There are many worlds, but they share the same sky — one sky, one destiny.
Kairi remembered that when she had finished the letter and sent it out, the last line of her letter had jogged her memory, just by a bit. "Starts with an S," she had told Selphie and she recalled that he had eyes reminiscent of the sky, bright and brilliant. When she had jumped into the portal that Axel had opened at the time, Kairi didn't think of not saying goodbye to her friend, the same one who had been with her the entire year the boys had been away.
"I remember this place," is the first thing she says to Roxas upon landing in Traverse Town. Over the journey, the two of them had gotten closer. Even though Roxas was Sora's other half, there was a stark difference in their personalities. If Sora was like the rising sun, Roxas was more like the setting sun. Calm, quiet yet pleasant. In a way, it reminded of the dynamics between herself and Naminé but there seemed to be more similarities between herself and her other half. "I came here after Sora rescued me... this is where I met Yuffie and the others." TAGGED // @tapir @@dungeon NOTES // There ya go. Sorry for the delay.

ONE SKY, ONE DESTINY "Kairi!" Joy expelled from the energetic youth. It was Sora, primed at ready to greet his close friend the girl from his island. The boy's first instinct was to approach, running up to Kairi as quick as thundaga. His face was lit the light of the lanterns but he seemed to glow especially strong in the presence of the princess of light.
"What are you doing all the way out here? Aren't you training with Riku?" He asked, spoiling his own happiness of seeing her.
"But that's ok, you can train with me! There's plenty of heartless still in the world. I bet that you can handle your fair share by now!"
"Roxas!" Sora blurted, surprised to see the mere existence of his other half manifested there. He wasn't sure if he was hallucinating or if the nobody was actually there. Surprise didn't have a chance to become hesitation. Sora embraced the blond with a well deserved hug.
"Does this mean you're own person now?"

“When a world falls to Darkness Traverse Town take its survivors. Guess Selphie and the ex-Radiant Gardeners ended up here.” Roxas speculated in response to Kairi’s reminiscence, dimly recalling what a certain cryptic angel had half-explained in the Dreamworld. The eternal night of Traverse Town was softened by the hazy light of constantly lit street-lamps, illumining alleyways and cottage terraces just enough that bustling city life could continue. In a way Traverse Town was a mirror of his adopted home. Twilight Town was a quiet placid port city caught in the waning hours of evening. Traverse was a busy metropolis chock full of refugees from thousands of fallen worlds beneath nightfall. It wasn’t bad exactly. Roxas was enough of a traveler now to appreciated electricity and running water whoever he could find it, but it reminded him of… Then came Kairi’s name in a voice that Roxas had to double check wasn’t in his own head. Open-mouthed shock at the Sora being both corporeal and still in the Light left Roxas open to a hug-ambush. The embrace brought on an awkward cardboard rigidity from a young man whose violent two years of life hadn’t included much in the ‘hugging’ category. The unsolicited embrace brought on a broad mixture of feelings, too tightly wound to properly untangle. The urge to shove Sora away mingled with the need to beg forgiveness, followed by resentment and relief each in their turn. Roxas wasn’t sure how much Sora remembered of what might or have not happened, the literally heart-breaking interlude in the world of dreams. Honestly, feeling Sora now, very much alive and whole, Roxas reminded himself that his memory was far less reliable then his senses. This was real. They were both somehow real at once. Guess sometimes you just have to accept the miracle, even if something in your Heart knows theres a catch. For now, it was enough. “Workin’ on it,” Roxas murmured quietly, succumbing finally and doing his awkward best to return the pressure of Sora’s embrace. “Thanks...thanks for giving me that chance,” he said softly, locking eyes and briefly clasping shoulders with the other youth before parting. Dream or no, that didn't change the sense of indebtedness. Kairi @dungeon

"You're probably right. Unfortunately, I wasn't entirely awake for that," Kairi remarked, giggling just a tad bit at the last part. She had spent a good portion of time within Sora's heart — she couldn't remember much but there were some things she did vaguely remember since she was still aware of what was going on.
Speak of the devil, Kairi whipped her head around, coming face-to-face with Sora as he skid to a stop in front of both herself and Roxas. Frantically flailing her arm in the air, she called out to him, sheer excitement in her voice at reuniting with her best friend. Sora was literally a walking sunshine, his face glowing with happiness at the sight of her and she could have sworn he was bouncing in his footsteps as he made his way over.
"Really, Sora? A hug for Roxas and not for me?" she teased him in a playful manner. "Sheesh, I'm hurt."
Once they got over all the greetings and hugs, Kairi's joyous expression began to turn into something akin to seriousness, mixed with worry, having noticed that Sora was not with Riku at all; she had hoped the both of them had run into each other over the course of their journey. "He went off somewhere. Said he had something to do — dropped me off at Radiant Garden — and he'd come back and get me but," she paused for a moment to catch her breath; she was speaking too many words at a single time. "he hasn't returned yet and Roxas appeared so... here we are."
There was also the matter of Riku's clone she had seen but she decided that it wouldn't be a good idea to bring it up; Radiant Garden wasn't entirely safe for her, not anymore. No need for Sora to think that she was in any danger of some form; Kairi knew she still could handle herself. The exchange between Sora and Roxas had been brief but it was enough to let Kairi know that they weren't entirely aware of what was going on — to think she could get answers about how Naminé seemed to have separated from her.

