Tseng was not sure where he was or what was going on. He could feel the cold air around him. It was almost overwhelmingly cold as he pushed himself from his place lying in the white snow up into a sitting position. He lifted his arm to shield his eyes from the snowfall. He rubbed his eyes a bit before brushing the snow off his suit jacket and rubbing his hands together to warm up. He did not have any idea where he was at this exact moment.
The last thing that the Turk remembered was getting a call from Rufus ShinRa. The president had informed the Director that he was needed urgently. Getting a call of that nature in the middle of the night had Tseng worried. He had gotten up and dressed before getting himself to the new Head Quarters of ShinRa in Edge. The Turk did not live all that far away from the building. He had gotten himself an apartment nearby to be able to respond quickly. The job was most important thing in his life at the time. So, making sure he got there quickly and efficiently was equally important.
When he had arrived at the building, he was met by his newest recruit Elena. They rode up to the president's office together to get the details of why they were called in. Once at the office, they were filled in by Rufus as to their mission. It was rather simple, but they were entrusted to keep this under-wraps until they have completed it. All three of them knew the repercussions if the WRO or Avalanche heard anything before it had been handled. The last thing the company needed was another scandal like Meteor or Sephiroth. They would handle the rumors first, then report it to the WRO before any word of it got leaked to them.
Tseng had been piloting the helicopter when some dark portal had appeared. The Turk hadn't been able to avoid whatever it was. He could remember bit and pieces before they were sucked into it. He could remember flashes of light from behind them. He knew the controls had started to malfunction with the interference from the darkness. He could remember feeling someone grab his arm as he tried to keep control of the chopper.
"Elena"
The Director felt the rush of adrenaline and panic hit him as he quickly shuffled to his feet. He had completely forgotten that the blonde had been in the helicopter with him. His eyes scanning the white horizon as he spotted a black area a few yards away that was beginning to be covered by the light snow. Tseng quickly moved to the downed turk's side as he got this his knees to check her pulse before removing his own jacket. Yes, it was cold. However, the female was cold to the touch. She needed the jacket far more than he did. So, Tseng draped his jacket around her and shifted in an attempt to help Elena up. "Elena? Elena? Are you alright? Can you hear me?" He asked the woman as he did his best to figure out how she was. His dark eyes still scanning their surroundings. Were they in the Northern Cavern? They had to be north for it to be so cold.
He remembered Rufus's instructions so vividly. The president tasking Elena and Tseng with figuring out the cause to the strange fiends appearing in certain locations of the world. Now they were suddenly north? It did not make sense. None of it. He couldn't even see the helicopter they had been in anywhere. Could someone had found them and dumped them here in an attempt to hide their bodies? But, then there should be some sort of foot print, even a faded one in the snow. There was no way that they had been laying in the snow so long that there wouldn't be some sort of evidence of someone before there with them. The turk's mind was all over the place with the adrenaline that was probably shooting throughout his body. That might cause a problem later when he settled. He had not even checked to see if he was injured himself.

Elena hadn't remembered much, she did however remember Tseng making a command about something but it was little to late, she didn't remember all that well. She was sure he had said her name a few times, it took her mind a while to realise that it was now as she forced her eyes open as her body shivered. "Where..." The snow was cold, she hadn't expected that, snow this far south? They must of piloted the wrong way. But she didn't honestly remember.
Sitting up a little with his help she nodded slightly at his comment if she could hear him. She didn't want to say anything to much, it was far to cold to strike up a conversation. She moaned to stand with the gentleman help, her eyes scanning around, she thought that maybe they'd headed north without realising, crashing here in the nor- Elena's thought process just stopped blank. If they'd crashed where was the helicopter? She glanced around in each direction, expected to see it or at least some smoke from her crashing. "Where's the helicopter?" She asked Tseng, watching him, she was so confused at this point as she removing his jacket, he needed it, she couldn't hold on to it.

