Mordred looked at the Castle from atop a Skyscraper. The plaza below seemed to swarm with Shadows, the Heartless even now still drawn to the heart-shaped moon hanging in the sky. This was a place that had seen many a great battle, even recently, given the buildings with large scorched holes in them. If this empty place was worth fighting for, then it had something worth protecting. Mordred looked up again at the moon. It was Heart-shaped, much like the description he had read of Kingdom Hearts. However, it seemed to have a huge hole driven into it. Was it... artificial? Further investigation was required. Mordred closed his eyes and jumped down off the skyscraper, his form making a silhouette against the large screens attached to the skyscraper. He then readjusted himself in the air and landed on his feet, his kinetic energy cushioning his fall. He then started walking towards the castle, easily handling any Heartless that got in his way.
He made it to the bridge and walked into the castle proper, looking around as if scanning for anyone about to ambush him. He was not taking any chances, especially in this seemingly empty world. He arrived at the elevator and looked up. He wondered if there was computer similar to the one he used here. Mordred turned around and jumped to the shaft that seemed to go on into infinity. He landed on it and then walked up it as easily as gravity. He turned his scanning glasses and looked around as he walked. Finally, his glasses responded to a computer, with a nearby entrance taking him there. He leapt to it and continued his journey. He finally reached a door, which slid open to his presence. It seemed to be a laboratory of some sort, complete with test tubes and capsules designed to hold humanoid specimens. One such capsule was even marked "No. i". Curious. Clearly a scientist's living quarters in this castle. Mordred walked over to the computer and looked it over. He then held his hand over the keyboard and the computer flew into life. The Nobody focused his power and the keys sprang to life, tapping furiously at the speed of thought. Images and text flew over the computer screen. It would seem that this scientist wasn't an especially careful one, since much of what was on here wasn't protected by passwords. In fact, a couple files seem to have been vandalized by others.
Regardless, the stream of information was illuminating. Someone named "Xemnas" had concocted a plan similar to Mordred's own. However, where it was similar in execution, the intended result couldn't be more different. It was intended to be a source of Hearts for Nobodies to become whole again, at least according to this scientist. How... wasteful. How selfish. Mordred had no intention of being whole nor did he understand why anyone would want to become whole again. Why, so they could further wreck havoc on the balance of the worlds? Not that Nobodies weren't capable of the same, but at least Mordred was using his power for everyone's own good, instead of furthering the universe's entropy. This scientist was also part of an "Organization XIII" of which he was number four. There were also mentions of a computer in an "Ansem's" room in a world called Radiant Garden. He would need to go there as well. Mordred continue to disseminate the information, while keeping his senses tuned to whomever might be trying to interrupt him.

Xemnas sat atop the Altar of Naught, the apex of the Castle That Never Was. He stared up at his beloved, the heart shaped moon in the sky. His mind didn’t wonder much about anything else. He didn’t wonder about the other 12 seekers of Darkness or the seven that would wield the Light into battle. All he carried about…was HIS Kingdom Hearts, which had been ruined by the denizens of Light. Xemnas sat completely still, staring up at the love of his life, wondering when he would be able to rebuild it again. He wondered how he would be able to rebuild it again. Could he find another warrior of the Keyblade to help him? He tried to get the last one he met to help him, but the young man was too dense to realize that he would have been better of serving Xemnas. Xemnas cursed himself and the fiery warrior over the missed opportunity. Xemnas couldn’t think of any other way; and with Sora seemingly missing according to Xemnas himself, there was no way to gather hearts for his ultimate plan in restoring the one thing that truly mattered in his entire existence. Xemnas hung his head in despair, but then, something strange happened…
Xemnas’s head popped up. He felt a presence, a very familiar one. Someone was in the castle. Xemnas stood up to his feet and closed his eyes to hone in on who or what it could have been. The aura he sensed was indeed familiar, however he had not met this being before. Despite this, there was one detail that The Superior of The In-Between had realized. Whoever had made the decision to come into this castle was clearly a Nobody. There was no doubt about that. Xemnas gave a light smile to himself, he now knew that he was not the only Nobody left. His servant had returned home, so now Xemnas could rebuild his army and restore Kingdom Hearts once again. Xemnas stretched out his arms in celebration. Fate works in mysterious ways and Xemnas was glad that fate was on his side. Although, nobodies do tend to betray their own kind. Xemnas would have to be sure to remember that, in case this particular nobody gets any other idea other than to serve his Superior and bring him glory with his deeds. Xemnas made his way over to the nobody in question.
