Tournament Reviews This template is to be used for all Tournament reviews. It is the same form that staff uses. Please copy and paste the code from the bottom into the appropriate match review thread that has been created by the staff. Please do not create your own thread. You cannot review a thread that your character participated in. For every knowledgeable and well written review, you will gain 20 munny to the character account you post the review with. You may only post one review per thread. Please be sure that your review is detailed and informed. Site Rules still apply to raid reviews, so be polite and respectful. Everything a member posts is to be read as constructive criticism and is not to be taken as an attack. Any issues should be reported directly to a staff member. Damage Inflicted and Taken: What powers were used and what damage taken should be reviewed here, as well as the effects of any powers used. Basically, which side dealt more and which side took more damage. Key Points:- Overall damage inflicted
- Strategic use of items
- Overall combative dominance
Questions to Ask Yourself:How much damage would that skill have inflicted on the target? Would a skill be super effective against the character, such as using a potion against someone inflicted with zombie. Who caused the most damage? Which side would have probably won the fight. Skill and Style: This isn't for it being well written, but the creative style and effect of their strategy and if it also had a imaginative visual. Key Points:- In-Character Combat Style
- Skills used wisely
- Use of weaknesses and strength
Questions to Ask Yourself: Did the member stick to their character's fighting style? Did they set them up in a way that would have been hard to defend against? Did that character use their unique/individual fighting style, or 'X-factor' to their best advantage? Did they use their known written powers in such a way that they normally wouldn't use them? Did someone feel out-of-character? Who controlled the battle? Who was more dominant with how the flow of battle went against the other? Did a character seem to be reacting to attacks more than being the one to inflict them? Did one player keep the other on their toes more than the other? Did one character seemed more defensive, calm and collected than the other? Did one person execute an ingenious strategy to win? Did one character identify the other's weaknesses or use their opponent's strength against them? Did a character start at a loss, only to turn it around and gain the flow and control of the battle in their favor? Did a character seem to just use attacks and throw them at the opponent, or used them in a way that was hard for the opponent to fight/defend/counter against? Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: How well did the member write and describe their actions and surroundings. This also includes if a character did not explain themselves or were not justified in their movements or dodging. Key Points:- Stayed In-Character
- Easy to Understand
- Overall fairness
Questions to ask yourself: Did they justify certain movements and their character's fight style? Whether their post was short or long, where they able to explain their actions to the reader and get their point across? Did you question any actions or abilities a character did make? How well did you understand their writing? Did they dodge an attack that should have otherwise harmed them? Did they ignore or shrugged off attacks or write that the attacks had no effect on them? Did they seem to know something about their opponent that otherwise their character wouldn't know? Did a character do something you felt was not fair or use a power not listed/misuse a power listed on their application? Who had the best sportsmanship, and was fair to the other team in taking damage? Did someone take a hit that they probably could have dodged? Did a team take hits that they knew they couldn't dodge realistically? Template Damage Inflicted and Taken: [blockquote]Reasoning goes here, please show your work on how you made your decision.[/blockquote] [div align="center"][******Winner******][/div] Skill and Style: [blockquote]Reasoning goes here, please show your work on how you made your decision.[/blockquote] [div align="center"][******Winner******][/div] Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: [blockquote]Reasoning goes here, please show your work on how you made your decision.[/blockquote] [div align="center"][******Winner******][/div] [div align="center"]Raid Winner: ***** Winner ******[/div] insert code here Note: Xigbar will continue the tournament in Lea's place after this round, if Alma and Lea are victorious.

