The two chipmunks began jumping up and down with complete excitement. As Dale grabbed the microphone, the day had just reached lunchtime, but there was still a lot of action to come. The crowd had begun to grow during the last round, and a series of small bleachers around the plaza had filled completely.
"Wow! What a first round, Chip!"
"Yeah, let's get right to the second round!"
"All right! First up is-!"
Posting Order @locke, @cloudywolf, @edgar, then Marlene Wallace
This round ends on October 7th. Remember only 48 hours to post!

Locke could go for some lunch. Walking up onto the arena again, the treasure hunter thought on what to do for lunch after this battle. Perhaps Edgar had an idea, but he suspected the man would be more inclined to go after some ladies. He's rather get something to eat after this. Shaking his head, his focus went back to the opposite side of the arena.
Having checked on the brackets, his next opponents would be this Cloud Strife and Marlene Wallace. He didn't exactly know either, so he kept to himself as he waited and heard the announcing of the two chipmunks. Looking behind, Locke quickly checked if Edgar was still coming and hadn't suddenly turned away by perhaps a 'fan' or something. At least Rojo's worse, he shivered, not wanting to think about the previous opponent that was Rojo. That guy needed to enter a competition in talking. Still, his fighting was definitely not weak either. He just preferred someone less talkative.
Honestly, of the two showmen, Gilgamesh had proven to actually have the better brains, but had less tricks than the mage. Hopefully this time he didn't have to deal with an Esper. Drawing his knife, the treasure hunter readied himself for whatever might show up on the opposite side. "They don't know what they got themselves into," he said with a smile, ready to attack when this battle would get underway. made by kiwii at btn! rebuild by metus at khmm!

Cloud sat on the bench next to his miniature partner Marlene. Cloud and Marlene were able to go to the next round. Cloud and Marlene were able to withstand the assault of their first round opponents and they were able to achieve their goal. It was bit rough, however. Their opponent was aggressive; he took the fight to heart and took it seriously, however Cloud was able to weather the storm and he didn’t do it alone. Cloud looked to Marlene and back up to the bracket. In fact, Cloud was sure that they would have lost if it weren’t for Marlene. Marlene was a great help to Cloud, she was his extra set of eyes and he was able to navigate and place his attacks at the right place and use them at the right time because of her. Cloud was happy to have her as a partner, she did almost get caught in the crosshairs from time to time during the first round but Cloud thought of all of this as a way to hone his skills and train. He wasn’t interested in the prize, really; whatever it was, he was going to give it to Marlene and Marlene could do whatever she wanted with it, as long as it wasn’t too dangerous for her to have.
Cloud stood up and sheathed all six of his Fusion Swords into his back harness. He then unsheathed the First Tsurugi, the base of his Fusion Swords and held it in his left hand. Cloud nodded at Marlene, telling her it was time for them to head out. If Marlene let him, Cloud went ahead and grabbed Marlene’s hand gently and walked out to the fighting platform. Once they appeared before the crowd, the crowd roared as usual. Cloud wasn’t sure if the pair before him said anything, even if he did, Cloud paid no mind and would give no reply to the two before him. Cloud didn’t even really bother to know their names; it wouldn’t tell him how to win the battle. But now, it was time for Cloud to change his mindset. He turned his battle mind on and tightened the grip on his sword. Cloud narrowed his eyes and exhaled, readying himself for battle. He kept Marlene close; he figured that the strategy he used in protecting Marlene would work this time. The opponents before them seemed to have melee weapons. That was a relief, Cloud didn’t really like battling from a distance, he always liked getting up close and personal with his opponent.