Xemnas followed the aura, leading him to the room of Vexen’s. A laboratory of sorts. It had been a while since Xemnas came to this part of the castle. After Vexen died, Xemnas didn’t pay this room much attention but it would appear that this happened to be the room where the nobody seemed to be. Xemnas heard typing from beyond the door. He wasn’t quite sure as to what this nobody was doing, but the last thing that Xemnas needed was some grunt messing around in files that did not concern him. Xemnas was going to rectify this issue. As soon as the door slid open in Xemnas’s presense, The Superior, with a wave of his hand, set up his Thunder Guard in front of the computer to protect it and quite possibly, shock the hands of the nobody conducting work on its keyboard. Xemnas then walked forward a bit, examining the being before him. He donned a black cloak but it was quite unlike Xemnas’s own. Xemnas let down his hood and crossed his arms over his chest; he had nothing to hide from the nobody before him. “My dear servant, you have returned home. You have returned to your Superior. My thanks, your fealty will not go unrewarded. Come, we must plan our next move against the denizen of light so that we may restore my Kingdom Hearts.”, Xemnas said, putting his hand out toward the door, as to lead the nobody out of the room so that they may begin their planning.

Mordred had gleaned quite a lot from the computer. Now he had names to be concerned with. "Sora", in particular, seemed to be quite popular with the denizens here, though "Riku" and "Xehanort" also popped out. There were also the Seven Princesses of Heart. It was all very interesting read. He noticed a stack of data discs and reached with his telekinesis. One floated over to him in the air, as if drawn to Mordred by string. However, before it could reach Mordred's outstretched hand, some sort of wall made of electrical energy shot up between Mordred and the computer, shocking his body and causing him to flinch backward. It was enough of a distraction for Mordred's telekinesis to let go of the data disc and it clattered to the ground. It was then that Mordred sensed the other presence. Whoever it was, Mordred could tell two things without even turning around. One, it was most definitely a Nobody like himself. Two, it was a very strong Nobody. Brute force would have to be a tool of last resort and even then, escape was a better idea than a prolonged battle. Then again, when was it ever not? Survival, in this case, trumped crushing his enemies, at least until Eden was finished. There was a silence in the room after Xemnas spoke. So, he led other Nobodies in some sort of grand plan to create a Kingdom Hearts, no doubt the heart-shaped moon hanging ominously in the sky. He even had the gall to call himself the "Superior". Mordred wondered briefly how strong the others were, if they could be cowed by this creature.
"'Servant'? I believe you have me mistaken with one of your Organization lackeys." His utter lack of emotions and coldness were very prevalent in his voice as he turned to this "Superior", revealing that he was speaking the truth. His scarlet eyes met Xemnas's own in a display of utter fearlessness. Mordred wasn't exactly brave, per say. He just didn't pretend that he could feel fear anymore. "And obviously, that would be your broken project hanging in the air outside. A Kingdom Hearts made from Hearts... I suppose it was wishful thinking that I had an original plan." Mordred shrugged and looked towards the computer. A flick of the wrist and the keys typed themselves again very briefly, revealing a picture of a spiky-haired boy wielding a keyblade. His name, Sora, was displayed above him. "Your lackey... Vexen. For all his whining about failures and his inability to put passwords on sensitive information, he was at least meticulous about his information. I assume this boy was the one responsible for your project's failure? From what I read, your group was observing him for quite some time. I'll be sure not to underestimate him then." Mordred then turned back and stared at Xemnas again. "I would apologize for the intrusion but we both know any feelings of remorse would be false. I won't insult you by pretending otherwise. However, I must be on my way. There is too much work to be done to spend my time dawdling. Do you intend to stop me?"

Xemnas let his arm rest to his side when the nobody before him retorted and gave a flippant response to the Superior of all Nobodies. Xemnas cocked his head to the side, wondering why this Nobody refused him. Did Xemnas mistake him for a Nobody? Was he wrong in this young man’s disposition and form of being? Xemnas was confounded by this. This being before him went on to insult his Kingdom Hearts, calling it a broken project. How dare he? Xemnas narrowed his eyes at the man before him. How could he insult the love of his life? His magnum opus? How could he insult what all Nobodies truly desired and wanted? How this fool could openly defy his Superior and lambast Kingdom Hearts almost made Xemnas gasp in annoyance and irritation. Xemnas looked the man before him up and down in disgust, sneering down upon as he was naught but a dirty rat crawling through and making his way through the Castle That Never Was. He had never seen a Nobody with such an attitude since Axel. Axel’s personality was a bit fiery, no pun intended but the intent was still the same. It had called Xemnas’s aura and presence into question and it was something infuriated Xemnas to no end.
