Chronos was mostly joking around around Stella, thinking she had remembered him and knew he was just being his usual stupid self. He would have never thought about the possibility of her turning on him. He had just put his weapon back together, when he heard the sound of a weapon being formed, the tip of her sword aimed at his face all of the sudden. Chronos was speechless, staring at the rapier with wide eyes, his tail stopping to move immediately. What.. what was she doing? She yelled at him, wanting answer right NOW, her boot coming down on his injured leg and pushing deep into his wound, blood now bubbling out of it as he yelped in pain, his eyes filled with confusion and... the hurting feeling of being betrayed in a way. He had tried to protect her and she would point her weapon at him? He was one of the warrior's chosen by light. He had faced many hardships on his adventures, but one thing he was always very pained by.... being turned on by people he liked at first. It hurt.. and even though he understood her confusion, it still burned a hole in his heart to see someone he knows point a sword at him. Yes, the memories with her were foggy, almost like a dream he had, but she also knew him. She knew his name, she fought by his side like they had in the fuzzy memories he could recall. She was confused, just like him. He gritted his teeth, trying to ignore the pain shooting up and down in his leg. “Confusion.. gives you the right to hurt others?”, he murmured, looking at her with his red eyes. “I.. I thought... we are friends...”, he would continue, his voice however more of a whisper now. “I don't recall.. urg.. much.. it feels more like a dream, but the moment I saw you I remembered your face and things we faced.. or at least it feels like it. I.. I can't.. answer your question.. the way you want it to. I am confused myself.”He couldn't move much with that blade so close to his neck, ready to stab him. “I'm.. sorry Stella..”Yes, he was sorry. He was sorry he couldn't help her. It felt like he had done a terrible mistake and now she was suffering because of it. Chronos knew he should be angry for her hurting him after this fight... but as usual, he couldn't bring himself to look at it, like it wasn't his fault. Behind the always smiling gunner, there was something hiding.. something that came with the burden of being a chosen one. Chronos's wound is hit once again and bleeds openly now

The blade of the queen remained as still as the icy glare that rested upon the pleading Mi’qote. Stella found herself hanging upon every word that Chronos would give her, trying her hardest to determine any trace of venom in them. Ready to strike at a moment’s notice. Though there was no such luck, what he spoke had sparked a sense of familiarity within her. A silent breath was let out, emotion slowly becoming cooled by a sense of reason. She wasn’t sure how, or why she knew his name, but Stella acknowledged that if she killed him, she would never find out the truth behind any of it. Focus wandering down to the wounded leg her boot rested on; a mental note made that she still couldn’t do anything about it. However there was someone that might be able to provide help.
That was when Chronos said he was sorry.
A moment of silence existed between them for what felt like an eternity.
Stella would finally relinquish her stance on the injured leg. The rapier would vanish in a flash of colors, when the young royal would seize the back of his shirt, and try her hardest to drag him to the steps before the Item Shop. ”No. I’m the one that should be sorry,” she muttered in reply, sitting down next to him with a frustrated sigh. ”Give me a moment, I’ll take you to get help.” With that she buried her face in her hands, pretending to hide the overwhelming shame that had suddenly overcome her. Stella didn’t know what she was truly even angry at. Maybe it was the stress of being stuck here for so long, having no true friend to be able to talk to, or the nostalgia for home that remained consistent on a daily basis. Whatever had come over her, it was clear that Chronos wasn’t the source of her anger, nor those shadowy creatures from before. It was plain enough to see now that he was only to blame for helping out.
”I…I’ve been stuck here- for how long, I don’t even remember. There’s no light in the days, and they all seem to run together.”
Stella would lower her hands, as she looked up to the sky.
”Home is out there, I know it. I just don’t remember where…like a lot of things apparently, since I woke up in this town.”