Edgar was rather pleased knowing that they had won the first round. He had taken quite a beating to be honest. Though, the people here were quite good with their magics that he felt as good as new. He had had only a few moments to speak with the two clad in red before they'd been whisked off for the second round of matches.
The King stepped onto the field and pushed his hair back out of his face. It was the same arena that they'd been in the last time. At least they already knew the layout of the field and could work with it from there. They had gained a special type of recognition having beaten two of the defending champions. He simply wished that he'd of had more time to speak with all the beautiful women that had been cheering them on. "Mmm. They certainly do not. I'm feeling pretty good about all this." He smiled softly at his comrade in arms.
The roar of the crowd brought his attention from his 'treasure hunting' friend over to the opponents. The first had rather blonde and spiky hair. He wondered for a moment if this might be the Sora Kairi was looking for. But, he recalled the boy had brown spiky hair, not blonde. So, this was not the boy she was looking for. That's when his eye caught the little girl that followed the blonde, hand in hand. They could NOT be serious. The King was right!!!
Gilgamesh and Rojo had won before because they were fighting CHILDREN!
"No way I plan to clash blades with a child! This is ridiculous. She's Relm's age." He commented allowed, quite flustered by this revelation as he faced Locke. "What do they expect us to do? Harm a child!? I call a foul. Isn't there some sort of age restriction on these things?" He demanded of the announcers. This was a match that they could not win. If they won, they beat up a little girl. If they lost, well... they got beat up by a little girl! This was a lose lose situation. "What kind of man enters a child into one of these! You certainly are not deserving to be called a father or guardian..." He insulted, shaking his head in frustration more toward himself than anything. He wasn't even sure anyone could hear over the sound of the crowd. "Any idea on what we should be doing? Because, I'm fresh out of ideas outside of having a coloring contest..." He looked to Locke for an idea.

With the first round over, Marlene had wondered if they would continue on, or if it would be time to go home. However, as their names had appeared on the board, she guessed that they wouldn't be going home just yet. She had sat quite happily on the bench beside Cloud, swinging her feet as she looked around, hands patting her bag that once again held the toys she had used in the first meeting. She hadn't expected it to get so...violent. In fact, she had begged Cloud to be able to do this because she thought it would be fun. Well, maybe the next match would be more fun and less fighting. She hoped so, she really wanted to play with new people. And then Cloud stood up, and took her hand. She would let him lead her away from the bench, back to the arena with all the cheering and roaring spectators. She looked up at him curiously after reading the names they were up against.
”So it's our turn again? Do you think these people will be nicer? I really didn't think this would turn into something so serious and scary, Cloud. I wanted this tournament thing to be fun.."
She would stop talking as the new people would walk out, standing across from them. Her hand squeezed Cloud's. She wasn't really anxious or afraid, just a little uncertain. However, she was surprised by the males' reactions to her, and she realized that they saw her as just a kid; and the one blamed Cloud for bringing her here. She stepped forward, speaking in a very polite tone.
"Please don't blame Cloud.. I asked him to bring me. I wanted to see new places and new people; I thought this whole thing might be fun, not so much the serious fighting..."
Her hazel eyes are round, guilty. She hadn't really paid attention to the fact that so many people brought weapons, while she had brought toys. However, her eyes lit up at the words 'coloring contest'.@locke @cloudywolf @edgar

Locke grinned as Edgar agreed to him, but the smiling fading into a confused look soon followed as Locke watched their opponents arrive. The first was likely 'Cloud', but who followed him was much smaller and younger. While they had fought to save the world back home alongside Gau and Relm, this girl looked actually younger than the latter. Was this Marlene?
Edgar beside him was voiding his opinion on this as Locke looked over the two. While Cloud definitely appeared to be a fighter, the girl was definitely more a civilian. She didn't really have the air of a fighter or a spellcaster to him. He honestly didn't know where to place her, outside that she looked very much like a young girl that didn't belong in a tournament. Was this all a trick to the eyes? Honestly, if Rojo and Gilgamesh were here... Would those two literally stop children into the ground? He recalled Edgar's commentary in the previous round on them winning a tournament due to fighting children.
Was this current scene evidence to that? Did they enter a kiddy game? The blonde man definitely didn't look like someone that played 'nice'. He allowed Edgar to continue voicing his concerns while the treasure hunter remained quiet. When Locke was asked, he looked towards Edgar and performed a shrug. Hearing the girl having asked the blonde guy to be there, it seemed she thought this was fun rather than battle. That removed the part where she could be some kind of powerful spellcaster that just didn't appear like one. She could still be a trickster that was just playing with them.
Honestly, at this point Locke had no idea what to do. He had initially thought of perhaps trying to rush the girl and see how she'd react if he could pin her down. If she'd have some tricks up her sleeve, he'd find out that way, or if she had nothing, he could at least try and pin her down to allow Edgar to take on Cloud. "I have no ideas," he finally said, "I refuse to attack the girl if she's not even a fighter, like in the sense Relm was." The idea of a coloring contest seemed like a funny one.
He didn't feel it right either to just attack the blonde man while they were discussing their current situation. If this Cloud were to attack, Locke would be ready as he held his dagger still out and in preparation, but for now he kept his main focus on this discussion. It just didn't seem right how a girl was there. Perhaps they needed to figure out a way to deal with this situation or turn this into a game. What kind of games do they play here? Peeking around at the crowd, "any fun games people play here we could try and add into this match?" he asked carefully and in a louder voice so more people would be able to hear him. made by kiwii at btn! rebuild by metus at khmm!

