"Gotta clear my head of anger and greed." The sand outside the coliseum was hot, scorched gold by the heat of the sun overhead. Even in the depths of universal winter, Greece's weather couldn't be deterred. Whether it was the blessings of the gods or something else entirely, Sora didn't know, but he did know that the weather wasn't going to be changing any time soon. Thankful for his short sleeves, Sora made his way through the gates and advanced into the vestibule, where the trophies he'd won from past games glittered in the torchlight. People strode by behind him as he studied the Phil Cup plaque, his gloved fingers affixed to his chin like little anchors dropped into the sea.
It looked a little scuffed. Sora reached for it (ignoring the "do not touch" sign) and rubbed at one of the scuff marks with his thumb. A few kids pointed and cheered on their way by, pleased to recognize their champion. The Junior Games would be underway before long, showcasing all the talents that the children of Greece were capable of. Sora was pretty excited to watch them — but more than that, he was excited to get some time with his best buddy. Riku would be there before long to get a glimpse of the event too, having been invited by Sora pretty much the instant he found out about their existence.
Truth be told, Sora didn't care as much about the kids as he did about spending time with Riku. The kids were all nice and they were all nice to him, and he'd be super happy to see them all try their hearts out, but at the end of the day, they weren't what he was there for. He was supposed to be getting all of his powers back, and though he'd encountered a little bit of success with that so far, he still had a long way to go before he was back in top shape. He was kinda hoping that spending some time with Riku would let a little bit of the older boy's mastery rub off on him.
He would've never admitted to that, though.
The other thing was — and Sora was one to openly admit it — Riku was his best friend. There was no activity he could think of doing that wouldn't have been improved by the other boy's presence. Sure, some people thought Riku was gloomy, but they just didn't know him well enough!
Placing the Phil Cup back in its place on the shelf, Sora strode into the stadium and took a hard left toward the market stalls that were waiting for the customers flooding in. Dozens of spectators were already in their seats, waiting with bags full of popcorn for the games to begin. The tournament ring in the center of the coliseum proper was still empty, but sixteen or so kids and teenagers (not much younger than Sora himself) were waiting to take their place in the history books. Together, they gathered around a small, plump looking satyr, who was coaching them enthusiastically on their upcoming performance.
Sora took a few minutes to purchase two bags of popcorn (one for him, one for Riku) and took his position in the stands. He left Riku's bag of popcorn in the other boy's seat, saving it for him while Sora continued munching enthusiastically on his snack. The Games were set to begin in a few minutes.
Hopefully, Riku got his invitation.

The sun beating down on the coliseum's entrance was beginning to make Riku sweat as he made his way towards the grand entrance. The young Master had always liked this world. It had caused him to take quite a shine to Greek architecture. That being the case, however, he normally wouldn't come here of his own accord. Not without a specific goal in mind anyway. He was here today because he was invited by his best friend, Sora. They were going to watch the Junior Games, apparently. While Riku normally couldn't care less about some kids clumsily swinging little swords at each other, he'd still get to hang out with his friend.
That was what he wanted to do the most. He and Sora were normally busy saving the worlds and things related to that, so they hadn't really gotten a chance to truly hang out and do an activity together in quite some time. Making his way through the door and into the vestibule, he next moved into the arena. He saw the kids all gathered, of course, as well as a series of stalls selling various foods and souvenirs. His goal was the stands, however. Scanning the crowd for Sora, his eyes eventually found the boy. A grin forming on his face, he pushed past the people and took a seat next to his friend, being sure to grab the popcorn before he sat down.
Popping one of the salty, buttery pieces into his mouth, he kicked back casually greeted Sora. "Read my mind." He said, referring to the popcorn. "Thanks." Popping another kernel in his mouth, he looked over to the other boy. "So, the Junior Games, huh? Think we'll see any good fights?"

