The Hades CupThe stage is set at Olympus Colliseum. The setting is early morning as the two entrants enter the ring. To signal the begin of the fight, a barrier appears around the tiled arena floor, making the fighters incapable of moving outside of the ring. As a reminder: - You have 24 hours to post.
- If you fail to make a post in that time you will be skipped once per thread. Second offense will be disqualification.
- You are limited to three actions per post.
- Good luck and have fun!

Another tournament? What a fantastic idea! Rojo gloriously strut into the stadium after hearing of the upcoming Hades Cup. It was another chance to prove his exceptional skills as a combatant. This time it seemed as if the tournament would be single elimination, and they would be confined to a small tiled ring. Rojo wasn't exactly sure how he felt about that. Part of the reason he excelled so well during the Mistletoe Mayhem tournament was because of his excellent use of the surrounding buildings during the preliminary round.
Be that as it may, he still entered without a moment of hesitation, because it was also a chance for him to find his fellow Warriors of Light. He hadn't seen any of them since the crystal plucked him from his own world and sent him wandering from world to world. Since the Christmas themed tourney, Rojo had laid low for awhile. He found a nice world where the bars were stocked full and the maidens needed a certain Red Mage to occupy their deepest desires. He rather liked the Planet, or so they called it, even if the technology utterly baffled him.
The time for the tournament had begun, and Rojo was paired against an odd looking cat-like creature. It wasn't much to look at, but Rojo would gloriously triumph over the stuffed animal looking thing.
"Quiver in fear, young cat thing! You've had the unfortunate luck to be placed against Rojo, the victor of the last tournament. It was there that I fearlessly took on four others in the preliminary round, including a white gorilla, and two fighters weilding oversized keys. I went on to bravely fight for my life against a wizard who stood at least one hundred feet tall! I add that to my already impressive title of Conqueror of Chaos, Savior of Time Itself, and, most importantly, Slayer of Women's Hearts!"
Rojo drew his sword, and pointed directly at the cat-like warrior.
"En guarde!"

Ah, at last I was here! Munnie had been waiting for this tournament. Largely because she had very little else to do that wasn’t mess around with books or scratch her chin pensively. The moogle fluttered into the dusty ol’ arena, dressed in her rather lavish looking blue robes – frilly white collar, big and shiny spectacles and puffy purple pantaloons – the garb of a true time mage - save for the lack of any headgear. For the moment, the moogle merely fluttered forward, stroking her chin with a sideways tilt of her head, giving the most adorably sweet little ‘kupo’ before she would hover in place, observing the red mage rather closely. This one. Timeline…ugh, she forgot the number she gave it. Now he was an odd one – she had no idea about him. It was stretching back way, way too far. But it was the centre of everything.
Warrior of Light. Champion of justice. The grandest of all. This would be a fantastic opportunity to flex her skills a little. Almost as if she was lost in Lala Land, the moogle seemed to stare at him with a small smile, finally going into a long pause after he said En Guarde. Unless he actually moved to attack her, she suddenly twitched back to life, ears unfurling to a full rise and arching again and again – like a pair of fluffy scissors!
“Oh my! I am so sorry, good ser! But I was distracted by your long list of titles, kupo!” A little bow, one that would be topped by a friendly little wave as the unarmed moogle seemed to be just giving the typical pre-battle pleasantries. “Wowwee, by the ghosts of time! You’re such an amazingly strong looking fighter I – I hope I can s-survive for a few rounds, kupo.” Tilted her head, ears flopping down like two chocolate-coated muddy curtains, red gloved paws extending index digits to meet by her little chest, a little whining sound leaving her moogly mouth! Oh woe!
“Um - my name is Munnie!” She tried to break herself out of her shell, grinning sharp little teeth as she danced in the air to show her dexterity. “Pray, forgive his silly young maiden from Ivalice, kupo. I know a thing of two about time. I’m happy to meet you a-and I really hope I can live up to your expectations, ser…kupo! It’s so good to be s-standing before one of the mightiest heroes ever, kupo” Showing no hostile intent, she fluttered even closer towards him, hands cupped up against her rosy cheek as she would giggle. “Um g-go ahead, kupo! Y-You can have the first strike, ser! T-T’is only fair for s-someone of your calibre…k-kupo!”

