It was yet another sunny, tropical day in Destiny Islands, and Riku was spending it lying on the beach. Not sunbathing or anything like that, but thinking. He always seemed to be able to think clearer out here, away from the noise of the town. At least, since he returned to this world. He remembered a time when he felt so confined by this place, like he was stuffed in a trunk with no air. It was impossible to think about anything but leaving in a situation like that. He had gone through many changes since then, however. Experienced much. Now, he felt that the world he called home was less confining and more cozy. However, he hungered for adventure lately. It had been so long since he went on an adventure because he wanted to. Normally, there was a sense of urgency about the adventures he went on. That, or he didn't really have a choice in the matter. Or felt like he didn't. When he was a young boy, going on pretend adventures with Sora, he thought that the reality was going to be similar. However, he would find out that it was much different. With a heavy sigh, Riku sat up and looked out over the ocean, a small smile finding its way to his lips. "I guess... I have one more adventure left in me." He said to no one in particular, standing up and stretching with a yawn. As he thought about his impending journey, one thought crossed the boy's mind; where would he go?

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"]❝ Rina stumbled into her Gummi ship, shutting the door behind her with a pneumatic hiss. Finally! Everything delivered. She had been working for nearly 36 hours straight trying to finish several projects and get them all to her customers in a timely manner. Why does everyone have to live so far from everyone else?! She had no idea how she had managed to get bombarded with so much work, but she knew to never take on such a load ever again. No matter how well they pay! Oh Rina. Quit lying to yourself.
Rina flopped down into the chair at the controls, dropping her delivery bag to the floor. The various munny and gil contained inside clinked against each other at the impact. The girl’s blue eyes stared blankly at the control panel. She was so exhausted that she didn’t know what to do. She really needed to get some sleep before she took to the sky, but she really wanted to go home. With a sigh she hit the autopilot button and set the coordinates for home. She could go and catch a couple z’s and if anything happened to the ship or if enemies were picked up on the sensors an alarm would sound and wake her up and she could take the controls. As the Gummi ship started to ascend, Rina (with her eyes already starting to close) made her way to the small bed tucked into the corner. She was out before her head even hit the pillow.
Rina woke up to the acrid smell of smoke infiltrating her nostrils and screaming sirens assaulting her ears. With a yelp she jumped from the bed, quickly scanning her surroundings. Rina gasped at what she saw. A small fire had started from somewhere outside of the ship and had quickly spread to the interior. It was starting to come across the control panel, but it had yet to reach the steering controls. The windshield had been cracked from the middle, going outwards like a spider web. Through it Rina could see that she was losing altitude and losing it fast. “I’M CRASHING!”, she yelled into the cabin. Not missing a beat Rina jumped into the pilot’s chair and started to pull up on the controls. They weren’t responding properly, and Rina could hear the engine straining against her pull. “Ahhhh come on you piece of sh-!”
But it was too late. Rina came falling from the sky and skipped across an ocean like a skipping stone. Her ship only stopped after it came upon a beach and became embedded into the sand. The windshield was disintegrated by the impact, spraying Rina with glass. She had been thrown from the chair and tossed to the side like a doll. Rina’s body was wracked with pain that she had never felt before and one thought crossed her mind before she lost consciousness.

As Riku began to consider going on home, he noticed a shape in the sky barreling towards the beach at high speeds. The boy narrowed his eyes at the shape. As it moved closer, Riku knew for sure what it was; a gummi ship! But out here? 'I wonder who that could be?' Whoever it was, it quickly became apparent that they were in trouble. The ship was out of control! Not only that, but once it hit the ocean and began to skip across it towards the beach, Riku realized that it was headed right for him! Reacting quickly, the silver-haired teen lunged out of the way, the ship crashing into the sand where he was standing seconds ago. Rising to his feet, the young man, brushed the sand off his jacket and pants before turning to look at the wreckage behind him. The crash looked bad.
'What the heck...?' Hurrying to the remains of the ship, Riku noticed that the windshield had been completely blown out by the impact. He ducked under the frame of the ship, heading inside to check and see if the pilot was alright. It didn't take him long to find her unconscious on the floor. "Hey, hey, are you hurt?" Riku sighed and picked the girl up, taking her out of the wreckage and setting her on the beach. 'Man, I hope she's alright.' He frowned slightly and put a finger on her wrist, feeling her pulse to at least make sure she was alive. It felt strong, thankfully. 'Must have just bumped her head in the crash. Still, I better stay for a moment and make sure she's alright.'