"Gotta clear my head of anger and greed." Sora offered Riku a jovial wave as the older boy waded through the crowd and clambered up into the stands. Riku stood out like a sore thumb; he was, after all, one of maybe two dozen people not wearing robes. While the older boy sat down beside him, Sora turned his eyes to the children gathering around the arena, absentmindedly munching his popcorn while he considered Riku's question. He wasn't really sure what the kids were capable of, but they were clearly all there for a reason. A few of them were decked out in armor, with big, dulled blades affixed to their hips. Others were wearing simple robes, apparently betting on talents other than brute force. If it were him, he would've put money on one of the scrawny kids. Sora knew from experience that being smaller didn't mean you fought like it. He thought back to Tidus, who he hadn't seen in years, and couldn't escape the thought that Tidus would've mopped the floor with the lot of them. In fact, Wakka could've probably swept 'em all too. Swallowing back a mouthful of popcorn, Sora gestured toward the ring. "I'm not sure, but those kids aren't gonna play fair in there," Sora said. "I know better than anyone that kids don't fight fair."He was, of course, referencing the time that Wakka replaced his blitzball with a coconut for a quick laugh. Sora rubbed at the back of his head, unable to escape both the fondness and the sheer betrayal of the memory. It was a conflicting experience — but he would've loved to see Wakka again. He hadn't seen him, Selphie, or Tidus in... well, two years. It was strange to think how far away they were, but how close they were at the same time. In theory, he could go back home whenever he wanted. Somehow, though, he rarely found reason to. "Do you remember that one time you drop-kicked me into the ocean?" Sora asked, turning to Riku and looking him in the eyes as if it had really only happened one time. He couldn't help the goofy grin that spread across his face. "Y'know, you'd be a good coach, I bet. Next time they do one of these things, we should each coach somebody."While Sora studied Riku's reaction, one child, clad entirely in black, approached the others. Thick, carbon colored robes obscured his skin, and two, golden lights poked out from the darkness that hid his face away from the others. The Satyr welcomed him in as a late participant, ushering him to take his place as one of the event's many competitors. The games, it appeared, were just about to begin. The first event, if Sora's memory could be trusted, was a simple tournament, which would be followed by a free for all melee. It was definitely gonna be a spectacle. At least, all of the cheering parents in the stands around them definitely thought so. "It could be fun!"MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRPHY 2.0

At the mention that kids don't fight fair, Riku couldn't help but chuckle. "I don't know about you, but I always fought fair." This, of course, wasn't true and he boy knew it. His tone even indicated that he knew this and it was more of a joke. He had an incredibly competitive spirit and it was even stronger when he was a child. He hated losing, especially back then, and he wasn't above fighting dirty to make sure he won. Sora especially knew that, as most of those times were against him. The others were well below Riku's skill level. He even remembered a time when he took on Tidus, Wakka, and Selphie all at the same time!
It was a fairly brisk battle, but he managed to pull out a win fairly easily. Speaking of his spars with Sora, the younger boy brought up the time Riku drop kicked him into the ocean. In actuality, it happened more than once.In fact, that was his favorite finishing move when they fought on that little island right off the shore. "Yeah, I remember. It was always my favorite way to finish our fights." He paused to give what he said next a little bit more impact. "...and judging by how many times i've won our little brawls, i'd say i've done that to you more than once." He joked, lightly nudging Sora with his shoulder.
The mention of them coaching someone during the next Junior Games interested him, though. He couldn't help but feel like it would be a battle by proxy. Yet another challenge the two were aiming to best each other at. While their rivalry hadn't been quite as intense since they had gone in their journey, Riku's competitive nature wouldn't let it die completely. "You're on, Sora. Next time, we'll talk to Phil about letting us each coach one of the kids." He smiled at Sora. "It wouldn't be a real contest without a wager, though. What've you got to bet?" Riku's tell-tale grin spread across his face. The same one he wore every time he issued Sora a challenge.