Cloud closed his eyes and shook his head a little at the comments his opponents made. He kept his eyes on them though. It was to be expected, though. Everyone was still raving over how Cloud decided to partner with Marlene to go through these matches. Some thought Cloud was kind and cute for it. Some thought that Cloud was mean for it. Some thought that Cloud just didn’t care about Marlene and that he was crazy for bringing her along. Cloud wasn’t concerned with it though. He was ok with letting them think whatever it was that they wished to think. His only concern was whether or not his opponents would decide to both take on Cloud and leave Marlene alone or if one of them was going to try to take on Marlene or entertain her with whatever it was that Marlene brought with her. Cloud listened to the blond haired man tell Cloud that he was unworthy of being Marlene’s guardian; he even questioned his manhood. Cloud rolled his eyes. He supposed that he could explain. He didn’t owe them anything at all, although there was something about someone calling Cloud a terrible guardian that poked at something within the wolf; especially since Cloud has made tremendous improvement in being there for the people that he cares about.
Cloud was going to speak but that was when Marlene let Cloud’s hand go. Cloud was a little puzzled over why she would leave to step forward toward their opponents. It was then that Marlene showed Cloud once again that she was Barret’s daughter. Marlene stood tall and spoke in defense of Cloud. Cloud went ahead to attach his hollow blade attachment to his main blade but he heard every word that Marlene spoke. Once he finished with that, Cloud stepped forward and stood beside Marlene to her left and smiled down upon Marlene. He rubbed her shoulder gently, letting her know that she had nothing to feel guilty over. Cloud stabbed his mighty blade into the ground beside him and away from his miniature partner. Cloud let out a sigh at the thought of a coloring contest. He looked around at the crowd, knowing full well that they came here for a fight. However, it would be nice to keep Marlene out of danger and away from harm’s way. Cloud wasn’t sure if they would agree to what they have in mind but if they didn’t Cloud would make due; he was flexible.
“Ok, then so now that you both know who the mastermind behind this operation truly is…”, Cloud said, smiling playfully at Marlene. “How about we make a deal?”, Cloud said, looking back up at his two opponents. “Marlene here seems excited about having a…”coloring contest”, so if one of you would like to keep her company and do that while the other can face me in battle, that’s fine by me. If not…then I suppose I will just have to take on the two of you as best as I can. The ball is in your court, now.”

Edgar was a tad worked up about the whole ordeal. What sort of man brought a child here? The king did not think very highly of Cloud at this moment. How dare he subject a child to this sort of situation! It was simply wrong. There were no other words for it. When Marlene spoke up, rather quiet with her tone, she explained that this was all her idea. "Simply because you asked does not mean that he should have. He is the adult. He should have said no... or taken you to a safer world. This is too hazardous for you. It's shameful that the organizers of such an event would allow a child as well. Mice or not..." He was not happy about this scenario. It was wrong to subject a child to this scenario. He would have told Gau and Relm no in a heartbeat.
The King was not quite sure how they should handle a situation like this. He had not really been in this position where he needed to fight a child. Yes, he had fought a clown with the mentality of a child. But, not an actual child. His eyes flickered to Locke as he agreed about their current position. He could allow some fighting if the child had even a flicker of the raw talent Relm and Gau did. However, with the excitement she seemed to gain at the thought of a coloring contest... he doubted that there was much of a fight in her. Edgar let out a sigh as he rubbed the bridge of his nose and closed his eyes, tilting his head back as if looking toward the sky. He finally lowered his arms and shook his head. "This is ridiculous... Fine. We'll need the tools to do this... and something to do it on like a table... or a piece of wood. Sand isn't quite a good medium for it. I can attest to that." Edgar HAD grown up in the desert. He'd failed many a time in his attempt to color in the sand when escaping the castle with his brother as children.
His eyes moved to Locke as the chipmunks went to work to get things situated for the change of tone to this match. "Would you like to start the coloring contest? Or deal with the neglectful father? I don't see why we can't tag team here. Keep the man on his toes..." He asked his partner in this match.

