| Sorry? Why, I've never had this much fun. | |
Rufus was under no illusion that after the fall of Shinra those who had worked under the man or were outshone by his mad experiments would suddenly cease in their pursuit of knowledge and prestige. Under Shinra many scientists had become legends, the likes of which rivaled the Great Hero Sephiroth. After all it was because of the scientists working to empower their soldiers that Shinra was able to win the Wutai war with heroes like the One Winged Angel. It was their tireless efforts that allowed Shinra to first achieve their extractor that transformed the first payload of Lifestream into makou energy. Without someone controlling them as they rebuilt: he was sure they would have continued into the dark recesses of science that Kilmister was prepared to continue even after everything. Rufus had never known science to be evil, even now he did not quite think of it in such a black and white manner. Yes science was good, but it was the actions of these individuals that had put into question of man could be left to the responsibility of controlling it. Rufus was Shinra and it was his responsibility to ensure another Sephiroth or Dyne was born. He alone had to re-imagine the idea of science and man. Ethics was a new idea that would not easily be accepted or else slow the rapid progress they had become so used to. Rufus stood across the way, just outside the door of the room. He looked into the room as Ravus made his gradual recovery. The doctors closely monitored his heart rate and the reaction his muscles and nerves had with the integrating wires and metal parts. The doctors seemed quite thrilled at the machine and how it worked without any makou energy or the rudimentary parts they had been used to using during these types of surgeries. This was an advanced technology and they wanted to study it more, but it would take time because they lacked an effective energy source without makou or Materia. The doctors would remove the hooks and wires they had attached to Ravus that worked on reading his vitals. ' Um, excuse me if you could...?' One of the doctors wished to fit a smaller monitor on his arm. ' You will be able to remove this once you leave the facility, but if you will be testing it in the Training room we will be able to take readings and make any necessary adjustments.' Rufus would smirk and make his way down the hall, expecting Ravus to follow him. The building was as white as the President. Its pristine halls were unmarred by the degradation of the reborn Edge city. The tall, dreary capital state was a contrast to the clean halls that doctors and soldiers worked hard to maintain the status quo. There were many who still suffered the Geostigma so this facility kept track of the Lifestream and her levels to try and calculate when, of ever, the Remnants were to return. Much of this was thanks to Kilmsiter's observations, but Rufus would never allow that man's ideals to poison his new Shinra. No. Now they would prevent the next Calamity. The next Jenova. The next Shinra... With his hound treading behind him the man's authority was undoubted. Even if he was a single man his family had raised generations on a dependency that could not be shaken. Rufus would see to it. Nothing on Planet will be able to run without Shinra's assistance. They would continue to be a forerunner in technology and innovation. Ravus' magitech would ensure that. " Thanks to you I think I will now be able to solve my problem." The executive led the former heir to the Training room. It was seemingly empty save for a console at one end of the room, behind a great glass barrier. Rufus would plant himself in the seat, crossing his left leg over his knee before looking to the young man. " Here at Shinra we are about making people's lives easier. It is hard enough to live in a world full of disease and suffering without us making it worse. So we provide the people with what they need. Energy, medicine and ... if need be, new limbs. Let's just say our old methods did not suit this world so we have to find a new way." He explained with a soft smile. " Tell me..." He gave pause. " ...your world, this technology," He motioned to his arm. " I saw the parts. It looked painful. Monstrous even. Even you can understand that there is always a better way to do something. While never wholly painless we could at least diminish suffering to encourage greater quality of life." That is what Shinra did, that is what Shinra led. That was their control. Rufus pressed a key on the console, starting up the program. The room before them suddenly became black. " When you enter you will find yourself in a virtual environment where you can go all out and test your arm. We will give you a simple opponent. A soldier with basic combat training, armed with ... a sword." As he spoke he typed in the program. It was a basic training program given to grunts fresh out of boot camp. ▲

[attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] Ravus had used all his savings to get this arm fixed. He was willing to pay the price to save his life, but not only because he didn't want to die by it malfunctioning. There was something he was more afraid of than death... If these people wanted to use the technology from his arm, than he would have to warn them, would he not? For now, they had monitored the arm and it's reactions in the process of repairing it. Of course they would want to see it in action and Ravus wasn't trusting it. He had seen enough in his life to know where this could lead, but he would let the man put the monitor on his new arm, Ravus following Rufus out of the room and through the white corridors. Rufus decided to share some of this thoughts and motives with Ravus due to him cooperating so far. He wasn't sure how to think of the man. He seemed to hold a lot of power on this world and it was making him nervous, since he knew how power corrupts the mind after a while, but Rufus also seemed to have 'better' motives than the scientist he met, for example. The president could talk much about how he wanted to help people, but it still didn't change the fact that Ravus was not convinced that he truly would only use it for good. He had lost the trust in people that had soldiers and scientist work under them completely, thanks to Niflheim. They entered a bigger room, Rufus taking a seat in the control-panel as he continued their conversation. He had noticed how Niflheim had put the magitec-arm on him without any mercy. It was one of THEIR little experiments... He shook his head slightly and sighed, moving his metallic arm once more to check if everything was working for now. He still had to get used to the lighter metal and the new sensitive ends to his nerves. He was not sure if he could fight like he usually did with these new enhancements, but he would do his best. He stepped in front of the door to the chamber, but halted before the step, looking over his shoulder to Rufus. “I hope this chamber can take a beating. Who knows what could happen.”
It was a warning... a warning of what might could happen and Ravus really hoped it wouldn't come to it. The outbreaks usually happened when he was in danger of dying or if he got a fatal injury, but he could never be sure if it could also consume him out of nowhere. It was a constant fear he had to live with, until he could find a way to ban the decease from his body. “The sooner I leave this world now, the better. I understand your interest in this technology, but it was not born from anything natural...”
Have said what needed to be said, he would enter the chamber, his hand moving to the sword on his belt and drawing it out with his human hand. “I am ready.”

| Sorry? Why, I've never had this much fun. | |
How long had it been since Rufus had seen one of these programs active? It was only yesterday that he had talked to Lazard. It was him who had been the most driven to protect the people of Midgar, the slums his father had created in his ambition. The villages that had made up their country became little more than a stepladder for Shinra to create their floating palace, which came crumbling down at the very whim of the Planet. Rufus never felt for the people of Midgar like Lazard had, nor did he impress onto his brother any sense of selfishness that he attributed to his father. His loyalty to Shinra was unshakeable and, perhaps, what endeared Rufus to his sense of Justice. Though he had hardly met with his brother during the war, he was always told that Lazard had a hand in ending the war, but they had lost contact with him during the missions into Wutai.
Rufus respected Lazard’s idealism, but the young Shinra could not act as freely as he did. Despite his power Rufus had little autonomy. What he did, it was for the people of Midgar, of Planet. He had someone to look up to, someone he could confidently say he took after. He would never know of that fateful day that Lazard had betrayed Shinra and would try to destroy the company, but he was one of many moving cogs that knew deeply of the inner corruption that his father and his compatriots spread.
Rufus leaned forward, crossing his hands so his fingers netting together. Closing his eyes the executive would listen to what Ravus had to say. He smirked, chin resting atop his hands as his elbows perched on the surface of the console. A backlight lit the individual keps a faint blue-white glow as the monitors showed an array of information difficult to read for many off-worlders as it was mixed in the common writing that was native to Planet.
