Mordred walked through the Third District of Traverse Town, ignoring the warnings of the people in First District. They stayed in that District out of fear of the Heartless. However, Mordred had no fear of the Heartless. Since caging his Heart, Mordred could and would not allow himself to feel any emotions, let alone fear. On top of that, he was a Nobody, a being that could be barely said to exist. His fractured, piecemeal Heart would have trouble drawing any Heartless to him. Not that it was impossible for him to be attacked by the Heartless, as even a starving man will eat the very dirt beneath his feet to gain sustenance. However, he could be assured that he would not be attacked immediately. Such was one of the perks of walking the edge in-between. As for why he was in this world that took in refugees from other, destroyed worlds, he had heard of great wizard of immense magical power. Such a being would have to have a Heart of great power. Surely, one such as him would make for a good Catalyst. Mordred learned that a home was on the other side of a mysterious door. Mordred searched the Third District and quickly found, in the back of the district, a barrier with an emblem of a raging fire on it. There was no knob nor any indication that it could be opened. Mordred ran his hand over the door, feeling the cold stone under his fingers. He then reared back and punched the door, a loud thud echoing across the District. However, the barrier refused to give away. It would seem Mordred had no other way to bypass what was clearly a magical door that needed to have fire cast upon it.
While Mordred could use his Voidsuit to bypass the door, was it truly worth wasting his true power on this? There wasn't even any indication that this wizard lived in the home beyond the door or even if he truly existed in the first place. No, Mordred would have to investigate the rest of this world before leaping to any conclusions. Mordred turned and walked back into the open plaza of Third District, the Lady and the Tramp fountain giving the area serene quality as the water trickled out of the spouts. However, it soon became far less peaceful as Shadow Heartless rose up from the ground, followed closely by a few Soldier Heartless. Mordred was quickly sounded by his adversaries, the Heartless apparently taking more of an interest in the Nobody than he would've liked. Mordred adjusted his glasses, pushing them further back on the bridge of his nose. "Mindless Heartless. Do you starve for Hearts that much? I fear I will not oblige your ceaseless hunger. One Shadow leaped at Mordred and was met with a roundhouse kick, quickly disappearing. A Soldier then launched a flying spin kick and Mordred managed to grab the soldier's leg and threw it at another Soldier. Unfortunately they were a bit tougher so both of them got up after their little tumble.

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"]❝ Rina watched from a distance as the blonde man below began to fight off a handful of heartless. He seemed to be able to handle himself very well, so Rina kept herself hidden. She was standing against the ledge closest to what the locals called the Small House. Rina remembered this place from her childhood years. Her and some of the other children who had lost their homes would come here and they would all play for hour and hours before going back to the orphanage. A small and sad smile graced Rina’s face, before slipping quickly away. It’s time to focus, Rina. Focus on your mission.
Maleficent had sent Rina on a hunt to find some bigger and badder Heartless for her dark mistress to control and Rina knew just which one to track down. She just hoped it was still around.

Soon, Mordred stood alone again in the district. Well, him and the Soldier whose helmeted head he was slowly crushing in his hand. It flailed wildly but impotently against Mordred's grasp. However, something else had taken his attention. There was another here, one with a Heart. Mordred tapped the side of his glasses and immediately information appeared before him. He looked around and saw the Heart on a ledge near a small, abandoned house. Another potential Heart to acquire for Eden couldn't be wasted, especially with the Heartless out in full force. If that Heart succumbed to the Heartless, it would be lost forever. Mordred finally crushed the Heartless in his grasp, a puff of Darkness its only remaining vestige in this world, he calmly walked up the stairs and over to the house, making as if to go inside. However, he then jumped from where he was onto the ledge, balancing himself on the railing. He looked down to find a girl there. Mordred cocked his head, his soulless red eyes staring at her. "Enjoying the view?" He didn't much care if he had scared the girl. In a few minutes, she wouldn't fear anything ever again.
"Why are you out here? It is dangerous for you, you know. The Heartless infest the areas outside town like locusts. Are you... looking for someone, perhaps... or something?" Mordred idly wondered if she knew where this wizard was, if he no longer lived here. The Nobody continued to stare at the girl. Her Heart, now that he was closer was a bit more intriguing. "Hmph... your Heart struggles to shine. It fights to do away with a Darkness alien to it. Why do you fight? Many of those who bear Hearts succumb so easily to the Darkness. Do you fear it?" Mordred asked a rather honest question, not exactly trying to be sarcastic. His research of the Heart continued unabated, though it had been ages since he learned anything profound. He didn't think he'd do so here but it never hurt to check.