Marlene was reassured by Cloud's hand on her shoulder, and she would look up at him with a smile, confident in their teamwork. However, it was clear she was still a bit uncertain about their new opponents. She didn't want them thinking she was 'just a kid's. After all, she was almost 9 years old. And she and Cloud had faced against a rather tough opponent in the last round; were they going to have to do the same?
From the conversation between the adults Marlene gathered that either wanted to be up against her, but rather to play with her while the other would combat Cloud. She wondered if she would have to provide backup to Cloud again, or if this would be a match he handled. Not that she didn't have confidence in Cloud; in fact she held the utmost regard for him, but she didn't want to just go play and not help him. So in her mind she decided that should he need the help, she might launch an item toward the fight. If needed.
Her stance determined, she looked up at Cloud. Her expression is both serious and a bit excited, glad to have new people to play with.
”Will you be all right? I don't want to just go off and come and leave you on your own.."
She watched in amazement as a set of fold-up chairs and a table were set up for her and whoever played with her. "All right, let's get this coloring thing started.. Who's first?"
There is a mischievous sparkle in her eyes, a playful challenge issued.

Well, this took a turn for the worst. Locke wasn't sure what to do with the present situation as he looked over the argument. Honestly, seeing how the girl was entering... and made it through the first round, wouldn't that mean she should get a chance to fight? She might just be sturdy. Who was even her opponent? he tried to remember the brackets on who was the first round opponents for these two.
Disregarding that for the moment, Locke watched as the 'father' was finally adding his own voice to the argument. With how Marlene liked the idea of a coloring contest, honestly? The treasure hunter wasn't really used to doing things like 'coloring', why did Edgar bring this up again? Well, I suppose it is fair, but still! I was hoping for a fun fight, he thought to himself as Edgar was causing people to bring in some chairs and a table.
It seemed the child was enjoying it a lot, however, as she asked who went first. Honestly, at this point he didn't know what was going on. With Edgar asking whether he wanted to start the coloring contest or deal with the 'father', a sigh escaped the rebel's mouth. "I'll start the contest," he replied, figuring that Edgar could fix any issues he makes when coloring. Wait, colors cannot be removed, can they? He only ever drew maps, treasure maps was probably the closest thing to this... right? "Go teach the man a lesson," he told Edgar as he moved to the table.
Taking a seat, Locke checked over the table and whatever pieces of paper they were getting to color. He went over the colors he was given too as he pondered what kinds of things he could do with them. Should this be colored in the correct colors or go a bit wild? in his thoughts, he suddenly recalled the Esper, Figment, and the weird cloud land. It might just be funny, at least he had some skill in drawing, so he should be able to keep within the borders of the pictures. There any grey or black? I could draw a treasure chest hidden somewhere, he thought to himself amused. made by kiwii at btn! rebuild by metus at khmm!

