All worlds share one light, one fate.
Lauriam sadly couldn’t remember everything from the book he had once held in his hands. That book that his comrades also possessed and that gave them all the knowledge of the heart, darkness and light they had needed for their tasks as new leaders. With his amnesia, almost all of it was erased from his mind, but a few quotes in the book had been burned into his head, like this one right here. All worlds are connected and the offspring of one world that started it all. The heart of everything that exists. The true Kingdom Hearts. The book was no longer in his hands, lost in time and taken from his memories, but he was almost certain that the books must still be out there, somewhere hidden in the stars.
The book was written in the past, but the one that made it was no ordinary human, able to see the future to a certain extend. Maybe the book could be the missing link to the events long gone and why he was here now. There must be a reason for him, Ventus and Skuld to be here today. Maybe it was something the Master of Masters had planned, thanks to his future vision? Was it truly reaching this far and if so, could the book actually be the key to undo the horrible events of the past and all the deaths?
Everything always led to the book and the Master of Masters. It was all connected and webbed together by this on individual. If he could get a hand on the book and unravel its secrets, then... there might still be hope for the lost warriors of the old times. Since Lauriam didn’t have much to start on, he would try to think logically. Everything or worth that was written down, was always kept at a special place. A library. What better place to hide a book than in a place filled with other books? If what he had heard from the Master of Masters is true, then this could be a spot HE would take, taken his strange humor. And since all worlds were once connected, a big library like this could also hold books, that might hold hints to the old times and help him to move on. Even if there was only a small chance of success, he at least had to try.
Lauriam was not one to bust into a castle and ask the beast nicely to let him look at the books. At best, no one should know what exactly he was searching for the begin with and others would only ask unnecessary questions, should he find anything. This was a one-man-quest.
He waited patiently for everyone in the castle to be asleep, before he would sneak in through an open window and make his way to the giant library, closing the door quietly behind him and locking it. He wanted to make sure no one would disturb him and if anyone found the door to be locked, he would hear it and retreat through the window inside the big hall.
His feet would carry him to the center, the man admiring the paintings on the ceiling for a moment. An interesting art-style, indeed... but he was not here to look at old paintings. Lauriam stepped to one of the old shelves, seeing how high those books reached. This could take a while. He checked the lowest books on the shelve first, his fingers tracing the titles.

An endless sea of books. A task in front of him he was willing to go through with and limited time. It will take him all night to search through the books, but he would willingly sacrifice his sleep for his search. The books in this library didn’t seem to miss anything, like the library of kings and queens should be like. Royalty always had this wish for their homes to be bigger, more pompous and filled with things a normal person could never afford. It was a symbol of power to all their subjects under them. The King and Queen that once had this beautiful castle build must have spent a fortune and many, many years to make it as big and filled with riches as it is now. These books were no exception. Some of these books were written more recently, others maybe centuries old, every kind of knowledge preserved in these walls. Stories of love, theft, broken hearts and creatures of myths... books about history, architecture and writings about the stars, ships and fighting... This library had anything a book-lover could ask for, to fill their hunger for knowledge. It was just perfect for the princess of hearts that lived in this castle with the beast.
He searched through the books, coughing now and then when he found a rather dusty part of the shelves no one had touched for a longer time. Keeping all these books clean and sorted must be quite the task and being a beast must not have made it easier to keep track of all the chores to be handled. Of course, the beast would have better things to do, than to read books all day. There were only a few cracks in the wood on the ground, meaning that he had only been in here a few times, after he had turned. Most of the tracks were also more recent. He pulled one of the books out of the shelve, carefully opening it after blowing off the dust. Well, one will notice he was here of course, but they would not know why and who exactly, unless they knew his fingerprints, which he doubted. This world was stuck in old times, after all.
He flipped through a few pages, seeing images here and there. It was most likely a fable of some sort. Images of dragons, little fairies and a woman in a dress. He flipped through a few more pages, reading a few lines into the book.
And the princess found the door to the land of the fae. She was certain she would now find happiness, but evil has followed her. She had let them right to the land of magic and the dark lord would now make it his and his alone. He wanted to take all magic for himself and become the new king of the land. With all this magic under his control, no one would stand in his way.
Lauriam sighed, looking at the picture under the text. It showed a woman in distress and a man in black armor, a sword in his hand and an army behind him. Power was always part of these stories...