“It can handle it. And know that we understand well the dangers of unnatural powers. I am not looking to make the mistakes of our forebearers.” He smirked and pressed the program to start. The lights went out for a moment before Ravus was like to find himself inside the program face to face with a 2nd Class SOLDIER armed with the infantry blades. They were long, heavy swords that could only be raised thanks to the inhuman strength of these men. All around Rufus’ voice would ring, likely from the intercom. The SOLDIER was garbed in a uniform that carried the Shinra Insignia on its belt.“You see Ravus, we were men once too, but we dabbled in dangerous pursuits, dogged by our desires to hastily evolve and become more powerful.”His voice rang through the system before the figure would draw from his pocket a syringe and slam it into his chest. The glass vial shattered as a green-glowing liquid spilled from it. As the twisted metal and shattered glass of the syringe tumbled to the ground the SOLDIER began to transform, body twisting and changing as it became a heinous monster mutated by whatever that liquid was.“It gave us power beyond measure.”The SOLDIER let out a fearsome roar as its monstrous body of blue, legs tinted a corrupted orange.“It turned our soldiers into something more than human, but pushed them so far that they became monsters.” The beast let out a piercing roar and charged Ravus. “They were unnatural.” If Ravus allowed the beast to strike him he would like to feel the pain of the program. It pushed a reality into the surrounding room that was infinite and had been the training grounds of many soldiers in the past, even the likes of Sephiroth. It was able to contain most training simulations, but there were some that pushed the machines to their limit. In this case Ravus would find himself on a field surrounded by white-fruiting apple trees. These tall, winding branches encircled the field keeping it from outside eyes. Ravus merely needed to destroy this.“This is Shinra’s past.” He identified before the radio’s static cut out, Rufus’ voice vanishing. The grassy fields were touched by a light wind, but whenever the beast moved a sharp heat cut over the flesh, as if it was on fire. Its skin burned to the touch and its mind feral. This was what Shirna had created in its efforts to become the most powerful empire. This is what they sacrificed to find the Promised Land... ▲ Makonoid: 10/10 HP

[attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] Ravus was preparing himself for the enemy he was about to face, seemingly weighting the sword in his hand for a moment, flexing his metallic fingers on his other hand. He knew that this new arm might cause some problems at first, but he would find a way to work around it, until he was more comfortable with it and able to use it without any difficulties. This test was here for it, after all. The scientists would surely love to adjust it more and Ravus kind of hoped that wasn't necessary. His eyes narrowed slightly as he listened to Rufus, while the President seemed to get everything ready for the battle. The room created a hologram shortly after, the man's eyes adjusting to his new surroundings for a moment, where he saw his enemy. Interesting... Holograms are something Niflheim was also able to do, but not to this extend. “You see Ravus, we were men once too, but we dabbled in dangerous pursuits, dogged by our desires to hastily evolve and become more powerful.”He watched the man in front of him with the sword take out a green liquid and injected it to himself. Ravus' one foot took a step back as he watched the transformation of the man with some color draining from his face. It reminded him so much of what the scourge did to people... Was it possible that this world had gone through almost the same ordeal? It was not the scourge, but the way Rufus spoke about what his company had done to this world and their soldiers... The big structure in the middle of the city held the logo of Shinra and it had been completely demolished. Ravus put the pieces together and he finally understood what this company had caused. They were a second Niflheim. They were the reason this city was in this horrible state. Ravus suddenly felt a strong wave of uneasiness. The commander almost wanted to leave this simulation at once and leave this god forsaken place as fast as possible, but he had already stepped over the point of no return. He had to finish this simulation, so he could get the device on his arm taken off. He really didn't know what was worse at the moment. The fact that he hadn't been able to see it earlier or the fact that he had a feeling this could turn on him from the start. “This... is unacceptable. So your company has also brought ruin to your home.”, he hissed. The creature was not real, but he still felt a wave of disgust. This may have been in the past, but the fact Rufus showed him this... it was painful to witness. It was almost like he was looking at himself right now. Why would Rufus go so far? He could have just stayed with the normal program with the soldier. Was it his way of showing that he would not make the same mistakes like those before him? Maybe even an attempt of telling him that he knew what Ravus must have witnessed? The creature attacked, Ravus immediately on the move with his feet carrying him quickly over the grass. He managed to avoid the attack, the claw of the beast moving past his face, before Ravus quickly brought up his sword and slashed at the attackers side, moving past him in a quick motion to get behind the Makonoid. His metallic arm moved up and targeted the creatures back, his prosthetic charging up with electricity before it would release a bolt of lightning at the Makonoid.