The being before him, who definitely was a Nobody, in light of Xemnas’s silent reexamination of the being before him, then began to type upon the computer…using telekinesis? Xemnas thought he was the only one with the ability. Xemnas’s eyes widened at the clear disregard for respect. This Nobody’s Lord was standing before him and he went on about his business. To make matters even worse, he pulled up a picture of the boy who ruined everything, the boy who destroyed the love of his life, Sora. Xemnas crossed his arms, letting the nobody before him speak of Vexen and how he will not underestimate Sora as Xemnas and the rest of Organization XIII had done. Xemnas relaxed his face, letting it fall into an emotionless gaze upon the being before him. The Nobody was quite clear on who he was and how apologizing would be pointless seeing as how feelings of remorse would be empty and fake. How little this Nobody knew of what it meant to be a Nobody, Xemnas smirked at the nobody before him. Nobodies were quite capable of feeling, however only Xemnas knew this. This was done by Nobodies growing new hearts within themselves.
In the grand scheme of things, Xemnas would not mind having someone like him serve his interests, better that than him going off on his own and have plans interfere with Xemnas’s own. He wondered what work he had been conducting, perhaps it was something that he could use to his advantage. He cared not if the Nobody benefited but if their interests align, Xemnas might be able to use him and his want to achieve whatever goal he has in mind to his benefit and raise Kingdom Hearts from the mess that it had been mired in. Xemnas kept still when the Nobody made his way to leave. He had more questions…
“Tell me, Servant of the In-Between, what brings you here of all places? Is it knowledge, is it wisdom? You know that as a Nobody, there is only so much you can do with the information that you have required. Do you wish to serve the Keyblade, as the boy shown in the screen does?”, Xemnas asked, putting on a look of concern.

Mordred continued to stare blankly at the man before him. It would seem he did intend to stop him but at least not with violence, but with questions. The emotions this man displayed over Mordred's blunt explanation of the "Kingdom Hearts" were slightly perplexing but not unsurprising. Judging from the info he had just gathered, Mordred knew that these Nobodies wanted to be whole. Complete. What a foolish endeavor. The cycle would merely begin anew, each "Complete" Somebody driving themselves to the same ruin that destroyed them in the first place. And they were mistaken, regardless, or at least this "Vexen" was. Mordred knew that Nobodies had pieces of their Heart within them that could grow to become new Hearts. Which was precisely why he used his powers to cage his own Heart, keeping it from ever growing. His plan could not go forward with emotions clouding his judgment. "... Knowledge and perhaps, some wisdom as well. Knowing how best to use the information given to you is an important key to success, don't you think? A normal person wouldn't be too sure if this was Mordred's attempt at sarcasm, considering he still was as indifferent as ever. "And I have gotten quite enough of both, it would seem. As for your other question... I have no intention of serving anyone, but especially not ones who would imbalance the worlds further. While their strength and skill can be quite prodigious, the Keybladers are good tools, given some guidance, but nothing more beyond that."
Mordred could corridor out, but he had a feeling it wouldn't be that easy. Xemnas barred his way and getting around him to leave would not be an easy task. Mordred had really no other means aside from talking to him so he decided to keep going. "Perhaps you could answer some questions of my own." Mordred then pointed at Xemnas to further punctuate his next question. "Why do you cling to that fractured Heart of yours? Your... expressions at my words. They angered you, did they not? I would have thought that someone of your stature would know better than to rely on something as fickle as your own Heart, especially when it's barely there to begin with. Emotions cloud judgment and reason. I can only imagine that the members of your Organization were like that, as well. Now... someone of your obvious power would have no problem disposing of enemies regardless, but I doubt it was the same with the rest. Their emotions brought them low and they couldn't even compensate with their strength. Don't bother lying... this machine has already given me information of what happened before this 'Vexen' was destroyed. I'm sure even you know that on some level, I am correct. Your Organization was brought low by the same thing that destroyed so many Keybladers in that War. Blind obedience and subservience to their Hearts."
Mordred waved a hand and the computer turned off, Sora disappearing off the screen. He wouldn't save it on the disc, he already had it in his brain. That was more than enough. "Regardless, I'm sure you will be quite busy fixing that 'Kingdom Hearts' of yours. I have no intention of fighting you or stopping you from completing it. But my work must remain my own and that is why I will not bow to anyone. Not even a 'Superior' of Nobodies, such as yourself. Surely, even you must understand this. Now then, may I ask that you move aside? Time waits for no man, even if they walk the edge in-between." Mordred did ask nicely, but there were other reasons that he did not wish to fight Xemnas. His power and strength would be good enough reasons, to be sure, but there was a far better reason. Xemnas, being a Nobody, did not have a complete Heart. It wouldn't even sustain Eden for a second. It was useless fighting him at all, so why make the effort?

