I know it's a lonely place, but you'll be safe. Terra and I will be back to wake you up before you know it.
Terra and I will be back to wake you up before you know it.
Ter.......I.................wake...........................
" T..." In the lifeless white room of the Chamber of Waking, hidden away from all life and sight for the last 13 years... something began to stir. On the single white throne which pulse light through the floors and up the walls in sealing symbols... a lone figure began to move his mouth. " Aq-ah....." The fair boy's lips, cracked and nearly stuck together from decades of inactivity began slowly peeling apart as wisps of air and sound echoed from the teen's raspy throat. Air flooded into his lungs, eyes fluttered beyond closed lids... a event of great importance would occur. " Ter...ra... A...qua..." When Ven finally opened his eyes he instinctively reeled back against the cold stone of the throne's rest. The room's light blinding him after so long being engulfed in darkness... and yet it felt like light before he had awoken. " W-where...am I." Ven murmured to himself before slowly sliding out of the chair, his legs still not fully responding. Blinking his eyes once, twice, then once more; the blurry white room began drifting into a smoother and sharper realm. " What is... this place?" Pulling himself to a standing position along the arm rest of the chair, Ventus' stiff neck slowly swiveled around the circular room. There were sigils imprinted in the wall that resembled that of the master. Was he somewhere in the master's castle? ...but that couldn't be; someone...destroyed it. Master Eraqus was... dead? But how? " Guh..." Gritting his teeth while squeezing his eyes shut, Ven slowly began stumbling foreward towards the only door in the room. The master was killed by... Terra? ...no... Xehan-" !!!" His eyes snapping open in realization, Ventus nearly fell over in his abrupt haste as memory flooded back into his consciousness all at once. " Terra, Aqua. I've got to see if they're okay!" As the memories of all that had occurred before, the battle with Xehanort, his clash with Vanitas, Aqua's last words echoing in his mind; Ventus finally reached the large azure doorway finally leading out of the wretched room. Pushing as hard as he could in his still sluggish state, Ven tried his best to force it open only for the doorway to give no leeway. " Come on you stupid thing! Mooove!" Pounding his fist on the door repeatedly, Ven began shouting as loud as his dehydrated lungs could spare; hoping, pleading to attract someone's attention. " Help! I'm trapped in here! Is anybody there?! AQUA? TERRA!" (( Xion @punker ))

[attr="class","iconimage"] I'm dressed to kill and you know that I will
○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ We're dancing in the dark with my hands around your heart | All was silent as the salmon-haired man strolled down the hallway of his new castle, walking close enough to one of the walls that he could brush his fingertips along it as he passed. How had it come into his possession, one might ask? Well, in the midst of exploring it's many chambers thus far he'd only found mindless beasts of shadow plaguing it's halls. Simple Heartless proved to be no match for the Immortal Accursed, not that his kin would have attacked him anyway. Yet he could sense something else in the castle. He hadn't been a Heartless for long, but he knew that it was the scent of a powerful heart. One that he wanted more than anything to claim for himself.
"Room after room and yet not a throne in sight. How poorly designed this castle is. I aught to have a word with it's architect." The man's voice was oddly smooth despite the gravel rumbling up from the back of his throat. But then, he paused in the middle of the hallway, taking a moment to glance back over his shoulder before returning his gaze forward. "Hm? I believe I've been here before. How very strange. Though it does all look very much the same..." He took a moment to raise his hand, a cylinder of light flashing between his fingers before a short sword took shape. He slashed at the wall, leaving a deep diagonal gouge on it's surface before letting the weapon fade back into particles of light, continuing forward once more.
The next few minutes passed in silence, though Ardyn's eyes narrowed at he spotted something familiar up ahead. He picked up the pace slightly before stopping in front of a single line cut into the wall. The one he'd made just moments before. His hands balled into fists for a moment... and then relaxed as he forced himself to smile. "A trick, then. Or an illusion of some sort? Ah, but I'm no stranger to such things. In that case, let us try something different." With that, he focused on the location of the heart before raising his left hand and snapping his fingers, vanishing into thin air.
When Ardyn reappeared, he found himself standing before a large white door... and the heart that he sought was just on the other side of it. His lips curled into a wide, wicked grin. He arrived just in time to hear the person on the other side of the door cry out for help. How fortuitous for them that Ardyn was here now to make all their troubles go away. "One moment- I would ask that you please step away from the door so that I may attempt to open it for you." The man extended an arm and pressed against the door... only to find that it wouldn't budge. But that was expected. He clenched his free hand into a fist, allowing the darkness to gather around his palm... and then touched his fingers to the door's frame, causing an explosion of energy powerful enough to blow the door open. Ardyn's expression was one of surprise, glancing down at his hand for a moment. "...It seems that I don't know my own strength."
He looked up again, likely finding himself staring at a blonde child. His grin returned, throwing his arms out to either side in a flourish. "Well, hello there! How curious that I would find another in this place- I'd hoped you were the King of this castle, but it seems that I was mistaken. But no need to thank me, I'm always happy to help those in need." His right arm returned to his face, lifting his hat off his head for a moment before placing it back down in an informal greeting. "I do hope you don't mind my inquiring- but how exactly did you manage to get yourself trapped in this room of yours?"