Rufus watched the fight from his console. His head rest atop his hands as his blue eyes traced over the figures. In the operating room doctors monitors vitals that were being broadcast from Ravus' arm. They were surprised that it was capable of generating bursts of energy that could be concentrated in such a way it did not harm the user. It was a way of using magic without materia. A manadrive of sorts. Like a disc drive, but for magic. The scientists too notes as they became excited at the kinds of work they could do with this. Data was vital. Rufus looked down to his phone which lay beside him on the console's top. Reaching down, the screen being face up, he would slide his finger over the face of his phone before dialing in his passcode. He would send a message to the Turks, ordering their presence at the compound. He would put the phone back into sleep mode before he looked toward the monitor, Ravus' voice carrying from its radio. The executive could not help but chuckle at the man's words. Dark Nation raised her head, peering out at her owner, but when Rufus settled back in the seat the hound would lay their head on his feet, huffing. His back leaned into the seat, arm holding perch his face as he leaned his fingers into his cheek. He reached out his left hand to press over the PA system.
The Makonoid was thrown back by the attack, but it was not done fighting. It would get up, a rabid beast as it charged Ravus with inhuman speed, throwing a punch at the man's chest. It had an insane amount of power, comparable to that of his world's Magitech Knights. These creatures were men, at some point, but they were no longer as they were now tools for the Empire, pawns for a king. But Rufus did not wish to be a king. He was a prince without a throne. He was a company. He was the thousands of people who worked, believing that all they did was for the good of Planet now. Rufus smirked.
"We did." He became silent once more as the Makonoid opened its mouth and let out a hideous roar.
As the beast fought against Ravus the field began to change. From Banora it would reload and paint in the world of Midgar before Meteorfall. The red skies painted the memory of the catastrophe so that it was never forgotten. The crumbling city, images of people fleeing and the visage of the DEEPGROUND soldiers standing where the trees had once stood around the arena. They were not men, but monsters. This is what Planet had suffered at the hands of Shinra. Each of these monsters, who wore the faces of men, carried the mark of Shinra's SOLDIER corps. The burning skies seemed to carry the acrid taste of the apocalypse on the wind. The Makonoid would push up, dragging with it a large piece of debris. The twisted ferrous rod was dragged behind it as it charged Ravus once more, swinging the weapon as easily as one thrust a knife.
"It was all our fault. And we knew this. Those of us that had the power, rose up against the demons we had created. The monsters we bore." As the dust cleared and the Meteor crashed down a defiant gust of wind ripped through the field as a blade came down on the Makonoid, cutting it in half. When its body fell twain what stood before Ravus was Shinra's ultimate creation. "In that we made a monster even we could not kill." There before Ravus was the visage of the One Winged Angel in full Shinra Regalia. But behind Ravus would stand two WRO soldiers, a Shinra executive with a handgun at the ready, and a large beast of red, tattooed by the malicious tendencies of their scientists. Even though all of them stood with Shinra, they stood against the horrors that they had made. The red-furred beast looked to Ravus and nodded. They would stand with him. "Because of all of them Shinra was able to face its mistakes and become stronger." The PA cut out.Sephiorth smirked and held his blade at the ready. "You think you can stop me? I'll not be a memory..." The hologram was too real though. The terror that rippled from the program, the power! Even of this was a program being in the presence of the greatest Hero of Shinra's making was -- damning. Sephiroth charged. ▲ HP: 100/100

[attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] This was horrible. Why? Why would humanity always do the same mistakes? Again and again for hunger for more power would consume them and bring their worlds to an end. Eos was no different than this world or any other. Ravus heard what Rufus told him, even though he was concentrating on the fight. The Makonoid was faster and stronger than Ravus had expected. It was moving in faster now, the commander not able to pull up his sword in time, the hit on his chest sending a bitter taste to his mouth. Those attacks didn't physically wound him, being a simulation, but he still felt the pain of the hit. He was pushed back, but caught himself faster than an average human would, his sword coming up, ready to block the next attack that would come his direction. It was in that moment that he noticed, that the surroundings were changing and a strong presence started to fill the chamber. Was this really only a test? What was Rufus trying to do? The screams of fleeing people filled his ears, the red of the sky and the meteorfall contrasting his white-armored figure. It was an image of nightmares that Rufus showed to him. The beast charged forward, dust filling the battlefield as Ravus prepared himself for the blow, but the sound of a sword meeting flesh reached his ears. When the dust settled, his two coloured eyes would focus on were the creature had been, only to see it sliced apart by a way to long sword. Who or.. What was this man? The energy that came from this hologram was way to strong. Even Ravus could feel this. He looked around to see that he was not alone anymore, the president having decided to give him so aid? Well, aid might be the wrong word. He wasnt sure what to think of those battle companions. One was a red lion. An animal.. Odd. It seemed they were ready to aid him in this. Well, it was just a test... He was not in danger of getting fatal wounds. Taking a deep breath, he would adjust his stance, moving up his blade to point it at Sephiroth. "This was supposed to be just a small test...." He got ready, his arm starting to spark, his metallic hand open for his sword to be moved along the palm in a fast motion, the electricity now gathered in the blade instead. Ravus would wait now, ready to move the second Sephiroth decided to attack. He didn't know how strong this man was.