The Mi'qote felt like he was missing the usual confidence now that he had been face to face with such painful interactions. Betrayal was one of the feelings he hated most, right next to loneliness. Of course in Eorzea, he was never lonely. He always had his friends in the ranks of the adventurers, Cid and his gang and of course some of the Primal-hunters. But here outside of Eorzea, all he really had was his memories of the times at home and of course the foggy memories of the girl he had met today. He didn't care that most of it seemed more like a dream.. he was just happy to see a face he knew from somewhere! That it would turn so ugly, he could have never seen coming. Stella seemed torn before she finally moved the sword away from his neck again and put the boot away from his injury. Chronos took a deep breath and sighed in painful relive when the pressure was finally gone, his hand wandering down to press on the wound to stop the flow somehow. He couldn't be angry at Stella for this action, however. Never would he lift his weapon at someone he liked. She grabbed him and started dragging him to the stairs, his hands lifting him up so he could lean against the stone-rail of the stairs, his leg stretched out in front of him, his hand pressing on it again for a moment. Stella apologized and Chronos expression soften slightly as he watched her trying o sort things out in her mind. She seemed troubled and it made sense, hearing how she seemed so lost right now. He took a deep breath before he moved his hand inside his pocket to drag out a piece of clean cloth that he ripped and started to bandage his leg with to at least stop the bleeding a little and cover the wound. When he was done, he leaned back against the wall once more with a sigh, his red eyes looking at her with what seemed to be worry. “It's.. alright, girl. I am also suffering from foggy memories... I remember why I am here, so far away from home, but how I got here.. I have no idea as well.”His tail moved slightly, ears still folded back on his head. “If you can't leave.. I can take you with me.”, he suddenly said, looking up into the sky. “I will help you of course. I don't remember how we met and all, but I do remember we really kicked ass together and had some good times somewhere. I always help my friends out.. even if I don't remember much about them.”

With a heart that grew heavier than the burden she carried upon her shoulders, Stella would listen carefully to Chronos when he would finally speak. She wasn’t sure whether or not she deserved his forgiveness after what had just happened. The young queen looked to inside herself, trying to pinpoint the true source of her anger once more. The pain and loss of a chance to return to Moira and Vir after that last fight, the inability to focus on a means to leave this temporary haven, would eat away at her as it always did. She longed for release from this cycle, these daily chores that in truth, meant next to nothing to the young royal. The old man’s charity was, by her accounts, paid off with all the assistance she had given in just over three weeks of time, if it were not longer. Time had a nasty habit of slipping through her fingers as of late. Perhaps she had been gone from Libra for longer than she truly knew. All that remained certain despite this, was that her home needed her return, lest the likes of those dark, hunger driven creatures find their way to Elysium and her loved ones as well.
This limbo of a world she had come to accept, was slowly turning into another curse upon her heart.
Nostalgia birthed the call home.
The most disturbing truth to all of this, was that Stella knew she had been away from home for well beyond a simple three weeks. The injured gunner sitting next to her was more than enough proof of this. She held no memories of him from her childhood. In fact there wasn’t even a race on Libra to which Chronos bore any similarity. Everything about him was so foreign to everything she knew, and yet she couldn’t shake the air of familiarity that surrounded him either. Wherever and whatever they had endured together, Stella was certain that it had bound them to each other in some form. If what he spoke was really true, they were indeed friends, and something had happened to bring on this unnerving sense of amnesia. How was it neither of them recalled the actual events after all?
Stella suspected something dark was at play here.
The immediate priority however, was finding a more proper way to tend to the Mi’qote’s injured leg. She found the offer Chronos made to be far too generous, even after she had so cruelly stepped on his wound, and threatened his life. Perhaps it was simply just whom he was, a kind and benevolent soul; the very kind of heart she wished to lead for her people back home. She glanced from those red eyes down to the makeshift tourniquet, as another surge of the Light within could be felt. Stella felt she didn’t deserve the offer from Chronos after what she had done. She felt that opportunity should have been cast aside, as the trust between them should have been when she drew her sword. How he could still bring himself to make such a suggestion, the wayward queen knew not. Though she recognized the importance of such an opportunity. It was her chance, perhaps her only one, to be able to uncover the mystery behind these lost memories, and her missing powers.
Perhaps the way back home waited somewhere on this path.
A sigh was forced when Chronos finished. ”Sorry that I have to do this again-“ she muttered, before putting a hand on his shoulder. Another kinetic burst, a flare of eldritch rainbow flame, and the pair would suddenly find themselves within the front dining room of Seito’s bistro once more. Stella would make a gasp, serenaded by a crash of porcelain across the room as the old man dropped a tray of cups out of surprised shock. Her hands shot up to cover her mouth, as the elder roared with anger over his own clumsiness, and the young royal’s inability to use a damn door.
”Blast it all girl! First the Laruzo boy, now a bleeding customer!? My heart cant take more of these surprises!”
”Look, I’m sorry you broke your cups, but my friend here needs help I can’t give him. Be a dear, and give him a hand?”
The old man would narrow his eyes, and raise a brow as he looked on Chronos conspicuously.
”I’m no veterinarian, sweetheart.”
”Seito!” yelled Stella with a stomp as her temper flared. The elder simply grunted, then chuckled.
”Fine. I’ll retrieve my satchel.” The old man would then head to the back room at the end of the bar, and vanish behind a cracked door. Stella would fume and glare at him until he disappeared from sight, before she would pinch the bridge of her nose out of frustration. Stubborn old bastard she mused in silence. She couldn’t understand why he was getting so offended over a bunch of broken cups. It wasn’t as though any set out for customers held any significance to him. He was the more medically inclined here, it was his responsibility, in her eyes, to do the right thing and lend his knowledge to the aid of Chronos. Stella took a few steps away, before turning to look at the wounded mechanist with an air of sympathy.