Xemnas smirked as the Nobody before him answered his question. This Nobody seemed to have a mind that almost rivaled his own. He explained as to how knowing how best to use the information would be the key to being successful. He wasn’t wrong. Knowing everything there is to know about your goal is key; although Xemnas believed that knowing which piece of information was more important than the other was what separated those that would take the universe from those that would be taken and dealt with. This Nobody didn’t want to serve Xemnas, which confused Xemnas quite a bit. All Nobodies were subservient to his power and rule, what was it about this Nobody that did not compel him to serve his Superior. What compelled him to deny and defy Xemnas so flippantly? There were very few like this Nobody that stood before. Xemnas was reminded of Axel and Marluxia; he was reminded of their foolish pride and constant need to be rebellious through this staunch defiance that this Nobody wore upon himself with brimming pride, believing that he had all the knowledge and wisdom in the world simply because he refused to serve anyone but himself. However, that made him selfish in Xemnas’s eyes…it didn’t make him look brave at all.
“I wouldn’t deem that…”key” as important as discerning which bit of wisdom is more important than the other. Remembering what is important to your goal is what brings success, not gathering every single bit of information and figuring out how to best use that information.”
The defiant Nobody then decided to ask some questions of his own. Xemnas raised an eyebrow at the finger that had been pointed at him. He had half a mind to summon his blades to cut the finger off, however, he decided to entertain the peon in hopes of bringing him into serving the Superior. These questions that he needed answers to…perhaps they could help in convincing this Nobody to abandon his evil, rebellious ways to come and serve Xemnas. The Nobody had asked Xemnas why he “clung” to Kingdom Hearts and chastised him for relying on his heart. The Nobody told Xemnas that emotions cloud everything and that Xemnas was lucky to have the strength he had. Xemnas chuckled; in a way, what he said was true, however, even the Superior himself could not downplay the power of emotion and hearts.
“To answer your question, humble Servant of the In-Between, I have found that hearts, emotions…these two “entities”, if you will, are powerful yet very curious objects. These are things that you cannot escape, even as a Nobody. Being, or rather, “feeling” indifferent even, is an emotion in of itself…and seeking something for yourself be it whether its knowledge or wisdom, or even a heart, is dictated by your heart and what you feel, not your mind and what you happen to be thinking at the time. Minds can be very objective; there is always a reason why we can do without what we seek. And so, perhaps I seek what I seek because I would not be complete without it. After all, our goals might be different, but our reasoning might be the same. You don’t feel anymore complete without gather knowledge and wisdom than I do without the “Heart” that you say I cling to. Everything is driven by emotions and hearts and to understand its importance and be able to use that is the key to accomplishing anything.”
Xemnas crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes at the Nobody before him, he was really intent on leaving, but Xemnas knew nothing about him. He knew nothing about where he was going, what he was doing, or what he was trying to accomplish. Xemnas would be crazy to let him go, even if he was a Nobody. Xemnas stepped forward, keeping the smirk on his face. If this man didn’t want to serve Xemnas, then he was going to have to lay his plans and his work completely bare for Xemnas to discern for himself that this Nobody wouldn’t be a threat.
“True, time waits for no one, however, I am no man. If you have no intention of stopping me, then you will tell me who you are and what it is that you intend…”, Xemnas commanded, standing his ground.

Mordred shook his head at Xemnas. That wasn't what he meant at all by his needing information. Perhaps he was still angry that Mordred was using the computer without Xemnas's permission. "If there was information you wished to keep hidden, Xemnas, then perhaps you need better lackeys with a grasp of passwords." Normally, Mordred would have scanned Xemnas and gotten his name that way. But his glasses scanned Hearts and, thus, it was borderline useless on the Nobody. That being said, the computer had the information anyways. "Regardless, while too much information can be unnecessary, it does not hurt to look at the big picture, yes? I now have knowledge of potential threats, locations... perhaps even allies, but that last one remains to be seen. I have found that it does not do to put too much trust in others." Then Xemnas answered Mordred's question, which revealed much about the Superior. Everything made sense now from his clinging to his fractured Heart to his project hanging in the air outside. The need to become whole... to be complete. Mordred had to admit that there was truth to Xemnas's words, whether he liked it or not.