Sephiroth was no man. He was a monster and would prove it! Charging Ravus the man was like a blue. He seemed to move Ina realm all his own where gravity held no meaning to him. His blade moved like light and cut like a laser. He quickly sliced through the bullets fired by the Public Sector servant and WRO soldiers. They would scatter as the man arrived, the scene shifting as the Sister Ray manifested in the distance, far from Ravus, piece by piece.
"If you can hold off until this program loads you may stand a chance. Even if it's not real your mind makes it real. If you get cut you will feel it." Rufus warned through the comms.Sephiroth would come down on Ravus, his blade intent on cutting off his only remaining arm. He Wro soldiers would prepare some grenades, setting them off behind the cloaked angel, forcing him to strafe aside before slicing Ravus, turning to knock back the bombs, right back into them. They would set off and erupt, killing them both. This left the beast and agent. The red furred beast jumped in and would bite down on Sephiroth's coat, dragging him before the One Winged Angel cut the tail of his jacket and turned back to Ravus, charging once again.▲

[attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] What was this man? Had Rufus company really created such a being? That wing on his body was not the only thing that gave away that this creature was not human. That glow in his eyes, this speed.. This was a weapon of destruction. Ravus had problems keeping up with such speed, even though he himself could move faster than a normal human should. "If you can hold off until this program loads you may stand a chance. Even if it's not real your mind makes it real. If you get cut you will feel it." Ravus mouth twitched for a moment. He can't be serious about this.. Ravus had noted that a giant weapon seemed to start forming and if it was able to stop this fight, than Ravus would pull through until it was ready. He saw the attack coming in direction of his arm, the commander cursing in his mind as he tried to move fast enough to not get cut by the long blade. Thanks to the grenades, the blade would miss it's target just by a few inches. Ravus jumped back, putting his sword inside the scabbard on his body and gathering strength for his next move. If he could not avoid the attacks, he could at least try to keep up and block them with his own attacks. His eyes focused on the enemy that tried to attack once more. Ravus took a deep breath, grabbed the sword and pulled it out, his blade seeming to move faster than before, his body blurring out from the vision of a normal human being, the cut slicing through the air and everything in it's way, hoping the same would happen to Sephiroth to an extend. He won't let a hologram beat him up. "You proved your point, Rufus! Don't you think this is enough?!"

