Dagger was just sitting there being lonely after the last battle with Necron and she had became queen. Garnet was just worried that she wouldn't see the one that she had loved over the time that they were together. Her heart hurt for missing Zidane, so much that she wasn't able to smile for a while. Then Tantalus was doing a play once more and the guy in the cloak she had a feeling its the one she was waiting for. Garnet had left her seat and wanted to go to him. Steiner and Beatrix had held the door open for her. She was happy about this of course. He's back here he came home to me. I am so happy that he's here he kept the promise that he came back to me. He is the only one that I do love. For any case the Melodies of Life is my and Zidane's song. I don't want any other man in my life. Garnet thought. Garnet had enjoyed being by his side through it all and when she had finally came towards him she had hit his shoulder for making her worry about him. Dagger had put her feelings into that hit.
She had hugged him while he was hugging her and she had felt such peace in his arms. Garnet hadn't thought that he would be here until she saw I wanna be your canary once more and had a feeling that was him. This moment wasn't meaningless and she was truly happy right here. She had gave him her first kiss and after all they been through she had wanted to tell him all her feelings she was mad at most times, but she hidden her love for him until this moment. Garnet hadn't wanted him to leave her not this time.
"Don't leave me not this time and the song I had always sing is our song. I wanted to share that song with you since the first time you heard it. We need to talk about our feelings and I do hope you would stay within my reach this time. Don't leave me behind not anymore. I was considering to move on, but I'm happy you are here alive and in my arms. You have no idea how much I had missed you. You gonna stay right?" Garnet said. She had been saying what she has been feeling.

I want to...
Months Prior --
He felt like a heel. He had been gone so long, but with so many things unfinished he couldn't face her until he could face himself again. Seeing the edge of the world and the utter darkness that awaited those who had nothing to love for was a humbling experience. The rouge had did what he could for Kuja, for the Mages and Genomes, but in the end everyone had their own path to follow, even if that path meant returning to the Crystal. After it all Zidane didn't even have time to mourn Vivi. Not that the little guy would have wanted him to, but Zidane couldn't help but feel he was disrespecting his memory if he didn't even shed a tear. As he stood crouched over his grave he couldn't find the strength to. For hours he had sat there just staring at the familiar, tattered hat rest on the post. Eventually he had fallen asleep there.
He dreamed a dream, something he hadn't really done since his youth. Instead of that painful, bright blue light it was an angry red. Just sitting outside of his reach was a crystal, but it was unlike those he had seen Dagger and Eiko use to draw their summons from or the Crystal herself that life drew it's breathe from. When he finally reached it he pulled it to his chest. A soft crying could be heard, soft shuffling in his arms. When he looked down --
“There you are you sack of shit.” The cross tone has startled him from his sleep, dirt smeared across his face.
He felt a rough grip pull around his jabot and ribbon, lifting his body off the ground with ease. Zidane sneered, pulling his lip over his small, fanged teeth, his canines slightly more prominent than the brooding stitch-faced bastard in front of him his gloved hands wrapped around the hand that was nearly at his throat. His blue eyes drifted up and took notice of the fist held over his face. His body became limp, putting extra weight and forcing Blank to grip more tightly. Zidane turned his dirty face, waiting for the blow.
“Are you just going to give up, Zid?” Marcus’ voice carried from.over the hill. He stepped into view, carrying over his shoulder a few planks of wood.
It seemed Tantalus had arrived to help add a few huts to the growing village. But there was more to their altruistic endeavors. No one was sure what was said, but there was a lot of shouting coming from the Chocobo Hut where Baku had dragged Zidane for a talk.
-- Months Later
The rouge slowly released the Queen from her hug, the sound of applause almost deafening. Someone's sure as heck been spreading rumors. “That hurt…” Zidane complained at the punches, smirking weakly.
His voice was heavy, face not as aglow as it was at the start of their adventure. He was tired. His eyes were bright, glittering with that unnatural glimmer, but he was tired. His gloved hands remained on her arms even as they parted slightly. Garnet… Dagger? Ah he wasn't sure how to address her now that their adventure had come to an end… She spoke with such conviction, such worry. As she base to him that question his jaws out part, his trademark grin lighting up from beneath his tired mask. He exhaled and found himself unable to speak. As much as he wanted to stay… she knew he couldn't. No matter how strong his love for her it was just a play.
...the pauper never got his princess.
Zidane stayed smiling and pulled her into a hug again, holding her tighter. He could not speak, so he showed her with his body what he felt. But perhaps even than his trepidation could be felt. There was no question he loved her, he came back, but what now? Couldn't this last forever? She would.soon feel his hand brushing against the back of her head as he collected his thoughts and looked for an excuse, a diversion.
“Well I don't know, how about you take me to dinner first, and we'll see from there.” There was that cheeky, smartassed rogue everyone knew and few loved.
Maybe a quiet place would do them good!