Rojo waited a moment before the rabbit-cat-thingy finally acknowledged his grand entrance. He, of course, saw the grand stature he presented himself in, by calling him incredibly strong looking. Of course he was! Rojo wholeheartedly believed he was the greatest thing since a baker in Provoka began slicing his own bread before selling it.
Now, the creature introduced himself as Munnie. He looked to be a mage of sorts, so Rojo decided he would do well to stick to close quarters combat and some of his white magic buffing spells. But, of course, he would also mix in a little of his black magic to really throw the moogle off. Rojo was, however, taken aback when he stated he was distracted from his list of titles.
"Ah, shall I repeat them for you, then? I am the Red Wizard of Light, Rojo-"
As he began to rattle them all off again, one person from the crowd, he really couldn't tell who, yelled "get on with it already!"
"Yes, and I shall!"
Rojo immediately dashed forward and slashed twice at the moogle with his golden blade before finishing the combination with a stabbing thrust. He then kicked backwards and snapped chanted quietly for a spell. As he did the ground below the moogle burst upward in a pillar of flame as Fira had been cast. Inside the barrier of the arena, the heat immediately was felt throughout the entire inside of the tiled ring.
As the red mage landed, he cast another spell. This time a screeching sound released itself from him. He used the barrier to his advantage this time, and hoped the sound waves would echo even louder for his Confuse spell. If successful, it would give him a tremendous opportunity to begin this round with a distinct advantage. Rojo was not about to lose this tournament in the first round, after his stout victory in Christmas Town.

Munnie's smiling form just stood there as the mage rambled on, seemingly taking her words in like they were the fine aroma of freshly sprayed perfume. His vanity seemed to make her grin even brighter , as if he was filling her with such exotic pride. A gentle sigh left her lips as he would suddenly move to slash forward, standing still as she looked as if he was about to get a couple of free (very painful) shots on her little body! That was, of course, until he got close enough. "Yes." Her voice spoke softly, her pupils dialating at that very moment, estatic glee and adrenaline pumping into her at that very moment. Her body twitched, weaving and bending, seemingly posing as she dodged the first two initial slashes, the second one barely grazing a whisker as it was cut right in half. Finally, she arched her back and dodged his stab, stumbling back slowly as she sought to get some distance from him...all the way until he cast fira. That pillar of flame shot around her body, wreathing her in burning fire as her high pitched scream filled the arena, her eyes wide and visible within the flames, seemingly ravaged by the burning blast! The pain shot through her, her body writhing within the agonizing pillar. Yet, she also felt intense delight. The delight of his attacks landing, the unleashing of the spirit of battle. Oh , my...what was this? She hadn't felt this rush in so long. Was it...anger? It most certainly was. It was terror and fury in their most sublime forms, billowing within her as his last spell struck her, the sonic blast filling her ear as she was filled with nausea and confusion, had wobbling from side to side as her toasty warm soot-covered body looked just about ready to fall down to the ground, a loud groan leaving her as his assault ended, not having gotten very far from him. She bent forward, as if to clutch her sides, at which point she fought against the confusion, murmuring quietly. “Oh my…kupo…” She wibbled and wobbled, looking predominantly confused, seemingly swaying from side to side. “Ooooh, wow, that was absolu-t-tely astonishing, I’m seeing staaaars. You s-sure know how to strike first!” She crooned, her left hand seemingly gripping at something as the very space around her hand distorted for that brief moment, making it seem like she was casting a spell. That was, of course, until she shook her head and grit her teeth, her eyes flashing with mirth as she spoke, her voice drained off its ditzy joy as she would very, very firmly state: “What a shame. You are absolutely pathetic. How can you live with yourself? A so called Warrior of Light like you ill deserves to exist, kupo.” A flash of eye-piercing light, ill hues that defy explanation and definition…The moogle took hold of her keyblade as she drew it forth, pointing it directly towards her foe, her hold uneven and her flying erratic. But despite the dizziness and disjointed thoughts, she still found the will to act, holding her keyblade high as shining white and blue energy encircled her, shrouding the area with its power. “Behold, the gaping maw of oblivion! The violent ravages of the timeless void! The fall and rise of sanity and matter, kupo! I, Munnie, implore you to FALL, MOULDER AND – BEGONE!”
“KUUUUUUUUUUUUUPOOOOOOOO!” Sinking her blade deep into the ground, she activated her spell, using their close proximity to try entrapping her opponent in a Zero Graviga spell – aiming to leave them suspended and disoriented in a field of naught gravity. Her mind burned with calculations. This damn fool was smart. His confusion spell meant that she couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn right now, if anything she’d miss with direct attacks. Which is why she had to play another clever game. After casting her spell, she would be sure to set the distance, pointing her keyblade slightly above him as she translocated herself using Astral Translocation towards a nearby point. Unfortunately for her, she was disoriented as heck – so that ‘nearby point’ was actually a couple of dozen feet in the air a small distance behind him. Unfortunately for her, the combination of teleporting to a random place and being confused caused her to be unable to act again, leaving the moogle assertive but largely staggered. -- Spell used: Zero Graviga (Duration 1, Cooldown 4) Spell used: Translocation (Cooldown 2) Munnie is confused and misses an action!

