How'd you find us?:
Father: Old treasure hunter
Locke loves adventure since young. Like his father, he's a treasure hunter. He finds great enjoyment to search for treasures and collects various maps to find other adventures and treasures. Napping in fields is another thing he loves to do while he hates to say goodbyes, not wanting to loose his friends. Since the death of his girlfriend, Rachel, he vowed to protect any woman. During his travels with the Returners, Celes reminded him of Rachel and he started to develop feelings for her as well.
Rachel's amnesia and death were things he always felt guilty for, that it was his fault that these things happened and, thus, he had searched for a way to revive her. Learning of the legendary Esper, Phoenix, he tried to find this Esper and bring back Rachel to right his wrongs. After having revived Rachel temporarily, he was able to overcome his guilt after hearing Rachel's words.
He is a caring person, who doesn't like to see his friends hurt. When it comes to adventure, he's a very brave person to take on many challenges. Locke enjoys jokes as well, making some about Edgar's nature throughout their travels. After the defeat of Kefka, it has been shown that he's not planning to let go of Celes and went to save her.
Born to a treasure hunter, Locke traveled with his father around the world. When he died, the boy lived in Kohlingen where they treated him like a common thief. As the only one who didn't treated him as one, Rachel kept Locke company and they fell in love. Her father didn't like this and detested Locke. In an attempt to prove himself in the father's eyes, Locke explored a cave with Rachel.
Here Locke was saved by Rachel when a bridge crumbled and broke, rushing to save him, she fell and almost died. After rescuing her and bringing her home, she was found to have gotten amnesia. As Locke was blamed for this, Rachel's father threw him out and Rachel no longer considered her relationship with Locke due to having lost those memories. Having the entire village turned against him, Locke left it behind and felt guilty for his role in Rachel's loss of memory. This caused him to try and protect all women he came across.
During his travels away from Kohlingen, Locke became part of the Returners when the empire started taking over the land. As part of the resistance, Locke made more powerful friends and gained a good friend in Edgar, whom he enjoyed to visit. During the time the empire was taken over the land, it also attacked Kohlingen and Rachel died in the attack. Having heard of the attack, Locke rushed back to the village and took Rachel's body.
Taking her body to a herbologist in Kohlingen, Locke preserved her in the hopes to find a way to bring her back to life as his feelings of guilt continued to haunt him. As he continued his role with the Returners, he was called in by Arvis to assist in Narshe. There he met Terra whom he was first reluctant to aid due to her involvement with the empire, but due to his guilt and Terra's state, he agreed and rescued her with the help of the Ten Moogles.
Due to Terra not remembering her past, Locke promised to protect her and brought her with him to Figaro Castle to meet King Edgar Roni Figaro. The two of them then provided aid to Terra even when Kefka appeared to inquire on her whereabouts. After setting the castle on fire, Kefka watched as Terra escaped from him along with Locke and Edgar while the caste itself burrowed underground.
Heading to the Returner Hideout, they had Terra Branford join the Returners as she met the leader of the Returners, Banon. As South Figaro was put under siege, Locke went out there to find out what is happening before learning of another raid on Narshe. Sneaking into the basement, he found an imperial general held captive, Celes Chere. Again his feelings of guilt had him rescue her and vowed to her that he would protect her as they escaped the town.
With Celes he returned to Narshe where Celes got into a quarrel with Cyan Garamonde. Locke broke up the fight and had brought a warning as they prepared to defend Narshe from Kefka's troops. As they defeated Kefka and his troops, Terra reacted to the frozen esper and turned into an esper. When they found her again, they found that the empire had imprisoned many espers including Terra's father. Celes then led a team to rescue the espers and Locke joined her.
As they needed an airship to get to Vector, the imperial capital, they went to try and gain the aid of Setzer Gabbiani as Setzer was the only one to own a private airship in the world. As Setzer planned to kidnap Maria, Celes was dressed up as her to try and catch Setzer. The plan succeeded and after a coin toss, Setzer agreed to take the party to Vector.
