Fate truly had an extraordinarily odd sense of humor. It worked in ways that no one man could truly see until years later. Sometimes, though, it was a little more direct. For example, it could try and get a certain Black Wizard of Light to be more of a Hero by dropping him on a snowy mountain. That's where Alwyn was, trudging down a hill through the snow, drawing his coat around him to fight the bitter chill of the icy winds. Why, oh why did that stupid portal drop him here? There was a city at the base of the mountain, in what looked like a much warmer climate. Why couldn't he have been dropped off there? At the very least he could mingle with the locals or see if they had any knowledge of magic. But no, here he was, freezing in almost every part of his body to try and find a way to a cave or some form of camp. The only thing really keeping him warm was the magical fire that danced upon his staff. It was a little trick he learned in the Academy, which was pretty handy for midnight raids of the library and the kitchen, for that matter. Still, he admitted that it wasn't nearly as bad as the Ice Cavern. At least here there wasn't any Piscodaemons threatening to suck his brains out or just kill him at a glance. He really hated that place, now that he thought about it. Probably where he got his dislike for the cold.
Alwyn managed to get to the edge of the cliff and looked down at the city. The buildings were very different from what he was used to back home. This was going to be one hell of a culture shock if he ever got down this mountain. Luckily, he hadn't seen much of his new friends, the Heartless, so that was a plus. Maybe it'll be a pleasant, peaceful visit for once. Alwyn continued down the trail, which slowly became easier to traverse. The snow became less built up and Alwyn didn't have to use as much effort to walk. However, he soon found himself at what should have been a town. Sadly, it seemed to have burned down a while ago, leaving only scorched ruins. Alwyn sighed, lamenting the lack of people around. He found what looked like a guard tower, one of the only things left standing, used some magic to melt the snow and sat down at the foot of it. He had to rest his aching feet and get his energy back up. Alwyn wasn't the most athletic person at the best of times and trudging through snowbanks as high as your knees took a lot out of him. Luckily, he came prepared as Alwyn produced a small bag. He then pulled a pot already filled with water, a small wooden tea tray, a spoon, a bag of tea leaves, a tea cup and one small cube of sugar. For Alwyn, there was nothing like a cup of hot tea to calm the nerves and focus the mind. He had enchanted his bag to be able to carry things not normally possible for a bag its size. Even so, it was a modest arrangement. Alwyn placed the pot on the tray and focus his magic on the pot, heating the water within without any visible flame. Once it boiled, he poured the water into a tea cup and place the teabag. While the tea was steeping, Alwyn placed his staff next to him so the magical flame would continue to warm him as he enjoyed his tea. He then pulled a novel out of his bag and started to read.

Let my fangs set you free
You couldn’t see it if you tired.
The fox was as white as snow for a reason. Up here in the mountains there was always the feeling of eyes upon you, the distracting sensation of a predator always present around the corner. If you tried hard enough you could perhaps see the falcon perched on a withered tree. He was still as the ice atop the pond’s surface. The roots of the blackened trunk clinging for life amongst the crags and vales that painted a tundra barren of life. Surrounding these barren fields was a great wall of evergreens, whose branches creaked under the weight of the deep snows. The winds, which penetrated the soundlessness of the deep snows, were sometimes mistook for the baleful howls of hungry wolves. Smothered by a blanket of white: it was a difficult trek if you were unsuited for such a journey. The bottom reaching piles of powder pulled one far, making any weight they bore a greater nuisance in the seemingly fathomless abyss of white. A sharp raise in the land drew a physical border between the mountain above and the town below. The jagged edges of a mountain face walling off what was once a city…
Nothing was left here. Not unless you counted the haunting spirits that clung to this world, who died never knowing if they would be saved.