ONE SKY, ONE DESTINY "Thank you for taking a chance." His energy was a boundless force, evermore after remembering what Roxas had done not too long ago. His mind was clearing up of the looming clouds and with clarity his refreshed heart soared higher with greater hope.
"A hug for you too, Kairi!" Sora said going from one person to the other. This was the girl who saved him, the one who brought him back from the void of darkness. She was in a sense, responsible for Roxas too. Crazy what a Princess of Light can do. Now having her own keyblade, maybe she'd have greater control of that power. The boy believed in her, always.
"Riku and Naminé?"
Now wondering about Naminé as well. The whereabouts of his friends was always something that stumped his brain. But who could track of that many people in the worlds there were? Certainly not the young man who was constantly at odds with the direction of his own adventure.
"Uh.. I think I saw them... but... I don't remember where. It was..." The boy thought he'd seen both Naminé and Riku but his brain was betraying him just after gifting him the truth of his heart.
"Well, it's non't here. I just go here."

Roxas looked away respectfully as Sora and Kairi embraced, backing up a little and turning to survey the gloom pierced by gaslight. He didn’t want to intrude on this moment between them. After interacting with Kairi and Sora purely secondhand, be it by rumor, surreal mental breaks, or just through experiencing the consequences of their actions and enemies, there was a hypnagogic quality to seeing them in the flesh. Yeah, technically he knew Sora better then almost anyone, and he’d been gotten used to Kairi’s reality over the course of their travels together. Yet, after looking out at the greater world through a mirror darkly for so long, sometimes realizing this was really happening took him back a bit. It kinna drove home how much of his own life was so utterly removed from ‘normal’ or even ‘real’ in the way most folks would understand it. He was happy for them, but had to admit to feeling the tiniest inner pinprick of pain. They’d known each other longer then he’d even existed. It was ... intimidating. It passed and his attention returned when Sora puzzled over where and when he’d seen Naminé and Riku. Roxas frowned as he watched Sora’s uncertainty, gaze becoming pensive as he turned something over in his head. “That does help,” he affirmed with a nod, intuiting that prodding for more specific times wouldn’t yield fruit. “We might still ask round a bit?” he said with a glance to Naminé for yay or nay. Roxas had gradually come the trust Kairi’s kinna eerie intuition on this sort of thing. “People who got here just recently might’ve seen something.”
Roxas looked back to his Other, “And why're you here Sora? Just passin’ through or got time to get a bite to eat?” The second question was partially to lighten the first one's nosiness, though he was legit ravenous. The boy folded his arms and regarded both his companions, spiked star neck-charm clinking softly with the shift in posture. “Cause’ I’m bushed after Corridoring all day.” Kairi @dungeon

She spread her arms out, welcoming the brunette into her arms as she felt his body collide with hers. It felt right, just like when she had held him once again after a year without knowing who he was or remembering his name but there was something familiar about it. It felt like home and even though he had been to many worlds, Sora was still an islander at heart, being a proper native of Destiny Islands. As for herself, she was a native of Radiant Garden but also, very much an islander at heart. No matter where she went, Destiny Islands would always be her home.
"Naminé's been gone for a while," Kairi explained, frowning. She had long gotten used to the empty space in her heart and the lack of a guiding voice in her head. To her, Naminé seemed to know a lot of things beyond what she could see. Kairi could only attribute it to the fact that she could control the memories within Sora's heart and thus, she could foresee the consequences that would follow, depending on which path things unfurl but Naminé herself wasn't a mind reader; she just went by what she knew about people.
Kairi let out a giggle when Roxas mentioned that he was tired from all the travelling. Being a Princess of Heart, it did not pose a problem to her but for Roxas, he needed the coat as a form of protection against the darkness. "C'mon, let's go and sit down, have a meal, take a chill pill. We all need it," she suggested, turning in the other direction to head towards a nearby café. The two of them would eventually follow; they probably needed time to catch up and she would grant them a moment first. TAGGED // @tapir @dungeon NOTES // There ya go.