Things were going Rojo's way it seemed. The moogle had dodged the physical combo, but took the full brunt of his unexpected Fira spell. After the damage was taken, the red mage was positive he'd seen the Moogle smile after the pain he'd felt. This felt odd. Rojo had fought plenty of foes, but none of them had smiled from the beatdowns he'd given them. What kind of masochistic creature was this?
Then, the thing called him pathetic. He obviously had no clue as to the real power Rojo possessed. He had the power to correct the timeline and beat on Chaos himself. Of course, he wasn't pathetic! How dare he call him, THE RED WIZARD OF LIGHT, pathetic?!
"Surely those burns tell a different story cat-rabbit man! Go play with a ball of yarn, you're out of your league! I left my catnip in my other cloak, so you'll have to find entertainment elsewhere."
The poofy topped rabbit then cast a spell, after a lengthy incantation, and Rojo felt his feet leave the ground. Hmm, a spell that defies Gravity...interesting. However, the crimson-clad mage had faced much stronger magic than this and conquered. The confusion effect seemed to succeed, as well, and the creature teleported himself into the air, only to fall to the ground.
"Hah! You'll have to focus if a beginner mage like you stands a chance against the Red Wizard of Light!"
Rojo, still floating into the midair, cast his next spell. He couldn't much charge in for another physical assault, so a magical one would have to suffice. Starting from the source and moving outwards, the entire arena floor was encased in a field of jagged ice crystals. Each one erupted, one by one, in rapid succession as they attempted to make the entire floor a hazard. Then, as the last crystal of Blizzaga burst upward, they all shattered in a beautiful icy blue dust.
Rojo would take advantage of the situation, and fire another spell as the ice was still forming. He locked onto the moogle's position and, instantly, a bolt of lightning made directly for the Moogle. A simple Thunder spell sure, but any damage was moving him further to advantage.
Now, Rojo would soon gracefully and be able to fight physically once again. Until then, he could simply hang in hair and cast while he felt his body face slight gravity damage each moment he was in air. At first, it wasn't so bad, but the longer he floated in the air, the more the toll the anti-gravity spell took on his body. He would need a Cure spell soon.