"The need to become complete... yes, I remember such a time when that was my purpose, as well. However, that need... that desire, it is mutually exclusive to my new, more nobler purpose. Sacrifices must be made to pursue one's goals, whether it be the sacrifices of others or your own." Mordred stared at him when he said that even being indifferent was an emotion in and of itself. True, but if Xemnas only knew. The method Mordred used to cage his Heart did not allow him any emotion. Calm indifference was merely the closest he could manage without sounding like a machine. But the supposed Superior didn't need to know those meager little details. "On the subject of the Heart... we both agree. It was extremely powerful, yet unpredictable and curious. I have studied the Heart for years and have been no closer to deciphering what it truly is than I have when I started. But manipulating it and those who have them... that's a different story. Not that I need much help. Hearts cloud judgment and reason. Those who rely on them too much inevitably bring about their own ruin and are destroyed. Using the mind to view reality as it is, not as our Hearts want it to be, one can make rational, intelligent decisions. You speak of me not being complete without gathering information as if learning was ends in and of itself. It is merely one step in a much larger goal. In a sense, you would be correct, but I do not seek to be Whole. Were I to have a Heart, I'd merely join the rest in their destructive conflict between Light and Darkness and be destroyed once more. The Cycle would remain unbroken and I would have done nothing to stop it."
Mordred made as if to leave but Xemnas was clearly not allowing him to do so. It was clear that Xemnas wanted him to divulge everything. Mordred pondered the meaning of this. Didn't this Superior realize Mordred couldn't possibly wish to fight him? Was he wishing to control Mordred for his own whims? Or... was he afraid? Afraid of being stabbed in the back by another associate? Either way, Mordred saw no need to brush off his questions. In fact, perhaps it would be advantageous. If that Kingdom Hearts were to be rebuilt, it would be a huge step forward for Mordred. Perhaps it could even serve as a Catalyst for Eden. Mordred sighed and shrugged at Xemnas. "If nothing else, I applaud your persistence, Xemnas. Very well. My name is Mordred and what I intend... is nothing more than a True Peace. A rebalancing of the worlds, an end to both the conflict between Light and Darkness and the annihilation of the Heartless. Only when those things are achieved can the universe know a permanent, lasting Peace. A far nobler goal than merely Completion, no?" Mordred continued to stare right into Xemnas's eyes, neither wavering nor quivering before the Superior. If Xemnas were to speak to Mordred, he would be forced to do so as equals, even if the very thought disgusted him.

Stepping from the dark corridor, Even looked around. It had been a millennia since he'd stepped foot in this world, or at least that was how long it seemed to him. He had been sent off to Castle Oblivion shortly after the arrival of number XIII, and he had not returned...
Lifting his head to the sky, he squinted green eyes, feeling the rain on his pale face. Pulling his hood a bit tighter, Even looked around again, feeling a small tug, it seemed, towards the castle. Slowly, the former Nobody began to make his way towards the pull, the splashing of puddles beneath his boots echoing off of the hollow building walls. He remembered being sent away, being mercilessly taunted at Oblivion. Shaking the feelings away, he began up the walkway into the Castle.
Reaching the main platform, Even sighed, entering the foreboding building. Reaching up, he pulled his hood down, blonde hair falling free. While he didn't entirely need to wear the old robe, it gave him a slight reassurance that nothing would attack him. Emerald eyes scanned the walls, the floors, the corridors. 'No different than when I was sent away.' he thought as he walked, reaching the stairs he had so many times paced up and down.
Stepping cautiously down them, the faint sound of voices bounced towards him, causing him to turn towards them abruptly. He stopped for a moment, studying the voices. While the one he didn't recognize, Even's eyes narrowed at the deep voice of Xemnas. Walking with a purpose now, the blonde strode to the laboratory, sliding the door open.
"And what, pray tell, makes you think I failed to hold a concept of passwords?" his voice echoed hollowly off of the walls, eyes narrowing at the being in front of the computer. Shouldering Mordred out of the way, he tapped a few keys, sneering a bit at the absence of any passwords, many of which he'd slaved over for days to set up so that no one would be able to bypass them. "I made sure these documents were secure, no one should have been able to bypass them, not even Zexion!"

Xemnas kept his eyes upon the strange Nobody that would not bow in fealty. Xemnas wasn’t sure why this Nobody felt the need to constantly insult those that had served under him. Xemnas raised an eyebrow when he called the likes of his 12 strongest followers “lackeys”. They were not lackeys, more like essentials needed to reach Xemnas’s goal of universal domination. Xemnas found the being before him quite curious, but the being before him did agree that gathering too much information could hurt. However, Xemnas slowly nodded with a smile, however, he began to talk about how he sought to fulfill a more noble purpose. What purpose could be greater for a Nobody then to serve your overlord and superior? This being had been the strangest Nobody Xemnas had ever encountered since Axel; even he and Roxas had been more predictable. This, however, did not scare Xemnas. In fact, this being before him intrigued Xemnas. Hearing him talk about matters of the Heart and how he sought to be this universe’s saving grace. Xemnas chuckled at the thought. A Nobody had no purpose other than to serve Xemnas, only he and he alone had the power to change this universe.