Much of everything had already been scavenged by the Huns and, whatever remained: scraps for predators. From the craggy recesses a pair of glowing eyes watched the shadow of a man stalk the ruins. Vaporous breaths rose from their parting lips, fangs put on display as hungry rose deep in their bellies. The figures wore heavy cloaks of fur, black and white trim upon the right and left figure, respectively. Hanging on their hips were loose satchels, heavy with the scavenged belongings from the village in question. Rags which had been spared the Huns’ flames, children’s toys, and anything else of value. The bright red hair hung from the hood of the traveler with black fur along its trim, his lips pulling back in a hungry smirk. The smaller one beside him, whose hood was trimmed with white, would raise his hand upon the taller one’s shoulder to hold him back. By now the skies have gotten dark, clouds rolling on to lay upon the village a fresh blanket of snow.
“Gē gē,” The larger of the two would exhale breathily. “ Is that a spirit? It doesn’t smell like a spirit.” He would bite down on his lower lip tightly, a growl loosing deep in his chest. The sound would carry along the wind, drowning in the deep gusts. The smaller one spoke. “ Now, now Dì di,” The smaller one crooned gently. “ You know well what prey smells like. Your sickness calls you, does it not?” The larger one turned to face the other. Their hands wrapped around each other’s, thick mittens of wool guarding them from the unruly frost of the mountain winds. “ It does Gē gē.” He looked down to the pale face of his lighter haired sibling. Though also red in hue, the smaller one’s mane was a shade lighter than his voracious kin. “ I want to consume the light…” He swallowed the lump forming in his throat, unable to banish his gluttonous desire. The smaller one would nod and hoist his bag’s strap further up his shoulder. With thick, leather boots he would lead his brother in a forward march from their hiding place, of which they took shelter in upon hearing movement from the entrance. Whoever this fool was they seemed to not know that it was never safe in a graveyard. The two crossed the distance from their shelter into the charred ruins. Their prints were quickly swallowed up by the falling snow which began to place a new layer of snow over the hollow tomb. As the snow began to fall more heavily the two could be seen approaching, looking akin to native travelers and not the predators they truly were. “ Hello.” The smaller one greeted, standing in front of the taller male. “ I see you have a fire started, would you mind we share it?” He pushed up his hood a bit to reveal a pale, youthful face of a boy who could be no older than sixteen. Alwyn was just about to relax when two young men showed up. He saw them cross the ruined village to where he was. What bothered Alwyn was that he hadn't heard them coming from the mountaintop or from the foot of the mountain. They just seemed to appear out of one of the buildings. As he sipped his tea, he watched from below the brim of his hat as the men got closer. He didn't quite understand it, but Alwyn got an uneasy feeling from the two. The only reason he was so far from civilization was that the portal dropped him at the mountaintop. He rested here because he honestly didn't expect anyone out here. Well, anyone living anyways. And yet, here were two men who just happened to be in the area. Were they bandits? Scavengers? Just a couple of weary travelers? That last one seemed particularly unlikely. Whatever they were, they didn't seem hostile for the moment. However, life on his world taught Alwyn to keep his guard up when traveling and he wasn't the trusting sort on a good day. He kept his staff close to him and at the ready. The last thing he needed to be was dead AND stranded.
Once they reached the fire, Alwyn suddenly realized that the two looked alike. Very alike. They had to be twins. This only peaked Alwyn's curiosity and, admittedly, his already heightened suspicions. They then asked if they could rest by the fire. After a second or two of silence, Alwyn nodded. "Yeah, sure, knock yourself out. There's plenty of tea to share, too, if you want." Sure, they might mug him, but Alwyn figured he could at least be polite to the two boys. Granted, they could certainly try to mug him. Not that they'd get anywhere mugging a Wizard who defeated Chaos, but if they were good enough, they'd probably get an "A" for effort. Once they sat, Alwyn took another sip of tea. "You two from the city near here? I really didn't expect anyone to come up this way, to be honest. Oh! Um, don't mind me. I... well, I guess you could say I didn't plan on being out here." A pretty pitiful explanation but it'd suffice for now. He wasn't sure how aware they were of the outside worlds and Alwyn wasn't planning on telling them. After all, he didn't even know if he was going to have to fight them or not. Thus, he merely enjoyed his tea and kept his senses tuned.

