Roxas frowned at the excerpt in his hands, blue eyes scanning again the pericope that’d been a seemingly solid creature about a minute ago. Idly wondering what’d be like to be cold-coked by a story, the less then stellar history student tried to make sense of the snippet. It was a story of suspicion and starvation, loss of faith at ambitions’s summit. Everyone could relate to the doubts that come when a plan seems to go awry, yet the former thirteenth disciple found his thoughts drifting further back. Roxas hadn’t been the first to doubt his master’s wisdom and intentions, nor felt particularly distraught leaving 'The Great Work' before it reached the precipice. Yet, he could relate to doubt becoming a infection, corroding everything, eroding faith even in those who’d never let you down. Pushing away the recollection of overhasty words on a particularly dark night, Roxas offered the page for the edification of his companions’ possible curiosity. “Thanks Rina, that shield-thing was really quick thinking there,” he acknowledged to the courier before turning to the masked keyblader. “Nice moves Gula,” an amicable smirk accompanied a nod before the boy turned his attention to their greater surroundings. Roxas walked over to a table, hand grazing the spines of towering tome stacks. “Guess we each take a table?” 1/3 Event Horizen 2/2 Dual Strike Raid Rina Croft @gula

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"] ❝ Rina smiled at the blonde-haired boy as he complimented her quick thinking with the shield. She was a bit proud of herself too. Because of their combined actions they were able to get one of the books that they needed! But as for the page that had been a monster…Rina accepted the parchment from Roxas as he presented it and quickly read over it. A quick shudder seemed to run down her spine. She had hoped that book was fiction…otherwise those people in the story probably had an unfortunate fate… The young lady passed the page onto Gula, before joining Roxas at the tables full of literature. She couldn’t help the small smile that seemed to tickle at the corner of her lips. It wasn’t every day that she could go on a job and just sit in and read. However, this was proving to not be an everyday sort of library.
“I’ll take this table, okay?” She went and sat in an old rickety chair at the table that was closest to her and pulled a dusty blue book towards her. “Research, huh? Man, I wish Waltz was here. He loves this sort of thing.”

Gula was as stone-faced as ever, politely taking the page from Rina's hand. He then moved over to the book in question and put the page where it should be. He couldn't mend it totally, but it would ensure that the page was crumpled up. Gula put the book into his inventory and looked over to Roxas. It was here that he allowed himself a small smirk. "You're not too bad yourself, Rucksack. I'd be careful with going all out, though. I've got a hunch we're going to be dealing with stronger monsters as we continue this endeavor. At least, that's how my luck always pans out." Gula then followed the others to the piles and piles of books that awaited them. Gula gave a rather dejected sigh. It just couldn't be that easy, could it? It wasn't even like he could blame the scholars here for not organizing their books. After all, monsters infesting the library were excusable distractions. They really needed to hire a warrior full-time. He watched as the others moved to different tables and decided he'd take one that was a bit away from the group. It was clear he still preferred being alone and didn't quite trust Roxas and Rina yet.
"I believe the one we're searching for next is the book called Forgotten Landscape of Moore." Gula started to sort through the books, setting aside tomes that weren't what they were looking for. Gula's eyes lingered on the cover of Follies of the Wise before deciding to put that at the bottom of a new stack of books. He also was debating how they would face the next creature, assuming there was one. His mind was abuzz with strategy and intellectual curiosity of the books themselves. He was also still wondering how Roxas had two Keyblades but was still unable to broach the question or if he should at all. Regardless, he kept to himself, busily sorting through book after book.

“Yeah it does sound like him,” Roxas affirmed to Rina absently, only half-conscious of speaking as he traced his fingers across tome covers and leafed through appendixes. He sorted books between piles, telling himself it was just part of the mission, even if did feel like they’d totally gotten conned into temping as archive assistants. Eventually, his enthusiasm ebbed and the youth glanced between his companions. Rina seemed to be finding some amusement in all of this while Gula was being a shelf-flower over there. ‘Rucksack’ had questions for the Cathat. It didn’t take much observing to gather Gula’d been at this Keyblading thing a while. Bravado aside, Roxas knew those were anything but amateur moves, which brought up all sorts of questions. While it wasn’t like there was an annual convention or anything, Keyblader’s weren’t a very large group, at least on the world’s Roxas had visited. They were rare enough that Xemnas had resorted to two simulacrums just to harness Sora’s power for himself. All the Keybladers he’d met that weren’t familiar faces in one way or another or were newbies just coming into their own. So like, what rock had this Gula guy been hiding under? While Gula’s body language and tone didn’t exactly scream ‘cheery multitasker,’ the younger man had learned the hard way not to count on second chances. Besides, Lost Lands of Goore wasn’t showing itself anyway. “Hey Gula,” Rucksack ventured unsolicited as he wavered in the alphabetical search for their quarry, chin resting on a forearm propped up by the table. “I’ve never seen those Keyblade stances before,” he said, going with the truth, part of it anyway. “Where’d you learn to do all that?”@gula Rina Croft 2/3 Even Horizen (Sorry for the delay guys, got confused when the order!)

