Chronos continued to listen, leaning forward in his chair a bit, tail thumping against his chair as it twitched from side to side. All of this seemed like it could have been made up by the kid, but since Chronos had seen the Echo, it was for certain that all of this had happened and Nick was able to get his parents out of there. They wouldn't be here, had he not succeeded, so yeah... Kinda takes the climatic final out of the story, but he rather hear a good ending than a bad one in these kinds of stories. He swayed the cup in his hand slightly as he continued to listen. So that's when the gauntlet activated itself and saved his butt. Good thing he found it earlier, or he would have been eaten that day in that strange world. Could be pure ducking luck, or this kid had some kind of fate that connected him to that object. Chrono attention shifted to the parents as they explained what had happened to them and how they wear horrified being trapped in those cages. There was one thing however that made the Mi'qote a little uneasy about the story. “You know, I am wondering... The heartless I met were dumb as hell. I thought they try to kill anything with a heart running around? Why the hell would they lock you two up and not eat your immediately? Sounds like someone had ordered them to do so...”His attention shifted back to Nick now, waiting for an answer from the kid. “Did you find out who captured them?”Nick Laruzo

♟♟ "Is this the darkness that is within me? Has the power within my heart finally been unlocked? |
"I was rather surprised that they didn't just destroy us, perhaps they were acting on someone else's orders." said Daria. " No, I never found out who locked them up. But, there was a young gentleman with white hair, who helped me fight back the heartless. Without him, I would've been toast for sure. He had something they was called a keyblade, and he was quite skilled in fighting. With both of our attacks combined, we caused the army of heartless to retreat. I had received some damage, but was healed up by the gentleman." said Nick as his mother put the baking pan containing the cake mix into the oven. "After that, I asked him for one favor. To help me and my parents get back home. He had asked me what made me think that he could get me home, I honestly didn't know. I just wanted to return home with my mother and father, one way or another.""When those creatures retreated, our cage had vanished. We ran to our son as quickly as possible, and embraced him. It was all over." said Derrick."Since my magical rock was destroyed, I didn't know of another way to return to Traverse Town. That was until my father pulled out something from his pocket: a stone that was similar to the rock I had. He said that he had been using it to travel around to different worlds during his vacation. And, we used it to return to Traverse. Before I left that dark world, I waved goodbye to the gentleman that helped battle those heartless back, thanking him once again. Maybe I'll see him again, and if not... I wish him the best of luck." He said to Chronos. His mother took a break from being in the kitchen, letting the cake bake in the oven. She went over to the dining room table, and sat down next to her husband.

Chronos kept on listening, thinking about Nicks answer for a while. So they didn't know who locked them up...hm... all of this sounded like there might be more behind all of this, but Chronos didn't know enough to start investigating on the matter. There might be slim chance that all of this could be connected to the Ascians, but would they really reach out so far to gather more power? Well, they surely would play around with mortals like this, but there was more evil in the universe than just that of the Dark Messengers.
A keyblade? He had never heard of that before. He wondered what kind of object that might be? Something similar to a gunblade maybe? His eyes started to sparkle a bit, the weapon-enthusiast inside of him coming out.
“Keyblade? Sounds interesting...”
He decided not to go deeper into it for now thought, listening to Nick finish his story and his mother joining them at table. Chronos sipped a bit of his tea, putting his hand on the table.
“Well than. Happy ending for you and your family.”
He smirked, sharp canines showing.
“So kid. That was a neat story.” He shifted in his seat, leaning forward and putting an arm on the table, looking Nick directly into his eyes, his tail standing up behind him as he continued to smirk.
“You don't happen to have that gauntlet here right now? I'd reeaaaally like to take a look at it. I'm pretty good with weaponry and that gauntlet might help me get some inspiration for my arsenal. Also, I wanna check it out for safety reasons. You don't want it exploding on your face one day or something, yes?”