Tseng was absolutely freezing. However, his priority was for his partner. He was very old fashioned with his though process. So, being a woman, he did want to make sure she was safe and warm. He rubbed her arm as she started to come to, glad that she was alive and doing rather well at the moment. They would need to do a full check once they were somewhere safe. But it was far from safe at the moment. He wasn’t even sure what had happened. All he knew was that they needed to take shelter and regroup.
She cane to a bit and asked where they were. He shook his head and rubbed her arm. ”I’m not sure...” He helped her up when she shifted and was more than happy to have her safe and alive. ”Come on...” he told the woman as he got her up.
”I don’t know where it is, Elena. I didn’t see it....come on. Let’s find shelter.” he explained to his partner as he moved to walk with her. That is when she pulled off his jacket. ”Warm up first....” he responded as they walked to find a cave or something. He was extremely cold, but he wanted her awake enough. He knew they needed to stay close to keep warm for the moment. ”Do you see any caves?” he asked as they walked. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Elena could feel her stomach knoting at his words, it was lucky enough that he was so calm, because at the moment she was thinking a mile a minute that they were going to die out here. The blonde wrapped the jacket around herself a little tighter as she walked beside him.
"I just see snow..." That was literally what was around them, snow snow and more snow. The women kept glancing around, hopefully something would come up sooner rather then later. She was really cold right now and he must of been too. More so because she had his jacket on. "Tseng? There's smoke over there in the distance.." Elena said as she stopped, but from the very thin line of smoke reaching up to the sky it could of been miles away. But she thought she should point it out. She hadn't a clue which way they were currently heading, or where they were heading from in the first place.
"I know it's cold now, but where the sun is starting to descend it's going to become extra cold.. like it did when we was here before.." Elena hated to bring up the Kadaj episode, but she didn't want to freeze to death out here. And she was sure that Tseng didn't want a repeat of those nights again.

Tseng was aware of how Elena could be. So, he knew he had to focus on being the rational one. He didn’t want her having to try and overcompensate. He was the senior, he had to handle it. He supported her as they walked slowly. The wind being rather harsh. Tseng knee they would freeze out here if they didn’t find some place to stay out of the storm. He kept his head low as they walked. ”Great deduction, Elena....” he responded a bit sarcastically.
Tseng continued to walk them a bit before she finally said something helpful. His eyes moved toward the direction she had mentioned. He nodded slowly about the smoke. It was hard to judge the distance of the campfire. With the clouds above, he wasn’t even sure what direction they were heading. It most certainly had to be somewhere on the northern continent.
Elena chimed in again about the temperature dropping. It was a bit obvious, but he nodded in response. It wasn’t something he truly wanted to think about. It was a traumatic experience for both of them. He didn’t like to even mention what Kadaj and his brother put him through. ”Lets just find someplace to wait out the storm....” he admitted as they walked.
He honestly was freezing. But he could manage a while till he’d need to reclaim it. Hopefully it would be when she was warmed up a bit and they’d found some sort of shelter.

Elena didn’t mean to state the obvious about the snow, but it was something she was always good at. She felt silly for saying what she had now but she said no more and continued to walk with him, his sarcastic remark said it all. The blonde did it again about the temperature dropping and Tseng’s face said it all.
Elena scanned the area, nothing seemed to really stand out, it was just snow literally everywhere, the small bit of smoke was the only reference she had and even that she didn’t know where it was. Aiming in that general direction seemed the smartest thing to do. The whole time her hazel eyes scanned the area, to say the least it was repetitive. After about five minutes of silence Elena slipped of Tseng’s jacket, handing it back to him, he was cold, she could see that easily enough in his breathing.
“What was that?” Elena asked, her eyes moved to the side, she could of sworn she saw some sort of yellow object fly past in the distance, but what it was she didn’t know. She looked in the direction she thought she had seen it go, but maybe it was the setting in of cold weather.
“Wait? Is that a cliff?” Elena said, she took a few steps away from Tseng to try and work it out, low clouds didn’t help but she knew something wasn’t right with it as she came in closer to look at it. “I think we should head that way..” she announced to Tseng, if it was indeed a cliff it may have a cave underneath it or around it.

Tseng hadn't meant to sound as sarcastic and un-amused as he had. He was just cold and frustrated that she was seeing about as much as he was seeing. He was hoping she'd notice something being able to think at least a bit more logically being a bit warmer. But, it seemed she was as lost as he was in the moment. He had more trouble controlling his facial expressions when he was with comrades, they could read what he was thinking with or without his actual body language. Elena had been his partner for the last few years. She knew what he was thinking before he did at times.
It was after a few moments that Elena removed his jacket and handed it back. He tried to turn her down, but she was insistent and he knew not to push it all that much. He nodded with a simple thank you and wrapped himself back in the jacket. It did help warm him up a lot better than without it. Their suit jackets did give them some protection from the elements with the materials that were used. He kept close to Elena as they continued moving.
That's when Elena spoke up again and the Director glanced at her with a confused expression. What was what? His eyes scanned the scenery that hadn't changed. She couldn't be that cold that she was beginning to see things. It didn't make logical sense. All the Turk could do was trust she'd seen something that would help them. It did feel good to be right. Elena speaking up to point out the possibility of a cliff. The blonde was probably right. It did seem to be the right shape to be a cliff. The Wutainese man nodded in response and shifted a bit to keep up with her after she'd taken a few steps ahead of him.
"Don't get on too far ahead..." He spoke as he moved to try and catch up with her, keeping his arms folded over his now zipped up jacket. He was truly hoping that this cliff produced some sort of cave or shelter that they could use for the evening. Anything for them to be able to stay alive and make it through the night. They'd need to call for backup once they figured out a safe place to sleep and a general idea of where they were. They couldn't call Rude and Reno in blind. "Anything, Elena?" he asked his partner who was still a few steps ahead.