Let my fangs set you free
Natives to the humbling wilds of the mountain this traveling pair were advantaged by their knowledge of the snow capped cliffs. The mountains had been full of feral beasts and skulking shadows as well as angry spirits who had lost their path to the afterlife. Aside from the treacherous terrain travelers would find themselves at risk to these elements as well as the bitter chill of the northerly winds that cut through the Mongol threatened outlands. Upon the border of the territories Mongols also ravaged villages outside the government's reach. This village was victim to that.
The young men carried hefty packs which slung around their shoulders, the weighted bags at their hips. Thick cloaks of fur and leather gave the feeling they were experienced travelers or locals. What little was visible of them beneath the thick covers were their eyes through openings in the wrapped cloaks and feet, protected by sturdy boots. The drifting snow flaked their dark cloaks with a fresh dusting of white that contrasted and made them stand out. At his offering the shorter of the pair, that had spoken up, reached up to remove his hood once beneath the shelter of the ruined tower.
Red hair, a stark contrast to natives. “Oh, tea sounds lovely.” His voice was gentle, his smiling face matching well. “ City? Out here? No, we're from the mountains. We came down for resources.” As one had to occasionally do when living in a mountain far more barren than the lush valleys. The larger male removed his hood as he stepped behind his brother. His hair was also decidedly claret, but far richer in hue than his smaller sibling. Though twins by every measure their height difference gave clue that one was younger or was at least the runt of the litter. This fellow was more harsh seeming. His scowl did not lift upon looking onto the wizard. He pulled his pack over his head, the motion perfectly mirroring the smaller one who stood directly in front of him. “ I'm sorry to say, but you look pretty unprepared.” The smaller one said bluntly as he moved to sit. “ The snows here can get pretty harsh and your clothing looks very thin.” He pointed out. The larger male sat himself as well, eyes never leaving Alwyn. His eyes were more feral. The amber gaze smoldering with a golden glimmer against the dancing flames. There as a sort of hunger in his stare. He grunted in surprise when the smaller sibling smacked his chest with the back of his hand, holding up a piece of jerky. The titanic male lowered his head to bite down on the chunk of meat, now focused on consuming it. He held out a piece of jerky to Alwyn. “ I'm Cai Jiao-long. this is my brother Fai.” No need to repeat their last name twice. “ Though outsiders call me Nymph, and him Titan. We're Mountain Gods.” He declared with a grin before laughing. The snows remained gentle, eventually easing away once the grounds were covered and all signs of travel, footprints, had been eased. It was hauntingly silent. The layer of white swallowed the sounds of the woods. It was not until a coarse wind blew through that caused the loose flurries to lift from the ground and dance. Cai would take a bite of the bit of meat he had for himself. “ Where are you from? You don't look like the sort that's from any village.” He felt Always had a scholarly look about him, like those the palace employs for tutoring. Or some sort of wizard. So, they came from the mountains for "resources". So they lived here in this region? Well, that was kind of a plus, Alwyn supposed. Then again, who the hell would live in the bitter cold of snow-capped heights? Oh well, maybe they were hermits and liked the quiet. Alwyn could sympathize with that. He just preferred some degree of warmth along with his peace and quiet. Still, the twins seemed awful young to be living in the mountains. Very curious. Alwyn took a sip of tea as he noticed the larger twin seemed to have a hungry look about him. Namely, the twin was eyeing Alwyn with that hungry look. It was a look that the mage was sadly all too familiar with. Then the larger twin commented on Alwyn's lack of a winter wardrobe and the mage sighed, hot breath visible in the cold air. "Well, to be frank, I didn't really expect to end up in such a climate and I don't really intend to stay, either. I just decided to take a break after getting down the mountain. Warm up a little before heading further down." Alwyn was still unsure of these two and he really didn't want to advertise that he was not from around here.