♟♟ "Is this the darkness that is within me? Has the power within my heart finally been unlocked? |
"Sure, I'll get it from my room upstairs," said Nick as he went upstairs to his room, and got his gauntlet, and returned to the dining room. He placed the platinum grey gauntlet on the dining room table. So far, it was a pretty normal gauntlet, with the words Dark Gauntlet engraved on the side of it. "This is what I call the Dark Gauntlet, it seems to help channel my power, and its ability is only active in battle." After he placed it on the table, he thought about telling Chronos about the dreams he had been having as a kid. In his thoughts, he thought about not saying anything. But perhaps It wouldn't be too much of a bad thing to share, he already told his mother and father about it anyways.
"Also, there's one more thing I want to share. Something that had happened to me many years ago, in my dreams," said Nick as he took a deep breath for a moment. "A dark figure would speak to me in my dreams, mentioning that there was a power within my heart. I asked my mother and father, but they weren't sure how to respond. Then, after a few more years later, the dark figure appeared in my dreams again with the same message, but with more to it. I was told that to unlock the power within me, I had to use the darkness within my heart. I am uncertain about the identity of the dark figure in my dream, but it was quite the dream."
"Indeed it was, it was a dream we could never understand," said Derrick as he heard the oven make a ding noise, which meant that the Chocolate Cake was almost done baking, Daria went into the kitchen to check on it.

Chronos waited patiently for Nick to return with the object of interest but once it was on the table, the geek came out of Chronos. He looked at the armored piece with big eyes, going through his pocket with a hand and pulling out what seemed to be a device to analyze objects. He started to scan it with some Garlond technology he took with him from home and.. ehem... advanced. He looked at a display, checking the numbers that ran down. “Hmm ah yes yes. Looks like a normal gauntlet but it is empowered with magic. I am not good on the magical field but technological-wise... hmm...”
He put down his googles and pulled out a little device and poked it at a few parts of the surface to check it for any reactions from outer touch. He looked up for a moment however when Nick suddenly addressed him. “Oh? A dark figure you say?”
Chronos scratches his ear with his free hand for a moment before he would continue his researching of the magical item. “This figure, can you describe it? Was he wearing a mask and a black robe? Anything you remember of it in particular? Could be that person has been the reason for all your troubles. Maybe that figure is also the person that lead you to the gauntlet and than to that fight in that world, using your parents as motivation.”
Yeah, sounded like something a evil magician would do or something to try and manipulate someone. This whole darkness-thing could also be part of his scheme to make the kid his servant. Sounds totally like villain stuff he was way to familiar with. Nick Laruzo

♟♟ "Is this the darkness that is within me? Has the power within my heart finally been unlocked? |
"In the dream, all I could really see is just a dark outline of a body. Its more of a shadow of someone than anything, and their voice was quite deep actually. That's all I can remember. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the individual that was causing trouble for me, but it was only a dream after all. Unless someone can enter dreams of other individuals," said Nick as he heard the oven make another ding sound, it meant that the chocolate cake was done baking, and was ready to be decorated with frosting. His mother took the baked cake out of the oven carefully, with some leather oven mitts, and placed it on the counter.
"Smells like the cake is done," said Derrick.
"All it needs is some frosting, and time to cool. Then, I'll serve it up," said Daria.
"That does smell really good," Nick said. "Perhaps your friend would like to stay for some Chocolate Cake as well," said Daria as she looked at Chronos with a warm smile. "After all, he helped bring the grocceries back, so I think he deserves a little something for a reward."

Chronos ears perked up at the sound of the oven and the smell of that cake really was hypnotizing. Ah, he'd kill for a nice piece of cake right now. He looked at the information he had gathered and closed the device again, putting away everything and setting the googles back on his head. “Cake would be awesome right now! I'll take that any day for a reward, haha! Though I would surely get into money problems if I take only pastry as reward for my work. A broke machinist is a sad machinist.”He wiggled his tail a little and leaned back into the chair. “Hmmm. You know, entering dreams is not as uncommon as you might think. But that is some high level magic there.”He tapped his fingers on the table, looking at the ceiling for a while as he thought about it for a bit longer. Well, it could have been an Ascian, but why would he go so far outside of were Zodiarc is? Nah, it was most likely something directly connected to the heartless. He seriously needed to do more research on that matter. With the data from the gauntlet, he might be able to work on a weapon against these things. Maybe if he could get his hands on an auracite.. “Kid, you have never gotten proper training on how to use that power, correct? And that voice is still calling out to you at night? Or has it stopped since you achieved that gauntlet.” He pointed at the object on the table. “I don't like it when people get manipulated. It's giving me bad vibes, ya know? It pisses me off.”Nick Laruzo