Chronos was very relieved that their little misunderstanding had finally been solved. Stella seemed very confused and also sad about everything and Chronos knew she was truly sorry about the way she acted and how she had hurt him in her fit of rage. The Mi'qote would of course try to comfort her, but it seemed it wasn't his time now. Stella was deep in thought for some time, before she offered him aid and apologized before a flash of light blinded him and both of them found themselves in the Bistro again he had met her in. The crash of porcelain made him jump slightly, ears folding back from the loud noise. Poor old bastard, getting a heart attack from them showing up out of nowhere. He didn't know if he should feel sorry for Saito or sorry for Stella, for both to have to deal with each other for some time now, how it seemed. At least Stella was very persistent about him getting help, so the old shop owner had no choice but to get some things to help him with his injury. His eyes returned to look at Stella, shortly after he had finally been able to sit down on a chair, sighing deeply for a moment, now that he was more comfortable. His ears moved up again, tail held close to his body. Stella had asked him if he wanted something and Chronos just offered her a small smile. “Coffee... with a lot of milk sounds awesome.”, he said, leaning back into the chair more, taking his leg to prop it up on it for now. “And maybe a bite to eat?”Yeah, wound aside, he didn't have breakfast and a hungry Mi'qote is a angry Mi'qote. It wouldn't take many more hours before his mood would go down drastically and he really didn't want Stella to experience THAT. “Don't worry, I can pay for it, before the old man completely flips his lit.”

The girl would regard the injured traveler’s answer with a nod and a soft smile. Stella turned from Chronos, making haste around the end of the counter to begin working on the guest’s accommodations. She seized a small plate off the shelf, inspected it to make sure it was clean, and began piling an assortment of scones upon it. Like a decorated, multi-flavored pyramid of sweetened treats, she gave it her approval before tending to the coffee. She found her eyes drifting across the bar to watch Chronos. Stella sat down the coffee pot as she thought more about him, and the curious predicament that surrounded them both. How she wished she could recall what she couldn’t remember. Only a name, nothing more. She wanted to ask how much he knew, yet Stella had a feeling she had heard all Chronos could tell her. The recollection of his face before the end of her rapier dashed through her thoughts. The pained apology for something he didn’t do, or could remember. She only smiled weakly as she added the milk, trying to mask the overwhelming shame she felt growing within.
Say you don’t hate me for nothing… Hate me for falling out of reach- Hate me for something…
She begged it of him, that there was an ounce of contempt for her within his heart somewhere. For all the pain and confusion she had caused him since he had first greeted her; Stella felt she deserved some kind of sin in penance for her cruelty. Actions made of anger, confusion, and clouded judgement, all birthed from the fog shrouding the clarity of all that continued to surround her lapse of memory.
How, how could I forget about you? Whoever you are?
Stella frowned as she put down the milk, stirred the coffee, and brought it alongside the scones to the table Chronos sat at. As she sat down opposite the table, resting her chin on the back of her chair, Seito would reemerge with a satchel of medical supplies- as though on cue. ”Now- try not to scream.” The tone of the old man was less than reassuring to the woman, as he wasted no time pouring disinfectant over Chronos’ wound. Humming a rather disturbing tune to himself, the impromptu medic would go to work about mending the injury, before it was wrapped after he was finished. Sealing up his satchel, Seito would the steal a scone from the pyramid on the plate, then stand. ”Didn’t figure they ate scones Stella-“ chuckled the old man as he once more disappeared to the other room.
The brunette rolled her eyes in response.
A heavy sigh soon followed as the young queen examined the superb bandage job on the mechanist’s leg. She hoped it would heal well enough, the guilt over her earlier actions catching up to her. She could feel the ship inside her sinking. Deeper and deeper. It was going under. She could not swim under these conditions. Drowning, quicker and quicker, with every tick of the clock on the wall. She needed to put it out of her mind, lest she risk this guilt consuming her day, her conscience. Lest she risk it to pull her under. Stella felt herself swallow, before finding the courage to speak again.
”Chronos,” she said simply, the silence between them broken. Eyes darted up from the wound to the rubies in the gunner’s head, curiosity masked in concern over Stella’s face. What should she ask? She considered the number of angles at which she could approach him. She remained as interested in where he came from, as where he was headed. Though when considered, there was a chance his recollection of the past may very well be shrouded by that same fog that barred her own path. Time would tell. In time, all will return to me- return to you.
So it was she would look to the future, and ask Chronos the aim of his path.
”Where did you say you were going?” Chronos Ti'era