| Sorry? Why, I've never had this much fun. | |
Rufus sat behind the console deep in contemplation. His hands were crossed, face rest against his slender digits. For years he had been consumed with the prospect of wrenching the company put of his father's hands, for years he had believed he could do better. All he had ended up doing was taking on his father's legacy, his sins. He continued to pay for 5he man's hubris everytime he picked up his phone and got a report from the Turks at some far corner of Planet or right in their backyard. The Planet was still healing and sightings of these shadows seemed to grow in frequency. " Is it enough Ravus?" Rufus responded as he looked over towards the monitors, watching man's heart rate, his stress levels. " Is it enough to just destory our past?" Sephiroth would come to land, the ground where the WRO soldiers had been standing was not ruined. The men were thrown aside as the suit wearing worker continued to fire indiscriminately. The red beast charged again, but this time was swatted away. The canon was nearly done. Sephiroth was struck by Ravus' attack, the soldier raising his head, glowing eyes turning to the man. From the sides two Sweepers materialized and stalked forward. The mechs would open a suppressing fire onto the immortalized monster. But this would not be enough to stop him. He pushed to jump up, landing on one of the machines, his blade piecing its armored hide with ease. It would fall to the ground, cut cleanly in half, the other focused on with a powerful Fire III spell. It was immolated. Sephiroth smirked as he drew his blade from the body of the machine, his gaze turning towards Ravus. " Did you really think you could stop me?" Sephiroth charged. In the background the Sister Ray finished installing, the cannon starting to charge. Ravus just needed to hold off until than. Rufus watched with bated breathe as the timer in the corner of the screen ticked down. " It isn't enough Ravus. Just destroying them isn't enough. We have to overcome them and do everything we can to never become them. For our family, friends, and everything we care about. We can't forget what we created." The executive was committed to changing their lot in life. Never again did he want to face death in such a cowardly way ever again. ▲ Sephiroth 98/100 HP

[attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] Ravus would lie if he said he wasn't at list a bit shaken by all he witnessed in this hologram. Rufus seemed determined to show what his company had done and what he was trying to make up for. Any of his home would believe this to be exaggeration, but Ravus knew he wasn't lying. He had seen man-made destruction and he could perfectly imagine that all of this really took place. Rufus was trying to reassure him that all of this was in the past and that this was still only a test of his abilities. However, Ravus had difficulties seeing how making him fight this diabolic creature was 'just' a combat-test still. Was he trying to bring him to his limits to fully analyze how the arm worked? Possibly... he just couldn't brush off this strange paranoia he had with these kind of companies. Sephiroth was an enemy he had never faced before. Except maybe Noctis but even the King was incomparable to the entity he was standing in front of right now. He wondered if this shape was just a facade or if this creature once was a normal human being, living a normal life, just like Ravus had before the empire. What had shaped this creature to be what it is, or more likely WAS? It was hard to imagine that he was still in that test-chamber and not on a real battle field. This technology was advanced to what he knew in soldier-training. Well, Niflheim didn't have to train its soldiers anymore, after turning all of them into machines. His attack had barely scratched Sephiroth and after destroying his little 'backup', the demons attention would shift back to Ravus. He felt the rush of adrenaline, when the man would once again charge on him, Ravus would change his tactic. His metalic arm charged up with electricity that he released on the ground under him, creating a field of sparking power. He would injest some of the remaining power of the field in his blade and release a burst of lightning-fulled energy in Sephiroth direction. Should he not be able to stop his attack, Sephiroth would jump right into his lightning-trap and take damage, even if he lands a hit on the man. He just had to distract him long enough, after all.

| Sorry? Why, I've never had this much fun. | |
No one ever seemed to understand the simpler truths in life. Rufus had spent the entirety of his childhood in the shadow of the company's needs. Born as a means to his father's end, in the most literal sense. After all when his father reached the Promised Land who was it he expected to continue to maintain the company? The man fully expected to hold power in both worlds. And while Rufus could appreciate the magnitude of his ambitions the executive himself never felt the same type of desire. For Rufus it had all been a game of strategy. He was the Queen on his father's field and so long as he remained there were none who could check his moves.
Rufus was foolish to think that he acted of his own accord. The connections he made with Avalanche were only thanks to his father's leniency. His intimate knowledge of the inner workings of Shinra were due to his father's intuition. After all Rufus would have to know of these things soon. Everything he did was a machination of his father's design. But this was all his. The Advent of change had been by Rufus' own hand. The WRO rising from the ashes of SOLDIER was because Rufus had put in the effort. The speedy construction of Edge was Rufus' initiative. It was him than and it was him now.