Ventus might not have heard Ardyn's calls through the thick, towering azure door had his repeated banging not died down from his still weakened form. Freezing up as a muffled voice managed to make its way through the thick frame, the blonde twisted his face in confusion, straining his ears trying to hear what was being said. "Wha-?"
Feeling the hairs on the back of his neck stand up as energy crackled through the air, Ven instinctively took a step back from the door. Good thing he did too, as not even a moment later a tremendous explosion blew the previously stationary blue blocks wide-open within an instant! As Ventus watched the doors blow open, his eyes began to light up with a glimmer of hope. They had heard him! Terra or Aqua had heard him and were just on the other side! He told himself everything was gonna be alright as he slowly took a step towards the opening... only for his face to fall as his eyes beheld some man he did not know facing him from within a fading plume of smoke.
Well, hello there!
"..."
"Um...thanks?" The ensuing awkward silence seemed to last for hours as Ven could barely even speak a word... Finally though, the youth found his voice before trying to size up the grizzly haired cowboy. The guy looked pretty old and unsettling, with unkempt red hair covering his skull. The last person Ven had ever seen with red hair, of a much more vibrant color, was... um... someone... eh, his memory was still kinda muddled. It's not like he had it memorized!
I do hope you don't mind my inquiring- but how exactly did you manage to get yourself trapped in this room of yours?
Ventus didn't really know why; but something about Ardyn really put him off for some reason. Just standing a few meters away from him, it almost felt like a hidden darkness was burning his face off with how strong it was emanating from the man. "W-who are you?" Ven questioned before stepping out of the room, cautiously around Ardyn, and into the strange hallway where everything was still ridiculously white! "What is this place? Ugh, why is it so white?" ...no, that wasn't the question he wanted to ask. ...this place had to be some sort of building Master Eraqus had created, his mark was quite literally glowing around on the walls and in the room Ven was just in. The real question here...
Staring the Heartless dead in the eyes, Ven wore a very serious frown as his sluggish mind tried to grasp together the proper words. "...D-Do you know anybody named... um... Terra or Aqua? Are they here?" Only a keyblade wielder would have been allowed here, right...? Maybe this guy was some sort of master?

○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ We're dancing in the dark with my hands around your heart | The boy's disappointment was palpable, but it mattered not. Clearly he had been expecting someone else- but was his preferred savior still in the castle or somewhere else entirely? The child was the only one he could sense nearby, but it's possible his friend simply didn't have such a strong heart... or perhaps they weren't even human at all. One of many things he would need to learn before he could even think of attempting to claiming his prize.
Yet, the boy's suspicion was merely met with a wide grin from Ardyn. Oh, this was going to be fun. "My name? You may refer to me as Ardyn if you wish, though I won't take offense if you forget it. I am noone of any particular import after all." He smiled at his own little private joke before stepping back and turning slightly to the side, offering the child more space to investigate his surroundings. But as for where they were... he simply gave an exaggerated shrug that pushed his shoulders up to his ears. "I'm afraid I've only just arrived myself, I couldn't tell you the name of this place or what it's purpose is. Though I must agree- the decor could use a little sprucing up. Why, I was just telling myself that I would have to find the architect of this place and advise them to-"
He paused for a moment, tapping his chin thoughtfully as he took a few wayward steps forward. "Terra? No, I can't say I know anyone of that name." But as the boy continued, Ardyn suddenly turned around as his face brightened. "Ah, you're a friend of Aqua's?" He quickly turned his head to the side and frowned as he cupped his chin, muttering to himself. "No, no, it couldn't be the same Aqua that I am acquainted with. Or could it...?" He had no idea who that was, but that didn't really matter. Not as far as he was concerned. He was just fishing for more information.

