How much time had passed, if it had any true meaning here at all? A day? A month? A millennium? With every crash, every surge of each dark, stormy wave, the memory of his blue haired companion felt both new and ancient, the lapses into forgetfulness becoming more and more frequent. Such was the nature of this place, perhaps. They were denizens of the Realm of Light, not of Darkness. They should not be here, and yet both were here of their own sacrificial accord.
Hooded eyes narrowed as they inspected his handiwork. Very rarely did the former king move from his stony seat on the shore, but when he did, it was merely to collect and organize what washed up on the forgotten shores. Most of the time it was mere shards of the terrifying spires and spikes in the distance, but every so often, the palest of shells would settle themselves in the dull sand. Were they a part of this world? Or were they, too, castaways from another realm? They were so...peculiar. In contrast to the violet and chaotic world around them, they were beautiful and refined. Instead of dark, they were a pale, milky white, far from glittering or glistening, but still standing out all the same. By now, he had finally arranged seven in a single row at the edge. Seven simply challenging their environment. It almost sparked some memories.
Almost.
The waves however, reclaimed their bounty hungrily without a care, causing the eyes to glaze and furrow, as clouds swirled around within the man's mind...what was he watching before? His hooded head turned to see a new face. It was so rare for him to meet someone else in this forgotten realm.
"Why hello...it's not often I get visitors." The words were as genuine as could be. Somewhere, buried deep beneath the swirling clouds, there was the thought of how often this cycle would continue. Of remembering, of forgetting. And...perhaps it truly was best just to forget it all.

Another battle and another reprieve of an endless cycle of darkness, wounds upon wounds lace the flesh of the cerulean warrior. Her stamina lacking, but the young master’s resolve was still fighting as she made her way through another wave of unyielding shadows. What was the count now? She had to reset many a times as the longer she stayed in the realm of darkness the less she could remember. Yet with her way finder in hand she retained the memories of those she was close to. She needed to protect her friends one from the darkness and one in an endless slumber. Aqua had to save them, but in order to do that she had to free herself from the cage she had trapped herself in.
Still this most recent battle had proved difficult and she could feel her powers draining. She was not made for long drown out fights that was Terra’s specialty. Her powers were mainly reliant on her ability to focus and remember the spells she had researched over the years, but the power of this realm made things harder. She was down to the basics again after those many years of stuck in the darkness and the torture brought to her from the world around her. Still she had to keep going and find an exit. She had to return to the land of light one day and as she entered the net area she could feel her exhaustion setting in.
The blue master found herself in an area she would call gorgeous. It was certainly a nice change of pace to the corridors of rock filled with heartless that littered the sky. Despite its nicely lit sky and the sound of the water brushing the shore she kept her guard up. This could easily be another of the world’s tricks and she was not about to be caught off guard. As she walked around the area she saw a figure in the distance one that, like her, didn’t seem to belong to this place. She approached said figure cautiously.
The figure turned towards Aqua and addressed her in a deep almost calming voice. “Oh. Hello,” Aqua said in a slight surprise at the other figure. “No it’s not,” she said in response to his statement. She looked down in uncertainty as she began to think about what she just said. Had she been her before? What about this man had she known him? There was something that seemed familiar about him as she felt she could trust him, but was this a real person or just an illusion? She shook her head as doubt began to fill her mind. Aqua needed to shake off this feeling as she needing to keep her mind sharp and not give into the fear and loneliness she was feeling.
“What brings you here,” Aqua questioned the man hoping he could give her some answers. If she was lucky maybe he could help her figure a way out of this place, but upon looking at the man she felt he might not in the best shape himself. Though he didn’t look physically injured or even exhausted he might have been suffering his own feelings of exhaustion. Aqua kept her composure as best as possible though as she needed to not show this man her weakness in case he was in fact an enemy.

Words flowed out with an odd familiarity as the waves continued their cycle against the beach, something nestled deep within that aged mind trying to break free... "Well...I can tell you that this is my second time on these shores...."
Rusted gears covered with copious amounts of dust groaned and struggled, straining to push and break free, desperate not to fall apart. The nature of this realm had rooted itself so deeply, the very foundation of memory threatened to evaporate into nothingness...and yet.... "...but you already knew that, didn't you Aqua?" Like rain after drought, sunlight breaking through a storm, the clouds of forgetfulness were temporarily torn down once more. It was akin to a knife cutting straight through a dense fog...but only time would tell how long this moment would last. "I know you don't need an old man telling you how dangerous it is to wander around here alone, but I surely hope it wasn't because you've grown bored of my company already." The hooded elder stifled a chuckle. An actual, joyful chuckle. When he had first found himself in this place, he was filled with such...rage. The second time, such regret. But when this brave and determined young woman stumbled upon him, the aches of depression seemed to fade ever so slightly over time. Perhaps somewhere, deep down...the king still enjoyed those small moments. Smiles. Oh how he loved to see the smiling faces of his subjects. Men, women, children...it was a joy to see joy, and an even better one to spread it. "Tell me my dear...did you find what you were looking for?"Aqua

Second time? Had this man been her before or had he been here all along? Was this a meeting point for many a soul whom was trapped here in the darkness? Wait…Was this place familiar? Had she been her before? It certainly looked quite familiar, but why is that? Had the two of these lost souls meet before and for how long was this man involved in the darkness. Could he even be trusted? Yet there was something warm about his voice. Despite being a stranger it was nice to see another living being in this place.
“No,” Aqua admitted disappointingly. “This place just seems to be seeping into my heart constantly bringing out my doubts.” She gave an audible sigh before continuing, “I’m beginning to think there might not be a way out of this place now.” Thoughts of her friends appeared before her and the torture and pain they might be going through. Terra being controlled and fighting the darkness and Ventus forever stuck in his endless sleep. It was torture for the young master to think she left her friends in such a state. How could she even call herself a master or even their friend anymore? For ten years she has left them alone and abandoned them.
Aqua then realized this wasn’t possible was it? She had only seen apparitions created from her heart appear in this place. Was it possible this man was another one of the memory ghosts? Clenching her fist she attempted to summon her keyblade, but it didn’t respond to her call. “What?” she questioned herself looking at her empty hand. It had never done this before as she losing her heart? She tried to compose herself and asked the possible ghost, “How am I to be certain you are not just another figment of my imagination?”