"Gotta clear my head of anger and greed." Sora playfully cleared his throat when Riku referenced the dropkicks as his favorite finishing move, but he inevitably careened toward a downright chuckle when Riku nudged him. He still remembered the sea salt clinging to his hair like dandruff, and the time he'd come out with a starfish attached to his face was a particularly good memory. He'd used it to scare Tidus on his way back to Riku, acting like some kind of ocean zombie. Tidus didn't fall for it for a second, but that didn't make it any less funny. More than anything, it was awesome to know that Riku still remembered. No matter how far away they got from each other, it was the simple things that bound them together. That, he figured, was the mark of a best friend. Commonality despite all difference. Wiping a tear from his eye as Riku considered the offer to coach someone in the Junior Games, Sora turned his eyes to the satyr dancing around the ring. His "students" were just starting to take their places, with the first two about to square off. The crowd clapped politely for the first two boys, neither of which clad in armor, and watched as they circled each other for a solid minute. His gaze flickered back to Riku while the kids squared off, only paying them half of his attention. Much to Sora's delight, his best buddy accepted his proposition, which meant that they were totally gonna be there for the next Junior Games too. Sora held back the urge to cheer while Riku continued, broaching the subject of a potential wager. Almost immediately, the youth's hands flocked to his pockets, turning them inside and out. He didn't really have anything to bet with, not on him at least — but an idea came to him almost immediately, striking through the cloud of uncertainty in his head. He couldn't and didn't bother to hide the wide smile that spread across his face. "I got it," he proudly announced, holding up a finger. He had just the thing! "There's this place called Atlantica. If you win, I've got two tickets to a musical there with your name on 'em!"Did Riku even like musicals? Man, Sora sucked at betting. Still, that cheesy smile persisted, anchored to his face like a ship parked in the center of the sea. Admittedly, he couldn't imagine Riku going to a musical... but if anything, it was the travel that would excite him more. Riku always was a wanderer, willing to go as far as his legs (or fins, if he actually took Sora up on it) would take him. Even so, Atlantica was kind of a strange place, and the idea of Riku as a merman was a little weird. Hopefully, the extra ticket would balance things out. "They've got all kinds of cool stuff there," Sora insisted. Conspiratorially, he leaned in a little, letting his elbows rest on his knees. "Unless you can think of something better?"In the ring, the first match came to a close. Kid B ran an enthusiastic victory lap around the stage, having literally dragged his opponent kicking and screaming over the edge for the ring out. In his place, the kid shrouded in darkness advanced, moving through the other competitors to take his place in the dead center of the fighting arena. A pretty large, well armored teenager took the spot opposite him, his blunted blade large and heavy. It wouldn't kill if it hit, but it was definitely gonna hurt. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRPHY 2.0

Riku blinked when Sora offered him tickets to a musical in a place called "Atlantica" as his wager. Riku had never been to the place before, but he really wasn't one for musicals. Plays in general, really. He liked a good movie on occasion, but live theater just wasn't his thing. Still, with Sora around, it might be fun. "Okay, that sounds good to me. Only if you come along with me, of course." Then the silver-haired teen thought for a moment about his own bet. He really didn't have much worth giving. He thought back to his time in Twilight Town, however. Back when he was still working with Ansem the Wise. On occasion, he'd stop by the ice cream stand and pick up some sea salt ice cream for the two of them.
He wondered if Sora ever got the chance to try it. If not, it would be the perfect wager. "Okay, how about this; if your kid wins, we'll go to Twilight Town and get some sea salt ice cream. As much as you want. My treat." He offered Sora his hand to seal the deal with a handshake. After, he would turn his attention back to the fight, chuckling slightly and shaking his head when he saw how it turned out, once kid dragging his opponent kicking and screaming out of the ring for a ring out. That was one way to win a fight, he supposed. It wasn't entirely about who was strongest and who could beat their opponent into submission.
The young Master's smile faded though when he saw the kid from earlier take his place in the center of the ring. He had a strange aura about him. One that made Riku uncomfortable... and this stench... it was clearly one of darkness. Riku scrunched up his nose. It stank like rotting garbage. A most unpleasant aroma. Turning his head towards Sora, he spoke again. "Hey... is it just me or does this kid give you a weird feeling too?" He pointed towards the kid that was shrouded in darkness as his opponent, a kid in heavy armor, came up to meet him.

