[attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] It was a strange feeling to be wandering through space through the darkness. Ravus followed Braig's orders and kept up with him, the exit of the strange realm they were in very close. Without hesitation, he jumped through, his body finally leaving the darkness for his armored boot's to land on stoned ground again. Immediately, he looked around to make sure that the other had truly brought him to the place he wanted to go... and what Ravus saw made his eyes widen. He... he was home? The portal had brought him not just to Eos but the place of his birth. He was standing close to cliff with some flowers and grass, his eyes glued on the structure not far away. The bridges and white stone his home was build off... it was right in front of his eyes. The morning sun illuminated the buildings, but he could see how worn they were... this didn't look like a week after the fire or two. This looked like.. years... years of this place being abounded by humanity. Seeing that the sun was able to hold away the darkness.... did this mean that Noctis had done it? Had the world been saved? So many questions flooded his mind as he continued to stare at what was left of his home. Maybe no one had tried to rebuild it, because the house of Fleuret has been destroyed completely? He and his sister had died so the people must think their bloodline is no more. Why would they stay in their Kingdom? It made sense to him. Seeing it so lost and forgotten hurt him deeply... Braig had done what he had asked for.. now it was his turn to do his duty, even though the lump in his throat was making it hard for him to speak. “This.. is where I was born.”, he would start, gathering the words he could right now. “It was once a bright Kingdom with a bloodline that went deep into history. Look at it now... just ruins...”It felt like this was his fault. He had been the reason for the Empire to attack Tenebrea and burn it down. And knowing this and seeing it again in such a state... It really burned in his heart. The barking of a dog caught his attention however, his head turning to the side to see a black dog coming his way. A dog he knew very well... “Umbra?”, he said with a certain amount of surprise, his body kneeling down immediately for the dog to come over and greet him with a few licks. Had he.. known he would come? “What.. are you doing here?”

Braig cautiously stepped out of the portal before the swirling mass of darkness snapped shut behind him. They had passed through the realm of darkness unharmed, but Braig couldn't shake the sensation that the shard within his heart had almost resonated with the unending darkness. Despite his unspoken concern, the feeling had left the moment they entered this new world, seemingly chased away by the bright sunlight, leaving Braig feeling the same as ever.
'I really need to find a way to get rid of that thing,' Braig thought, musing over the foreign shard, before running a gloved hand through his inky dark hair. A few lone strands of silver caught the light as his hand combed through, before disappearing back into the sea of black.
"So this is the place... Well, tiger, how does it feel to be home?" Braig stepped forward, pocketing the handful of coins, and patted the royal's shoulder in support as he passed by. Twisting his head to gaze over the ruins, the one-eyed sniper silently took in the view. It didn't look that bad, he had definitely seen worse during his years in the Organization. Beyond repair, but still livable if you liked camping.
A barking dog snapped him out of his assessment. The Freeshooter turned to face the dog, his head tilted in mild confusion, and crouched down. It had been ages since he last saw a dog; they hadn't been extremely common back home in the Radiant Garden. He cautiously stretched out one arm to pet the animal, but it dodged his hand. Braig wasn't terribly surprised, animals never seemed to like him.
"This your dog?" Braig asked as the dog walked past him, completely ignoring the sniper in favor of the royal.

The way the world was working currently was confusing for him. First he was in one place and then darkness would surround him and he would end up unconscious in another. Most of the time he woke up in unfamiliar place, but this time as blue eyes opened the view he saw started off unfamiliar as usual. However, as he got to his feet and his senses cleared from the fog he found himself in a place he hadn’t been to in a long time. Not sense he was a child. This was...Tenebrae, wasn’t it? But if that was so, then that meant that he was back home? But how? His mind would whirl with questions trying to make sense of this disoriented trip he had been having since he came back to the world of the living; however, before he could dig too deeply into his thoughts a bark would distract him and he would look up seeing a familiar black dog there. “Umbra?” he’d whisper not sure if his eyes were deceiving him or not as he took a few steps towards the dog who promptly turned and ran off. “W-Wait!” he would call to the dog before instinctively moving to following the dog. He’d follow the dog along the path coming to a stop at the edge of the tree line as the dog continued forward. From his position, he saw a strange black hole open and from it stepped… Ravus?
Noctis eyes would go slightly wider as he saw this. This couldn’t be real, right? Home, Umbra, and Ravus all in one day? This had to be a dream, right? Wrong. The man that came out after the royal was proof enough this was real. Staying hidden for a while longer, he’d watch the interaction of the men and the dog finally deciding to come out of hiding and cautiously approach the group when he saw no strife occurring. His steps and posture were unafraid despite what he felt inside. As he approached, Umbra would bark seemingly in response to Ravus question before moving from the two men and approaching Noctis. Unlike the other two, he did not pet the dog just yet as the creature sat by him and looked at the other two like it was observing the meeting in its own way. There was a tense silence for a few moments before Noctis spoke. “It has been a long time Ravus. I trust well and your friend too?” He would glance over at the eye-patched man that clearly did not belong in this world. The clothing and something about him just felt off, but even so the King would remain calm before the former foe and stranger. @braig Ravus Nox Fleuret

[attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] The royal watched as Umbra completely ignored Braig and seemed to enjoy the patting Ravus gave him, the dog wagging it's tail, happy to see one of his former owners here today. He looked up at Braig again to answer his questions, his body rising back up to his full height. “It feels.. strange to see it in this condition. But seeing that the world still exists and the sun rises at the horizon, everything seemed to have turned out well.”
Ravus sighed shortly after, his eyes turning back to the castle in the distance. “Umbra is something like a guardian of the family. He belongs to my sister and has always done a good service to us... especially her.”, he would answer the question about the dog next, only to see that Umbra would bark all of the sudden and run off somewhere. The royal's gaze followed the dog, only to see someone approaching he would have not ever expected to see here today or ever again. Two-colored eyes would widen at the sight of the young man he had once hated and that had slain him once as an illusion and once again to free him from the curse back than. “K-king Noctis...”, he would whisper, uncertain of what to say or think for a moment. Was this an illusion? An other trick? He took a step back, his hand wandering to his sword, but not drawing it. What if this was a trick from Ardyn? What if all of this was just an illusion created by the jester? Ravus had become paranoid after having been slain by him in the form of Noctis. Ravus eyes tried to pierce through those of the man in front of him, trying to see through him and uncover if this was a mask or not... but he didn't see anything in the others eyes, except slight confusion. Slowly, Ravus would move his hand away from his sword again. Placing a hand on his chest now, he would bow down in front of the man he had truly identified as the real Noctis now. “My King, I apologize... Ardyn's trickery has made me feel uncertain about the reality for a moment, but you are here... I.. had not expected to see you ever again.”, he was finally able to speak out, his eyes moving over to Braig next to him, giving him a little glare. “Bow down. You are standing in front of the King of Kings.”

Braig watched in astonishment as another figure approached him. This land had looked empty and desolate, yet here was another person. He watched them as they approached, questioning whether or not his arrowguns would be needed, but instead decided to watch Ravus for guidance. After all, he was a stranger to this world, and to come in guns blazing would be a great way to end up a renegade here as well. He stood, arms crossed defensively as the king approached.
Ravus' astonishment had caught him off guard. For the royal to be rendered so astonished, this person must be really important in this world. Sure enough, his suspicions were confirmed: this man was the King of this world. Clumsily and unnaccustomed to yielding before anyone, Braig awkwardly bowed and straightened back up. He suddenly felt very self-conscious, aware of just how out of place his old guard's uniform must look compared to the ornate raiments of the two nobles. He backed up a few steps, giving the other two men space as they discussed matters which Braig had no knowledge of.
The thought crossed his mind that this world would be likely be of great interest to Xehanort, but for now, he'd just hold his tongue and try to stay out of trouble. He wasn't exactly eager to return to the old coot in the first place, despite his affiliation with the Seekers. The longer he could stay out here, the more time he had to try and figure out a way to free himself from the shard.