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"]❝ Rina continued to observe the man fight until his enemies were gone. But as soon as they were gone he seemed to take an interest in his surroundings. Rina figured the man had sensed her presence and was looking for her. That was fine. She could take care of herself if the need presented itself. Rina didn’t want to fight though. Her heart wasn’t in it anymore. Even though Maleficent had granted her the powers that she had always longed for, the servitude to Maleficent was wearing on her already weary soul. She wanted out. This life that she was leading was no better than the life that she had left behind. She wanted out, but knew it was almost near impossible to find a way out of Maleficent’s grasp. With a dejected sigh, Rina kicked her booted feet against the wall. What am I even doing? While she sat there in her moping state, Rina felt the man come up behind her on the railing.“Enjoying the view?”Rina took a minute to look at the stranger. He was blonde and kind of handsome with glasses resting on his face. There was something that seemed off about him though. Rina couldn’t quite place her finger on it. She wasn’t sure he was entirely human. “Oh. It’s alright. You were putting up a good fight down there.” After she finished speaking the man assaulted her with a slew of questions, one after another. Rina sighed and looked back down below, not wanting to meet his eyes. “Yes. I’m looking for something. I’ve always been looking for something.” She fiddled with a loose thread on her blue jeans. “And no. I don’t fear it. Not anymore. I’m fighting…because I don’t want this anymore. It’s not what I signed up for.” But I knew the consequences. Rina grew quiet for a moment before looking back up at the man. “I’m Rina. Mordred shrugged and looked away. "A waste of my time. The Heartless will return. Without the Keyblade to unmake them, they always do." Mordred looked back at the girl. She had been looking for something but she didn't say what it is. Did she not know or was it a secret? Then she mentioned that she was fighting the darkness, apparently because of a mistake she made. Secretly, Mordred approved of this. From his research, it would make her Heart stronger in the end. Strong enough to sustain Eden. He squatted down, not leaving the railing he was perched on. From far away, he looked not unlike a gargoyle, just facing the wrong way. "... Do you seek a purpose? Something aside from the darkness you face. I assume from your tone that you served the Darkness out of a misguided need for help and it has not worked out well for you. Such is the nature of Darkness. It must be controlled or else it consumes everything in its path. A different purpose would serve to help you fight the Darkness within you."
Mordred had a feeling he knew about the one who forced Rina to serve the Darkness, but until he got a confirmation, he wasn't going to speculate too much. Xemnas's computer was invaluable in gathering information, but even with that knowledge, there were too many suspects. Rina then asked for his name and for a while, all Mordred did was stare at her in response. Then, he said, "Mordred." Mordred then stood up and turned on his heels facing the door to the second district. "Why are you here then? Or do you normally mope on balconies?"

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"] ❝ Rina stared at the man for a moment, her blues eyes wide and blinking. “H-how did you know all of that?!” She must have looked like a deer in headlights. Who was this man? He had just met her, just started a conversation with her, but somehow had known the most important things about her. “And I’ll have you know…I’m not letting it consume me. I…I have a purpose, thank you. This is just a means to an end…”With that Rina stood up, be careful where she stepped, climbing back over the railing. As she did this and stood to face to face with the stranger he introduced himself as Mordred, before commenting about her choice of hiding spot. She made a face at him. “I…I wasn’t moping! Besides! If a person was going to mope a balcony is a perfect spot! And I told you. Mordred sighed. Some people truly never knew how easy they were to read. "I've studied the Heart and how Humans act in different situations long enough to know. I've seen enough people tempted by the Power of Darkness to submit to it, not knowing the dangers until they are already consumed by it." Mordred turned to Rina as she said she had a purpose and cocked his head. "... I see... but is it truly your purpose? Or another's? Perhaps the one who gave you that Darkness in the first place?" Mordred cracked his neck as she stared at Rina. [/font color="707070"]"You will find that I'm not one who is easily fooled. As I've said, I've seen just about everything there is to offer. Very little would surprise me, even if that was something I could feel."[/font]
Mordred didn't react at Rina pulling a face at him. As far as he was concerned, it was an honest question. Apparently, it offended her a bit... or perhaps Mordred had struck a nerve or two. The Nobody had long since given up being concerned about how his words affected others. Humanoids had long become almost nothing more than living vessels for Hearts to him, anyways. However, he did quirk an eyebrow when Rina mentioned that she was searching for a Heartless. "I see... it is the puppetmaster's purpose that drives the puppet. And what are you going to do with this Heartless of yours? Bring it back to the puppetmaster... or be devoured by it? If so, I should just end you right now, if you're looking for oblivion. You would be better off, I would imagine, than as one of them."