| | Of course while they searched it would come to prove no easy task. The books all quite varied in size, shape and age. Some were at least decades new and others: decades old. The scent of the library was mixed between a musky odor that came as a result of the water sometimes found dripping into the tomb of knowledge and a smell not unlike comfort. Aging pages mixed with their ink gave off an almost sweet scent of vanilla. As Roxas settled into his chatter it was at that point a book would come flying down at him, aimed right for his head.
Whether or not the book hit was a matter of situation but the book would fall. Caught or left to its devices: it did not matter. The horrifying revelation that came with the book was the accompaniment of a massive slug, no smaller in length than the arm of a man and no less in thickness than a well fed hound. The viscous creature had a body that looked as if it was made of print, that rotten musk and sweet vanilla scent spilling from the mucus that it expelled. If one took a moment to look though that mucus was degrading the book in question. It was eating the books and, if one wasn't careful: the flesh! Turning its writhing eye-stalks towards Roxas it would part is amorphous jowls and lunge at the boy's arm.
It looked to be another creature manifested from the book. At its tail the number 24 was printed and what looked to be a gold-leaf pattern of a forest painting on its belly. This was likely a page of the very book they sought! It would most like be near and by! But they had to handle this critter first!

Gula sighed. He was now re-sorting through books to make sure he hadn't missed the book. It was frustrating work, to say the least, not helped by the underlying current of "A monster may jump out and commence murdering" going on. So while Gula looked like he didn't want to be sociable, in truth, he was a bit relieved when Roxas came by. It broke up the monotony of all this book finding. Gula looked over at Roxas as he asked his question. He wasn't sure he should divulge too much information, at first. However, if he didn't, Roxas would most likely try to find information on his own which could lead to disaster. Might as well arm the young lad with information. "Well, I'm sure you're aware that there are Keyblade Masters, right? I learned from a Master as well. However, he wasn't A Master, but THE Master. There weren't any other Keyblade Masters before him... Or Keyblades, to be honest."
Gula was sure that Roxas would think he was crazy. Honestly, his story did seem a little far-fetched. But that didn't mean it wasn't true. However, before the Leopard-masked boy could elaborate any further, books fell to the floor below. Gula looked up to see the Page Slugs going hog on the books. Immediately, he summoned his Keyblade to his hand and cast Thundaga on the Plant Slugs. Then he put himself in a defensive stance, putting his Keyblade between himself and the slugs. To most, it would seem odd but Gula was setting up for Counter Zantetsuken. If hit, he would make the slug regret it. "Looks like our Q&A is going to have to be postponed for a bit." Gula looked over at Rina, who seemed to either be frozen or just not noticing what was happening. Regardless, the Slugs didn't seem that tough. Perhaps Thundaga would eliminate them all.

Folks said life was all about new experiences. Could be, or maybe, as Roxas himself suspected sometimes, it’s just how we rationalize how random life seems. Regardless of the truth, Roxas now had to entirely sensation to add to his edifying repertoire. What does it feel like to have your entire arm swallowed by a giant acidic book slug? Well, imagine if someone took hydrochloric acid, mixed in some vanilla, baked it into jello, and proceeded to press that and your arm inside a giant uncomfortably squamous-textured dictionary. Neat right? His horizons thus explained, Roxas gritted his teeth as undulating gastropod contours kept hold of his arm with surprisingly strong suction force. He stabbed repeatedly at the slug with the hand that was still free to wield a blade. An acidic bubbling froth churned where his skin met the creatures sickeningly slick flesh. A heatless burn ached across his forelimb until a strange deathly numbness came, probably a sign his nerve-endings weren’t doing so hot in there. The thing had him up to the shoulder and was making steady progress up to the clavicle when it suddenly shuddered and contorted. The fulmination from Gula’s evocation was blinding, leaving white throbbing spots across his vision. But whether it made the slug loosen its grip in pain or just startled it, Roxas was able to slide free. Crooking his burned arm, Roxas moved behind Gula, remaining keyblade raised. “Thanks for the save there,” he managed. 1) Slug grabs Roxas, dealing some nasty acid damage 2) Roxas makes a normal attack on slug before managing to get free. [attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"] ❝ Rina gasped as she saw the damage that the slug had did to Roxas. She was just about to question him about the odd comment he made about Waltz just a bit earlier, but was interrupted by the grotesque slug. Did Roxas know her winged companion? Why wasn’t she ever told? But more to the matter at hand…
“Roxas! Your arm!” Keeping mind of the slithering slug at their feet, Rina reached over to touch the blonde’s shoulder and whispered a quick healing spell. The warm magic would heal the boy up nicely. After using Cure, Rina extended her hand towards the creature and without a word sharp needles made of Rina’s darkness burst forth from the floor to impale the animal’s soft body.
“Take that!”
Rina casts Cure upon Roxas' arm.
Rina casts Dark Needles upon the slug dealing moderate damage.

