. She wandered the streets, looking at shops that had been closed for some time, shops that were being rebuilt and soon to be opened once more, and other businesses that were reopened with the rebirth of this city. One in particular caught her eye: A bar...? Well, she did tend to enjoy a drink among friends, though...She didn't figure Zeni to be much of a drinker, and Gemini was busy, she thought it over for a moment - Was it really worth it? For a moment, her mind actually shifted too far towards simply continuing on, she had too much to focus on right now, a drink would've just dulled her senses too much... But, as she began walking away, she spotted someone through the window, someone familiar...And she backed up, placing her hands and face against the glass window and grinning like an idiot, staring directly at Alexander. Her words were muffled as she pressed her mouth against the glass, but one could vaguely make out the words..."Mlexndr!!! ish me 'yammy!!! hiiii!"------ Alexander Sorel

[attr="class","ohlove"] [attr="class","lacking"] [attr="class","eyes"]✎ tag: Ayami✉ notes: incoming scene maker There's a wall that's towering over me if i try to climb it will i succeed? That whole affair had been a load of crock. Fat paycheck, then he came back with a fat full of nothing. Really, in truth, considering just how fantastical it was, it was pretty easy for him to just write the whole thing off as a dream after getting sufficiently drunk enough. That was kind of impressive to him, he didn't know he could even get that drunk anymore, he thought he'd long since built up a strong tolerance. So he did what he always did, got up, cleaned himself off, got his uniform on, and went to work. That was what he did, that was what he always did, that was familiar to him.
Like he could stand up to the Heartless. He really should've known that was a dream to begin with. He would've gotten his ass killed had he tried that for real. It was a good dream, at least. He tried not to let it sit on his mind as he finished stirring up another drink before pushing it out onto the counter. It was only when he heard something slapping against the glass and vaguely garbled nonsense (he thought he heard Xander), that he slowly turned his head to see what was going on, and it seemed like nothing really happened there.
See, that's the thing about Bartenders. They seem unflappable, unphased no matter the situation, always calm, always collected. But the simple truth is it's something they learn to do. In a bar you see it all, so they just get really good at hiding. They may stoically raise a hand slightly in a sort of wave with, and all with a straight face to boot, as Alex was doing in response to Ayami, but inwardly they might be freaking out just a bit, as Alex was doing in response to Ayami. Seriously, what the hell? He didn't recall meeting her before this, save for that dream, maybe he bumped into her on the street or something? Well, he certainly seemed to be doing alright given his response to seeing her! She was certainly glad to see that battle didn't shake him too badly. She could recall just how full of fear he had been at the start of it, and she couldn't help but feel pity for him. Not the kind of pity you'd give to a pathetic scene, but rather pity you'd give to someone genuinely having a rough time of it. A sort of calm sympathy. Still, knowing that after the battle he had just gone right back to his seemingly normal lifestyle was certainly a good outcome.
After a second she freed herself from the glass window, walking out of sight momentarily before the front door opened, ringing the little bell above it. She stepped out of the bright afternoon sun into the dimmer, more atmospheric lighting of the bar, approaching the barkeep calmly before taking a seat."So!"She'd lean forward a bit, grinning before continuing."I hope you don't mind, but once we got back, you kinda...Passed out from exhaustion. I asked around to find out where you lived, and carried you to your home. I didn't really wanna just leave you laying there in the street. It's uh...Kinda rough to sleep on, speaking from experience."If there were still any doubts about the validity of that battle, her words were slowly starting to tear all of that down, indeed she sat there, recalling details as though telling of a grand story. And her grin confirmed that she was definitely proud of the combat experience. She didn't really order a drink though. She was far too busy conversing with the staff in this case. The mechanic tended to prefer company over drink a majority of the time. Friendships forged through hardships were special to her, she never had many of those... So every single one was like a treasure, in a way."But you seem okay now! Did you get anything for it, by the way? When I woke up today, I had this weird snowball that wont melt. Oh, lemme show you..."She reached into a pack she was carrying on her belt, and soon pulled out a perfectly rolled up ball of snow, indeed just as she had said; it didn't melt nor even leave a single drop of water as she sat it down on the bar between the two. She looked back up at him with pure excitement in her eyes, waiting to see his reaction to it."Pretty cool huh?! Ed'c naymmo femt! E ghaf dra chuf eh dryd bmyla fyc cbaleym, pid fuf!!!"She had kinda started to trail off, rambling in her native tongue... But that was pretty natural for her, a quick snap back to reality would certainly stop her from continuing the speak that Alexander likely couldn't understand. But with all she had said, and then the snow to top it all off, at this point there was very little doubt that their battle was "Just a dream".------ Alexander Sorel

