Something about a town where the sun never sets. Perhaps it's simply the lighting, but shopping for the holidays always felt so much more comfortable when you were crossing worlds to do it. Oswald has fired up the old Trolley, bringing it into Twilight Town and actually causing quite a bit of a raucous as a lot of the locals weren't quite used to what amounted to a small train making it's way through the main streets. Thankfully he'd switched it to 'trackless' mode and went slow. He didn't wanna be a bother. The well lit streets were soon mixed with more lights, as the various multi-hued baubles and Christmas lights hung off the sides of the trolley, combined with the rows of tinsel and the festive wreath at the front of the vehicle that just made it absolutely perfect. Making his way out of a nearby store on Market Street, Oswald was dressed in something that clashed with his regular blue shorts for once! He was wearing a completely obnoxious looking blue santa outfit, complete with hanging holly on his belt and a big bell a jinglin' along with his swaying movements. In his arms, he held what looked like a small tower of various wrapped up boxes and small presents. The demand for those was a little high when you had a family like his. With his trolley already stacked up to the brim with parcels and boxes, he was starting to run out of room to put them in. He'd have to start trying to store them in the bag, though that often tended to go wrong. Still, he swaggered his way down the street, stopping just by a set of staring onlookers - a young couple with their jaws firmly unlocked as they watched him fling each of the presents with supreme accuracy, right into the trolley - one after another - and creating a perfect little duo of stacks , leaning comfortably against the railings and leaving room for him to climb aboard. This stuff sure was cheap. Ah, he figured, it'd probably be best to get more of this stuff for his kids by some other method. Personally, he was curious about visiting that fellow with the robe and the beard and the long hat who loved to give away free gifts. What was his name? Yen Sid? Charitable was one way of putting it. For the moment ,his thoughts shifted towards giving a good deed a shot. These locals were nice to him - so nice that he wanted to give right back to the lost of them by the days end. Which considering the day never ended here meant he had plenty of time. Climbing up to the top of his trolley, he quickly reached to his belt and rang out his bell, a loud clinging filling the streets as his ears dexterously took hold of several presents and threw them up into the air, allowing them to descend very slowly. Lucky draft. "Merry Christmas, everybody! Hope you're all having a great time! Thanks for the hospitality, you're all the best!" it was a cavalcade of multitasking, between bell-ringing, posing with his free hand and using those ears of his to toss the presents to their targets rather heartily. Admittedly, there was a bit of confusion...but the majority of the reactions seemed to be positive. "Come one, come all! Young and old, spread some cheer in your neighborhood today! And I've gotta say, you have one biiiig neighborhood! I measured it, the numbers are off the chart - literally, I had to buy a new chart, but there's so much stuff to buy here that I brought se-ven!" he tossed two presents out at once, landing in the hands of the stunned onlookers, who were inspecting them with glee. Rina looked at the small box that had landed in her hands. It was wrapped in beautiful blue wrapping paper that was embossed with silver ivy. Something about the paper struck her deep in her soul. Almost like she had remembered something that she had long forgotten. But it wasn't a whole memory, not yet. Just little whispers of a memory. The longer she stared at the package, the stronger the feeling became. Rina didn't realize she had been crying until tears fell down her face and onto her present. With a surprised gasp Rina came out of her reverie. It was like time had been stopped before, but now the world went on around her.
Rina looked up at the animal (she thought it was some sort of animal) that had been throwing out the gifts. Ah! He was a rabbit! She'd never seen a rabbit look as odd as this one did. He was standing on two feet, had on clothes, was driving a magnificent trolley and was speaking! Rina had seen many things in her life, but this was a new one. He sort of reminded her of that mouse king she had seen before. The girl looked back down at the box in her hands and then around the street. She hadn't celebrated Christmas in a very long time. The holiday just made her heart ache. But it seemed that this silly rabbit had other plans for her this year. She looked at him, his ears still swirling about.
"Thank you", she whispered.

You'll be lucky too! Ahh, charity was like a special little cup of cocoa. It warms the soul in such fantastic new ways – be it the holidays or not, you have to enjoy the gift that keeps on giving. In a way, Oswald knew that his purchasing from these people left him with something to give to them…and with that, they would find the motivation to do more. Paying it forward in its finest form! Yet, amidst these many cheerful citizens, there was one particular person in Twilight Town that caught his attention. Rina didn’t FEEL like any of the other locals. Oswald had gotten a decent sense for them and what they were like. Her? She was odd. And she’d gotten one of his last gifts, a brief wave thrown in her direction as he did so to all the other locals in attendance.
“You’ve been fantastic, ladies and gents. Remember, luck’s just a fine reward for being a good sport! So show some generosity and love your neighbours, your spirit will soar!” He doffed his droopy, fluffy hat off and gave a little bow to them. Amidst the applause, however, he paid attention to the odd girl he’d seen watching him in surprise. He loved that look!
Perhaps he merely had an obsession with people taking an interest to him. Hogging all the attention? Well, the king would certainly say that…and he’d likely be right, especially when it comes to these sorts of people.
Oh, his ears were sharp. Sharp enough to pick those words up like a radar. Literally, his ears swivelled in her direction. In one fell leap, he bounced through the air and floated down before her, giving her a little bow.
“Y’ello! Didn’t see you there! And people think you can just look down on people from high up. You miss the best ones!” He grinned toothily, features soon relaxing as he took the sort of relaxed poise he would in any daily conversation. “Name’s Oswald – pleased to meet someone who likes the soils of charity. Warms the cockles of the heart, right?”