This was a fantastic test of her skills! Munnie was quite impressed by her ability to handle the situation – and it gave her a good idea of the strengths and weaknesses of the magic loadout this keyblade gave her access to. For one, she’d begun to realize that she relied far more on her direct target magical spells than any of this nonsense. However, the Graviga spell was certainly a nice touch. When the magical assault came, the moogle was still reeling from her teleportation, quickly curling her wings around her and raising her keyblade at the ready, able to throw herself up into the air and get her flight going before being struck by those crystals. The moogle grunted, being rained upon by the icy blue shards, the sharp ice surging into her body as she was yet to even land a single hit on this annoying soul! How unfortunate. The pain of getting all that ice blasted into her was really starting to wear on her body, but her prolonged exposure to the void had helped to garner some level of resistance against such things. Which is to say, biting through the pain wasn’t so bad when you’d experienced it all before.
“Rage Mage of Light, kupo?! Hah! Even trying to compare your magical skills with mine is an absolute blasphemy, kupo.” Munnie focused her wings towards flying higher, wanting to use this opportunity to make sure she got out of range of any future melee attacks. Her erratic attempts to move allowed her to move out of the way of his thunder attack just before it hit, the blast of sound helping to give her some inkling of perspective as her senses were slowly beginning to recover from the confusion spell – but not quite there yet.
Munnie still had an ace up her sleeve. She just had to hold on for a brief moment. Until then…
She raised her keyblade once more, angered little moogle murmurings leaving her as she manipulated time around her, surrounding her with a shell of Haste, reinvigorating her body and allowing her spell cast times to regenerate even faster.
Following this, she conditioned herself to translocate once more, pointing her blade backwards and this time teleporting herself to the other end of the arena via Astral Translocation, giving her a rather significant advantage of height and distance.
She could still feel the shards of ice within her, the battle was certainly going to take a toll on her at this rate. However, she pointed her blade in his general direction, her eyes slowly focusing once more. “Tell you what? Perhaps you need more time to say your prayers. Allow yourself a moment to revitalize, kupo!”

In the first round of the Hades Cup Rojo was pitted against the pom-pom adorning cat-thing, Munnie. So far, he'd done very well by keeping an aggressive approach. The fiery pillar of his Fira and the icy shards of his Blizzaga had both found their mark, doing decent damage upon his opponent. The only answer the moogle had for Rojo's attacks was an anti-gravity spell and to teleport himself in the wrong direction only to fall to the ground. The latter was thanks to the confusion spell that had also found success.
Rojo was absolutely thrilled with the progress he'd been making, even if he had taken some damage from the Zero Graviga. That was an odd spell, for sure, and one Rojo would have to learn in the future. Unfortunately, he couldn't get the combo with his Thunder spell, but it allowed for the anti-gravity field to lift, thus giving the red mage a chance to finally move his feet under his own will. Seeing the cat-rabbit-mage speed up his own movements, the warrior of light decided it was time to employ another of his tactics, or he'd be faced with a barrage of spells upon his self.
"Speed up all you like, you're still no match for the Red Wizard of Light! Try the very combination that brought an end to the vile fiend of the wind, Tiamat!"
With that, Rojo charged towards the moogle in a dead sprint. After a few steps, he instantly vanished from sight with the help of his Invis spell. He then immediately changed directions by leaping toward the sky and cast another spell. This time the ground beneath the moogle erupted into a spherical molten explosion. Bits of tile and dirt bounced off the barrier under the might of Firaga.
The heat was immense, and Rojo could already feel the small beads of sweat popping up on his forhead, but this was no time to slow down. He would end this fight quickly and thoroughly. Now, he dashed forward once again, from a different angle than before, and proceeded to attempt a single strike with his fine fencing skills. He would bring his blade upon the creature's midsection, and finish this fight before he took any serious damage.