Xemnas still waited to see what this being before him would say as far as what his mission was. The being introduced himself as Mordred and he sought “True Peace” but rebalancing the worlds and bringing an end to the conflict and to the Heartless. Xemnas narrowed his eyes at the being before him in disgust. He sought to bring an end to Xemnas’s plans. By annihilating the conflict as well as the Heartless, Xemnas will never be able to rebuild his beloved Kingdom Hearts. The only way for his one true love to be restored was for the warriors of the Keyblade to continue to wage war against Darkness and feed his Kingdom Hearts with the hearts released from the dead black mist of the Heartless. There was no other way. This plan, this objective of Mordred’s, simply will not do in no way, shape, or form. Xemnas closed his eyes and shook his head in disappointment. This man would have to bow in service to Xemnas and forget his foolish dreams of a “True Peace”. The Superior of the In-Between opened his eyes and set them upon the poor Mordred, he then outstretched his arms to the his left and right. Xemnas was going to impart more of his wisdom when suddenly, someone of familiarity showed up as well…
It was Vexen…but something was different. Xemnas watched as he bombarded into the room, pushing Mordred out of the way. Xemnas was a tiny bit surprised to see him. However, knowing full well that the death of one’s Heartless and Nobody can lead to the restoration of a being’s true form before he or she ever got his or her heart taken away. He knew of Vexen’s demise, so was the man before him once again Even? Xemnas rolled his eyes; knowing full well that Even was incompetent enough in Xemnas’s eyes to know that he might have indeed forgotten to place the information under lock and key. Xemnas sneered, disgusted by Even’s presence and outburst. However, Xemnas could use more to serve him anyway. He might as well have one that he is familiar with, especially when the being in question can be easily manipulated.
“You see, Mordred? The being you see before you? He has returned home to serve as well. Your plans are noble but far too short sighted. Join me, Servant of the In-Between. Rebuild my Kingdom Hearts and you will find the “True Peace” that you seek… Kingdom Hearts is a power far greater than you can imagine and it is well within its power to grant what you seek just as well… However, this can only be achieved if you join me…”

Mordred had to think of a way to get around this man. Unfortunately, Xemnas was blocking his way and Mordred had this uncanny feeling that the "Superior" was faster than he was. He'd have to come up with something that the other Nobody wouldn't be able to predict. That's when the other one burst in. Mordred was too distracted coming up with a plan to evade Xemnas to realize another presence closing in. Judging from what he learned from the computer and this new person's retort, this had to be Vexen. However, even Mordred could see that this Vexen was no longer a Nobody. As Vexen got closer to Mordred, he made to shoulder the non-Organization XIII member out of the way. Mordred, however, didn't necessarily feel like being too polite at the moment and decided to use his Kinetic Energy to provide a small, if subtle show of power. A small twist of his body there, a light twist in foot placement here and Mordred leaned an almost imperceptibly small distance away from Vexen. The result was that Mordred smoothly and almost without moving from his spot on the floor, dodged Vexen shouldering him away. It would merely be like he hit nothing but air, while Vexen would be allowed to move to his computer uninhibited by anyone in his way. Mordred looked over his shoulder at Vexen frantically trying to find the source of all his missing passwords. Mordred sighed. If this was the caliber of the higher echelons of the Organization, no wonder it was dismantled. Mordred, in a very rare display of pity, decided to help Vexen.
"Vexen, correct? Or is your name different now that you're a Somebody? I guess I underestimated the viability of Xemnas's Kingdom Hearts. Regardless, while I was going through your files, I think I found the source of your troubles." Mordred once again flagrantly used his powers in front of Xemnas and now Vexen and telekinetically tapped the keys on the keyboard, this time a much longer string than before. What was pulled up was... well, there was no other way to describe it other than a prank page. Apparently someone had gone to the trouble of vandalizing information about Vexen's experiments, writing various inflammatory insults about Vexen and his ego. The culprits would reveal themselves by faces drawn in a rather cartoon style, which made more insulting faces at the viewers presumably. Comparing the faces to the profiles Mordred found, he could only guess that the faces belonged to Xigbar and Axel. Xigbar's eyepatch was distinctive, as was Axel's mane of hair. "Pranksters in the Organization, no doubt. My statement still stands about passwords."