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"]❝ Rina took a shocked step back from Mordred, summoning her daggers into her hands. Her lips had twisted into a frown and she stared hard at the man, almost daring him to come closer. “Are…are you threatening me? I’m not…I’m not seeking “oblivion”, Mordred! They can’t hurt me anymore! I am so much stronger than any Heartless on this world!”
Rina grew silent for a moment but didn’t move her eyes from Mordred. From the moment she saw him fighting down below she assumed that he was dangerous. So was she. People had to protect themselves nowadays. But now she knew with no doubts that Mordred was dangerous…and he could hurt her at any moment. He could be a foe…or maybe he could still be a friend. Rina didn’t know. Should she tell him the whole truth about why she was here...? Aw…what the hell? I’ll do it.
Yes. Rina was looking for a Heartless. Yes. Her mistress commanded her to. But she wasn’t doing this for Maleficent. She was doing this for herself.

Mordred briefly closed his eyes and sighed as Rina summoned her daggers and got very defensive. He opened his eyes and just stared right back at Rina, not even flinching from her weapons. "Such unnecessary self-importance... no. It was not a threat. It's fact. If you truly believe you can't be hurt, then you're a bigger fool than I previously expected. The Heartless destroy all in their path. Only the Keybladers stand any chance of defeating them and judging by your weapons, you are no Keyblader. That same arrogance has led to countless lives lost, believing that they can control the Heartless. The only thing they managed was to become another Heartless, allowing Darkness to consume them." Mordred studied the girl as she seemed to be conflicted. It had to be fear that was leading her to such measures. Fear and ignorance of what would await her should she continue on this mad journey. Not that it bothered Mordred too much. However, it would be a shame if Rina's Heart became subsumed in Darkness when it could be in more capable hands. She then spoke about needing to escape, citing it as her true purpose. All it did was make Mordred shake his head.
"And where do you plan on running? I can tell you that whatever you seek with that Heartless, the only thing you will find is your end, nasty, brutish and short. If Fear and Ignorance grip your Heart so tightly that you see this suicidal mission as your only recourse, then I will not force you to choose otherwise. Your true purpose... is misleading. No one can escape forever. Are you truly so empty that you see other no purpose?" Mordred turned away from her again and looked up at the stars. "How you suffer so... one day there will be true peace. No Wars, no fighting, no anguish. Just peace eternal, with Light and Darkness coexisting in perfect harmony. But until then..." Mordred turned back around. "What will you choose, Rina?"

Mordred was quite the intelligent person. With a cold look at the man, Rina squeezed her palms around her daggers causing them to disappear back into oblivion where they would stay until she needed them again. This Mordred…he asked so many questions. Rina didn’t even know where she should begin with him. “You misunderstand me, Mordred. You misunderstand me completely. I’m not here for the Heartless. The Heartless are just a means to an end. I told you that.” Rina scoffed and rolled her eyes. This man was starting to get under her skin. He seemed to know just what buttons to push. “Look. Mordred closed his eyes and sighed. It was apparent that Rina was set in bringing about her own destruction. So be it. Mordred did not have time to feed her lies. While he would be disappointed that she would be lost to the darkness, there were many other Hearts in the worlds to collect. Losing one Heart was not such a small step backwards. "Very well. Your business is yours. If you wish to face your own annihilation, then I will not hinder you. However, in the... unlikely event that you should live, I would suggest you heed my words. Don't be a fool like so many others. There is still a chance for you to escape with your life. Think on it." Mordred continued to stare at Rina then sighed. People with Hearts were so stubborn, allowing their emotions to control them. The Nobody was unfettered from such debilitating chains. Mordred closed his eyes and seemed to take a deep breath, taking in the cool air of Traverse Town. Then he leaned back and allowed himself to fall off of the railing. A Corridor of Darkness opened beneath him, swallowing him up mid-fall and then disappearing just as quickly as appeared. Mordred skidded to a halt in the Corridor of Darkness, then stood up straight, brushing off of his clothes. Then he walked through the Corridor to the next world. Perhaps somewhere next to the ocean... --Mordred has left the thread--