The confusion had finally wore off. Sight clear, mind clear. Target set. Now Munnie could get this over with before her body gets ripped into pieces by this overzealous do-gooder. Absolutely, most definitely and without a doubt…this could go on no longer! It was time to put one of her tactics to the test. As the last of her gravity field wore off, the human was now let down and allowed to act. The moogle, giddy from the excitement that washed over her – having finally found the opportunity to move and act freely after so long – focused upon her swordsman skills, raising her blade at the ready as she stood her ground, waiting for him to come to her. She had the high ground – or so she thought. The moment he activated his invisiblity spell, her eyes lie dead ahead, stare intensifying as she sought to predict his next move. He seemed to be attacking in threes. She certainly could not avoid everything if her plan was going to work. No, this was going to take some risks and damage management. At this rate, the moderage damage was soon going to become extreme. She had to act.
At her height, she was caught by the blast of his firaga spell – she could recognize that thing anywhere – and only really raised her blade in time to help protect her from getting seared. However, she was struck by the flying ash and hot turf, feeling it sizzle against her as her body had begun to smoke, a shrill cry leaving her throat. She was certainly getting tired of the immense heat and the immense cold! Especially the cold. She was more of a desert moogle. Renewing her vigour, she narrowed her lids and grit her teeth, raising her weapon she reacted to the burning heat with her own spell.
“Stop.”
The world around her would shimmer, time distorting as it came to an abrupt stop within a sphere around her – activating Chronologia . Following this, she would attempt to flutter her wings – ascending just that little bit higher – enough to get a clear vantage point from above and dodge out of the way. Hoping to have caught her target within her little web – once she was free from the limits of her sphere, she would attempt to right herself, eyes tightly shut as she pointed her keyblade towards the topmost middle part of the arena. The very air around her feet shines, a brilliant ivory circle and fine script acting as a halo around her very pawsies as she seemed to form a solid circle of magic, her muscles essentially hard-wired in focus as she began yet another spell.
“Meddlesome Hero of Light. I will snuff you out for that, kupo. Now behold – a grand calamity taking physical form! The deadly finger of oblivion that erases all in its path, kupo!”
From the top of the white beam that shot out of her blade, an expanding hole seemed to open up within the sky, a thunderous rumble echoing throughout the battlefield, as after a flash of fiery light and a small rain of cinders, a massive roiling rock begins to peak through from the void beyond – the gigantic flaming rock still wreathed in a halo of deadly flame. A Meteor was now threatening to end this match once and for all. If he could not stop her before her casting was finalized, she would most certainly be able to at least deal him a rather damaging blow. Or turn the battleground into a sea of flame!

So far, so good. Rojo had dealt more damage with the Firaga spell, but the creature instinctively moved out of the way before his invisible slash had met its mark. What a shame. The red wizard had hoped to finish the fight with that attack, but he still wasn't quite sure how the creature had done it. One second it was there, waiting to be stricken with the golden blade of the crimson mage, and the next second he was a few feet higher into the air.
The mage sent a bubble of sorts somewhat into Rojo's direction, but, due to his invisibility, it wouldn't be hard to dodge. He simply rotated his shoulder to adjust his direction in midair. This allowed him to dodge the sphere entirely.
Before he had time to continue his invisible onslaught, the mage cast a spell and the sky seemed to violently rip open, and would soon be releasing a ball of molten rock to descend upon the entire arena. Several small fireballs splashed down onto the ground below. Rojo guessed he chose a spell that would target the entire arena because he couldn't be seen. Well, the air was the last place this mage wanted to be when a catastrophic meteor decided to play tag with his face.
Now facing a real down to earth experience, Rojo landed back on his feet. Using his obviously superior intellect (the same intellect that allowed him to outwit Lich, mind you), he would play into psychological warfare a little, and make him feel his attempts at damage would be useless.
"HA! You think a mediocre spell like that could harm the savior of the very timeline! Think twice! I've felt worse burns after that pirate I met in Pravoka!"
Rojo immediately unleashed a barrage of massive lightning bolts upon the arena. They seemed to litter the entire battlefield with the magnitude of Thundaga. Each one of these bolts was stronger than a standard Thunder spell, and he was certain at least a few of them would find their target, given the sheer number of bolts in the tiny arena.
The crowd was certainly in the flamboyant mage's corner. They always seemed to like the flashy style of a caster-type fighter. He was pretty sure he heard them chanting his name as the red mage jumped high into the air. This time he would try to take his blade and perform a rising vertical slash through his opponent while he was busy attempting to dodge the various streaks of electricity that were lighting up the arena. One thing was certain, the moogle could only play defense for so long before he would break, and Rojo was determined not to give him time to plan an offensive.