The cat-hybrid watched her, his joke seeming to have done little to ease her worries and the bad feelings she experienced right now after what had happened between them. His ears folded back again, tail moving slightly on the chair he was sitting on, before his gaze traveled to the wooden table in front of him, a soft frown forming on his face. This is not what he had in mind when he entered this world. Not at all. He sat there silently, trying to relax into the chair as he waited for Stella and the Shopkeeper to return to his side. Stella brought him his order shortly after, his eyes lightening up when he saw the tower of sweets, a smile spreading on his face. “Thank you, Stella.”And right after her, Seito returned with the things he needed to tend to his wounds, which was... not so nice, considering how painful this could get. He let the old man do his thing, only punching the table a few times when he tended to his wound, before he bandaged it, Chronos now really able to relax with the wound taken care off, his body slipping deeper into the chair, his hand absently taking one of the scones and biting into it. “A-also T-thank you... Eh, Mister.”, he murmured, his attention now turning to the young woman next to him again, his head tilting to the side slightly when she asked him about what he wanted to do. “He kind of reminds me of my dad... Oh, eh, traveling the stars. Looking for adventure and people I can help. That is all I do these days.” His hand took the cup, blowing some of the hot surface a little colder before he would take a nip from his coffee, ears folding up again slightly.

The young woman sat silent, hanging on every word that Chronos would choose to give her. She found his answer rather peculiar, yet noble to the core. There was no indication to any particular destination, simply a thirst for adventure and a desire to aid those in need. It was an admirable answer, an admirable cause in these apparent dark times. Rumors among the townsfolk spoke of war, yet she had not been one to pay these much mind. Perhaps it would have paid in the long run to have given them more thought and attention. Though what had she cared- other than to repay the debt she no longer owed? Perhaps these rumors were what uprooted Chronos from his home to search the stars, for whatever that was, Stella had no idea. She could only speculate as she observed the slow return of the Miqo’te’s cheerful disposition by the scone.
Stella remained silent after he spoke up, her focus having drifted to the floor. There was no telling where he was going. This fact unsettled a decision pending in the back of her mind, it put her at unease. Though logic would try to reach her through these bars of hesitance, telling her to speak her mind, to break the chains this purgatory had set upon her. Cast away these needless fears child, shed away these restraints. Inside she was wide awake now, she wasn’t afraid to be lifted up, and taken away. In her heart Stella knew that this was the right course of action, and yet still she said nothing.
A moment of eternity in this silence, if ever there was one. Such beautiful and tragic catharsis. To have never know that she could be this lonely, so lonely. Perhaps she was running out of feelings to fight this, only so that she could pretend to feel lonely, so lonely. To never wake from this proverbial coma, a shame, nothing more. Days never waking. Nights never resting. Unhinged madness within the stillness wrought chaos in this quiet. Suffering to be endured, nevermore.
”My powers are not behaving the way they should be. I believe my lack of memory-“ A frustrated sigh followed. Stella shook her head before starting again. ”I should have recalled everything, and yet here I find myself- bewildered, and surprised.” Stella examined the palm of her hand, exchanging a look of concern with Chronos as she met his gaze again, fingers coiling into a fist as it was lowered. ”It makes me wonder- it makes me wonder if it’s the same for you. It makes me think, if I were to go with you…I could find an answer to these questions.” More silence to chase her words, paired with a look that gave her features a fragile nature, as though the very sound of impending words could shatter them. After all, despite that he had already informed her that she was welcomed to, Stella needed confirmation in the release from this confinement that Chronos could provide.
”I think that I-“
Stella cut herself off when the impossible happened. Her phone that had been placed absentmindedly on the table began to vibrate, as a text message was received, causing it to briefly dance across the surface. She went silent, the breath in her chest tightening with an unexpected relentlessness. By all accounts, she knew that it was beyond feasible for her to catch any sort of signal, here of all places. There was no way a signal tower existed on this world, that any existed outside of Libra for that matter. Though as her amber eyes fell upon the screen, she felt the world stop around her as she gazed upon an unfamiliar number, and a pair of words.