The alarms that had been blaring had stopped at the impact, but Rina could still hear them ringing in her ears. She could still smell smoke lingering in the air and she was hoping that the fire was out at this point. She knew that she needed to get up and escape the ship. It had to be a deathtrap at this point. But it hurts…Oh Shiva it hurts so bad…
Rina had her eyes squeezed shut, trying to concentrate on her body. She was trying to take inventory on her body to see how much damage had been done. Her head was throbbing, so she at least had a mild concussion. She was coherent and obviously in pain so there shouldn’t be anything wrong with her brain that couldn’t be fixed. She tentatively went to move her legs and was greeted with pain as she moved them. Great, my spine is intact! But something is definitely broken down there. She stopped moving at once. She could feel the panic start to overtake her. I’m going to be stuck here, no one will find me, I’m going to die here! She started to sob, each breath that she took in burning in her ribs like fire. This made her sob even harder, because she was sure she probably had some broken ribs as well. Everything seemed to be falling down around her.
The pain ended up being too much for Rina, even though she was trying as hard as she could to stay awake. She laid as still as she could manage and made slow and measured breaths. Rina tried to shut everything off and shut everything out. She was trying to will the pain to go away and she was praying for numbness. Someone must have taken pity on her because unconsciousness overtook her once again.
Rina wasn’t sure how much time had passed, but she could tell someone was there. Someone was saving her. She could feel herself being lifted up off of the floor. Rina groaned softly at the pain that she felt from head to toe. No no…please put me down. Almost like she was heard, Rina felt herself be lowered on the ground. She could feel sand underneath her hands and the oceans waves nearby. The ocean? What a nice place to die.
Rina slowly slid her eyes open, the bright island sun immediately assaulting them. She blinked a few time before her eyes were adjusted. And that’s when she saw him. A beautiful man with piercing aqua eyes and long flowing silver hair. An angel…I'm already gone?

Riku was in the middle of checking the girl's injuries when she suddenly let out a noise, mumbling some words, the only one of which Riku could understand being "heaven." He let out a slight chuckle. This girl was clearly delirious from the pain or something. "No, i'm afraid this isn't heaven." He replied. "You're still very much alive, but I think you hurt yourself." He stood up straight and called his Keyblade, Way to the Dawn, to his hand. "I know some magic. I can help. Just hold still." Taking the blade in both hands, the silver-haired teen held the point above the girl's chest. Riku's form flashed green briefly before the girl's body would do the same.
Then, by magic, her wounds were beginning to be healed. "It won't heal you completely, but it should help with the pain and some of your more severe injuries." He couldn't help but feel sorry for her. Crashing a gummi ship was kind of dumb, they weren't all that difficult to pilot from what he knew, but looking at her before him now, she looked incredibly fragile. Riku wasn't without sympathy after all. To try and get her mind off things, and to sate his curiosity, he decided to ask her a question. "So, you're from another world? Where are you from?" Once the spell was cast, Riku would flick his wrist and dismiss his blade. "I'm Riku by the way." He introduced himself after that.

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"]❝ Rina watched the man’s lips move and heard his slow and peaceful voice speaking to her, but she found it hard to concentrate on the words. She scrunched her blue eyes closed before opening them again. Y-you’re still here. I guess that means you’re real. Rina reached out a shaking hand and touched the stranger’s arm. This time she could make out the words that he was saying. "I can help. Just hold still."
He had summoned an odd-looking sword from thin air and then casted a magic spell on her. It must have been a healing spell of some sort because as soon as the green light settled around her, the pain went away. Well almost. The parts of her that she knew had been broken still had a dull ache emanating from them. Those would take longer to heal, but at least the magic would set them properly. Rina had re-broken bones before just to set them right.
Rina sat up slowly, grunting with the effort. Even though she had come up slow her, her head was spinning just a little bit. The silver haired man was talking to her again. He was asking her a bunch of questions. Please slow down. My brain…my brain can’t keep up. W-was that his name? R-riku?

Thankfully, it seemed like Riku's Cure spell had done its job. It wouldn't heal her completely, but she was at least stable and no longer in intense pain. There was that at least. She grabbed onto his arm and began to sit up after his spell took effect. He had made the mistake of asking her a bunch of questions, however. He couldn't help it. His curiosity had gotten the better of him. "I'm sorry." He stated after Rina's confused response. Giving her a moment to sit up and get her bearings, Riku asked her a simpler question. One that she would hopefully be able to answer. "How do you feel?"
He tried to figure out the situation in his mind, thinking over the final moments before the crash. It appeared she had lost control over the ship as it entered the world. Unfortunately, the ship itself was far too damaged to discern a cause very easily. The best option for now would be for him to wait for the woman to recover so she could answer his questions.