Then the twins introduced themselves. Well, one of them, anyways. While he gave their actual names, he mentioned that outsiders called them by their nicknames. He also mentioned that they were Mountain Gods, which for whatever reason was very humorous to him. Alwyn, however, didn't laugh. Not that he didn't think Nymph wasn't funny, but Alwyn just took the title at face value. "Huh... I've seen quite a lot of dragons, Fiends, Undead and even a Chaos God. Mountain God's a first for me." Alwyn took another sip of tea and bite of the jerky Nymph offered. It was nice, actually. He really was trying to relax. However, these two were keeping him on edge. They seemed a little... too friendly? Yeah, that was it. They seemed way too friendly to strangers. Maybe it was Alwyn's paranoia and general lack of friendliness towards strangers but he also was right about his bad feelings more than he was wrong. It was as they said, 'Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean there isn't a demon right behind you.'
Then Nymph, who seemed to be the talkative of the two, asked where Alwyn was from. Well, now there was the rub, huh? How to explain to them where he was from without saying the obvious. "Well, honestly I am from A village. Just one that's very, very far away from here." Ok, it was an awful explanation but it would have to suffice. Mountain Gods or not, Alwyn couldn't exactly trust these two yet and the last thing he needed was to have them potentially causing havoc on other worlds.
Ok, that probably was the paranoia talking.

Let my fangs set you free In this case the demons were in clear view. Nymph was polite and never seemed to let his smile stray. Even with his knee jerk reactions towards the larger male, such as smacking his chest with the back of the younger one’s hand when Titan leaned over Nymph's shoulder for his half eaten piece of jerky, or the disgruntled grinding of his teeth when it was finally wrenched from his grasp. The smaller lad was nothing but smiles. The larger one looked as if they would be willing to consume Alwyn were he given a chance. His jaws were clenched still, holding what bit of the meat he was able to secure when Nymph. The corner of his lip curled up in delight as he chewed his snack. Nymph rubbed his wrists while holding the strained smile to Alwyn. “ You'll have to excuse my little brother’s manners. He thinks with his stomach.” Titan glanced down and nodded in agreement, because what better organ was there to follow? “ A village far from here, huh?” There hadn't been many, if any travellers to this place since it was destroyed. Though they lived among one of the mountain villages, spared the Mongol horde thanks to the intervention of the army and an inexplicable avalanche, it left the sleepy regions ever isolated. Those who still feared lingering pockets of the horse, scattered and disorganized without their leader, they feared that what few military patrols they could spare were not enough. With the beasts of shadows too now haunting the mountain paths it left many of them poverty stricken and in need of warriors. Yet still those fools… they did naught to appease the ancestors. Abandoning all of it. Nymph waved his hand in a backoning manner, in hopes to summon Alwyn’s attention to spare himself from speaking to air. “ I must ask, if you can pardon my rudeness,” His bare digits peaked from the half gloves he wore. The male's skin rather pale but he had more color than the snow: a distinct peach that was likely burned in by the chilly sting of cold. “ Do you follow the path of light?” His curious bid sounded on course for those who carried reason to convert you to their ways. There was little to determine if these two were no more than mere monks. Their bodies were wrapped in simple skin cloaks and their long journey from a habitable village seemed on par for those who frequented on pilgrimages. They had a cutting presence to them, but hardly that of mountain gods. Truly was it uneasy to find human faces stalking the charred ruins of a forgotten village, but Alwyn had been among the debris as well. He was no innocent in the crime of treading the resting place of the departed. With that the snows came to an end, but behind it was left a bitter silence that swallowed the sound around it. Expectations of active wildlife had dissipated when the snowstorm calmed. All lay hidden from its frozen kiss and none found joy in baying to the moon in search of the lost. All that could be heard were the crackles of their fire. Let us purify your heart! words: 531 - tags: @blackwizardoflight - notes: you can't see predators in the dark

Alwyn did not like his situation. Not one bit. Sure, one of the twins was cordial to him. Nymph, was it? Yeah. The other one looked like he would much rather enjoy a nice plate of roasted Black Mage. Granted, he had been in worse situations, which really didn't help calm his nerves any. Cannibalistic Mountain Deities seemed like a welcome respite next to a God of Chaos who threatened to end the world through a stable time loop. That didn't mean it wasn't dangerous. Still, Alwyn kept his wits about him. He wasn't going to strike unless they did. They would find that someone as versed in black magic as Alwyn would not be so easy to take down, even if it was in the bitter cold. However, even that was fine, as Alwyn had been warming up, thanks to the fire. In fact, this was probably a good point to get away from these two. He still had to get down the mountain before it got dark, after all. However, Alwyn was still polite, if anything. "Yes, very far away. Though I can't say I don't enjoy my journey from that miserable place, even on these snowy peaks."