Elena heard Tseng’s comment about not going off far ahead, but it couldn’t be helped. Her mind was just on what she was sure she had seen, some kind of bird perhaps? A yellow peak was suddenly on her mind. She wasn’t completely sure as she walked. Her arms around herself trying to keep warm. Tseng’s jacket was already well missed. The female Turk kept walking until she noticed she was pulling away in front of him, it was some sort of cliff coming into view she had been right.
As Tseng asked about anything else, she scanned the bottom of what she could see with her eyes. Looking for some sort of entrance to a cave or even a small enough area they could get into to keep them warm over night. “There’s a dark patch down there, could be small enough to crawl into..” not that Elena wanted her uniform cold and wet from the snow but it might end up that way. “Looks like the only opening I can see.” Elena said, finally stopping so he could catch her up. “Seems small from here, might be taller when we get down there.” Elena suggested as she watched the man for some sort of idea if he was ok with that. But right now, that looked like there only option.

Tseng was honestly just glad that he had his jacket back. He was a lot colder than he had realized he was. That not usually being a good sign. The last thing they needed was for hypothermia to set in. Tseng carefully bringing his hands to his face to attempt to warm up with his breath. His eyes eventually shifting from looking toward the ground to find Elena had gotten some distance away from him. The Director let out a faint sigh as he folded his arms to try and keep a tad bit warmer, speeding up to catch up with the blonde. He couldn't afford to lose her out here. They didn't even know exactly where in the Northern Continent they were.
Tseng did not take all that long to catch up with Elena as she babbled on about what she was seeing. He squinted a bit as he got closer to the area she was referencing. "Alright. I see it." He informed his partner as he half patted her shoulder before moving to head to the opening. "It will work well enough for the evening..." He explained as he continued with her to the small cave opening. It was a little bit bigger than he expected when they got closer. It was enough space that they should be able to squeeze inside.
The Director headed in first to make sure it was safe before calling up to her that it was. He let her slide inside the opening, supporting her when she did. His hands on her waist until she was safely on her feet inside. It was rather dark, but the light from his small flashlight from his PHS was enough to give them a decent view on the inside. The cave was still rather cold, but less harsh with it sheltering them from the wind. "I'm going to see if I can find anything in here that we can use to start a fire." Her partner explained as he shined his light around the small cave before handing it to Elena. "I'll be right back..."
Tseng pulled himself back out of the cave before disappearing, leaving Elena alone in the cave to get things situated there. It was not too long before the man returned, sliding the small pieces of wood and such he'd found nearby. The place wasn't completely barren of everything. "The wood is a bit damp, but we've dealt with worse..." He commented after he'd rubbed his arms a bit to try and warm up from being back outside.

Elena was more then grateful for the dark inside the small cave, it meant Tseng didn’t see her completely blush, when his hands move to her waist to help her onto her feet. “Thank you..” she told the man watching him as he pulled out his phs. Shining the light around the cave.
When Tseng wondered off Elena started to gather the snow near the entrance, it made her hands incredibly cold as she did what she was doing. She knew that the best thing to do was block the entrance with a snow like wall. It would keep the chill out better too. But the blonde was soon regretting it, having to blow the air onto her hands to keep them warm before continuing to gather. Opening her blazer pocket she pulled out a small plastic zip bag she kept her Shinra id and passes in. She put the stuff inside the zip bag back into her pocket and used the actual bag to collect snow. As silly as it sounded they needed to stay hydrated, so the melted snow would help be there water supply.
When Tseng returned Elena started to build up the wall, her fingers were frozen to the touch as she worked on blocking out the cold. It was simple training she had had in Solider. She never thought something they taught could rub off on her. But at least this would stop the air coming in and making them fill worse. “I’m sure it will light..” she didn’t want to ask Tseng if he had a lighter, she only assumed he knew what to do.

Tseng was more than happy to be back in the little cave they had found. He made sure to avoid the section she had started to pack closed. He slide inside and let her get to work. She knew what she was doing and he did not doubt that. The man got inside and nodded about the wet branches. He shifted and sat the PHS on the floor so he could see what he was doing. It took a bit, but he used his Fire materia to start the fire, overall glad he had decided to bring that one with him.
It took a few minutes, but he finally got a small but feasible fire going. The Director let out a relieved sigh before closing the cell phone and warming his hands a bit. "Elena....come warm up." He stated. The last thing he wanted her to do was freeze to death. It was a lot warmer than he expected to be for the evening. He just prayed that he had found enough wood to last them till the morning. He just could not find anymore and it was getting too cold for him to be able to handle.
The Director rubbed his hands together and left room next to him if she wanted to join him there. Honestly, body heat would help a lot until the cave warmed up enough that the cold would not be as huge a problem as it was now. "In the morning, we can see if we can find Iccicle Inn or orient ourselves better."