You may refer to me as Ardyn if you wish, though I won't take offense if you forget it.
Yeah... something about this guy definitely seemed off. Maybe it was just the way he talked, his studying gaze, or the fact that darkness was radiating off of the guy like an open fire; but something about Ardyn continued to leave Ven in a discomforted position. "It's... Nice to meet you, Ardyn." He murmured, his voice still a bit unsteady. The wafting scent of darkness making him almost too sick to be around the heartless in such a compromised state. "I'm Ventus..."
'Call me Ven' was what he would have liked to say afterwards; a coupled phrase the youth would normally utter like clockwork during every encounter... but something just felt different at the moment. Now just didn't feel like the time; especially when he didn't really even know anything about this person. He didn't know anything about this place either, only increasing Ventus' growing suspicions. Now that Ven thought about it, he had practically no recollection of ever coming here. He glared up at Ardyn, tensing up as the keyblade wielder began feeling even more uneasy next to this mysterious stranger.
Ah, you're a friend of Aqua's?
Until he said the magic words.
Eyes widening with a spark of renewed hope, Ventus' head snapped back upwards to look at Ardyn with a disbelieving smile slowly beginning to form. Bringing up his hands to grip the sides of the heartless's arms in his excitement, the blonde unintentionally contacted the Darkness in his enthusiastic haste. "Y-You know Aqua!? S-She's really here!?" In his mind, there was no way that it could just be a coincidence that this guy was here and knew a person named Aqua. Of course it also didn't occur to the hasty youth that Ardyn was just lying to coax more information out of Ven, but the thought barely even registered as his hopeful, eccentric side took over; himself trying to coax a definite confirmation out of Ardyn! "She's kinda tall, has blue hair, wears clothes kinda like mine?" Ventus elaborated, as if explaining what Aqua was like would allow Ardyn to explain better where she was, if he knew.
Oh, such a poor, poor, naive boy...

○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ We're dancing in the dark with my hands around your heart | He noticed that the boy seemed ill, but didn't think much of it. But when the boy gave his name he nodded in response. "Alright then, Ven! It is a pleasure to meet you." Ardyn canted his head slightly to the side and leaned forward, his grin turning lopsided. "I can call you Ven, can't I?" He tended to call people by nicknames anyway, so the fact that Ventus would have preferred 'Ven' was just a happy little coincidence.
Of course, as soon as he uttered the name 'Aqua' the boy was all over him, practically glowing with delight. Exactly the reaction that he had hoped to elicit from Ventus. How foolish, that Ven would so easily fall into his trap. But such was one of the flaws of youth. Even Ardyn himself was quite the impulsive young lad back in the day. But when Ventus asked if she was here, Ardyn simply offered a sad frown, the corners of his mouth pulling his face down as he shook his head slowly. "I'm afraid not. As far as I know, we are the only two currently in this castle- though of course, there could still be others afoot. You are the first I've encountered so far however."
But when Ventus gave a description of the one known as Aqua, Ardyn couldn't help but smile brightly in response. That was all he needed. The boy had no idea of the fatal mistake he'd just made- but he soon would. "Yes, the very same! If we can find a way out of this place, I would be more than happy to show you to her. I'm sure she'll be just delighted to see you again." He took a step back, gently pulling his arms free of Ventus' grasp before throwing his arms out to the side, gesturing down both hallways at once. "I'm ashamed to admit that I am rather lost myself. Perhaps a fresh perspective will set us right. Choose a direction, if you would, and we'll see if you're a better pathfinder than I."