Mordred then turned to Xemnas and sighed as he spoke. Xemnas could've probably picked a less obviously moronic servant to extol the virtues of serving him. And his plan? Short-Sighted? Did Xemnas seriously not know how many years this plan took to concoct? How many scenarios Mordred went over before even giving this plan a shot? How many variables that Mordred had to account for and STILL had to account for? It was obvious to Mordred why Xemnas wanted to join him. He'd merely be another cog in the machine, to be disposed of when his use was completed. Such were the ways of those who deemed themselves above other beings. That much was transparently obvious. However, this did mean that Mordred was completely dismissive of the idea. Strategically speaking, Mordred needed as much information as possible of allies and enemies, potentially or otherwise. If Mordred did agree to this, he'd be able to keep an eye on those he may have to fight in the future. However, Mordred was also interested in this artificial Kingdom Hearts. That many Hearts gathered in one place... if that couldn't act as a Catalyst than any one of them could be a Catalyst. Such a thing would be incredibly beneficial to him. However, he'd need to gain more power before that time. Mordred stared at Xemnas and finally, he lowered his hood to him. His blonde hair was short and he looked like a young man, cold and stern as he adjusted his glasses.
"Hmph... Normally, I work alone and for good reason. Placing trust in others has a myriad ways of blowing up in one's face. However... I can't help but admit at wishing to see just how powerful your 'Kingdom Hearts' truly is. While I still do not wish to be a servant, as much as that so obviously disgusts you... I will accept an alliance and tithe what Hearts I reap towards your Kingdom Hearts. You will find that I am... quite efficient. Emotions... morals... my plans require both to be anathema to me. Sacrifices, as we both know, must be required for goals to be reached. And if you accept my alliance, then I'm definitely must request my leave now. Doing my work and yours will require a due diligence, no?" Mordred then decided to make his move. Mordred jumped up to the ceiling and using his mastery of Kinetic Energy, reoriented his body and adhered to it, as if gravity was meaningless to him. Mordred walked towards the door frame and jumped to it. He grabbed the frame and used it as leverage to jump to the floor, obeying the law of gravity once more as he landed on his feet. He pulled his hood back up. "With that, I take my leave. Farewell, O 'Superior' of Nobodies." Mordred then began walking down the hallway, though he feared that there was still more "business" to conduct.

The fact that Mordred barely moved registered with Even, but merely for a moment. As he tapped various keys, the insulting faces of members II and VIII came up, along with various insults and sloppy writings.
"Blast those fools!" Even slammed his fist onto the keyboard, face contorting into a sneer. "As if Xigbar and Axel hadn't tormented me enough!" Turning to face Xemnas and Mordred, he crossed his arms, green eyes narrowing at Xemnas.
"Returned home? Given how you banished us to Oblivion, I would hardly call this home. As for serving you..." The blonde huffed, arms falling to his side. "The only one worth serving is Master Ansem himself, not that you would know."
Turning to Mordred this time, looking the nobody over. "Even. That was... Is my name. Vexen merely existed. As for joining Xemnas, I would highly suggest against it."

Xemnas smiled and watched as Mordred pondered his sales pitch. Xemnas had many reasons for wanting Mordred to join, or rather ally with him. For one, a being with his caliber of power could prove useful. Xemnas would love to see Mordred do battle with the denizens of light, especially since Xemnas knows for a fact that they will be in the way and will serve as an insufferable hindrance to the goals that Xemnas and Mordred have set for themselves. Xemnas needed man power outside of the seekers of darkness simply due to the fact that Xemnas had his own agenda. Of course, he served Xehanort, however, with the power of Kingdom Hearts at his fingertips, he will be able to run the show. Xemnas would be able to control the worlds and the universe and form them into whatever he sees fit for it. He will have all the power he will ever need to do whatever he pleased. Nothing would be out of his grasp. He would crush Sora and the rest of the heroes of the realm of light, wherever they might arise. Xehanort and the seekers of darkness would serve him. Xemnas would be the most powerful being in the universe.
Xemnas also sought to see what exactly Mordred’s endeavor entailed. If this goal of his were to give him more power, Xemnas could definitely use it to his advantage. He might even be able to find something that he could use to power his Kingdom Hearts. Xemnas knew that there can be no True Peace unless a complete and total power forced for True Peace to exist. So, Xemnas wondered what goal could bring about such power that it could bring an end to the war between light and darkness. Mordred definitely had Xemnas’s attention in that regard. However, of course, his train of thought had been interrupted by the incompetent Vexen, who was now Even. Xemnas rolled his eyes when he spoke on how Xemnas would not make a great ally. Xemmas kept the smile on his face though and let Even finish. Xemnas was not at all surprised that Even decided not to rejoin him. He expected it, in fact. Xemnas knew that if one expects anything to happen, then one will never be surprised. This was the case with those who served him, however. Only a few of them were competent; Vexen was constantly messing up. He was constantly making mistakes. However, his dark soul soared when Mordred agreed to work with Xemnas.