This situation was quite strange to say the least. While Noctis did not hear the whole conversation the pair was having, he found himself less and less curious about that and more curious as to why and how Ravus was before him now. He was dead right? Surely he hadn’t misjudged that back then....right? And what of this man with the eye-patch? Where had he come from? And why was he here? The thoughts would flood Noctis’s mind keeping the King quiet until he decided to interact with the pair to solidify for a fact this was no trick of the mind. When the other reacted, he did not flinch as he kept his back straight and head held high much like his father as he met the other’s gaze with an even stare of his own. Even so, there was a softness hidden within those steel blue eyes that was perhaps trying to at least assure the other he was nothing to be afraid of even if the situation was quite out there and hard enough to swallow. It took some time, but slowly the other got the message and in turn relaxed before doing something Noctis never dreamed the man before him would do --address him as King and actually bow. The move was strange, but at the same time brought a small bit a relief to the young man’s heart. Perhaps this was a sign that things would go better this time around between them. He suppose he would have to see. In response to the action and even the awkward bow from the outsider, Noctis would mimic Ravus’s hand gesture as he gave a nod of respect to the other and also in a quiet way giving both of them permission to rise again. ...though the one with the eyepatch had already done that seeming to want to remove himself from the ring for now. Hmph. Anyway.... “The situation is indeed strange for I did not think I would be seeing you either, Ravus. And from your words there are others that should not be roaming still about. Ardyn...You’ve met him again?” The King would ask of Ravus not exactly liking the idea of that guy walking around again. Not after the Hell he had been through because of said “man” walking among the living. Regardless of how the idea made him feel, Noctis did not let the emotion get to him as he simply waited for an answer before in time looking over to the outsider. His eyes would narrow at the salt and pepper hair gent as he analyzed him not able to tell if he was a threat or not. “Who are you?” he would ask in a calm tone that wasn’t hostile, but wasn’t exactly friendly either. He didn’t want to start fights for no reasons, but odd strangers on his turf would not be warmly welcomed so easily. There was just too many consequences that came along with that. [attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] Ravus straightened himself again when Noctis acknowledged his respect to him. This man had once been his greatest enemy and now they were hear, the world saved and the prophecy fulfilled. The time of suffering was over, or so it seemed at least. Yes, it was so strange to stand here in front of the man he had tried to kill and who had set him free of the curse once. It made the realization that crawled into his head even more painful... This world was in peace but he would have to continue to fight the old war of light and darkness. All he wanted to know was that his home was save and with Noctis being here, his dreams had come true. The mention of the jester made the eyes of the ex-commander darken as emotions seemed to cloud his mind for a moment. Ardyn... this beast.... Yes, who told them that the jester had not survived like him? What if he could still be out there even after all the sacrificed that have been made to destroy him? The royal shook his head. “If you fulfilled the prophecy, than the demon has been banished for all eternity. I have not met him and I don't want to ever see his face again. He has no place in our world.”, he royal growled slightly. His eyes moved back to Braig who seemed uncomfortable with the situation he had stumbled into and Ravus didn't blame him for it. He was in an unknown world, meeting a king he has never heard off and Noctis seemed suspicious about him, which he completely understood. Braig had done his part of their deal and Ravus would do as they had agreed on. The royal moved up his arm, the prosthetic serving as some kind of shield from the Kings possible distrust. “This man's name is Braig. He has brought me here.”, the royal would start speaking, his arm now slowly lowering itself again. “I offered him sanctuary in my home for guiding me back to the world so I can see for myself if it is free of evil. You have... you have truly been chosen... seeing you stand here today in the light of dawn.”His eyes traveled over the surroundings for a moment, a sigh escaping his lips. He wouldn't be able to stay here for long, but there was something he wanted to tell Noctis. If Maria was still alive or any other servant of their house, he could tell them to take care of Braig for now and give him a place to stay and hide until he was ready to return to his own star. “Do not fear, Noctis. I won't be bothering you with my presence for long. All I want is for this man to be brought to a save place.”His head turned back to Braig again. "You have done the part of your deal. Now it is I that shall bring you the peace you desire."

Braig looked back at the prince with a look of mild confusion. The look of annoyance the other had flashed him had been enough for the sniper to know that he had done something wrong, though he had not the faintest idea what exactly he had done wrong. Strange worlds always had strange customs, though normally the gunner wasn't expected to abide by them. The situation was different now, and perhaps for the first time in the sniper's life, he was trying to abide by good etiquette. Yet, the measured way they spoke, as elegant and formal as the decorated uniforms they wore... It was clear that the sniper didn't belong here.
Braig was, to a degree, thankful that Ravus had taken the initiative to introduce him to the royal. He nods in approval as the other speaks, though very little of the coversation made sense to him. He had a feeling that the 'light' and 'dark' they talked about wasn't the same force as the one he was familiar with... And who was this Ardyn guy anyway?
"Thanks, Ravus... If you need me for something, just ask." He adds cooly in response to the other with a respectful dip of his head. The renegade sniper didn't have much to give, but his skills were rare and his powers were useful in the right circumstances. Braig was no fool, he knew that almost every royal family had certain... problems... that needed to be 'taken care of', and he was no stranger to dirty work. It seemed a small price to pay for the chance to rest and pull himself together again.

"That is is good to hear." Noctis would sigh in relief he closed his eyes and nodded at the news that Ardyn was not walking about causing chaos once more. It did his Heart well to hear that and took one less weight off his chest. Reopening his eyes, he would continue to listen, steely blue eyes going back to the stranger as Ravus introduced the man to him. "Braig. I'll remember that one," the King would say still not trusting the guy not due to any wrong he had done, but rather just because he was something new he was not yet used to. Either way, he would not attack the man, even less so due to the deal he had with Ravus. Instead he would take small interest in the other as he narrowed his eyes slightly studying him. "Guided you here? How?" he would ask this time directing the last question to the other as he nodded his chin at him. It appeared that if the other thought he could get out of talking he was wrong. Besides, perhaps the other's answer could tell him a bit more about this stranger. Whether he got an answer or not though, his eyes would eventually turn back to Ravus as he furrowed his eyebrows. "Hm? Are you planning to go to somewhere?" he would question wondering what the other meant by not bothering him with his presence for long. It was kind of odd. Despite the things that had happened between them some part of Noctis wanted to at least try and talk more with the royal who was suppose to be part of his family now. An odd desire, but one he kept hidden well as his features remained calm and collected. Ravus Nox Fleuret @braig |