Damage Inflicted and Taken: Almost from the start, Ramza and Crowe were on the offensive and landing major blows on Alma and Lea. Alma's use of stoneskin early on was definitely helpful, but she (the white mage) seemed to be the only one reliably landing hits as well. Through the entire thread, Crowe was dealing the majority of the actual damage, followed mostly by Alma. In part this is due to what I'll be talking about later, but for sheer damage (both given and taken, sorry Ramza) this goes to... [******Crowe/Ramza******] Skill and Style: As mentioned, both Lea and Ramza were really, REALLY hard to pin down this fight. Ramza was mostly harrying and supporting Crowe, which fits of what I recall of his unique Squire class from Tactics. He landed not one, but several Rock Throws and successfully kept enough pressure on Lea to force the Flurry to focus on him instead of Crowe, which might have been a much more straightforward matchup. He also played to his chivalry rather well, I felt. Lea meanwhile was as slippery as a greased eel. Nearly every one of his offensive actions also included a dodge, and he was quick to put himself in the way of anything he thought he might be able to take better than Alma. He fought quite a bit like his own Assassin Nobodies did, which is fitting, and honestly it felt like the only real way to inflict lasting damage on him was going to be to use never-miss or AoE spells, which it felt like Ramza and Crowe just didn't have. Lea and Ramza were definitely running this show, even if Crowe and Alma were doing most of the damage. If the fight had continued another few posts it might've been anyone's game, but as it stands I have to give this one to... [******Ramza/Crowe******] Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: Hoo boy. To start off, Crowe's writing style here is awesome. Just the right amount of description and enough clarity to see what's going down, without bogging it down with minutiae that may have confused more than helped. I feel like she could maybe use a smidge more description in the OOC areas of her posts to back up what some of her statuses do for those of us who might not be familiar with XV, but I was able to follow most of them easily enough. Crowe was left mostly alone, but took what hits she was given and justified the ones that she could safely ignore or counter. Alma, again, was very descriptive. All of her spells and actions were clearly described and we got a pretty decent peek behind the screen. She played up her lack of confidence until she realized her situation was too dire to hesitate, and after that her movements and attacks all seemed less coordinated and thought through, which fit the situation. She again took every hit that was aimed at her, and justified her being able to stand up afterward for the most part, and the only reason there was any confusion about her keystone ability here (Aeropool more or less forced the strategies the opponents were using) was that she probably could have stood to, again, give a reminder in the OOC section of the post as to what it did, exactly. Of note, her status indicators in that OOC area were a GODSEND for knowing who was under what status. I may shamelessly steal her format. Ramza...has a really strong defensive ability in Rush. I feel like he was maybe dodging more than attacking, but as previously mentioned his Squire class was support-focused in Tactics. He stuck to his guns about not attacking Alma, who reasonably reminded him enough of his sister to give him pause and even justify him defending her at one point from one of Lea's attacks gone rogue. His positional descriptions were a smidge puzzling, but I think part of that was him trying to react to Alma and Lea and not quite parsing what they were trying to accomplish. He clarified this in his posts with positional maps, but this category is more about the writing aspect. Lea was, as previously mentioned, slippery. His descriptions were true to form for the former Nobody, and it felt like the boss fight against him all over again. He was hard to pin down, hard to follow, and hard to hit. But I worry that that might not be the best sort of thing for PvP threads. That said, also like his KHII battle, none of his attacks (barring explosion) were particularly dangerous alone, even without their effects being suppressed for part of the thread, and they often hit ally and enemy alike. This category is harder than the other two because I feel all four did a good job here. [******Draw******] Raid Winner: ***** Ramza/Crowe ******

Review number 3! And still as honest as can be, I started the read here hoping for a match as good as review number 2's match was. Damage Inflicted and Taken: This was a pretty good match, though the rates of evasion felt a touch higher for characters not particularly known for being evasive--especially not for extended periods of time. Axel's fights in KH2 show that while he can be dodgy and fast in bursts, he gets tuckered out and has to rest sometimes. That coupled with the fact that he's one of the more fragile members (defensively, not offensively), and you get a very unusual situation here where he's being a tank and not taking much damage. Meanwhile the other side is doing a very, very impressive cycle of attack and support, showing off some impressive moves and improvised teamwork. [******Crowe/Ramza******] Skill and Style: From the onset of the match, it was clear who had the advantage here. Crowe and Ramza were dominating forces, despite Lea's best efforts to try and cover for everything and some clever moves from Alma. After a certain point, it became clear to me that one side was on the way to eclipsing the other in battle effectiveness and style, as well as keeping to their respective character strengths and abilities. [******Crowe/Ramza******] Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: Everyone did relatively well in this situation in terms of description. For the most part there was nothing wild that needed more exposition than what we got from the posts, and as for sportsmanship, aside from what I mentioned before of characters being a little too evasive, everyone was relatively fair. Though I ultimately still have to give this one to the dominating team for Crowe carrying a lot of this match. [******Crowe/Ramza******] Raid Winner:

Damage Inflicted and Taken: I noticed that most my co-reveiwers thus far largely discounted the contribution of healing and mitigation in the fight, which seems unfair to our resident white mage (if I’m mistaken and healing/mitigation is to be entirely discounted in this section, then my bad) I certainly agree that Crowe and Ramza largely dictated the flow of the battle, with Lea and Alma being kept largely on the defensive. Crowe and Alma had the most discernible impact on the battle (sorry wrestling-boys) though in different ways. One salient point that I see surprisingly unmentioned thus far is that Lea and Alma actually managed to knock one of their opponents out, which seems a rather telling indicator of damage dealt. Sure, it might’ve have been evened out later, but the battle ended before then. Therefore I give this section to Alma and Lea. [******Winner Lea and Alma******] Skill and Style: There seems to be some disagreement amongst my co-reviewers whether Lea’s strategy is or is not in character/ fits into abstract RPG vernacular. As I have major qualms about telling other people how to play their characters, I am opting out of that aspect of the discussion entirely.