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"]❝ Rina’s eyes quietly took in her surroundings. Her and Riku were sitting on the edge of a beach. There was a teeny island not too far away. Way off into the distance she could see a larger island that seemed to be the mainland. This could be heaven. She looked back at Riku. He was speaking to her and asking her how she was feeling. There was a sharp throbbing still in her head and around various limbs, but she was on the road to recovery.
“I’m…I’m okay. I think. I’m banged up, but I think I’ll live. Thank you, Riku? It’s Riku, right?” She took another look around and finally came across the wreckage of the ship. Her bruised hands flew to cover her mouth as she gasped. “No…oh no!” Her Gummi ship was destroyed. Absolutely effing destroyed. The left wing was missing, the right one was still smoking, and the windshield was nonexistent. “Oh Shiva…my ship. My poor ship.” Warm tears started to track down her face and quiet sobs started to escape from her lips. What am I going to do?
Without thinking Rina stood up, aiming to walk over to the wreckage. Her broken leg wasn’t having any of it though, and with a yelp she fell back into the sand. She sat there and angrily cursed, beating her fist into the sand. “This can’t be happening to me…”

Once Rina had a chance to get her bearings, she thanked Riku for his help, asking if she got his name right. The young Keyblade wielder didn't really hold it against her. She seemed pretty out of it when he pulled her from that wreckage. He nodded before responding. "Yeah, it's Riku. Don't mention it. That crash looked pretty ba--" Then, she must have gotten a look at her wrecked ship, letting out a surprised gasp followed by a few words of despair, she got up and made an attempt to run over to her ship. The teen tried to stop her from getting up, but it was too late. Rina didn't manage to take a single step, however, and fell back onto the sand with a yelp.
She seemed rather angry about the whole situation, beating the sand with her fists and cursing. Riku felt a little awkward, not entirely sure what he should do. He could understand her anger, but wasn't sure he could do anything to help. "Uh..." He swallowed hard, waiting for her to finish before speaking up. "Look, if getting home is what you're concerned about, I have a friend who has a ship. I'm sure he'd take you back to wherever you belong." He was talking, of course, about Sora. Knowing him, he likely wouldn't turn down the chance to help someone in need.
He'd offer to take her home himself, but his method of travel probably wouldn't agree with her. The darkness loomed close in the corridors. It didn't bother Riku much as his heart had gained some form of resistance to the dark's ravages, but he was fairly certain this stranger didn't have the same resistance. "But, uh... just calm down, okay? You're still recovering, so that isn't good for you."

That ship was…was my only way…” Rina couldn’t finish her sentence because of the sobs that had come back over her. That ship was her only way to do anything really. Without that ship she had no way to travel back and forth from her home, had no way to travel to and from different worlds to sell her wares and get supplies. And now she had no way back home. Rina heard Riku say that he had a way to take her home, but it didn’t matter. It didn’t matter because even if she went home she wouldn’t have a way to work. She was screwed.
Rina had stayed there crying for a good while before she was able to pull herself back together. She turned to look at the silver haired young man and shame started to fill her up. She didn’t mean to be as rude as she was. She knew he was acting with nothing but a good heart, and Rina was most likely acting like an ungrateful ass. It was just that this was probably the worst thing to ever happen to the girl (and she had had a lot of bad stuff happen to her) and she wasn’t sure how to get her head to wrap around the situation.
“Oh Riku…I’m so sorry. I’m not usually this…rude.” Rina sniffled and wiped some tears from her face. “I’m just a little o-overwhelmed. I don’t even think I’ve introduced myself have I? I’m Rina. Rina Croft.”

'Oh jeez...' Riku felt incredibly uncomfortable, just standing there awkwardly as Rina sobbed. 'Please just stop crying...' He thought desperately, averting his gaze from the girl as she continued on with her sob fest. He felt sympathy for her, but he didn't do well in situations like this. At last, the crying was finished, Rina turning to look at him. When she did so, Riku turned his gaze back to her as well. It was strange; he could practically feel the shame radiating off of her. "Uh..." The silver-haired wielder searched for the proper words to make this a little less awkward, but thankfully, the stranger decided to speak first, apologizing for her behavior and introducing herself as "Rina." The teen gave her a nod of acknowledgement, feeling a little less awkward about the situation already.
"Rina." He scratched the back of his head nervously. "It's okay, you're not being rude... I just don't handle those kinds of things well." Riku let out an exhale that he felt as though he had been holding in since their conversation began. At this point, he could think more clearly. Now that he thought about it, Mickey's castle had a gummi ship hangar. Perhaps Chip and Dale could help outfit her with a new ship? Deciding to tell Rina his idea, he took a step closer to the maiden. "Look, I don't want you to get your hopes up, but I have some friends that might be able to help you get a new ship or at least fix your old one. Ever been to Disney Castle before?" Riku continued.
"There are at least a couple of individuals there that will have the tools to help you out. Their names are Chip and Dale. They are... small in stature, but they know a lot about gummi ships." Remembering that she was injured, however, Riku frowned. "We should wait awhile for that, though. You're still to injured to even stand." He wondered where Sora was. Surely he had better healing magic than Riku did. The young Master had no clue where his friend was, however, so that would be kind of a long shot. 'Probably taking a nap somewhere.' Riku thought to himself, amused.