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"]❝ Rina’s eyes had almost popped out of their sockets as the rabbit plopped down in front of her. She was in awe the entire time that he spoke that she could only focus on bits and pieces. She thought he said something about her being the best (Best? Best what?) and she was able to focus on his words when he introduced himself. His name was Oswald. That was a funny name for a rabbit. Hell, that was a funny name for a human, but she decided that it suited him just fine. And yes. Rina thought her heart was warmer in this moment than it had been in months. Her present, the scenery in town, and this funny little Oswald. It just made her feel so warm. Rina couldn’t help the small little smile that adorned her lips as she nodded in agreement.
“Hi Oswald. My name is Rina. I’m…visiting. I’ve never been here. Are you visiting as well?” Rina made sure she kept her smile in place, but on the inside, she mentally deflated. This was her first visit to Twilight Town, so Rina tried to keep a low profile whenever she went somewhere new, but Oswald definitely had taken the spotlight. She had been having a rough time at her home in Radiant Garden (her fight with the darkness was only getting harder, and the cold winter they were having this year wasn’t helping her mood any) and she needed a momentary escape. The town that was always bathed in sunset seemed like a good place to improve her mood, and so far, it was working. That of course wasn’t something you told somebody on your first meeting, so she settled with visiting instead.
Rina tried to make her smile a little bigger. | [attr="class","white"] [attr="class","night"] [attr="class","burstmini"]@oswald

You'll be lucky too! Oswald liked this girl! She put a smile on his face without him even having to put a touch of effort into it. Now that was a great sign. Then again, a lot of the people he met in Twilight Town were swell! So he had no problems with it. But, hey, it was fine to get attached to new friends. So far he hadn’t regretted it. Of course, he was aware of how odd his name sounded to others. It had gotten a few chuckles out of the locals, but – hey – he insisted that he wasn’t joshin’. He could see the happiness brimming from the corner of his eyes. The locals on their street corners, enjoying presents and having a fantastic holiday. That was the goal of this little operation. Spread some cheer across the worlds and make things a little happier for everybody. Rina? Well, why hadn’t he seen her around here?! She stuck out from the crowd like a main character in a JRPG!
“Oooh, fellow visitor ,eh? Glad I could make passing through even more of a ball, doll! I’m from far away myself, this contraption..” He playfully tapped his strong leg against the trolley, letting it shake and automatically play it’s bell. “…is my mode of transport! Helps when you wanna get between REAL far places. You know, keep away from all the bad stuff that’s been happening? But, hey, I’m trying to be a little more proactive! Not the best fighter around buuut I know what people like and how to be pleasing.”
Oswald, with that, leaned back against the trolley and let a more quiet atmosphere settle, still wearing that silly old outfit and smiling as broadly as he could. “So, Rina – I’m no psychologist, that’s somethin’ my wife loves playing at, buuuut I don’t think you’re here on business! What’s got you this far away from home? Changes of scenery usually mean something’s makin’ the old drapes look drab.” It was just an assumption, of course. He loved making wild assumptions. Nine times out of ten it got results, the rest of the time he could laugh it off as being a part of his rabid curiousity.

[attr="class","burst"] [attr="class","whitenight"]❝ The smile that Rina had been holding for Oswald fell away completely. It was like she had been sucker punched by a fist of truth. Even though Oswald had a silly persona, he was scarily perceptive. He seemed to…not have seen through Rina per se…but he knew that there was more to her story than she had offered to tell. Rina looked down and fiddled with the string that tied up her unopened gift.
“Um, yeah. Something like that. The house is too cold, too empty. Shadows everywhere. I needed to get out of there, ya know. I was getting…bogged down.” Bogged down in the memories and the nightmares and everything that scared the living daylights out of Rina. Rina cleared her throat and looked back to Oswald, hoping that there wasn’t any fear in her eyes. She smiled another thin smile at him. “Anyway! I’m glad I came here. Otherwise I wouldn’t have met you! You were just what I needed!” | [attr="class","white"] [attr="class","night"] [attr="class","burstmini"]@oswald