Huh, he even managed to get his nickname right. It would be a lie to say that Ven wasn't at least a bit contemplative about Ardyn's request to call him by the name he normally tells people to call him. Maybe having said it so many times, the youth unknowingly gave himself an air which automatically advised people to call him "Ven" instead of his full name? I'm afraid not.Irregardless of that potential epiphany, Ventus' enthusiasm began to ebb dangerously at Ardyn's answer. He has no idea how he'd got here, this mystery guy was giving off more darkness than that one creepy attic at the Land of Departure's Castle, and Ventus was stuck in some kind of white-oblivion castle that might be made by Master Eraqus... and he wasn't even sure about that! Was it really that much to ask for just one thing to go right for the pure hearted keyblade wielder? " Oh..." His disappointment evident, Ven's gaze dropped down to the floor in dejection. Still... the fact that Aqua was okay provided at least some comfort to the blonde. Taking a deep breathe and putting on a brave face, Ven nodded to Ardyn before starting off in a random direction down the hall. " R-Right... Well, I think whichever way we go should be fine." He nodded at the older man before waving a hand to urge him to follow. Whatever this place was, it'd be a safe bet to assume it was made by keyblade wielders. Meaning that if there was some sort of enchantment preventing them from moving, it'd probably let them go if they followed their hearts or something, right? Choose a direction, if you would, and we'll see if you're a better pathfinder than I.Ardyn's wording did help stir something important out of Ventus' memory. " Path... finder..." Murmuring the word under his breathe, the youth steadily reached his hand down into his pocket; feeling his fingers around the fabric depths for a good moment or two before skin finally brushed against something hard and pronged. Pulling it out would reveal it to be a green star, glinting with a magical glow off of its translucent shape. The Wayfinder that Aqua had given him, one of a unique trio... just like her, Terra, and him. Clenching the trinket tightly, he resolved to put trust in their bond. Ventus let his heart be his guiding key, and continued walking.

..it's a new day.
--♦♦♦-- The Castle seemed different than she last remembered, but then she had recently decided that relying on memory that was missing some pieces was not the best idea; in fact, she had come to realize that trying to focus on some of the gaps gave her a headache, so for the time being she stopped worrying about what she couldn't remember, as she was sure it would return eventually. It wasn't like she was missing anything serious, at least to her knowledge. She remembered Roxas, and Axel, and a couple others; the rest would supposedly return in time. As she wandered the all-white halls, Xion felt this place was familiar, though she couldn't recall ever visiting this place before. For some reason it was almost like...coming home. But then, she wasn't sure whether that could be right or not seeing as she didn't really have a place to call 'home'.
She continued wandering, feeling both as if the place was peacefully quiet, but also mysterious. Could there be something worth exploring here? Curiosity couldn't be ignored, and so she roamed further, enjoying the peace until she thought she heard someone(s). She had been fairly certain she was alone, but then, she didn't really know this place. It was possible there wears others here...wasn't it? Walking toward where she thought she heard the voices, Xion was somewhat cautious, her steps careful as she looked for the people who she presumed had been talking.
"Hello? Is somebody in here...?"
She peered around a corner, only to see yet another hallway. Curious....

○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ We're dancing in the dark with my hands around your heart | When Ventus gestured for Ardyn to follow, he did so happily, taking short strides as to avoid overtaking the boy with his longer legs. But as they walked, the man tapped his chin thoughtfully. "How very curious that we would both wake up in this place with no memory of how we arrived. Almost as if it were fate." His tone was dismissive, as if he couldn't even take the idea seriously enough to make a joke of it. "I don't suppose you would happen to know a boy named Noct by any chance? My apologies- Noctis Lucis Caelum is his proper name. He was the last person I recall seeing before I woke up here, and so I just want to make sure that he's unharmed. We're quite close friends, you see."
But after Ventus pulled out his wayfinder, Ardyn slinked up directly behind the boy, leaning over him to peek over his head at the object in his hands. "Oho? And what might that trinket be? I've not seen anything like it." The real reason for the question was that he could feel same strange, invisible force pushing against him once it was drawn, as if it were repulsing his very existence. Of course, his spirit was far too strong to be repelled by a mere toy, but he found it intriguing all the same.
Before he could inquire further, another sound ran out. A feminine voice, from somewhere nearby but just barely outside their range of sight. Ardyn grinned, tilting his head slightly to the side and letting his hat slide awkwardly atop his head. "A friend of yours? Or perhaps one of mine. It's hard to tell, given how this place seems to jumble memories." He bent at the waist, leaning way over until his head hovered over Ventus' shoulder as his voice deepened slightly, adopting a serious tone for once. "Ventus. Not everything in this castle is as it appears. I would advise against believing everything you might think you see or hear."
As Ardyn said this, there would be a shuffling sound behind them, and if Ventus looked back over his shoulder, he would see a tall, slender figure with long blue hair reaching halfway down her back exiting one of the doors they'd passed; the girl turning away from them and running further down the hall without ever revealing her face before soon fading from sight as she rounded another corner almost as if trying to lure him away from the strange voice at the other end of the hall. If Ventus did look back, Ardyn would grab his shoulders to prevent him from following as he continued, "Do you understand? I say this for your safety alone."