"I'll not be my father's pawn. I may be no king, but this is still my kingdom." He murmured to himself as he sat back, placing his hand onto the system.Everyone made their choice and no matter how many times Rufus ran this simulation, this insurance: Sephiroth always won. Without Cloud, without Genesis, without the WEAPONs they alone could not end him. Rufus wanted Ravus to win because it meant they stood a chance were he ever to return. Well, he was going to return some day. But this ensures were the Calamity to resurface they did not need Planet to win.Ravus did well to set his trap. Sephiroth couldn't charge if he couldn't move. When the sparkburst was shot his way the One Winged Angel was able to deflect it, but with the ground electrified he could not charge further. The Masamune was swung out, sending a shockwave of energy towards Ravus.SISTER RAY, CHARGED. Sirens walked in warning ad the canon charged up and fired! A massive beam of power launched from the nozzle from it's great distance before the flash of energy erupted passed Ravus and Sephiroth. When the dust cleared Sephiroth stood facing Ravus. A smirk was drawn by his features and half of his body was missing. "Do you really think you can stop me that easily?" The SOLDIER closes his eyes and would slowly dissipate in a mist of black feathers before vanishing. The program shut down and Rufus waited outside the chamber with an energy drink. "I'm impressed. You lasted five minutes longer than our last run of that program." Rufus praised. ▲

[attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] Rufus and Ravus had more in conman than the prince had first thought and he couldn't really tell if that was really a good thing or not. Rufus Determination and Will were something remarkable and it showed that Ravus was not the only one thinking so. The whole company respected this man and it showed by how the scientists talked to him and how the people lowered their gaze n his presence. Ravus couldn't tell with this neutral face he held all the time, if Rufus was really the man he tried to make the prince believe he was. Ravus was not the best in reading people, except his sister. Getting the paranoia and distrust out of him would surely take more than just a few days and this whole stunt Rufus pulled here in that training chamber. Ravus plan to trap Sephiroth was successful and the One-winged Angel was rooted to the spot, directly in shooting-range of the canon. The sister-ray released a deafening siren before the charged attack would be released on the angel. Ravus jumped to the side to not get caught by the attack as well, but the shock wave Sephiroth had send out had hit him as well, making him groan in pain when he landed on the ground, rolling to the side. When the dust of the attack settled, Ravus was sitting up, holding his hurting side, his eyes immediately moving up when he found a shadow being cast over his figure, Sephiroth standing right in front of him with a smirk plastered on his face and half of his body missing, which was a rather... disgusting sight, even if it was just a hologram. The program shut down shortly after, leaving Ravus in the room by himself for a moment, silence stretching though the chamber. Ravus carefully stood up, looking at the side he could still feel a painful stinging from. There was no wound, just the remaining simulated pain from the shock-wave that had hit him. This technology was strange to the man, but it surely proved to be an effective way to train soldiers without having them to go through real injuries to learn. Ravus sighed and went to the door, the President of Shinra already standing outside and greeting him with the results. Five minutes longer than the last run, he says? It must be a real compliment from the president. Ravus had just put his sword back to his side, eyeing Rufus now. “I guess you have what you wanted now. The Data from this battle will surely make the eyes of your scientists sparkle with excitement.” His eyes looked down at the device on his prosthetic, the prince flexing his metallic arm one more time. “Well, it surely feels more secure and lighter now. I didn't have any difficulties charging it up as well. For not having dealt with this technology before, your people still did a good job. I hope you use these information well.”

Commonality was never a structure for any of Rufus' decisions, nor was there any desire to prove himself an idea human. Man was inherently flawed and be would not take it to heart if Ravus decided against a partnership. To Rufus such a refusal would have only made it more difficult on Ravus. He, after all, would be hard-pressed to find other worlds with similar technology or who would be willing to take him, face value, that his intent was not to bring justice to the multitude of organizations that were fond of oppressing its peoples. For Rufus that arm had become a symbol for freedom against the liberal measurements between man and machine. AVALANCHE had used the very technologies spurred against them to fight against his father's arrogant regime of greed and selfishness. Though his own platform was based on fear, there was a selflessness to it naturally imparted by the ideal sense of a provider as Shinra was meant to be for its world.
Rufus stood before Ravus, a touch impressed at the tenacity of an ordinary man. If he, as one man, stand against Sephiroth that long, a army of men with cybernetic implants could take him down. Fear was a driving instrument to progress. Without the fear of the possibility of another destructive force from another world there would be none to invest into rebuilding Shinra. With this fear Rufus would rebuild Planet in his image. The thought was pleasant and caused him to smirk.