♟♟ "Is this the darkness that is within me? Has the power within my heart finally been unlocked? |
"I've never gotten proper training on using my power, honestly. And I haven't really heard the voice in my dreams for a long time, it seems that after my journey, the voice went away." said Nick as his mother applied some chocolate frosting to the cake, and let it cool off. "I guess whoever this figure was, must of stopped visiting my dreams for a while."
"It shouldn't take too long for the frosting to cool the cake down, it only takes 30 seconds," said Daria. "Then it'll be ready to eat."
"That's great dear." said Derrick.
After some time or so, the frosting had cooled off on the cake, and it was ready to be served. Daria served up some cake to her husband first, then gave Nick and Chronos a slice of cake. The slices of cake sat on white-pearl colored plates that had a pink ribbon outline on them.
"This looks tasty, thank you mom!" said Nick.
"It smells delicious dear, you always make the best cakes dear," said Derrick.
"Thank you, make sure to eat it all up," said Daria.

Chronos seemed to think about everything, swirling his tea in his cup before he would gulp it all down, followed by a sigh. “Well, you know what, kid? Should ever hear that voice again or have any dreams, call me.” He fished trough his pocket and pulled out what looked to be a pearl, but there was something attached to it, so you could put it on your ear. “That's a contact-pearl. You can reach me with that thing, should you get into trouble and need some guns on your side.”
He smirked, watching how the cake was brought to them, his eyes sparkling at the sight of the chocolate cake. “Oh boy, that sure looks delicious! But erm.. I will have to pack that up and eat it later.”
Chronos checked the time, scratching his head. “Got a little to caught up in the story and everything and totally forgot I still have to pick something up in town, before the shop closes!” The Mi'qote jumped to his feet and stretched. “Ahh man, but thanks for being so nice to me and giving me tea and cake and all. You are pretty nice people! You got a small box for me I can put this in maybe? Don't want to mush that piece of art.”

♟♟ "Is this the darkness that is within me? Has the power within my heart finally been unlocked? |
Nick looked at the pearl he was given, and observed it, saying "Sure, I'll give you a call if something like that happens." as he gently put the pearl right by his tea cup. His parents heard Chronos mention if he could have the cake boxed up.
"Sure, I'll get a cardboard box for you," said Daria as she got a small cardboard container for the cake, and placed it gently inside. Afterwards, she'd made sure it was closed up. "I am glad you could stay for a cup of tea, and help my son out with the groceries, I hope you have safe travels." as she placed the cardboard container that contained the cake, in front of Chronos.
"I hope the rest of your day is pleasant," said Derrick.
"Thank you for hearing my story," said Nick as he started eating his chocolate cake.

Chronos smiled at the family-members. Such nice people. He really had not seen that coming, today. He took the box carefully, nodding at the mother and father. “Thanks for your kindness. Have a nice day.” He looked over to the kid than and ruffled through his hair with his free hand. “And you try to stay out of trouble, alright?”
He gave him a finger-gun-motion and walked to the door, leaving the house and went back on the road to the shop he still needed to visit. He really hoped that the strange dreams would not reach out to the kid again so soon. Better, never again. Manipulating kids was just BAH! Disgusting. The Ascians also always tried to manipulate others of every age to make them pawns in their game and it always ended with death.
Chronos went to the shop, got his package and put everything inside his ship, taking a look at the star map to decide his next move. On a second screen, he had the info of the gauntlet being analyzed by the ship computer. The Mi'qote rubbed his beard with a raised eyebrow, studying the number once more.
“... hm... not made with Ether... so it wasn't the ascians, that's good news. Makes me wonder however, who else is traveling around the worlds, causing problems. And entering dreams, hmmm...” He scratched his beard, scanning the numbers again. “... Not on my watch. I will have a word with that man for sure, once I find him.”
Chronos set the ship on full thrust and shot into the sky, ready to continue his journey with a slice of cake at his side.

♟♟ "Is this the darkness that is within me? Has the power within my heart finally been unlocked? |
Nick waved goodbye to Chronos as he left the house, saying to him "I'll do my best to stay out of trouble," as he watched him go out the front door of the house. He thought he was a nice gentleman, and that he was able to tell him his entire story about his journey.
"I wonder if I'll be able to see him again, I hope so. He seems really nice," thought Nick as he finished up the last bites of his chocolate cake.