| | Of all of the group it seemed Roxas took the brunt of the damage. Even as he bashed his into the amorphous goo it seemed to do little to deter its writhing mass. When it was smashed to the ground it allowed Gula the chance at assault. When he lunged toward the masked warrior it created a swirling vortex of acid with its mouth, but the taste of Thundaga was unpleasant and sent it spiraling along the ground, splattering is acidic body all over. The hissing burn of nearby shelves and books was accompanied by that same, rancid smell. It was like sweating socks being dipped in rotting milk. Putrid, almost venomous. In fact if any of our heroes were to breathe in the wretched smell they would become noxious and take poison damage. Rina's attack would finally eliminate it, a wailing shriek sending it into writhing pieces which slithered back under the bookshelves. But as the pieces departed it left behind a half-burned page in its wake.
The page would easily slide into the book and create a completed tome. When the page was entered it would read a new passage, some of the image burned away by the slug's venom.
'Master Ciro led them into the Ancient Temple of the Fist, but what they found was not salvation, but a trial that the strong could only survive. In went three, and out came two. The knowledge they had gained was both a blessing and a curse. One would continue to teach as Ciro had while the other took up the mantle of Rhalgr the Destoryer, the one who had led those to weak to make the journey, back down the mountain.'There seemed thing else save to find the next book. The Forgotten Landscapes of Moore was not too far from where they were. In fact it was piled on the table near by. It detailed the land of Moore which was once so deep in the mountains it could only be accessed via underwater or the skies above. It tells of a time where Moore was once surrounded by a great forest. As the pages were turned so were the shelves of the library moving to follow the tale. Shelves began to dissipate as a small pond appeared. In the center of that pond were stone shelves, unlike the wooden ones they behold. On a stone lectern sat a book with gold lettering in front.Legends of Karnak. You have 3 days after this post to respond. Knuckles cracked over the sudden placidity left in the wake of the libraries importune terraforming. Roxas flexed the fingers of his healed hand. Rina’s magic had rewoven the deliquesced tendons and revivified his cells from scalded necrosis. No stranger to magic, Black or White, Roxas was still struck by the surreality of his gruesome injury reduced to just some skin discoloration. Even the burning in his lungs from breathing in the slug’s toxic musk (another sentence that would hopefully never been said again beyond this library) had receded somewhat. It made what had been agonizingly immanent just three minutes ago now have an illusive dream-like uncertainty of whether it actually happened or had been that bad. It was an unpleasantly familiar line of questioning, but Roxas had always counted more on the use of his limbs to get him through life then actually knowing what was real, so there you go. “Hey thanks again Rina,” Roxas said, giving the courier a respectful nod that ruffled the sandy mop of his head. “Gonna owe you both dinner or something after this,” he noted with a self-deprecating smirk to those who’d rescued him from perhaps the most embarrassing ambush he’d yet endured in a life already chock full of them. The boy folded his arms as he regarded their new surroundings, certainly impressed by the feat of bibliographic landscaping, but not entirely surprised after having painful confirmation that the things born from the books were quite real. Keeping a wary eye out for any more stalking mollusks eager for tender man-flesh, Roxas approached the lectern, glancing between it, the shelves sitting not so innocently at the pond’s center, and the currently peaceful waters. Uncharacteristically wary given recent events, Roxas opted to regard further literature as a dangerous proposition for the time being, perhaps forever. “Looks like the last one,” the boy noted unnecessarily. “What’s the game-plan?”Rina Croft @gula 1) Roxas is healed of some of his Poison and Acid damage 2) Roxas decides to not touch the possible slug book.