"Gotta clear my head of anger and greed." Sora shook Riku's hand, filled with enthusiasm and vigor to spare. Honestly, he was willing to go get ice cream with Riku even if he won. That wasn't worth mentioning, though, especially if Riku was offering to pay! Smiling like a total dork, Sora sealed their deal with a solemn nod. He was pretty confident in his choice. He'd always been an excellent judge of character. Besides that, he was pretty sure that, as the champion of the real games, he was more than qualified to pick a winner for the Junior Games."Sounds good," he said, turning his attention back to the ring.It was then that Riku drew attention to the kid in the cloak. Sora squinted, leaning forward in his seat a little. The kid looked a little ansty; his hands were all over the place, and his eyes kept jittering back and forth, as if shakily examining the entirety of its surroundings. By contrast, the burly lookin' kid in the armor was the picture of confidence. Was it possible that the kid in the cloak was tapping into the darkness somehow? Riku was definitely right; there was something off about the kid. The shadow cast over his face by the cloak was a little too dark and his eyes a little too gold. Beyond that, Sora could sense a strange power emanating from the boy's heart, devouring whatever light might've lurked within him."Yeah," Sora said, a little reluctantly. "Something's off about him."The keybearer's fingers slowly clenched into fists. He felt pretty sure that whoever that kid was, he was trifling with something he didn't need to be. Still, he couldn't just jump in, could he? For one thing, Phil would've killed him... and for another thing, he didn't wanna just beat down an innocent kid.It wasn't long before his conundrum was solved for him. The fight began and the crowd let out a wild cheer... but the boy shrouded in darkness didn't flinch. His opponent surged forward, slashing wildly at his more diminutive foe. Each blow hit home, crumpling the boy's cloak and forcing him to his knees. For a second, it looked like the battle was over just as quickly as it began. For a second, anyway. In a flash, a writhing mass of darkness leapt from the depths of the cloak and sprang free on the armored boy — revealing a single, clunky looking Soldier. Sora rose to his feet and extended his left hand, summoning the Kingdom Key in a flash of brilliant light."We've gotta do something," he said, leaping down from his place in the stands. He knew Riku wouldn't be far behind. His boots hadn't yet touched the sand when five more Soldiers broke free of their disguises in the crowd. Bystanders screamed and shouted, drawing the attention of the tournament competitors, who were now looking thoroughly frightened. Sora turned, torn between helping the crowd and helping the kid in the ring.MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRPHY 2.0

Riku kept his eyes on the kid. He seemed to be full of nervous energy. One might attribute this to the coming fight, but Riku knew better. This wasn't general nervousness. This was different. When the battle began, the silver-haired teen got a bad feeling in the pit of his stomach. The dark kid's larger opponent was beating him down mercilessly, but the Master knew that he was far from beaten if what he felt was accurate... and due to Sora's confirmation, he knew that it was. Sure enough, his suspicion was confirmed a mass of darkness leaped from the cloak, revealing a single Soldier Heartless. "Damn...!"
The young Keyblade wielder stood from his seat, calling Way to the Dawn to his hand. Setting his popcorn down in his seat, Riku moved to follow Sora down into the ring. He stopped in his tracks, however when he noticed that several people in the crowd shed their disguises, revealing themselves to be Heartless as well. He looked down into the ring and saw Sora torn between saving the contestants or the people in the crowd. "You take care of things down there! I can handle these guys!" With that said, Riku turned his attention to the situation at hand. Two Soldiers had managed to corner a mother and her two small children, so that was where he would be going first.
Riku leaped over the fleeing crowd, the young Master landing between the Soldiers and their quarry, holding his Keyblade out defensively. "Why don't you pick on someone who can defend themselves?" He narrowed his eyes at the little black, armored creature before glancing behind him at the mom and her kids. "Get out of here." He jerked his head towards the exit. The mother looked unsure for a moment, but eventually thanked Riku before running to safety. His focus now solely on the two Soldiers, he slipped into his classic battle stance. Both of the Heartless seemed to hesitate for a moment, but they both eventually lunged in his direction.
The silver-haired teen reacted quickly, dodging one of the Soldiers and smacking the other one he smacked in the face with Way to the Dawn before following up with a flurry of stabs that reduced it to nothing. Riku then clenched his free fist, charging up a ball of dark fire. Once the Soldier was taken care of, Riku turned towards the one he dodged. "Yaaah!" He aimed an outstretched palm at the Heartless, three great balls of flame firing from his palm and colliding with the Soldier Heartless, tearing through it with ease.