How very curious that we would both wake up in this place with no memory of how we arrived. Almost as if it were fate.Listening to Ardyn as they traveled further down the hall, Ven couldn't help narrowing his eyes suspiciously as the "innocent" man rambled. Didn't he say a few seconds ago that he came to this castle by himself? The crazy thought even crossed Ventus' mind that this guy might just be agreeing with Ven to try and trick him! Of course that nauseating darkness he was giving off still rang warning bells in the youth of pure light; but he hadn't tried to hurt Ven yet so it wouldn't really be right to attack the grizzly fella... [What am I thinking?] Ven ironically chastised himself in thought, shaking his head at the idea. Being so tired must be messing with his head. [He's just helping me... I can't just attack him because he's suspicious.] Getting so caught up in his own head, Ardyn's question about that "Noctis" person flew right over the blonde's hair. Maybe for the better. Unfortunately though, Ven's internal conflict was interrupted before its resolution as Ardyn leaned uncomfortably close to peer at Ventus' Wayfinder. " Uh... It's just something a-" About to launch into a brief explanation over how Aqua had gifted him the trinket... Ven found himself catching the info before it left his mouth. Maybe... he shouldn't explain everything him. Not now, at least. Licking his still dry lips, the young wielder took a short breath before moving a bit away from Ardyn; clutching the Wayfinder even more protectively now. " ...A friend gave it to me." Suddenly, Ventus' head perked up as a feminine voice seemed to echo from somewhere further on. At first, his expression took on a more confused tone before it began to brighten up. There was something about that sound that made his heart flutter a bit in anticipation... like he knew it. Maybe it was Aqua?! Before the youth could run off in search of the voice's source though, he was jarringly held at bay as Ardyn's voice once more hovered out a few inches from his ear. Ventus. Not everything in this castle is as it appears. I would advise against believing everything you might think you see or hear." Wh-...What?" Ven automatically voiced his confusion, staring at Ardyn even more strangely. What did he mean by that... and didn't he just say he had no idea what this place was either? Before he had the chance to react though, another noise echoing from behind the two caused Ven to swivel his fair neck back; the blonde craning to see its source before being met with the strange sight of some sort of blue-haired woman retreating. " Huh? Hey, wait!" Reaching out his hand as if to follow the mystery girl, Ventus was once more deterred a moment later as Ardyn gripped his shoulder uncomfortably tight. Okay, now he was getting physical; and Ven was not comfortable with that. Do you understand? I say this for your safety alone." Grh-Huh?! Get off me!" Roughly pulling his shoulder out of the cowboy's grip, Ven glared distrustfully at the man before taking a step back. " None of what you're saying makes sense! ...and I can handle myself!" His voice bouncing off in an irritated echo the blank walls reflected ten times over, the doubtful keyblade wielder couldn't help but angrily stare at Ardyn. Something about what he just said, on top of the suspicious behavior, just really got on Ven's nerves. " Thanks for helping me out... but I think I'll be fine on my own now." Ven had a habit of letting the wrong, possessive people get close to him; older people claiming they knew what was "best" for him and ordered him to do things for his "safety"... and something about it especially made Ventus sick to his stomach especially now: that or the still present darkness coming off of Ardyn that frankly, was really making the youth uncomfortable. Even Xehanort didn't have it about himself this blatantly! It was almost like Ardyn's entire body was nothing but darkness! " Tell Aqua I'll find her, if you see her..." [If you even know her.] He added in his mind before turning towards the first voice that the both of them had heard. With that out of the way, Ven warily began running at a comfortable pace down the hall once more; his attention split though now between keeping lookout for the mystery girls and keeping track of what Ardyn would do in his peripheral vision. It didn't take more than a few feet before the previously endless hallway seemed to deposit into a larger, grand hall. Pillars lined the length of the significantly larger structure, with two large doors positioned on opposite ends of the room's width: one white as a pearl and the other a pale yellow.

It was then that she definitely heard the voices, and hurried to follow them, coming to find a familiar hall with doors at either end, and in the center, stood a seemingly familiar boy, though she only saw him from behind. Her breath caught in her throat as she approached him, then ran to hug him.
"Roxas?! Is it really you?? I've missed you so much!!"
In her excitement, she failed to notice the second person who seemed to have followed the boy.