[attr="class","ohlove"] [attr="class","lacking"] [attr="class","eyes"]✎ tag: Ayami✉ notes: oh boy There's a wall that's towering over me if i try to climb it will i succeed? And then she ran in. Was she even old enough to be in here? He wasn't going to be caught serving alcohol to a minor, well, under twenty-one anyway, and she sure didn't look twenty-one. He managed to keep his calm as best he could, especially when she actually started recounting the tale and it was matching his own dream. Really, he considered it an absolute testament to his ability to keep a straight face that he didn't just... break. Everything that had happened was real, that snowball, the Heartless, by everything that he held dear. The Heartless, the full reality of that night actually hit him.
He'd actually tried to take on the Heartless.
He had to have been drunk. What was he thinking?
Still, when he looked down at the snowball, he thought back to the one he'd stored in his freezer. He never figured out what he was doing with it, but it was just a strange feeling. Which also led to one other thing. A small crack in his stoic demeanor. Santa was real alright, "I am going to kill the fat man..." And he was also a conman. Alex growled just a little, the most emotion he'd shown so far. Maybe he should have been happy he even survived that, but that just also reminded him that Santa was overall an awful cactus. He'd have to deal with that in some way, he could figure somethng out there.
He also had no idea what she said at the end there.
"Ayami, right?" He spoke to her, his demeanor back in place. He meant no offense to her, truly, but he was kind of on the job, he had to be a stone wall for the moment. "How in the world were you able to carry me?" He had to admit there was some curiosity there. She seemed to be a small little thing, at least compared to him, so it was more curiosity than anything. While his calm demeanor was certainly starting to crack, Ayami was either too preoccupied - Or indeed too naive to actually notice the subtle changes as his "Dream" was revealed to be anything but. She didn't even notice his comment about "killing the fat man", though what did finally get her attention was him asking if he had her name correct. She gave an excitable nod, responding rather quickly to that and his question."You got it right! Oh, how I carried you home? Well...When you work around heavy machinery all the time you kinda learn lifting tricks. You'd be amazed what you can carry if you get just the right grip on it! Like you, all I had to do was get you up onto my back and lean forward a little! I could show you a few of those tricks sometimes if you wanted."Indeed she had lifted a lot of heavy machines, and while it wasn't often enough to build some absolute muscle mass, given they also have specialized equipment for carrying some of the heavier things, there was still the odd moment now and then where one might have to lift an engine, or perhaps a piece of solid scrap steel. It was all in the grip and lift, after all. She'd made a lot of hand gestures trying to show him what she meant by lifting him onto her back, but really it did little to cover the fact that she essentially just gave the barkeep a piggyback ride all the way home."Still! I was glad to help someone with that much bravery. I can't believe the way you were getting up in their faces! Don't ever try to do that with a fiend though, they'll uh...Not sit there and take it."Friendly advice for if he ever found himself in Spira, fiends were a touch different from the heartless, though seemingly existed from a similar concept. Though they weren't much different, there was still enough of a distinction that fighting a heartless may not be quite the same as fighting one of them. Heartless were single-track minded towards consuming hearts, and light. Fiends were simply feral beings intent on taking out their rage and despair on those around them. Though, she supposed he might not know anything about them, so quickly changed the subject."So you work here? This is a pretty nice place! Do you have any friends? Can I meet them?! I bet they're cool!"Her optimism and excitement was incontainable no matter what one tried. Even if she might've...Been distracting him from work. She wasn't exactly aware of such a fact.------ Alexander Sorel

[attr="class","ohlove"] [attr="class","lacking"] [attr="class","eyes"]✎ tag: Ayami ✉ notes: [internal screaming] AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA He had to admit, he was actually kind of impressed by that. It wasn't just weight, but anatomy as well. Alex was a tall dude, though he wouldn't say he was lanky, he made sure to keep himself in shape, it brought in business to be a well dressed bartender in good shape! Still, he imagined it would have been more awkward for the girl to handle him. Though wasn't there someone else with her? Maybe they helped her, still, he should probably show some gratitude. But how to do that. She didn't look old enough to drink, he'd card her at least. He wondered if that would be a compliment or an insult, whatever.
He began cleaning a glass as she continued to explain. He stopped for a brief second when she mentioned that was how she handled technology, but then he went right back to cleaning a glass. It would be closing time soon, so he just had to keep himself calm until then, but there was a part of him that, deep inside, well... What kind of savage would so boorishly lug around such delicate technology? That was why you got a dolley or something. If you couldn't reliably haul it by hand, then you got something that you had better control over! Really now!
Brave though, well. "Wasn't bravery." He shook his head. "If you watched, whenever they did that... spaz, thing, the snow just in front of them would remain undisturbed. I just went to the safest spot." He shrugged, if anything, he was kind of chickening out by doing that. She listened to him speak about his strategy. About how it wasn't brave to rush forward into that darkball's blind spot. While some might have seen it that way, she didn't. She shook her head, reaching her arm out across the counter to give him a pat on the shoulder, looking him straight in the eye."You say that much, but to get to that safe spot, you had to rush through it's wild flailing first. Bravery isn't the absence of fear; It's accepting that you're afraid and fighting through it!"She'd give a firm nod, her eyes practically sparkling with enthusiasm. "Bland and uninspired" as her statement on bravery might've been, it was truly how she felt about the situation. She witnessed what all he had done back there - Maybe he could have called it just doing what was needed, but without his help she would've been in some pretty rough spots more than a few times during that fight. Whether he wanted to admit it or not, Ayami definitely admired what he had accomplished, viewing him as a respected ally."Besides! You joined me in taunting that beast with the shield! Even though we were directly in it's line of sight, you stood your ground. I think you even killed a couple of them on your own! Not just anyone can do those kinds of things y'know. I know more than a few people back home who would have hesitated. To attack, to stand by someone, to...Well, even just stand their ground."Despite it all, her words were genuine. Not in the way a person would suck up to someone to earn brownie points, but honest complements. Perhaps it wasn't what he wanted to hear regardless, but she was never one to hold back on what she thought, open communication was a priority to her - Even at times where it caused more than a few...problems. Though, when she noticed the cracks showing through his calm demeanor, she tilted her head in confusion."You okay there? You're starting to look a little pale."------ Alexander Sorel