Rina walked forward until she was about a foot away from the book.
“I’m pretty sure this is a trap, boys. Buuut I’m gonna go for it.” Acting quickly Rina darted forward grabbing the book from the lectern and rushing back to Roxas and Gula. She looked around, almost expecting something to come and grab her, but nothing immediately came.
“Well…here we are.” She held out the book in front of her.

As soon as the putrid smell hit Gula's nostrils, he covered his nose and mouth with his sleeve. Heck, it stung his eyes and caused him to tear up under his mask. He immediately grabbed the page AND the book it belonged to before getting out of the stink cloud and allowing him to cough and dry heave. He put the page back into "Forgotten Landscapes of Moore" and followed the others to the next book. The next book happened to be on a pedestal right out in the open. Wow, that certainly wasn't a trap. "No, not the last, Roxas. We're still missing H-URK!" Gula turns his head away from the others, holding a finger up to indicate he needed a minute. After a beat, Gula turned back to face the other two. "Just in my mouth, I'm fine. I'm going to be smelling that for weeks. Anyways, we still need to find 'Herbs of History.'" Luckily, the other two seemed to recognize that the book was a trap, as the both of them seemed to hesitate. Then Rina, the brave girl, quickly grabbed the book and brought it back.
Gula nodded and then readied himself to attack. Recent history dictated that this would never be as simple as just taking the book. "Everyone be ready, just in case." Gula still felt sick from the slugs' stench. He'd just have to fight through it. Roxas also seemed to be a little green around the gills. Why did it feel like Rina was going to have to be taking care of the both of them? Gula shook his head and just prepared himself by casting Haste on himself. The Foreteller excelled at outpacing his foes.

Far be it for them to consider their actions.
When Rina removed the book from its placement the platform would be swallowed up by the ground. It seemed a smart idea to keep moving. But something was watching them. The book looked intact. Opening it would cast the pages onto the near end of the story.
The Legend was known across both worlds. A stone that had fell from the skies was a monument to the prosperity of its people. It had the ability to open a path across time and space, letting those from the two worlds meet again. Sleeping deep inside the stone was a god who, come the movement of Light: woke and shook the earth.
The last book was not to be found, but that was because it was not in the shelf, but on it! Were the group to look up the title was clear and its verdant cover an indication that the herbology book was at hand! Except looking up also made them privvy to the cracked, sunken face of a being that looked made of stone and vein. Dark, silvery skin quivered as the rumbling roar of rage. the book Rina held was its target. There she carried the heart of the people of Karnak. Its legends and tales were the telling off the Heroes of Light that had come and brought change to their whole world.
The massive creature had script all over its body clearly reading: The god of the Earth sought revenge for being woken up!
Raising its mighty fist it would grip onto the shelf and reach down to punch down at the group. This being is what stood between them and their last book.

“Woooooaaaah,” the held tone tailed off into a low whistle as tome became titan in the span of seconds. Carnivorous slugs, gargoyles, and ponds were one thing, but a rock giant? Roxas had to admit, that was pretty awesome. Might’ve been alot higher on the awesome-scale if it wasn’t trying to flatten them right now, but y’know still awesome. A ear-splitting crash, rush of air, and absence of a bright doorway at the end darkness informed Roxas that he’d been quick enough in the jump backward. But that didn’t really matter. The sheer concussive impact from the goliath’s fist sent him flying backward. Grass and illusionary sky switched places a couple times. Roxas hit the ground at an angle and speed that caused a few cracking sounds from inside that’d he’d definitely be regretting pretty soon. Pain made the lights into a trickling swirling liquid in his vision. For a minute or two Roxas’ urgings for his own body to move was like ringing up a number and just getting a long dial tone in response. Eventually, fighting the red-hot and ice-cold flashes that come when you’ve done wrong by your spine, Roxas rose and tried to get some clarity. Reaching his will out to ambient photons, Roxas mentally gathered them into familiar shapes as one might fold origami. Thirteen thorned cruciate sigils winked into being, rotating in a slow graceful orbit around him. Blinking past lingering blurs, Roxas focused on the Titan’s immense bulk and released his hold on the spell’s welling energies. The sigils ignited and connected to the ground, forming light cross of telephone pole-like stature. The Event Horizon sped towards the Titan like a gallows grove of deadly radiance. 1) Roxas is severely walloped, becoming knocked back and prone 2) Roxas attempts to deal heavy holy damage with Event horizon 0/3 Event Horizon @gula Rina Croft