It was the truth. He was always seen as a monster in Pravoka and that hadn't changed when the mage saved them from pirates or even when he saved the world. They just saw him as something they wanted to drive away from their homes but couldn't because of his power. He was glad to be away, even if it meant having to camp out in a ruined village. Heck, even these Gods who looked at the mage WAY too hungrily were good company. At least they were polite. Alwyn's train of thought derailed when Nymph asked his question. Huh... the path of light, eh? Why was this starting to sound familiar? "Well... yeah, I suppose you would be correct. I do follow the path of light. Maybe not as steadfastly as my cohorts, but when one of them introduced himself as, literally, the "Warrior of Light", I can say it wasn't for a lack of effort. Of course, that's not to say I truly hate the Darkness. It just seems a large amount of people one might consider evil use Darkness for their own ends, rather than heroes."
Again, pretty much the truth. Alwyn didn't so much fight the Darkness as he fought people who used the Darkness to hurt people. It did seem like there were a large amount of villains that used Darkness. Then again, there were people who thought that Black Magic was inherently evil, so technically they'd think Alwyn was a villain, too. While it was true that for one to use White Magic one needed to be a bit more Altruistic than Alwyn himself was capable of, it didn't mean that Black Magic was inherently evil. Of course, by the time the mage even began to explain that, he was usually being pelted by insults and slurs.
Man, his world really was the pits sometimes.

Let my fangs set you free
Such encounters of desperation could raise a number of questions. How far has a world fallen for its deities to turn to the flesh of man for sustenance, if these even were gods, or has this world always been so barbaric as to harbor such malignant entities. Was it perhaps part of the growing darkness that seemed fit to consume the universe? The questions themselves would have no answers though, unless spoken aloud. But would one wish to hear the answers? So far from civilization it was hard to tell what sated the wild spirits that roved the mountainside. Along the roads there seemed offerings set aside to sate such vicious tendencies: to buy the favor of the spirits. A bit of beer and some sweet cakes seemed hardly enough to fill the bellies of mountain lords, but sometimes it was the only measure of protection a traveler had.
In a land where wizards of the court traveled naught farther than the emperor’s court it was certainly a treat for raucous gods. Where the bow and blade tempered skin against the contest of soldiers the magicks of wizards were ever the unforeseen blasphemy: a mortal’s unparalleled skill over the elements where, traditionally, twas only power in the favor of a god. But -- were they gods, or merely mischievous sprites that harbor the hallowed woods? The Unseelie are sometimes well known for shapeshifting and seeding doubt among travelers, making their sleep tense and their travels difficult. Perhaps these two were large fae who had taken the guise of men?
As Alwyn spoke the younger looking of the two would rest his empty cup down, eyes pinching up in an apathetic smile. “So you too have found such misery in your travels?” He lamented. It seemed the case with many of those who sought to wander far into the snowy domain. It was as if they were searching for death among what all remained of this village. Though some villages still existed on the edges of the region it was not without struggle for few would travel to a place where the scattered Mongol hordes occasionally crossed. “It seems a more common story come each passing moon.” He professed before looking up to the larger male, whom quickly turned his gaze away.
Titan had been staring at Alwyn with what seemed to be thoughts behind those brutish eyes. The feral hunger that painted his features with a half-sneer only did to curl into ravenous disgust at his mention of being born of a land far from here. The gaze of his sibling caused his focus to turn, a sly grin drawing over his pursed lips.