"Gotta clear my head of anger and greed." "Got it!" Sora was grateful when Riku took command of the situation. Nodding and clenching a fist resolutely over his chest, the brown haired hero set off toward the ring. It took him only half a second to vault over the ring's side and scramble up to full height, leaving him on the pouncing Soldier's left side. The beast was on top of his foe, claws digging deep into the young man's thick armor. Every blow left trenches in the metal where mere scratches should've been, forcing the youth to drop his weapon as a fresh spray of blood bloomed from the holes in his breastplate. The boy's weapon fell to the ring floor beside him as he shrunk back, giving in to the dark beast that now threatened to consume his heart... but Sora leapt forward just in the nick of time, burying a sweeping strike in the Soldier's hip and knocking it off balance. It stumbled backward and fell flat on it's rear, giving Sora the opening he needed to whack it upside the head with the flat of the Kingdom Key's shaft. The clang of steel colliding with steel rang free as the monster was laid flat, its fading body reduced to a heap of withering black wisps.Sora turned and helped the wounded boy to his feet, pulling him up with one hand while his eyes scanned the stands. There were still Soldiers everywhere... he was gonna have to trust Riku to get one side while he got the other. Was he fast enough to save everybody, though?Pushing doubt out of his mind, Sora herded the armored youth to the edge of the ring and pushed him toward his friends."Go, hurry! Get as many people out as you can... we'll handle these goons," he said, jerking a thumb over his shoulder at Riku. A vicious btoom, like a warcry, bled across the battlefield as the older keybearer tore through his first two Soldiers, inspiring the armored boy with the confidence he needed to get moving.Sora didn't waste another second; he turned toward the stands across from his old seat and dashed out of the ring, clearing the distance between the marble and the stone facade of the bleachers without effort. A soldier turned to greet him, its golden eyes drawn to the light shimmering off the Kingdom Key's shaft, and paused."Hey! My eyes are up here!" The brunette took one brave step forward, hurling the Kingdom Key through the air like a frisbee at the Soldier's head. It dodged left and Sora grinned, lifting his right hand to call the weapon back. The satisfying thunk of recoil sounded like a gong as his Keyblade bounced off the Heartless's head on the comeback, knocking it to the floor. While his weapon twirled upward into the air, the keybearer extended his off-hand and a flechet of brilliant, glistering lightning surged from the ends of his fingers to consume the downed Soldier whole. Rivulets of dying sparks lingered in the spot where the monster's corpse should've been, beating away the dying wisps of black darkness that served as its remains."That's two! Nice!" Summoning the Kingdom Key back to his hand, Sora once again examined his side of the stands... Two more Soldiers to go through. He couldn't imagine Riku had many more left, but that wasn't really the worry. Where there was smoke, there was fire... the Soldiers were attacking for a reason, emboldened by something else. It was just a matter of time before it revealed itself.Hopeful that Riku realized the same thing, Sora threw himself into the fray, spinning and twirling around escaping members of the peanut gallery. As Riku took out his second Soldier, he looked over near Sora. He had taken out two of the Soldiers on his side already. He looked ahead to the three on his side that had stopped pursuing the fleeing spectators and instead focused on Riku now that he had taken out two of their allies. Stepping forward, Riku held his blade out defensively. "Yeah, that's right. Your fight is with me." In an instant, all three Soldiers lunged at Riku, claws outstretched, ready to tear him apart. They didn't know who they were messing with, however. Quickly, he pivoted to the side to dodge the middle and right heartless, while blocking the left one with the flat of his blade.
He kicked it back, knocking it away from him just far enough to recover his footing and counterattack with two quick strikes to the head, denting the creature's helmet before finishing it by jumping into the air and over the Soldier, delivering a sweeping strike to its head, then landing behind it and cleaving it in half at the waist with a single strike. The young Master wasn't done yet, however. As he finished the first Soldier, he ran through the black smoke rising up into the air and towards the other two. He had a perfect idea to take out two of them all at the same time.
Running past the two Heartless, he leaped into the air, landing on the far wall of the arena with his feet before pushing off, rocketing towards the two remaining enemies. He flipped to an upright position before raising Way to the Dawn to the sky. As he fell, he let out another battle cry before landing, slamming his blade into the ground between the two Heartless, generating a powerful shockwave that decimated the Soldiers instantly. "Phew." Riku slicked his hair back as he looked around. Riku had dealt with his side, now it was up to Sora to deal with his two remaining enemies.
Riku began to think, though. This appeared to be a coordinated attack. Heartless that acted together, working towards a goal, tended to be rallied by an even stronger force. In that case, where was it...?