Regardless, both Lea and Ramza kept to a very evasive style despite their efforts largely negating one another. Lea’s theme as described in narrative was dancing and his style kept to that well. Crowe gave a good warmage vibe, and used Wall in a manner that both strategically effective and fair. Alma used her limited arsenal very effectively and managed to influence the flow of battle in a terrain-altering fashion that i’ve rarely seen used on site. Even though heedlessly focus firing Alma was the right call strategically, Ramza kept in character and relentlessly harried Lea in stead. However, Ramza and Crowe overall had more cohesion in their strategy and coordinated more effectively, and thus my vote for this section does to them.
[******Winner Crowe and Ramza******] Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: We had some pretty writers all around, albeit of different styles. I try not hold up one style above others, and see equal equal merit in Ramza’s quixotic narrative, Lea’s stream of conciseness, Alma’s very informative attention to detail, and Crowe’s efficacious middle-ground. The talent of all those involved is undeniable, especially when describing some maneuvers that got extremely complex at some points.
One area I definitely agree with my co-reviewers on is the dodge-spam getting out of control for a bit there. Just because something happens in the games doesn’t necessarily mean it’s suited to a PVP thread. Mogrid cogently brought this up already, so i won’t belabor the point. However I will point out that while Lea’s abilities at least had cooldowns, Rush at 0 cooldown is being interpreted rather generously to say the least. Sportsmanship moments of note where Lea keeping in character by being not as proficient with his keyblade and Ramza going all the way on Alma’s sister resemblance. Overall I found this section to be the closest. However Crowe tips it over the edge for me, as they took all but one hit aimed at them and didn’t assume they automatically knew what others attacks did, going so far as to test Alma’s spells to find out.

Damage Inflicted and Taken: So, right from the start, I will say that Crowe and Ramza took control of the battle’s pacing, Crowe dished out an impressive amount of punishment, making usage of her unique abilities that helped secured her spot within the Kingsglaive. I’d also like to add that Ramza did an effective job at supporting his comrade-in-arms, remaining true to Ramza’s nature throughout the duration of Final Fantasy Tactics. However, on the other side, we have Alma, whom made use of her defensive, curative and offensive magick to effectively mitigate a fair share of damage. So in this category, I am going to label it as a Draw if for no other reason that I agree with Blaise’ sentiment regarding the damage mitigation.
[******DRAW******] Skill and Style:
So, I personally was a fan of how Crowe and Ramza utilized their abilities to augment one another effectively. I will say that Crowe's ability to dual cast was quite useful and permitted her to bombard her foes with a plethora of magick relatively fast. I did like how Lea's flavorful and unorthodox approach at times helped him manuever the battlefield and escape being struck. In addition, Alma's ability to keep enemies at bay through use of her Aero-spells and her diligent healing to keep both herself and Lea in the midst was definitely impressive. Personally, I would of liked to see Ramza and Lea both take more offensive roles. None the less, I definitely felt like there was more synergy between Ramza and Crowe and as such I am awarding it to them.
[******Crowe and Ramza******] Descriptive Writing and Sportsmanship: So on this aspect, I definitely appreciated the fact that the combatants took the time to draw out miniature maps, which helped add an almost a 3-D dimension to the battlefield. Now when it comes to quality of content, I applaud Crowe for their ability to portray a tactical warmage without added fluff, their posts were just the right mix of detailed and concision - making for a very smooth read. Ramza, their posts while not always lengthy did give an adequate portrayal of his inner thoughts and interactions with the surrounding. Lea and Alma, both of them did exceptional as well in my opinon. Now, I will say that on the front of sportsmanship, that I felt that both teams were very fair in the damage dealt and suffered, neither seemed to be particularly resentful or bitter over turn of events.