The guy with the spear was right; Cloud probably should just told Marlene no and gone somewhere else. Yeah, Cloud was a seasoned veteran when it came to these contests and sure he could protect Marlene through each and every single match while holding his own effectively. However, nothing in life was ever certain, anything could happen. Cloud and Marlene’s first round fight was prime proof of that. Cloud couldn’t have foreseen that the man that they faced would be out for blood or fighting as if his own life depended on winning the battle. However, the point of all of this wasn’t for Cloud to win any tournament, it was to show Marlene how Cloud spent his time. Despite this, however, he knows that he would hear it from his friends if they ever saw what was going on here. After having attached the hollow blade attachment to his monstrous sword. Cloud unsheathed one serrated blade attachment and connected it to the First Tsurugi as Cloud’s opponent expressed his discomfort as well as his stance on how great a guardian Cloud was for Marlene. After all this, when they decided to agree to one of them facing Cloud while the other entertains Marlene, Cloud nodded slightly at Marlene for her to go over to the tables being set up. Cloud, of course, didn’t move upon his opponents while they were deciding who would do what. Instead, Cloud unsheathed his second serrated blade attachment and held it in his other hand. He would wait patiently. After all, it was a light hearted tournament and Cloud was not going to ambush them when he knows full well that they could just toss the idea out of the window and just go ahead to try to hurt Marlene. Cloud was nothing if not honorable on the field of battle. It was then that Marlene expressed her concern for Cloud’s safety. Cloud smiled down at Marlene, hoping that his disposition would bring her to be at ease and feel guiltless. It’s better for her to be out of harm’s way, doing something that she loves. The question is, will the men before them keep their word on this? Cloud stabbed the First Tsurugi into the ground and kneeled down to face Marlene. He placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, keeping his warm and calm smile.
“I will be fine, only one of them is going to face me so things should go over smooth, if they play fair. It’s still a tournament so make sure you color your best so we can win.”, Cloud said, winking at his small partner. Cloud unearthed his First Tsurugi, bringing it out from the hard concrete platform that they were upon.
Cloud watched as the man with the daggers went to go and entertain Marlene, which left Cloud with the man that Cloud that he was a terrible guardian for Marlene. Cloud got into his traditional fighting stance, accommodating the fact that he was dual wielding his main sword and his second serrated blade attachment. Cloud stared dead into the eyes of his opponent, resetting his mind to be battle focused and determined. Cloud exhaled, letting his smile and warm disposition fade away. They didn’t have a lot of time left it seemed so they would have to hurry if there was going to be a clear decision for this fight.
“Alright, let’s see what you can do…”
Actions Taken:
1. Cloud attaches the hollow blade attachment to the First Tsurugi
2. Cloud attaches the first serrated blade to the First Tsurugi

Edgar was faintly relieved that they planned to have a 'coloring' contest for the child. It meant that they could keep her out of the way for their fight. He would not have been able to forgive himself for harming the young girl if she'd ended up in the wrong place at the wrong time. The hard part was going to be making sure to use only certain abilities and tools so not to harm or hinder Marlene. His eyes shifted to Locke as he commented about teaching the man a lesson. But, instead of replying he nodded in agreement. That is exactly what he planned to do. No self respecting man would bring a child to this. It was bad enough there were children in the audience watching the violence. It was a whole different story to be bring a child willingly into the middle of things.
"You certainly will see the best I can offer. It's a reckless thing bringing a child here. It extremely unlikely that she'll make it out of this tournament unscathed if you win this match. What's the point? You should be doing things a normal girl wants to do at this age like coloring. Not combat. It's bad enough that I've had to fight alongside children as young as her... but at least they had abilities and wisdom beyond their years. That they had to because the world was in jeopardy. This? This is foolish... Hopefully Locke and myself can end your tournament here. That way at least someone is looking out for the child." Edgar was quite frustrated with Cloud at this moment. He simply didn't understand how Cloud could allow Marlene to enter match such as this. They could have met someone less caring that Locke and Edgar to face. Someone that might not have taken into account the fact that Marlene was just a child. A risk such as that was simply not acceptable.
Edgar drew his lance and shifted away from Locke and Marlene. He certainly did not want the girl to get swept up in the fight. That did, sadly, rule out some of his tools and abilities. 'No use using my air anchor with Locke stuck with the kid. I can't use the Bio Blaster or my crossbow. I don't want her getting caught up in the crossfire. That just leaves having to focus on basic hand to hand. Great.' He told himself as he held his stance and prepared for whatever was going to come next. His lance would hopefully give him the advantage over a blade. Even one as long as Cloud's. Hm. Maybe he was overcompensating for something...