"Gotta clear my head of anger and greed." Members of the crowd fled toward the arena entrance while Sora tried desperately to wriggle around them. There weren't all that many left, but their sheer panic made it hard to avoid them all without either bumping into someone or knocking someone further down into the stands. By the time he finally made it through the stream of panicked patrons, the two Soldiers he'd been chasing had managed to corner a young looking child against a bleacher. The boy cried out and raised his hands to defend himself from an incoming claw strike — that never came. Six, furious blows dented into the Soldier's armor as Sora stood to full height on the other side of the Heartless, the Kingdom Key slung over his shoulder like a club. The Soldier crumpled and fell, dissipating into a pool of wavering darkness as Sora extended his hand to the downed child. The little boy took his hand without question, a stunned look struck on his face, and looked up at his new hero. Sora offered the kid a playful grin and ruffled his hair while the sole remaining Soldier considered its options. In the end, above all else, the Heartless were creatures of instinct. It lashed out at the keybearer with its sharpened claws, hoping to sink them deep into Sora's cherubic cheeks. The youth stepped hard to the left, letting the monster slide right by him, and cut a stripe down its back with the Kingdom Key's teeth. Light teemed from the wound as it fell to a knee, leaving it wide open for the brunette to finish off with a wild, overhead strike. The kid beside him was absolutely starstruck, unable to speak as Sora turned back to face him and knelt down. The kid didn't even come up to his navel when they were both standing, but it was clear, even to Sora, that he had plenty of time to grow."Hey, lil guy," he said, resting an elbow on his knee. "You should go find your parents, okay? They're probably worried sick."The kid nodded, gave Sora a brief hug, and dashed off toward the main entryway. With that taken care of, the keybearer, Kingdom Key still slung over his shoulder, made his way over to the other side of the arena to join back up with Riku. Though they'd dealt with the Soldiers, there had to be something else still hanging around, waiting for them to lower their guard. Sora, noticing that Riku's side of things was pretty well and cleaned up, nodded amicably towards his friend. Even if the fight wasn't over, they still had a little bit of a reprieve. He was gonna make the most of it and see if they were on the same page."Good work," he said, sounding pretty pleased with how quickly they managed to handle things. Still, apprehension crept slowly into his words. "I think everybody's out safe, but... does this feel too easy, to you? I mean, four little guys, that's not bad. Usually, if I'm around, there's a lot more than just that to deal with."Loose tracts of sand began to jitter and hop in the arena's center, displaced by a rumbling deep beneath the marble. Sora didn't react, unable to really feel the disturbance — until it picked up in intensity, rocking the entire coliseum and stumbling the brunette. Sora let out a groan as he pitched forward, barely catching himself with his left hand. Just as things settled, a third and final shake rocked the foundations of the city. Sora fell forward... and a massive, mole looking Heartless burst out from the arena's heart. Two, gargantuan drills whirred where claws should've been, and a third took the place of its snout. Glittering, golden eyes bore down on the two boys as the beast waved its arms around menacingly, punching at the sand around it and kicking up waves of the substance without regard for its surroundings. Sora, clambering to his feet, frowned. Twirling the Kingdom Key in his hand, he examined the thing for hardly a second before innocently voicing the wry thought that he was sure Riku must've been holding onto."That's more like it."

Riku looked over at Sora as he finished off his final enemy. Taking a moment to scan the surrounding area, it appeared all the innocent people had managed to escape. That was good. Now the young Master could face whatever was coming without being concerned about the civilians being caught in the crossfire... and something was coming. He just knew it. The silver-haired boy's best friend coming up and congratulating him on a job well done snapped him out of his hyper-aware state. He turned to Sora and smiled at him, giving the other boy a thumbs up. It seemed he, too, thought there was something wrong about this whole situation.
"Yeah, serves me right for going somewhere with you." Riku joked, nudging Sora to let him know he was just kidding. "But yeah, I get what you mean. This was a very coordinated attack too. Something like this typically doesn't happen unless--" Riku was then interrupted by the supposed coordinator of this attack. As the ground began to shake, Riku tried his best to remain upright, preparing himself for battle. Once the massive Heartless deigned to show itself, a big grin found its way onto Riku's face. The boy echoed Sora's sentiment with a firm nod.
"Yeah, looks like we'll finally get to stretch our legs for a bit. Hope you don't mind if I take first crack, Sora." Taking up his battle stance, the young Master lunged forward towards his target, a powerful dark energy surrounding him as he collided with the mole heartless' massive form in a Dark Surge before leaping into the air, crashing down on top of the enemy's head, using his Dark Break to deliver a powerful slash with his blade before landing on the ground, preparing to follow up with Sora.