"Your efforts will certainly defy the naysayers who claim we stand no chance against such monsters." He took a few steps forward so he was just a few feet from Ravus. "Your data could save millions one day." He held out his hand to the corner crowned prince.
Two kingdoms having faces ruin and destruction, but Rufus continued to fight for his.
"Perhaps I could call upon you again--sometime in the future." Rufus turned his palm facing up, presenting Ravus with a PHS, one typically designed for use on Planet, with adjustments. "And ever should you need my assistance I would be but a call away."▲

[attr="class","parmcontent"] [attr="class","parmtitle"]The protector [attr="class","parmesan"] Ravus actually showed the ghost of a smile at Rufus words. He might not say it out loud, but the praise from the Leader of Shinra had not missed it's mark. It was good to know he was still one of the best warriors, even though all these skills might not have been with him, would he not have been forced to serve in Niflheim. And then there was this arm he had never wanted, but was now a part of him for all eternity. Rufus offered the man his hand, showing him a device he had hidden in his palm. A phone? He blinked, taken the object and looking it over. Well, it did look like a normal phone, but Rufus surely wouldn't hand him a normal device. This was Shinra, not any normal company. He raised an eyebrow, but nodded than, putting it away and giving the man a sign of his respect for his trust. He bowed down in the manner of his people. Tenebrea was no more and he was no longer a prince, but he still held some manners and traditions of his home he wouldn't let go off. “I thank you for your aid, Rufus.”The prince straightened himself again, seeming to think for a moment. Should he share some more informations with the man? He had proven to not be poisoned in his mind like Niflheim's lord has been. Rufus might actually consider sincerely help him. Of course there was a chance the man might try to use it to make his army stronger, but would he surely throw away his believes in exchange for the chance of even more strength? Rufus should have learned his lesson, just like his people. He really hoped so... “Actually.. there might be something I need assistance with right now.”The man sighed, looking down at his metallic arm, flexing it for a moment. “It's.. a sickness I am suffering from. But it might be beyond what your people can do. And it is very dangerous to work with.. I am not sure if I could entrust your world with this. I don't want to put it into any danger.”

Rufus would reach up to the collar off his jacket and adjust the hem with a snap of his wrists. He turned his sapphire blue eyes to the young prince, head cocking at the hesitation in his voice. Now that he has shown Sshinra was capable it seemed the young man was willing to put trust in them, but the hesitation was obvious. It was good to see he was not foolhardy, but Rufus would get what he wanted in the end. All it took was patience and understanding the people around you. People always wanted, even if they claimed to be selfless and acted in a way that was altruistic to a cause did little to change; they acted on an innate feeling of joy that came with their actions. People always wanted something and it was the simple nature of man to turn one he trusted most. Rufus himself worked in tandem with the Turks. They trusted each other, thus: depended on one another. Rufus would motion down the hall. “ Come, let’s talk in my office.” Rufus would lead Ravus down the hall, the scientists and militarized police force inclining their heads to the president as he passed or stood to attention. “ If you came here the illness cannot be so contagious.” He shrugged, Dark Nation quickly padding ahead of them and into the room. It was a simple office, but its size clearly dictated Rufus’ importance in the company. Though he was its executive owner he was so on the merit of his own genius. The Shinra named depended on the clever innovation the heirs were capable of producing. Even his half brother Lazard had driven the SOLDIER project with his strength of leadership and studious curiosity. Though Rufus looked up to his brother: in many ways it was the man’s own belief that he was above the selfishness of man was his downfall. Even he had something to prove. They all had something to prove to their father . . . Rufus seated himself, motioning his hand to the chair across the desk as Dark Nation dropped itself at the man’s feet. “ We’ve dealt with many illnesses and plagues on this world, which was inevitably man-made. If we can’t handle it then I would say we’ve not come very far.” He would invite Ravus to speak. He had the resources of another empire before him. If he dismissed this opportunity who knew when he’d have another. ▲