Chronos watched her, sipping his coffee carefully as he took on everything she did and what she said. He almost spit out his coffee when he heard what she seemed to suggest to him, hand wandering up to his mouth to cover it in time, gulping down the coffee. “Wait.. are you telling me you want to come with me?!”One could almost see stars sparkling in the others eyes. He doesn't remember much from what they had been through together, but the thought of traveling with someone through the stars and fight together sounded like his kind of adventure!! Flying around alone can get rather boring sometimes. This would be the icing on the cake! Oh. And of course it was a serious matter with their memory-problems, but HELL YEAH! A woman on bord of his ship sounded delightful. “Hey, of course I will take you with me! But don't pull my tail again or step on my injuries when we are- huh?” He stopped his rant when he saw how she looked on her phone, his ears twitching slightly, head moving to take a look on the screen. “What is it? What is going on?”He saw her change of expression and already knew something wasn't right. Did she get bad news on that device of hers? “Don't leave me hanging here, girl.”

There was an unnerving sensation that gripped Stella. A primordial inertia that picked up on the impending great change that would be undertaken. Born on a desire to return home. An overwhelming euphoria of anticipation, excitement, and dread of the unknown she would inevitably be casting herself into. Amber eyes skimmed over and over the two words on the screen. Muscles within the hands remained tight, as fingers remained coiled around the edge of the cellular device. Every time she went over these words, these two simple words, the dread of that abyssal unknown future grew tenfold. Even as much as she tried to hide it, her performance proved fallible when Chronos interjected with an inquiry behind the demonstrated behavior. Her focus raised from the digital screen to find the proof of this staring back at the young royal.
”Sorry. Just an alarm, reminding me about the oven-“ she lied with a sheepish smile, and a thumb to the kitchen over her shoulder. ”Seems Seito already took care of it. Um, yes by the way.” She tucked the phone into her jacket pocket, using conversation to mask the attention it had brought on itself. There was little need to worry Chronos over something neither of them knew a thing about. Concerns ultimately needless in the immediate light. ”The answer to your question, it’s yes-“ she added with a chuckle. ”If I go with you on this pilgrimage of benevolent intent- whatever you’d call it, then maybe we’ll find an answer behind our mutual acquaintanceship. Per your request, I’ll also do my best to avoid bringing you further harm.”
The brunette would then rise from her chair, offering the mechanist a nod of assurance in her given word. ”For now however, there’s a cot in Seito’s office just inside that door. Rest up, and I’ll meet you out here in a few hours. Your call.” She would turn from him, and take the flight up to her room upstairs. After shutting the door behind her, Stella crossed the room to sit at the desk, retrieving her phone to open the mystery text again.
Who are you?
The girl’s eyes narrowed, before she sighed, casting a weary expression to the door. Nothing made sense in this world, that much she had grown certain of during what she hoped would be her final day here. A chance to return home to Cal, to Moira and Vir, to her soft, oversized bed, was just out of reach beyond her fingertips. She had made her decision to leave this world behind, to offer her sword to Chronos’ aid in his pursuit of adventure. Stella would leave grumpy old Seito and his coffee shop behind, and never look back. It wasn’t to say she was never grateful for the help he had given. The time had come to cast away the ties that moored her to this temporal harbor, to set sail among the sea that separated her from home.
Thinking back to the time she had spent here, Stella felt it was only appropriate she bid her farewells to Seito. There was a good chance she would never see him again after this. It was only fair she pay the grumpy elder a respectful parting and thanks for all he had done. Rising from the desk, Stella left the shelter of the quiet room, and made her way down the hall to the crossroads at the stairs. A glimpse to the study, and a keen ear put to the descending flight proved to her that he was to be found in neither. The sudden flicker of a lamp being turned on in the doorway upstairs would catch her attention. She rarely ascended to the third level where he slept, finding the old spiral stairs less than sturdy for her own liking. The hermit had retreated to his hole for the morning though, and he was sure to not emerge until later that evening. Stella sighed at this, as she ascended the rickety steel steps, finding it a good chance Chronos would seek to depart when he deemed it ready. He probably wouldn’t mind to wait for Stella to bid her goodbyes to Seito, but the young royal suspected he wouldn’t be content to wait for Seito to finish his afternoon nap either.