Titan scratched his chin brows knitting as his head lowered and tilted to the side. “It almost sounds as if this place is paradise next to misery.” His Amber eyes drifted towards the wizard before he snorted and looked away.
It was the most the belligerent glutton had spoke. With a voice that cut like fangs against flesh: a gnashing, taunting reapute, it truly seemed that his thoughts lie in what way best was it to eat a mage. An intimidating stature coupled with a fierce pride caused the space they shared to feel closed in, regardless of its openness. Eyes would be tempted to check twice and make sure there was a way out lest the beast’s patience ran out.
Nymph crossed his arms over his chest as he tilted his head in thought. Behind him Titan stirred with mirth. “How arrogant.” The ferine 'god’ bellowed. “You think the Darkness can be anything but evil?” He turned his head away and laughed.
Nymph rubbed the side of his head, that nervous grin still playing upon his features. “What my brother means to say is…” He opened his eyes and looked to Alwyn. “It doesn't seem at all possible.” He tried to speak with greater diplomacy. “You see if Darkness is allowed to become close to the Light it become corrupted.” He motions his hand to Alwyn. “After all, you're proof, no?”
. . .Proof of?
Titan leaned forward, having crossed his legs. His hands rest upon his knees and he would rest his head over Nymph’s shoulder. His lips pulled back as a darkness came over his eyes. “You're corrupted.” A seedy chuckled penetrated the air as his hot breath turned to mist around them, akin to smoke escaping the jaws of a venomous dragon. “I can taste it.” He mused, allowing his tongue to brush over his lip. “Eventually you'll become like them.”
With their chatter it had quickly filled the silence. It was not until Titan brought attention to it could one see it. The Shadows that wandered the ruins, the remnants of their home, searching for the hearts they had lost. At the witching hour Shadow Heartless filled the brunt ruins, endlessly roaming for meaning in their drifting existences.

... This conversation skipped some levels.
Alwyn was confused. Corrupted? What were they talking about? Titan seemed to have a very narrow view of Light and Darkness. Then again, they could hardly be blamed for that. After all, Darkness always seemed to be in the hands of evildoers, right? Wasn't it inherently evil? But then was Black Magic inherently evil because it was mainly used by villains for destruction? Alwyn didn't think so. He saved the world with Black Magic, no less. However, before Alwyn could voice his opinions on the matter, Titan's outburst had allowed Alwyn to see the Heartless. Small ones, but no less dangerous. He sighed in frustration. THAT didn't last long, did it? And he had just gotten warm, too. "Honestly, just once, I'd like to sit in peace without having to deal with those things. One second." For some reason, the feeling that these two were going to eat him seemed less concerning than the threat of the Heartless. Then again, six in one hand, half a dozen in the other. Alwyn just knew that the twins hadn't eaten him YET and the Heartless were going to attack regardless. In this instance, Alwyn sided with the lesser evil.
Alwyn picked up his staff, his crystal hanging from a chain that was hanging from the head of the magical device. He walked away from the campfire a bit and then raised it high, as the sky darkened with cloud cover. "THUNDARA!" Alwyn yelled, the area around him becoming alight with lightning bolts, as if Raiden himself had grown wrathful at the dark creatures. Alwyn then looked around to make sure he wasn't being flanked by all sides by the Heartless. He wasn't sure if the twins would help and didn't particularly care, either. His magic had always pulled him through the fight, it wouldn't fail him now.
Hopefully.

Let my fangs set you free
It didn't take much for the brothers to get under Alwyn's skin, but that meant Alwyn was a sensible person with sensible morals. Something about the pair did to make those that had a head on their shoulders reel. Red flags sat in a ring around them, warning others of the danger and yet they seemed a harmless pair. Their youthful visages and casual dress gave the appearance of those who were without experience in the world and little more than a pair of reckless whelps out to cause trouble to feed their rebellious vices.