“My soul soars to see that you have made the right choice, Mordred. I am pleased with this as well as I am excited to see what your “True Peace” entails.”, Xemnas said, with his arms stretched out to the sides of him. Xemnas smoothly moved out of the way to let his newfound ally walk through. Xemnas then turned to Even with a sad and disappointed disposition. Xemnas walked forward and folded his arms over his chest and cocked his head to the side, keeping his eyes upon the former Organization member. “Even, please, do not deprive dear Mordred of the pleasure of allying with me because you were simply unable to do your job. That is petty…and sad. I expected more from you, but the door is still open for you to come back and redeem yourself, for we are all here to serve the In-Between, even you…”

Mordred looked back at Vexen, or rather, Even as he told him to not ally with Xemnas. Mordred probably would have considered it were it not so advantageous for him. Well, and also if the person disagreeing with his course of action wasn't obviously a fool. Saying such things before someone of obviously superior power... clearly Even's newfound Heart had given him emotions too quickly, clouding his judgment. It was as Mordred had said, emotions were equally as damaging and consuming as the Darkness. Sure, Mordred didn't exactly mince words with Xemnas either but he was not a subordinate, either. Even should have known better than to quarrel with Xemnas so openly. Mordred silently agreed with Xemnas on how sad it was. Oh well. This was none of Mordred's concern, though this "Master Ansem" could be a person of interest. Surely, Mordred had to see what made this Ansem so worthy. Mordred donned his hood again and walked away from the Superior and his former subordinate, his footsteps echoing through the halls. The problem being having enough Hearts to sustain Eden and enough to tithe to Xemnas's Kingdom Hearts project was already something Mordred was wrestling with. He would have to find very populated worlds to deal with the issue. Annoying but not entirely unreasonable. He would just have to work harder to get results. Besides, it's not like he wasn't going to extract Hearts anyways. Mordred arrived at the elevator shaft and looked down at the platform far below him. He jumped and used the Kinetic Energy to get him to the platform. He landed with a loud thud, but was unharmed despite how far he had to fall. Mordred then followed the path towards the castle entrance, leaving the way he came. Once he crossed the bridge, Mordred looked back at the broken Kingdom Hearts hanging in the sky. Xemnas's and Mordred's goals, for however temporarily, coincided. Kingdom Hearts needed to be fixed. Then Mordred pluck it out of the sky and offer it to his own world. His own Eden. Then, the universe would know a True, Eternal Peace. Darkness sprang up and swallowed Mordred into its depths before disappearing back into the ground. Now it was just Xemnas and Even in the castle. -Mordred left this thread-

Xemnas let his newfound ally pass. He didn’t know where Mordred’s feet would take him exactly. However, Xemnas felt different about Mordred. He didn’t feel that he needed to watch Mordred much like he did with Organization XIII. Mordred’s mission was connected to his own; for him to go against Xemnas would mean for him to sit still and strike his goals from his mind, thereby putting to rest his own dreams. Xemnas smiled at Even spitefully, knowing full well that he would betray Mordred as soon as Mordred was able to collect enough hearts to help Xemnas achieve ultimate power by restoring Kingdom Hearts. Xemnas had no qualms about using whoever he needed however he needed to. Xemnas crossed his arms and stepped forward but he didn’t get too close. He looked Even in the eyes, feigning concern. A part of Xemnas had hoped that Even would rejoin him. Xemnas would have been able to show Even the error of his ways; he would have helped Even become a better person if Even would only let go of his pride and submit himself to being under Xemnas’s tutelage but it appeared that it would not be so. “Even, my soul weeps for you and your incompetence. I will now make it a point to pray every single moment that you would come to your senses and rejoin me. Together, we will go back, make note of what went wrong and thereby, make you a better being. In a show of good faith, I will leave to your notes and documents, but they are to be for your eyes and mine alone and no one else’s. If you disobey, you will be punished, my old friend. Perhaps, looking to your past mistakes will help you realize that you belong under my tutelage, it is the only way you can reach the competency you have always been destined to reach… Goodbye for now, old friend, and may our next meeting bring about your offer of fealty to me.”Xemnas then let darkness consume him slowly. Xemnas bowed to Even and disappear to attend to other business concerning his Kingdom Hearts. Xemnas would have his Kingdom Hearts and now that everything was falling into place, that dream became closer and closer to reality. -Xemnas has left this thread and this thread has now ended-
