Reward Type: Equipment/Summon
Cost 350 Munny (Ship, Summon)
Location: Bottom, under Limit Break
Reward: Fimbulwinter
One of the two sister ships of Ragnarok that lifted Adel's tomb to orbit and was subsequently lost. Fimbulwinter is enormous compared to most ships used by travelers, being 108 meters in length, 77 meters across, and nearly fifty meters tall from landing gear to the highest fin. This makes landing in many locations impractical, but the ship can support itself in atmosphere with the use of retro-jets and does not need to land for pickups and drop offs. Gyun awakened in the sleeping ship deep in the darkness between worlds when the Archipelago resurfaced from its sleeping state. It took quite a large amount of work and many sleepless hours reading manuals and surviving on definitely out of date emergency rations to find a way to point the ship back home. Traveling without the aid of gummi parts is quite dangerous, and the ship did not survive the journey intact. Fimbulwinter was, barely, successfully landed on the shore of an island just off the coast of the Balamb continent.
Neither caring about the cultural significance of the ship or having a desire to risk having it taken away, Gyun has spent many hours repairing and refitting the ship, repairing its mounted guns and waldos under the nosecone. Time was also spent retrofitting the ship for single pilot use, as well as updating the chassis, fuel, navigation and ammunition systems with gummi components. Not being decidedly well versed in gummi technology, this resulted in Fimbulwinter now being a temperamental ship at best, difficult to fly without a deep understanding of its unique idiosyncrasies. This makes full performance difficult to achieve, as while a single pilot can now manage all the ship's systems, coordination between multiple crew members is required to bring out Fimbulwinter's maximum performance.
The Frankensteined ship is capable of in atmosphere function and space flight, and arguably competent travel in lanes. Lane combat is a chore with Fimbulwinter, as it was designed for sub-orbital conflicts and sports LIDAR rather than RADAR, requiring low intensity pulses from the same system as its secondary armaments to determine enemy and object positions. Space combat fares a bit better. Due to power requirements, Fimbulwinter's main armament is difficult to the use to the point of impracticality in atmosphere due to the enormous drain required to fire a plasma cannon and remain airborne, even with jury rigged gummi power. The ship must aim and remain perfectly still for half a minute in order to build the reserves to fire its main cannon, at which point the majority of targets will have moved out of scope. The ship does have smaller laser barrels as secondary armaments, however.
Fimbulwinter has been equipped with excellent auto-navigational systems and can both land itself and bring itself to specific requested points for pickup and drop off, returning itself to a geosynchronous orbit if necessary in order to help preserve secrecy, as that's apparently a thing we're all still supposed to be doing.
Summoned
Fimbulwinter is capable of doing an autonomous attack run in an emergency, and has two modes of attack, 152mm Multi-barreled Laser and 609mm Charged Particle Cannon, and can do either but not both once per thread.
152mm Multi-barreled Laser can be called in immediately and deals one light and fire aspect damage to all exposed foes.
609mm Charged Particle Cannon activates in two phases, targeting, where it determines an attack position and begins to charge, and firing, where it deals three non-elemental damage to all targets in the predetermined vector regardless of cover on the proceeding round.