In Vector, they went to free the espers, but they turned into magicite. After discovering the magicite, Kefka ordered Celes to follow him and she went with him as she teleported herself as well as Kefka and his troops away to save the Returners. Locke then returned to Setzer after some aid from the empire's engineer, Cid.
Returning to Zozo and Terra, the girl awoke when she was given the magicite of her father. Formulating their next plan, Terra led the group into the Esper World where they ambushed Kefka. In Vector, Emperor Gestahl started to surrender after the airship was destroyed and requested to negotiate peace. Locke and Terra then went to Albrook and met with Leo Cristophe, Shadow, and Celes.
When they were to depart, Celes had fled before Locke had a chance to apologize to her, having been uncertain of what to say, but finding he had started to develop feelings for her. As they started their trip aboard the ship, Locke got seasick. Just before landing, Celes this time tried to speak to Locke, but this time Locke walked away.
Now on Crescent Island, they enlisted the aid of Strago and Relm to look for the Espers. Speaking to Yura, the leader of the espers, they took him to Thamasa to negotiate with Leo. Here in Thamasa, Locke and Celes finally reconcile before Kefka interrupted the negotiations and started hurting people. Kefka there killed Leo and revealed the actual plan to gather magicite. Immediately after the espers were killed and gathered.
Having moved beyond the Sealed Gate and reviving the Warring Triad, Kefka created the Floating Continent. The party with Locke then met up with the others and attacked the Floating Continent before Kefka destroyed the world by moving the Warring Triad out of alignment.
With the world destroyed and turned into the World of Ruin, Locke bandaged an injured seagull he found using his bandana. As he continued in the ruined world, he came to learn of an esper called the Phoenix that was said to revive the dead and went to find the Phoenix Cave. It is here where he was found by the other Returners. Together they traveled to Kohlingen, where Rachel was still kept preserved. As he revived her using the Phoenix, Rachel spoke to Locke and wanted him to stop his feelings of guilt and finally move on. There she died once again while restoring Phoenix back to life.
Joining Celes and the others, Locke went on to climb Kefka's Tower and take down the Mad God once for all. With Kefka's defeat, the tower crumbled and while escaping the tower, Celes dropped the bandana she had been holding on ever since she found it on the seagull. Returning to retrieve it, Locke saved her while promising he'd not let go. With Setzer's new airship, they managed to escape the destruction of the tower in time and the world could finally heal. The citizens had started to rebuild their homes.
"M, M M M M M M M M M M M M M MAGIC?! She used magic?"
"Not a word of this to anyone, O Shrouded One..."
"I won't let go, I promise."
Wobbling on deck, Locke looked slightly confused around himself. His stomach was playing a bit with him as well, causing him to appear both confused and nausiated. He didn't understand at all why he was on a ship at all. How did I get here? he was certain he recalled having started to aid in the rebuilding of the many homes of his world. He wasn't even anywhere close to a shore, was he now?
The waves caused the ship to motion and Locke tumbled sideways before falling on his backside. His hands gripped on his stomach, "what is going on?" he said a bit weak while looking around himself. There didn't even appear to be anyone there. He did note skull-marks on the sails and parts of the ship, so it was apparently a pirate ship, but no pirates were present on deck. Which seemed really odd to him.
Maybe the people got thrown into the sea when the world was destroyed and it got stuck somewhere? he thought to himself, expecting half that the ship got loose from the destruction of the tower or something else. He honestly couldn't figure out a good reason why nobody was there.
"Nothing to it then," the treasure hunter shrugged, actually glad that he was alone so that people didn't see how pathetic he was being right now. Still, he needed to find a way back to shore. With that thought in mind, he moved his body to start moving on hands and legs in a crawling motion to the side of the ship before pulling himself up to look over at the crashing waves and the water.
Studying the surroundings, there didn't seem to be any land nearby, I'd rather jump in the water, but that'd be stupid in this condition, he thought to himself annoyed. Turning back around and sitting down against the side of the ship, he rested his body a bit before a wave caused the ship to shake and Locke felt miserable again. "I hope we hit land soon."