"Gotta clear my head of anger and greed." "By all means," Sora chuckled, patting Riku on the back. "Go first. We'll save the best for last."He couldn't resist the urge to get one last playful jab in, and as Riku dashed forward fearlessly into battle, the brown haired youth couldn't stop a grin from spreading across his face. It was good to have his friend back again, whether they were fighting some dark monster from the depths of space or just hanging out together. While some thought the two of them strange, he couldn't help but feel like the sky over Riku's head, filled with a vault of stars that sprinkled a little extra light on the world below. At least, that was kinda how he pictured it. They probably worked a little more evenly than that, and as Riku laid into the mole creature before him, even Sora knew he would've had to admit that fact. Riku was one of the strongest guys he knew, and even though he'd won the last time they fought, it wasn't by a big margin.More important was exactly how much Riku had improved in the last few years. Together, they'd gone from two kids play fighting on an island to heroes. Sora even had a constellation in his image, which was something he was gonna need to bring up after they finished thrashing the mole Heartless.Riku's attacks definitely left a mark on the thing; it howled and tunneled deep into the dirt as the older boy withdrew. Sora, eager to keep the thing from getting away, hurled himself like a comet in the direction of the beast's trail. He followed it to the arena's southern bleachers, where it exploded up out of the ground with a deafening krakoom that shook the world around him.Sora covered one ear and laid into the beast with everything he had, practically tanning stripes into the monster's pelt with his keyblade... only to punctuate his particularly vicious combination with a wild series of explosions that caused as much collateral damage as they did damage to the creature. Rocky shrapnel nebulized in the air around him, creating a cloud of dust that spread like a blanket over the bleachers. Before he could hoot or holler about his success, a large, spinning claw drilled him in the chest and sent him flying backward through the cloud. He tumbled orteils sur tête across the sandy floor of the arena proper and landed flat on his stomach a few meters away. Coughing up sand, dust, and debris, Sora clambered to his feet."Ugh, that was rough... hey, lookout!"A massive drill carved through the sand and went spiraling after Riku. Sora, caught up in the moment, didn't notice the one headed straight for him — at least, until it caught him in the chest and knocked him straight into the marble wall on the other side of the arena.MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRPHY 2.0

Riku smirked as his onslaught caused the Mole to retreat into the ground. "C'mon, is that the best you can do?" He taunted the creature as it burrowed into the ground. The wielder was careful not to get too cocky, however. He succeeded in pressing the thing momentarily, but it was likely preparing for a counterattack. He was going to hang back for a second, but Sora had other ideas. He rushed in, aiming to chase the Heartless before it could escape. "Sora, don't just charge in there!" Riku warned. It was no use, though. Sora was always gung-ho about these sorts of things and when he decided to rush in, there was no stopping him.
While the silver-haired Master would admit that Sora got him good, it wasn't good enough. The other boy's onslaught generated a rather impressive dust cloud, but this creature was quite powerful indeed, a drill-hand emerging from the dust to strike the younger wielder in the chest. Riku kept an eye on his friend for a moment to make sure he was okay. Sure enough, he managed to rise to his feet. It would take a lot more than that for Sora to be taken down. There was no time to think on a strategy, however, as Riku's friend warned him about the claw headed his way. Thanks to Sora's timely warning, Riku managed to turn towards the source of the attack and raise his defenses to mitigate some of the damage.
Still, the steel claw collided with the teen's midsection. Riku felt his shoulder pop with the magnitude of the blow as he was sent flying several yards into the center of the arena, landing on his back on the cold stone. The boy leaped to his feet with all quickness, holding his blade between him and the creature with an irritated scowl on his face. "I've had just about enough of you, you overgrown mole freak." The apoplectic Keyblade Master wound back his arm, Way to the Dawn bursting with a shadowy dark energy before the teen let out a roar, throwing his weapon right at the Heartless' face striking it right between the eyes with his Dark Raid and stunning it briefly before calling his Keyblade back to his hand and running over to Sora.
Riku would help his friend up, chuckling breathlessly. "He's stubborn. Not too tough though." He looked over at the Mole. "I've got a plan. You just keep doing what you do best. Lure him into the center of the ring and i'll give him a thrashing he'll never forget." With that, Riku ran over to the bleachers to the west, waiting for Sora to play his part in the older boy's plan. Hopefully he decided to go along with it.