Elena finished building the snow wall and shifted to get herself comfortable beside him. A fire was good as it dried off the clothes too. Elena didn’t know what to say or even do. She just stayed quiet as she sat quite close to him to dry her hands off with the fire he had lit from materia. It was Tseng who broke the silence.
Hearing his decision Elena nodded, it was understandable they needed to work out where they were. She didn’t want to talk, something stupid would problem come out. At least right now they didn’t have the breeze that was coming in from the snow. “If we could work out north or south it would make life easier.” Elena shivered as she wrapped her jacket typed around herself, not that it was helping much. The blonde could feel the man’s body heat from beside him, it made her want to move closer but at the same time she didn’t want to push her luck, they had been working really well as partners.

Tseng was just as cold as Elena probably was. He just wished he had prepared for what had happened. He did not understand how the helicopter had truly crashed. There was a lot of sudden turbulence. A very large and dark portal of sorts that caused the system to completely malfunction and essentially crash. But, they had not made it far enough to be at the Northern Continent. Yet, that is where they seemed to be. No other location had snow like this at this time of year.
That's when the blonde pulled him from his own thoughts. "Yes, it certainly would. But, with that cloud cover it's nearly impossible. We'll just have to wait for the storm to settle and daylight." He explained as he sat next to her.
The body language was clear on the new turk though. She was cold. Honestly, so was he. Those nights trapped with Kadaj and his gang had been just as cold. Yet, the torture that had ensued made it worse. At least they weren't being held captive. The Director sighed before speaking up again. "You can get closer to the fire... body heat will help. At least there are no real threats yet." He admitted to the blonde. That's when he thought it would be safe to speak up about the helicopter. "What do you remember happening with the malfunction before we crashed?" He asked his partner.
Maybe she would remember something more than he had. It was like the record was skipping. He only remember bits an pieces, not in order. There were things missing. But, maybe he both of them could discuss and figure out the truth. There had to be something that one of them noticed before they went down.

Elena sat with her legs up close to her chest, her arms tucked around her legs to keep them close to her body. It was so cold but she couldn’t work out what the best options were, wait till morning and head out and find where ever they were. But none of it looked familiar. Maybe it was just the snow Elena couldn’t tell, her thoughts were interrupted by Tseng and she moved as he suggested beside him, she didn’t want to be over baring, she knew how much he hated that. And she was struggling to keep her mouth shout. He had warned her in the past about talking so much, so she was trying to keep quiet and just talk as and when spoken too, something that was proving hard to do.
“I... I don’t know.. I remember bits but not a whole lot of it..” Elena said as she watched the orange fire burning, she was glad it was only little, they wouldn’t get smoked in. “I remember the storm and the thunder. The blackened Sky we was in..” Elena said trying to force herself to think back. “I checked the radar and it said clear skies...” The blonde was trying to think what else she saw and remembered, but right now nothing was sinking in. But she was trying to think about it all. “I remember the engine failing, but I don’t think it was struck.” The blonde said before glancing at him; his face was lit up by the fire, to her he looked tired and cold, she understood why, she properly looked the same as him. “We were no where near the Northern Crater.. we were heading west... there’s no way we could of come of course that much without noticing..”

Tseng wasn't finding her overbearing. They were both cold and the body heat was welcomed. He rubbed his hands together as he sat next to her, trying to warm up by the fire. It was not a big fire. He only had so much kindling that he'd found among the snow. They would need to ration it for the evening. Maybe longer if the storm lasted far too long. Right now, they would need to wait and hope for the best.
His dark eyes drifted over toward the blonde next to him. From her body language, she didn't seem to be warming up any better than before. He shifted off his suit jacket again before draping it over her knees to use as almost a blanket. "I'm warmer than you are..." He explained as he warmed his hands by the fire again. It was true, even if he was still cold.
Elena began to explain what she remembered and he nodded. "That is about what I remember as well." He hated that she was as lost as he was. They were heading due east. The forecast said nothing about any storms and the winds should have been calmer. However, the skies had gotten dark and some sort of black hole had opened up. The helicopter completely malfunctioned and shut down. He knew they would have gone down and there would not have been a thing the Director could have done about it.
"I remember losing control of the helicopter. The controls and entire system went down..." He explained. "But you're correct. We should have been west, not north." The Director was thoroughly confused by that fact. How were they here? It did not make any logical sense. "Plus, the remnants of the chopper should have been nearby, if we'd of honestly survived it."