ONE SKY, ONE DESTINY The boy felt his stomach release and unruly rumble at the mere mention of a meal. Embarrassed by the gurgling he nodded and followed behind Kairi with Roxas. Soon they'd get their fill on the mishmash cuisine offered by this meeting ground of wayward souls. This would be the first meal Sora would share with his other... an opportunity to discover what kind of things he liked.
"The food here is pretty good... but I don't think the desert can beat sea-salt ice cream from Radiant Garden." Sora said, setting down the only relevant thought he had for a conversation starter.
"But ice cream isn't uh the greatest for filling up." He admitted, guilty of having tried that on a few occasions with Donald and Goofy. Both were adamant about avoiding too many sweets but sometimes they could be swayed in the sugary ways if the day had been darkened by defeated.
"So, what's your favorite, Roxas?" He asked. It was honestly a hard question for Sora to answer... Sora knew deep down that he was putting his other on the spot even with that simple string of words. Roxas hadn't exactly had much time to be himself. So much of the other's life had been spent treated as a tool by so many people good and bad. Having asked such an innocent question seemed so wrong, like ignoring the fact that he'd been through so much trouble just because he was connected to Sora.
The same was true with Kairi. But... she didn't seem so terribly worried. Maybe she'd gotten Roxas to open up. That was certainly a talent of the princess, to get people to show their good side even in their darkest moments.
"If you can't answer dont worry. I don't think that I can choose a favorite because there's just too much out there to experience."

“Yeah,” Roxas affirmed with a small smirk as Sora admitted to binging on the sugary stuff. It definitely wasn’t surprising, something you might guess after being with Sora for a bit. Roxas was even pretty sure he’d technically already known that, in the weird subconscious way that defined that his para-existence. Yet, it was different actually hearing it somehow, known or not. Most of what he and Sora shared was innate, neither asked for nor willing giving. Heck, they could’ve have had this whole conversation instantly with a glance probably. But being told and asked things, however mundane, had a far more solid sense of meaning that Roxas couldn’t really explain. Guess the closest analogy was Lea being his friend, which obviously didn’t need to be spoken in order to be true, but him saying it out anyway was reassuring in a bone deep way. “Lea had to teach me that I couldn’t just eat one kind of food,” the Key of Destiny confided back, his own willingness to share the anecdote surprising him. “Otherwise I would’ve just stuffed my face with ice-cream twenty four seven.” Most of what’d went down in the Organization wasn’t exactly casual conversation material, but the ‘Zombie Days’ were pretty harmless. The boys meandered their unhurried way over to where Kairi was getting settled in the cafe, a simple affair of wood chairs and candlelit tables under a overhanging second-story. Sora’s followed question received a surprised blank look, that devolved into an awkward frown and shifting of the eyes as Roxas struggled against the easy answer, simply regurgitating his gut instinct on whatever Sora liked. The truth won out. “I don’t…” But Sora’s prescient mercy evinced palpable relief that washed over Roxas’ features like a cup of cold water poured down his face. “Yeah I’ve no idea,” he admitted. Yet instead of emptiness, something Lea had said more recently filled that hole instead, advice that finally clicked when looked at from a different angle. A ‘butterflies in the stomach’ feeling of gentle wonder brushed aside any sense of alienation. “But hey,” Roxas raised blonde eyebrows to his Other with a knowing nod, acknowledging the kindness before continuing. “This is finally my chance to find out right?”
He plopped down in a seat at the three-seater restaurant table before opening up the menu. There was a moment of pensive frowning as he scanned the it, obvious incomprehensible at the lines upon lines of dish titles quickly mounting. “Kay,” said Roxas finally, lowering the menu to look up at his companions sheepishly. “I might need your’re guys’ help picking out what to start with though….”

"It's a different experience eating within the city, Sora. Still, nothing can beat the food back at home," Kairi remarked. With Destiny Islands being a small community, Kairi would find herself helping out wherever she could, apart from being engaged in her studies. Even though she was a Princess of Heart, her duties as the mayor's daughter were more clear. She found joy in doing things on her own, like cooking freshly caught fish.
As they looked through the orders, Kairi took note of how the orders seemed to draw inspiration from other worlds. "Hey guys, take a look at this," she flashed a bunch of photos on the menu to the two of them. "They don't seem to have a specific theme. If anything, it feels like this place is inspired by... adventures, told by adventurers themselves."
There was a plethora of things, a wide variety, sorted accordingly to what sort of dish they were but it was evident that they did not have a theme of their own. Yet, the one thing they shared in common was that all these dishes definitely were from somewhere else. Back in Destiny Islands, Kairi remembered there was a little café not too far from school where they had sold a drink inspired by the crystalline waters of their sea — it glittered like gold and held the same blue essence their seas were rather known for.
Come to think of it, she hadn't checked the name of this place, having fluttered over to whatever was available. She hoped the other two boys had some spare Munny on them because she sure didn't.
Once the boys had decided on their orders, Kairi raised her hand in the air, flailing excitedly. "Hey," she called out. When one of their waiters came over with a notepad in hand, she gave him a grin. "We're ready to take our orders. Can I have one Princess Lagoon drink?"
