Cid tends to act somewhat grumpy and easily voices his disagreement to things. Despite his choice for words and expressions that he puts up, he is a very kind and caring person that places his friends and family first. Usually his disagreements and disappointment is shown harshly forward and he will argue with others easily, but despite this he always stays composed and likes to show people that there is always more to things than what they appear.
With his age Cid came to mingle a lot about the past and enjoying to think back about the times and events that have taken place. Especially things he has gone through and encountering people connected to him or the ones he holds dear bring him much joy to keep on going. He holds a special love for tools, machines, and weaponry, being a mechanic at heart and soul. He doesn't like it when people handle these things without care and will remind them to keep check of these things.
Cid was born in Insomnia, the Crown City of Lucis, in M.E. 679. There he met and befriended Prince Regis when he was starting out as a mechanic. They became close friends despite their age difference and he became the royal mechanic. He had a son during this time, named Mid Sophiar.
In M.E. 606 Niflheim crossed the ocean and overwhelmed the Lucian-Accordian Allied Forces with magitek armors. Accordo was forced to surrender and Lucis decided to erect the Wall. This was before Cid and Regis were even born, but this conflict started the movements of Niflheim where they surrounded Insomnia in M.E. 724. With the hostilities going on, Regis Lucis Caelum decided to make a trip to Accordo, their former allies. In M.E. 725 Cid joined him, Clarus Amicitia, Weskham Armaugh, and Cor Leonis to Accordo. The trip was meant to re-establish the Lucian-Accordian Alliance.
Lucis sent out its forces to engage the Empire’s forces while Regis’ group moved with the royal vessel as they were headed to Accordo. During these travels, they encountered Ezma Auburnbrie and Regis made the promise to her to slay the monsters that are sealed within the Menace Dungeons when the war was over. As they fought their way to Accordo, they failed to make an alliance and were forced to return as Lucis came to be overwhelmed by Niflheim’s forces. With the advance of the imperial forces, King Mors Lucis Caelum pulled the Wall back further to reinforce it and strengthen it enough to halt the advance of the Niflheim Empire.
With many of the towns and places that were previously within the Wall now vulnerable outside the Wall, these places were destroyed and overrun by the imperial forces. Refugees from these places came to Insomnia, but King Mors held a strict entry policy that made things difficult for refugees. This didn’t sit right with Cid, who fell out with the royal household and left Insomnia. Moving to Leide, he established Hammerhead Service Station here and started to work as a simple mechanic. His son remained in the remains of Keycatrich that was now destroyed as he had found his wife there. In M.E. 730 Cindy Aurum was born here.
During his time with Hammerhead, an outlaw tried to rob the place only to be thwarted by Cid. Cid decided to take the outlaw, Takka, in and the man soon became an outstanding chef at the station. He started Takka’s Pit Stop next to it. When Mid Sophiar and his wife, Melba Aurum, died in an accident, Cindy was sent over to him and Cid raised the girl himself to be a mechanic like him. Later when Regis’ wife, Aulea, went into labor, Cid and Cor raced to the hospital in such a hurry that the car became damaged. As Cid came to repair the car, he came up with ideas for converting the Regalia to an off-road model.
As the war dragged on and Cid learned how Regis would sign a treaty with Niflheim, he tried to arrange a meeting face-to-face, but Regis declined and was sending Noctis away from Insomnia. When Noctis and his friends came over to Hammerhead, he instructed the group and aided them during their travels around the outskirts. He made preparations when needed and helped in fixing weapons and the royal vessel. Then when Noctis decided to go to Altissa, Cid steered the ship there and returned to Hammerhead when the town was annihilated.
With Noctis gone, Cid was ready to die, but Cindy brought him to Lestallum as the world slowly became covered in darkness. His engineering abilities proved to be very useful to the town. While aiding this last defense against the daemons, he helped Kingsglaives, but at some point wanted to return to Hammerhead. This became a hunter’s stronghold that was managed by both Cid and Cindy. He wasn’t as active as he used to be anymore.
"Got yourselves a new toy. I can crank up the fun for ya, but I'm gonna need parts from...this area."
"Well, I'll be. Crown City-made. If ya like I can make this puppy better, give it more oomph."
"There's a surprisin' amount of useful stuff lyin' around. Go see what you can find."
"Crown City weapons ain't designed with upgradability in mind---at least not their insides. You gotta work with what's outside."
"Remember---those ain't your bodyguards, they're your brothers. Trust in them always."
"We was just reminiscin’ about the past. Y’all just happened to come up in conversation."
"Y’see, a long time ago, the fellas and I ran into a real mean ol’ octopus. Sounds familiar, don’t it?"
"Reggie had a boy, y'know---slack-jawed sloucher, went by the name of 'Noctis'. Ever run into him? That is to say, before he went missin'?"
"Pickiest son of a gun this side of the Cygillan. And it ain't just food: that boy wanted all his weapons custom-made."
"So I go to the trouble of settin' up shop for him and I don't get a word of thanks. Reggie done spoiled that boy rotten."
"Have ya made it out to Leide since ya settled in here?"
"I know a fella's gone out that way not too long ago. Went all the way to Galdin Quay just to do some fishin'. Said somethin' about gettin' his nutrition."
"Goes by the name of 'Ignis'. He ain't seein' too well these days, so give him a holler and lend him a hand if ya see him around, y'hear?"
Slowly Cid lowered himself as he sat down on a rock. Looking up to the clear sky, a hint of a smile was on his face. In his thoughts he remembered Reggie and the others. The old group all together, they had gone through a lot in their time and in recent times it was the turn of Reggie's son. He had at one point even felt like he was ready to kick the bucket, but he was glad he was still there to see the darkness having left this place.
Sunshine coming down on the land, the road near him, he looked further down the road in hopes to maybe see Talcott return. The boy would get back soon while he had moved some of his stuff for transporting. Hmph, things never play out as one would hope, Cid thought to himself, remembering his conversations with Regis. "Well, can't hunt forever," he got up as he sees the truck in the distance, "might as well get back to settin' up shop, I'm sure the boys will have need of me soon enough."
Honestly, Cid hoped that Cindy would take the entire business out of his hands, if Noctis really kept making his requests, he would never get a chance to find some peace. Not that he minded to keep up the old work. He had been the mechanic for the royal family through three of their generations, although he had even known King Mors' father before that. He was already 50 years old when King Mors passed away. Right now the world had found some semblance of peace, so hopefully it would stay, though he heard from Takka that there were sightings of fiends again. It never ends, does it?