Good going, Rina. You always scare the nice ones off. The silver haired man mentioned going to Disney Castle to fix up her Gummi Ship. Rina shook her head as his question.
“I’ve heard of it, but I’ve never been. That’s where the mouse king lives, right? If you think that’d be the right thing to do.” Rina looked forlornly at her ship. “Looks like we just need to take a trip to the scrapyard instead…” Rina scooped up a handful of sand and watched it flow through her fingers. She frowned as she noticed that her right hand was starting to bruise back up, even though Riku had healed her.
"We should wait awhile for that, though. You're still to injured to even stand."
Rina hummed in agreement. “Yeah…I’m busted up. Rest sounds good, but Riku? Can I have some shade? I don’t tan, I turn lobster.” She smiled up at Riku and hoped her joke let him know she was in better spirits. She looked around the small island they were on. Riku listened to Rina's response, chuckling slightly at her calling Mickey "the mouse king." He nodded to her in confirmation. "Yeah, he's a friend of mine. When he hears about your troubles, i'm certain he'll want to help." That was Mickey's way. He always seemed to want to help a soul in need. Him and Sora were alike in that way. People like Sora, Mickey, and Kairi too were just good people in that regard. He couldn't help but think their good nature rubbed off on him. The way he just charged into the smoldering wreckage of a gummi ship like that... he wasn't sure if he would have done the same thing just a couple of years ago.
His thoughts were interrupted when Rina requested some shade, stating that she didn't tan, but turned "lobster," which Riku assumed just meant she burned from the sun. Chuckling slightly, Riku nodded at her. "Alright. There's plenty of shade around here." Picking Rina up as gently as possible, Riku moved her near the trees, setting her down under one of them and in the shade. "There. Is that better?" He smiled at the girl, the feeling of nervousness fading now that things were settling down. Sitting next to her, Riku decided to actually strike up a conversation to keep things from getting weird again.
"So, where are you from, exactly?"

This is perfect.” With a few groans of pain, Rina had wiggled her way out of her leather jacket, revealing a few more bruises dotted around both of her arms. She hadn’t been this beat up in a long time. She also pulled off her combat boots as well, feeling the warm sand between her toes. “This just might turn into a vacation, Riku. What do you say?”
After this Riku inquired about where Rina came from. Even though it was an innocent enough question, it made Rina’s stomach churn just a little. “I uh…I’m kinda couch surfing at the moment. I’m staying with friends, working my tail off. I can’t go home yet. A lot happened…” Rina grew silent for a moment, before drawing in a breath and continuing to speak. “Anyway, I’m from a little place called Radiant Garden. You probably haven’t heard of it.”

"A vacation?" Riku blinked a few times when Rina mentioned that. This was kind of a strange way to start a vacation... crash landing on your vacation spot. Where would she stay though? It wasn't like they had much in the way of hotels. His home didn't get many visitors. The mention of couch surfing caused Riku to come to a conclusion about what the woman possibly meant. Did she want to stay with him? A look of concern crossed Riku's face once that thought entered his mind, causing him to look out at the ocean to hide it. It wasn't like he particularly minded, but his parents were a different story.
It wasn't like he had his own place or his own couch for Rina to crash on after all. His mom might not have minded. She was always more of a passive parent. His dad though... he'd definitely have something to say. Rina was a girl, for one. Two, she was very clearly older than the silver-haired boy. By how much, Riku didn't know, but she was very clearly an adult. Not to mention Riku hadn't even been home yet. He wanted to avoid going home until he knew how he was going to explain his long absence and the absence of his friends. He couldn't just tell the truth, could he? It was difficult for Riku to think of himself as a kid, but his parents still saw him that way, he bet.
He wanted his return to go as smoothly as possible and showing up with an older woman likely wouldn't help matters. When Radiant Garden was mentioned, Riku nodded at the name of the place. "Yeah, i've... visited before." In truth, Riku had lived there before for a brief period. He hadn't been lately, though. He didn't like going there. That castle, ever in the distance, held more than a few bad memories for him.