And in the end, the lord couldn’t control the power he had tried to take, the magic destroying him and his army. The brave princess had restored peace to the realm of fairies and with the king of elves, she would live in it till her days end.
So evil was destroyed and light had won. The battle of good and evil had come to an end. An obvious ending, but it was the ‘Happy End’ every reader wished for. The Evil got what it deserved and was destroyed by the power it had wished for all this time.
May your heart be your guiding key.
Yes, a heart. It was a difference. It made him different to that empty vessel he had been before. He too had been an evil lord, that was destroyed by his wish for power. A power he had always desired... maybe part of his nobody-self knew that he once had been blessed with a keyblade and even though he didn’t remember, he wanted it back. He had felt... Incomplete without it. Lauriam shook his head, closing the book and putting it back into the shelf. No, he couldn’t let himself drift off into memories and nostalgia. This was important, but the thoughts had already weaseled their way into his mind, not wanting to let him concentrate. He continued to look through the books, but he was getting more irritated by his thoughts now, his eyes scanning the titles more frantically. He didn’t want to think about it. It still felt so fresh and unwanted. His shoulder knocked into a shelf, making him almost stumble over some of the books that had fallen out, the man able to catch himself in time and putting a hand on his forehead. It’s okay, he would tell himself. He was not himself. He was tricked and turned into that monster. It wasn’t him. These weren’t his thoughts, but those of a manipulated vessel. He didn’t want this to happen. And he didn’t want for others to be pulled into this mess, like Elrena. He had just... wanted his sister back.

What is a matter of heart? Your family. Loved ones. Those close to you and your feelings. Losing them is like losing a part of yourself. Who did Lauriam have left? No one. No, that wasn’t correct. Skuld was out there, Ventus and Elrena must be as well, but no one born close to his heart was still here. His sister had been killed. How much he loved her. He wanted to protect her and that was all that mattered, but even with him becoming one of the new five masters, he could still not undo what had become of Strelitzia. He had always cursed himself for not having been there when she needed him the most. How he could have changed her fate, if he had protected her better. It was always these thoughts that hurt the most and still did. It was hard to lose someone you love and it was even harder facing your own fears and thoughts.
His hands had brought the same fate his sister had to suffer, to others. The blood of many was on them, knowing he was part of the organization that had turned so many into heartless for their own goal. It was sickening and not being able to summon his keyblade anymore only proved him right, that he was no longer worthy.
You have to keep going. You have to do something. It’s not your fault.
All of this... All he was trying to achieve was his way of dealing with these problems. He would drown his thoughts and sadness in his wish to change everything. He would find a way and bring back all those that fell into darkness. If Xehanort was able to move through time, then he should be able to find a way to undo the past and make sure all of this doesn’t happen. He NEEDED that book! He would stand in the hall, breathing in and out as he tried to calm his heartbeat.
He moved to look at one of the big windows next to the fireplace, eyes seeming to stare at all the stars. If he would succeed and change the future, then all these stars would never exist, wouldn’t they? All those keybladers after them would never exist, just like all those separate worlds and their people? He would erase millions of possibilities to restore one complete being.

Lauriam sighed, picking up the books he dropped and placed them back into the shelf he had knocked into, making sure they were at the same spot as before, to make his visit less easy to spot. He shouldn’t change to much in the library. He was at the last three books, when he heard something on the other side of the locked door. It sounded like wood clacking behind it and muffled voices reached his ears.
“I am almost certain I heard something in the library. Did you not?”
“Could be the wind playing tricks on you, mon ami.”
“But what if it is one of those monsters? The lord would be angry, if he found out they are here again and messing with his books.”
Guards or servants of the castle had heard him. Of course... it was the middle of the night and the books inside the library can’t knock themselves over because they felt like it, unlike the rest of the castle. Lauriam put the last book back, moving over to the curtains and hiding behind the long, red silk, listening closely from there.
“The door is locked?”
“Must have been the lord. Attends une minute.”
The door clicked shortly after and was opened, a ray of light from a candle reaching into the library, Lauriam used his position close to the window to check the reflection and get a look at the servants.
“See? Tout va bien. You are getting paranoid, Codsworth.”
“But the lord usually doesn’t lock the library. Bell likes to read, when she can’t sleep at night. Very strange, if you ask me.”
Of course, Bell. Lauriam had not thought that the princess of this world might be coming to the library at night. Locking the door might not have been his best option than, but there was nothing he could do about it now. The two servants, the candelabra and the clock, moved inside, looking around for a moment how it seemed.
“I am telling you, something is wrong here, Lumière. I can feel it!”
The clock pointed to the place his belly should be, seemingly nervous.