Titan's gaze was comparable to that of a beast. A creature who lived only to eat and grow. His wild hair stood apart from Nymph's and his energy was that of a rowdy pup yet to understand the weight of his own leash. With a voracious appetite coupled with a haunting intelligence the massive man was not without his wisdom. At six and two his deep voice and feral hunch painted the image of a wild man with no sense for the world. Toned and athletically fit he was the epitome of a warrior but among them -- he was the hunter. The calculating wolf that fed from fear.
Nymph's passive nature was much more like a man. Cool and calm he had a kindness that was so pure it could only be regarded as that of an Angel and warden of light. But that purity came with a vexing sense of superiority that caused him to bathe in the suffering of the dark. Gluttonous in his way for retribution and banishing the unjust that he could not harbor the idea that a denizen of the light sat before him wielding the tools of the dark. He would do what he would to lull the darkness into a sense of peace. If it meant lying he would do so. He had no will to learn of the world outside of his own justice and was a patron of holy fire.
They would both relish in watching the worlds burn.
In shadow.
And in light.
"How slothful... you called them here after all..." The older, smaller Jiao-long cocked his head, grinning coldly as if Alwyn was the enemy. "How foolish. They only come out at night when there's something to eat-- even the tiniest bit of doubt." Titan added as Nymph pushed to his feet the robes dropping from his person. He was dressed more like a youth from off world than his own, but he has seen the worlds beyond hos own star and knew well of their corruptions.
Titan pushed up and reached his arm overhead so he did not bump the lower arch of the tower as he stepped out, boots digging into the snow as he shed the robes guarding them from the cold, not that he needed it but it covered their clothing from prying eyes and curious birds. The feral brute grinned. There was a herd of them, at least ten! His jaws parted and what looked to be shadows seeped from his mouth.
"This is great. I haven't had a snack in a while..." He looked to Nymph who stepped out from underneath, rubbing his arms at the sensation of shifting temperature.
Alwyn's Thundara easily ripped through the snow and consumed a number of the Shadows, cutting down three of them easily. Nymph looked disgruntled as he flexed his thin digits, holding up his wrist as he rubbed his arm, but the more he did so a light wrapped around his arm. "I guess, don't over do it." He seemed to be non-committed about handling the Heartless.
Titan on the other hand... let out a feral laugh and charged out into the field of battle, the shade spilling from his mouth before he lunged at one of the Heartless and bit into it. The action looked to absorb the creature as he moved to stand with movements akin to a serpent and brushed his thumb over his mouth. Nymph, on the other, looked to Alwyn and shrugged as he trotted out, facing him.
"Does this happen to you a lot?" The lad brought a good question to the table. Maybe it was Alwyn who summoned them. The smaller twin lunged at another Shadow, jumping into the air and coming down as he drew his arm back. When he landed he sucker punched the Heartless Shadow with the full force burst of what could be described as a close ranged Holy spell. That was another two down leaving only five, failing shadows to remain. Void Bite: 3 Cooldown Focusing darkness in his mouth, Fai can bite an opponent with his dragon teeth. This ability counts as magic so cuts through Protect-like spells and abilities. Light Punch: 3 Cooldown Focusing light around his right hand, Cai throws a punch that counts as a Magic attack and cannot be defended against with Protect or Protect-like abilities.

Alwyn had made a pretty good decision, if he did say so himself. After this fight, he was going to gather his things and get outta here. This encounter with the twins had gone south in a way that Alwyn hadn't predicted and then there was the Heartless problem. As Titan fought, he noticed that he was almost bestial in his movements, slithering like a snake through the snow. Alwyn hadn't figured them for humans, but now he was almost curious as to what they actually were. However, he wasn't so curious as to actually ask that question. That usually followed by becoming dinner. Then Nymph, the one who had been holding the conversation with Alwyn all this time, came up to his side and asked him about the Heartless. The Black Mage sighed and spoke, "Often enough to be annoying. If I didn't know better, I'd say they've been following me, but apparently these things are a problem everywhere." Once again, he didn't mention the possibility of other worlds. Their intentions were still a mystery to Alwyn and the mage wasn't especially in a hurry to find out or help them in their endeavors. However, it was now back to the problem at hand.