The battlefield was getting utterly shredded! The small fireballs that fell were but a prelude to the titanic meteor that was approaching the battlefield – arriving in little more than a few seconds! If she could hold out a little longer, she would be the victor at last. This talkative little gnat was powerful! A fearsome foe indeed. But even he would find taking a meteor to the face to be particularly painful! Perhaps enough so to knock him out and claim a victory! Of course, she was NOT expecting her plan to fail and him not to be caught up within the Chronologia spell. Her plan was originally to trap him in there so that she could spend at least one of her two rounds of summoning in the safety of…well, not a bubble of null time. Of course, this proved to be her downfall, especially once the Thundaga hit!
Having started her Meteor spell, the time mage was completely lost on trying to summon forth the finishing blow. Unfortunately, this was a spell best used when the enemy is completely distracted and unable to act at that moment…or at least as an opening attack. Her charade was too short lived to leave him open, and at this rate she wasn’t going to finish it. Indeed, the moogle could only cry out in frustration as she was struck by the shining lightning, the electricity surging through her body and leaving her convulsing. IT would a have all at least been bearable…had he not gone in for another finishing blow.
Any normal circumstances? She’d have been able to avoid it. But after taking a fresh beating and now having him acting when she planned to debilitate him? There was little she could do. Oh so little. The thundaga spell left her on her last legs, wobbling in place as she held her blade high, close to losing consciousness as she merely peered up at the approaching meteor, feeling its apocalyptic strength.
“Mmmm, look at that…beautiful, beautiful destruction, kupo. The void, seeking to devour all things!” Her momentary monologue left the moogle largely open, as she focused on finishing her spell.

It was a race against time. Would the crimson mage, Rojo, finish off the time mage, Munnie, or would the moogle pull off Meteor and change the tide of the battle. Rojo was certain he did not want to have a one night stand with a giant hunk of burning rock, so he would finish this battle in the most epic way possible.
That's right, he'd practiced this finish a multitude of times with Alwyn over the years. It was something that crowd would go absolutely bonkers for. Rojo fell back to the ground from his rising slash, and, as he did, he cast the first spell of this combination. With that, a blue aura overtook him. His breathing increased, as well as his movements. Haste would give him the speed to land the final strike.
Then he kicked off the arena floor, with an overlapping white aura. This immediately bulked up his muscles, as if he had suddenly spent six months bodybuilding. The extra strength gave plenty of height, way more than he even needed. He instantly soared above the moogle's head. The crowd reacted with instant cheers, seeing what he was going for. Temper gave him the added strength to make this blow the finish of the match.
"You've done well to last this long, but you're no match for the man who out dueled Marilith in a six on one sword battle!"
The red wizard drew his blade, hopefully for the final strike. Using his added speed, with gravity's added force, He attempted a series of three powerful slashes in rapid succession as he fell past the moogle's level. This physical combo would be harder to evade with the speed of his Haste spell, and it would have an added power from his Temper spell. Surely, this one send him to the next round to fight whatever foe deemed himself worthy of the Red Wizard's might.

Munnie’s victory was within sight. The magnificence of her meteor would soon rain down upon her opponent and flatten him under a rain of fire and rock! Unfortunately, she’d largely underestimated Rojo’s ability to think on his feet and counter her attacks – not to mention he delayed her. Munnie’s attacks were best directed towards single target and used in rapid succession, not having to be spaced out line this. No matter. With any luck, she would be able to finish him before he could do any significant damage. Munnie’s ears failed to pick up the sound of a haste spell being cast. More so, because she was completely lost within her own spell. At the end of the day, the Time Mage was unable to contain her opponent until the end of her spell, leaving her clever yet conceited attempt to finish him largely open to interruption. Her opponent brought his full power to bare, unleashing yet another augmenting spell to add to his power, packing that extra punch as the doomsday clock approached zero. Within Munnie’s eyes, the reflection of the meteor shrouded itself in a ring, clock hands almost reaching the midnight position. That was, until, the moogle was thrown out of her gleeful world of delightful destruction. And there she was ,standing on top of a crater with a flattened hero and a cheering crowd patting her on the head and pronouncing her ‘the best’. She would never see that cheering crowd! Especially now that her opponent had decided to try a full power attack rather than just whaling upon her to stop. The moment he struck her, the spell’s energies wound around her, shattering as her focus was thrown off, the moogle’s eyes going wide as she could only fall back, giving a quiet “K…Kupo?!” in indignant surprise as she fell to the ground, losing consciousness just to maintain enough defensive power not to get sliced in half. As the battered moogle hit the floor right onto her back, the meteor seemed to shudder in place for a moment, the gate around it tensing and closing as the very force of the collapsing portal seemed to suck it back into the void beyond, shutting the door on Munnie’s meteor spell along with her consciousness.