Lauriam didn’t want things to escalate, of course. If he would have still been a nobody, he would most likely have tried to take them down immediately and feed their hearts to some Shadows. He silently stayed behind the curtains, not moving an inch as he continued to listen to the servants talk. Lumiére didn’t seem to share the fear of his friend, simply smiling and putting a candle-arm around him. “Relax, mon ami. Come on, let’s go to bed.” Codsworth shoved him away, rolling his eyes slightly. “If something happens, Lumiére-”
“Yes, yes, come on.” “I will tell the guards to check the castle, at least!”
Lauriam watched as the clock was shoved out of the room by the other, the door closing shortly after and the sound of clacking metal and wood slowly fading away. Lauriam sighed, carefully moving out of his hiding. Well, that was unfortunate news. More guards are going to patrol soon, if the head of the household was giving the order. He just lost time, thanks to his little accident. He still had so many shelves to check and this didn’t help at all. Sighing softly, he would continue where he left off, now always on guard and listening for someone to come close to the library. After another 3 hours of searching, the man would slowly start to doubt his plan. He couldn’t just search through every library in the universe, just to find at least one page of the book, could he? No, he had to try. It would take time and afford, but he was not one to simply give up. What was starting to get annoying though were his eyes getting heavier, the longer he searched. Lauriam needed to stay focused and the longer he had to look at these books, the more he was starting to feel tired. Not just because he was getting fatigue, but from all those thoughts he kept getting, the more he checked the titles. He found a whole section about war. Having no one to talk to about the things you had on your mind was not always easy. He would like some company, really. Someone he can share his ideas with and ask for help, but Lauriam knew better than to blindly trust everyone he meets. He could always play the role of the nice helper in need, but getting help for his own problems had always been a thing he was terrible at. When he was searching for his sister, he also didn’t want to get the other leaders involved, after all.
He yawned slightly, trying to stay focused when he actually... found something of interest. It was one of the old books in the war section. It was also covered in dust, like all the other old books, but a symbol on the book cover caught his attention. It was an emblem that held a star shape and what seemed to be the symbol of a clock. It could be pure coincidence, of course, but opening the book, he found it to be rather unique in design and writing. It seemed rather old, as well. He looked through the pages, raising an eyebrow slightly at some paintings. It was no the book he was looking for, but it held notes of an explorer that found old markings in this world, including one in the shape of a keyhole. It could be one of the old connection-points between worlds, but the heart of a world always changes and moves on. If he remembered correct, the keyhole of this world was hidden inside the beast’s flower at the moment. Other worlds still have them engraved in certain places.

Lauriam checked the book for any other interesting hints that could help him to get started. Well, it at least gave him a little hope, that his theory might be correct and he could find the book somewhere out there. It was in that moment, that he remembered something from his time under Xehanort's control. The old man had looked for a black box, correct? And he was obsessed with the old tales of the keyblade war... the box must also be linked to it. He closed the book, deciding to take it with him for now. Maybe there are more books like this one out there in the worlds and the more he could find out about the connection of the worlds these days, the higher his chance might be to get closer to his goal.
He sighed slightly, closing his eyes. He must seem so desperate, clinging to just a small chance of changing things. Others would try to move on and why wouldn't they? This could be his chance to live in the present and not the past, but it was so much harder than he had thought it to be. Lauriam moved to the window, looking outside at the first rays of light that started to move out of the dark of the night that was soon to end. It was a moment of peace before he would begin his journey into the unknown.
He would take small steps and look for the keyholes and signs of old times. He should also look for Ventus and other keybladers, that might have found their way into this time as well, gathering as much information as possible. Lauriam could start with this world, but he had already overstayed his welcome for now. The Beast should be awake soon, just like the rest of the servants and going to take a look at the rose he guarded so well might end in a complete disaster. The Beast was very protective. After all, his whole life was connected to it. He would have enough time to check the other keyholes among the stars. He just had to located those, that Sora didn't find on his journey. Having seen all his memories did pay off in the end. The old leader smiled and turned away from the window, his arms crossed as he went through everything once more.
He would be fine. His heart was guiding him, after all. And so he left the castle and the star to find what he has lost and with hope of changing history and the fate of the forgotten.