The twins were pretty good in a fight, to say the least. However, there were still remnants left to take care of. Alwyn turned to the three and cast Fira at them, pillars of fire erupting under the Heartless and melting the snow around it. He was sure that would be enough, considering they were weak Shadows in comparison to some of the more powerful Heartless roaming around. However, if it wasn't, the twin could surely handle the rest. Judging from Titan's personality, Alwyn hoped he liked cooked Heartless. The black mage took the time to get a quick glance at his surroundings. Experience taught him that if there was one Heartless, there would be more. If there was a small group of Heartless, a LOT more. Alwyn wasn't sure why he was being pestered by them, but he was sure, or hoping at least, that he wasn't the one drawing the Heartless to the worlds. That would really put a damper in his day.

Let my fangs set you free Everywhere, Alwyn assured himself. But what did these natives of the mountain know? It seemed their whole lives they hunted on these ranges and Heartless were no different than the wolves to them, or the stag. Either you hunted them, or you left them be. There never seemed two ways to the decision. The titanic beast of a man had fallen to all fours, like some feral animal. The way the shadows encapsulated his form, wrapping subtly around his ankles and wrists made him seem more a wolf than man. His jaws rest parted as he breathed heavily from the intake of darkness. This was an unsatisfying meal. It was empty, devoid of anything lasting. It was unlike the light which was rich and full of life, energy -- potential. Amber eyes drifted to Alwyn. If he could consume enough he could become a beast of the light. For a moment a flash of maliciousness exposed split pupil. But a trick of the mind it must have been as in another moment he was at full height, letting his covered wrist brush over his chin, the feathers decorating the rope around it dance in the wintry wind. A shadowy exhale blew from his breathe in the stead of the sight of a warmed breathe on the wind. "I can't say that... they were very appetizing, this time." He complained. Nymph let his arms fall to the side of his body. His hands and wrists seemed seemed to expel an equally bizarre vapor of energy, remnant of the ethereal spirits known to wander the barren cemeteries. For him the experience was quite different. Being able to smite the darkness had filled him with a renewed vigor. His bright smile was indicative of this euphoric swell in his chest as the consumed darkness became part of him. If he continued on this path he was assured he would become a beast of darkness, but in such he would have smote every possible vector of shadows in his path. It filled him with purpose and power! For a brief moment the glitter of white scales traced his cheeks as he sighed, warm breathe colored by the cold air. "I was expecting more of a fight, they seemed to have a goal in mind, but again their only purpose seems to be to eat." He laughed. "I suppose they are animals." His hand raised up so he could flex his digits, releasing the stress created by his overwhelming punch. "I'm sorry." He turned his gaze to Alwyn. A stream of tears raced from his eyes, the rivulets pouring from his cheeks. Titan moved to stand behind the smaller twin, his gloved hand coming up to rest on Nymph's shoulder. The claret-eyed boy bit back a sob. How wretched... to be looked upon in such overwhelming pity. One could see in the boy a sense of despair as he sunk his face into his own gloved hand, boots digging into the snow with a crunch. Titan's lip curled at the dubious response from his elder kin. Though twins they had some distinct differences such as a shade darker and lighter between their hair, as well as a minor shift in height and -- those eyes. Titan's burned with the ferocity of a beast while Nymph's were the eyes of a calculated killer. The glare of the crimson round peered up between his digits, his bangs cutting across the moonlight and creating an unsettling dissonance between his light and the darkness that filled Titan. "To think you suffer this wherever you go." He lamented before reaching up to grab Titan's wrist with enough force to cause the larger male's lip to curl slightly in pain. "Let me help you." A frown came across the brute's face at his sibling's pain. But was it pain? It looked far from it. "Gege..." Trying to wrest his limb from his brother's hold he would soon free it. Looking to Alwyn he cocked his head. "Gege knows best, he's saved lots others from their darkness." The creature in human flesh seemed convinced of this fact. And yet...
